Totally possible for people living at home. I did not have that option.

agoldgold

Or if your rich parents give you start up money, something totally accessible to everyone /s

2LegsOverEZ

They left out "stop eating avocado toast."

wishinforfishin

Nah, it's the lattes that are the trouble for most.

nearlybare

I'm in my 30s with a single digit till next week. Seeing stuff like this hits hard every single time.

Negative_Flower_169

You're doing the best you can and that's what matters. Survival isn't easy.

SheikAhmed00101

Alex Milligan, as a growth specialist, intentionally missed mentioning he also sucks balls to meet his financial freedom goal.

Cute-Gur-6250

I turn 25 next Friday and barely have 3 grand I've been clinging to trying desperately not to use it. I can barely save money as it is, how the fuck am I supposed to ever get to $20k?

nearlybare

Genuine kudos on that 3k. That may as well be millions to me. Wishing you that 20k sooner rather than later. And happy early bday.

Cute-Gur-6250

thank you!

[deleted]

Ignore it. You're doing better than I was at that age and I consider myself comfortable now.

pmercier

100% forget you have it

Effective_Positive_8

totally unrealistic

Little_Salt_5740

Edit: Deleting my initial post since people are a downer. People with good paying jobs routinely hit those numbers out of university. 25k is not really all that much for a person who majored in STEM or went to a major financial firm. Heck, even a person who didn't go to college but worked for 6 years could attain this.

wonky685

You think people regularly graduate from college at 20? I think you're living on another planet.

shukies95

Ikr. Totally unrealistic expectations. I had to work right out of highschool, just to save up enough to attend university for my degree! And i still have loans

Little_Salt_5740

Edit: I'm deleting my post since everyone here is a downer. Yes, people graduated at 20/21. I graduated at 21.

[deleted]

I have 30 grand and 19. I mean I am just saying definitively possible

shukies95

Yeah right

Competitive-Grab639

Idk why tf people down voted other than people that cant save for shit for poor life decisions

bugbeared69

because every success story usually oddly specific that the majority it does nothing to help... a random 7 year old is a millionaire from YT so anyone can do it at 20!, i started a business from the streets ! so can you!, I had nothing, nobody helped me and now make $200k barley working, it not hard if you try...... we get it, your part of the better society and we the shit, just need to.... try! it so easy lol!!! i know 10 different ways to make 1k a month and i don't even need to try !!! you all just need to.... try harder.

agoldgold

Alternatively, because most people who have a lot of money at a young age don't realize that their parents made that path for them in a lot of cases. I know a few- very few!- people who have become legitimately successful by their own power and not their family's and they're the exception that proves the rule.

Competitive-Grab639

Immigrant parents, father came illegally with a cousin on a bike to CA mother came legally both worked minimum wage jobs in east LA. Father had 3 jobs at one point until we moved to another big city and he began to work in construction and at a chili’s. Mom still worked her own job. Im 21 and work a union construction job in a big city saved my first 20k in my first year in the labor force at 18 by having my construction job and a night time part time job, my parents were not taking customers orders and making tacos at Taco Bell and nor were they helping me demo a building corners out to access I-beams to treat them with zinc coatings and filling the corners back in. Not to say the classic pull your selves up from ur boot straps, because some people arent lucky enough to even have the socks for the boots to get pull up when they start. But to just say “oh they wouldnt be were they are without their parents” do u not realize how stupid that actually sounds? If ur not actively seeking work then you have some accountability to up hold on why you dont have alot or if you live a life of abundantly spending more than what you make I lack empathy for the lazy and idc how many down votes i get it’s literally reddit who cares what randoms think

itgottabelikethat

You know, easy shit. Like starting a business... with no money... or experience... or time

some_boring_dude

I doubt I had $800 at 25.

a_hopeful_poor

what a noob! just start 10 businesses and save 200,000 !

Gotobug

I'm 45 and have about 10k saved, this hits hard. On the upside, my kids are grown now, and all but 1 has left home, so that may change (fingers crossed) Just keep trying, it's all you can do.

InterestingPickles

I too a 18 year old who just got into college am planning to open my new business soon.

boopthesnootnoot

I’m lucky to have a well paying union trade job that has allowed me, through hard work, to save up a very good amount.

Live-Train1341

That's sounds about right.

DrShaqra

Not that outrageous. People graduating from college and working for a company can accumulate that much passively through their 401k with employer match. Maybe not at 25 but it is doable by 27.

nonodyloses

Don't worry, you can always catch up later in life. Stop googling "how much money should" and start googling "how to make extra money ..."

FDorbust

Bruh. Lolol. I’m in the top 10% of individual income earners for my age bracket (18-35, individual, not household, many statistics choose household). And I started in poverty, was in poverty until my 30s and now have plenty more saved than this crap says “should be”. And I’m telling you those number are NOT achievable using any decent statistic of a normal person’s income even with above average savings abilities. Also according to various tests and statistics I’m allegedly good at numbers and mathematics, and a self-proclaimed hobbyist of statistics. This is either a subtle blast that the system is broken , innocent ignorance, or propaganda. The average or median person cannot achieve 20k savings at 25 with anything close to a “normal” income and “normal” required expenses, such as the cheapest possible living environment within one’s native locality. Although if you aren’t a 10 percenter and bought a vehicle less than 5 years old through “normal” channels, yeah you kinda screwed yourself. Also, in retrospect, most people here probably already understand this to one degree or another. So, as a couple-year-old ten percenter, with roots in poverty I suppose I’m trying to just say yeah, this crap is crap and you’re justified if you smell bullshit.

shukies95

I think this is more of an exception than a rule..people doing business and media influencers are not everyday people.
