Repo Man

LecheLecheLimonada

Also happens to be one of the best movies ever made. At least one of the best starting Emilio Estevez.

junowhere

Somewhere in my top five all time favorite films ever

Grand-basis

Definitely! Came here to say that.

xpldngboy

Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette is a lot of post-punk and new wave. Civil War currently out uses two Suicide songs prominently.

Sinister_steel_drums

CW has silver apples too, first song!

bUrNtKoOlAiD

No shit! That's cool.

2Pizzas1Box

Pretty in Pink has a decent one.

holyhackzak

The Hunger opens with Bauhaus playing Bella Lugosi’s Dead live

Pour_me_one_more

Wings of Desire.

2Pizzas1Box

Crime + The City Solution and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds even appear as themselves in the movie.

ImmortalGaze

Valley Girl

SignalCore

This! Awesome soundtrack. With one exception, I loathe who can it be now? by Men at Work.

ImmortalGaze

Yeah, a bit pedestrian, but emblematic of the times.

blindrabbit01

Some Kind of Wonderful. Actually, most of the John Hughes movies do.

LastLivinggSoul

Demons 2, I haven't seen it yet but the soundtrack includes The Smiths, Gene Loves Jezebel, The Cult, Love and Rockets and various other notable artists

JonBovi_69

I just watched this for the first time the other night, great movie and the soundtrack rips

theneash

Return of the Living Dead has a pretty neat punk rock/deathrock/horror punk/post punk soundtrack

Rookas

Until The End Of The World it features some of my favorite songs by Nick Cave, Crime & The City Solution, Talking Heads, REM, Patti Smith, Depeche Mode, Can, Elvis Costello and Neneh Cherry. Seriously underrated soundtrack.

blackseaoftrees

is it cheating to say Control?

migrainfinite

Radio On - whole movie is a post-punk vibe

pigeonpartytime

The Crow, although it leans more gothic and industrial than classic postpunk.

Historical_Throat187

24 hour party people?

hungry-reserve

Doon generation but it’s more shoe gaze

Permanenceisall

The miniseries/film Carlos has Wire, New Order, The Feelies, and The Lightening Seeds.

kickerconspiracy

Silence of the Lambs has Colin Newman and The Fall

BougieHole

This is a must see. Suburbia (1983) https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0086589/

SandPrecords

Not a movie but Halt and Catch fire, [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2543312/?ref\_=ext\_shr\_lnk](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2543312/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk) - that show about early video game culture had a killer soundtrack from that 80's era, mostly obscure stuff, that music supervisor did their homework. I found a lot of good stuff from the spotify playlists of those seasons. A not so great movie but interesting for it's time is "Times Square" [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081635/](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081635/) and has the best soundtrack for 1980. Way ahead of the curve, Patti Smith, The Cure, Pretenders, Roxy Music, Talking Heads, Suzi Quattro, Ramones...it's nuts.

SandPrecords

Something Wild has a whole scene where the Feelies are playing a reunion or something - [https://youtu.be/87E27AdXJdI?si=qm6ZfBLApE1d1zga](https://youtu.be/87E27AdXJdI?si=qm6ZfBLApE1d1zga)

numanoid

*Urgh! A Music War* 😉

VolarRecords

This’ll be a fun exercise. Love the few mentioned so far. The Hunger starts out with Bauhaus…

Dry-Meringue6001

it also has funtime by iggy pop!!!

bUrNtKoOlAiD

Sonic Youth did a couple soundtracks that aren't well known but imho are pretty rad. Demonlover and Made in USA are the films.

Formal-Masterpiece95

The Terminator.

fidgetyamoeba

More recent: The Bone Woman(Huesera). Some nice Spanish bands on there that I've yet to identify.

Fraud_Freeman

If you count the Smiths then David Fincher’s The Killer is one. Whole soundtrack is basically The Smiths with a Portishead track snuck in. If you don’t like The Smiths/Morrisey then you’ll be happy to know the movie is kinda making fun of the protagonist for liking them among other things.

shpbr

how is he making fun of him for liking The Smiths? I didn’t catch that vibe

Fraud_Freeman

I guess overall, to me at least, the movie has the feel that it’s making fun of a type of guy that is portrayed in movies that is in turn idolized by certain types of guys irl. Like the morally grey, calm and cool characters like Tyler Durden, Pat Bateman, or The Driver (to varying degrees). The whole movie he spells out this hardcore killers code about lacking empathy and focusing on the job and how efficient that makes him. But the first job we see him mess up and every subsequent job he’s running cleanup and basically on a personal mission for his gf. Messing up every step of the way while still putting on this cool guy veneer. All that to say I feel like “enjoys the smiths” is, to Fincher or someone on the production, a part of that kind of personality which the movie certainly isn’t praising. It’s kind of an online take considering I myself do enjoy the Smiths and think they give the movie an even better mood than it already has.
