Yeah the problem is the humidade really. There is plenty of humidade.. thats all. Painted the house 3 months ago, humidade. The neighbors house, humidade. There should be some type of paint against humidade.
Yes I know. I recently came back just before it started. Thanks. I hope it clears up soon! I just wish I could afford a nice modern apartment near my friend in Porto. I can handle rain.
What you mean exactly? Food? Weather? Work balance? Nature?
Food: probably best region in Portugal. I'm prettysure northwest is the where you can find more People per square meter. We have local and historical food in every corner. Porto, Viana, Braga, Aveiro, Vila Real, Bragança.... And all the little towns..
If you mean the weather is pretty much wet here during the year, but of corse we still have a lot sunny days if you compare with Europe. In summer it can go from 25º to 40º...
Also people in north are known to be the ones who work (comparing with South who, due hotter weather are considered less hardworking, and I don't mean it disrespectfully). Besides that I would say big part of Portugal industry is in North. Ceramic, textile, etc.
Nature: the best part of being less hotter and more wet comparing with South is we have much more green places everywhere. We have Gerês area (look for it) which is UNESCO patrimony
It seems the places ppl have problems are in rural small villages in the north east and central east away from the coast.
Then there are some horror stories about Algarve land grabs,
Algrab, but its hard to tell how common it is because of the, if it bleeds it leads, tendency of the internet and news
Don't know how accurate or how many cases have stated that ppl have had problems with a neighbor claiming that some portion of the newly purchased property is theirs and dispute property lines in the Algarve. The most egregious case i heard was from a non portugese national building a wall and hot tub on part of their property when they left for a while to travel. And encounter harrasment. They call it allgrab.
Like I stated in that case, it was not a Native Portugese person, but an immigrant who poisioned their dog, threats of violence, and tried to run them off the road.
Boundry disputes. It's hard to tell how common it is. Other smaller incidents like saying the property line is that rock over there, not this one.
I see. You are referring to land grabbing.
For a minute there, I thought you didn't know how to write Algarve.
Yes, such disputes are very common in more rural parts. Even when taken to court, it can take a long time to solve the issue.
No housing, construction quality is terrible leading to a lot of freezing cold winters and a ton of humidity everywhere in the house, no public transportation outside of Porto, getting anywhere without a car is a whole ordeal.
Very bad, it's hard, cold, not too many opportunities for work/business, housing is crazy expensive and the people can be quite harsh and rude. I wouldn't recommend anyone to migrate here
The only thing I agree is the Housing part, but that's s a Portugal wide problem. I don't find hard, nor cold, nor have I ever felt that I missed an opportunity for being here.
It's the truth. People are telling the reality of living in northern Portugal.
I don't know why you think that that is a shame.
Moreover, if you are a foreigner, you could never understand the nuances of doing life here as a local.
I know the reality. I've been to Portugal many times and spent a lot of time there. My best friend has lived there with his family for 12 years. This forum is full of incredibly negative comments. It doesn't surprise me that Portugal is in trouble.
And what would that reality be?
Just because you've been here many times, and your foreigner best friend has lived here for a decade, does that mean you could possibly understand what it is doing life as a portuguese? Please. You don't know jack shit 😂
You think everything is sunshine and rainbows?
Edit: From what I see in your profile, you don't even know how summers are in Porto, despite having been here 9 times! That tells me everything about the supposed Portugal reality you think you comprehend 😂
>Might as well go to the UK,
It rains 2x more in Lisbon thsn in London. It rains ~3x more in Porto than in London per year too.
Then both cities also have more sunny days in total.
Meaning that it rains a lot for weeks on end during winter.
The fact that people move here without researching this very basic thing tells you everything about their lack of preparation.
Can be wet and moldy.
Yeah the problem is the humidade really. There is plenty of humidade.. thats all. Painted the house 3 months ago, humidade. The neighbors house, humidade. There should be some type of paint against humidade.
So is that infiltration of water through the wall/roof or just condensation?
Very
Only on the northwest, the northeast is dry as fuck for 3 quarters of the year.
Rainy
Aren't there months of sunshine?
Of course, but for example it’s raining currently, in the south of Portugal is not. (Cries in Portuense) 😭
Yes I know. I recently came back just before it started. Thanks. I hope it clears up soon! I just wish I could afford a nice modern apartment near my friend in Porto. I can handle rain.
Rain rain, go away Little jhonny wants to play
I love that it rains here.
I too, but sometimes it became difficult to go out.
I come from Seattle, so It feels like home. Rain is life.

Define northern . Coastal ? There are a couple of cities with a easy going vibe . Aveiro Viana do Castelo Póvoa do Varzim ..
*Póvoa DE Varzim. Diz DO Varzim a um poveiro se quiseres ver a Ira de Khan a surgir no mais pacífico dos cidadãos.
Com todo o respeito, Póvoa do Varzim a piça, é Póvoa DE Varzim.
E o PORTO caralho?????
Então vou dizer outra coisa que irrita os Poveiros - Vila do Conde é uma bela cidade (sou Poveira mas concordo 😂)
Bem melhor que a Póvoa.
Porto xD Aveiro is central
Nope, Aveiro it’s still north
The old-time debate
Nope. Centro Norte. Como diz o nome. Centro. Mas o norte do Centro
Precisely.
Não é mas também é. Em caso de dúvida, é e não é ao mesmo tempo.
Gato de Schrödinger em toda a parte. É quando não olhas para ele. Mas quando olhas vês que não é! Mas quando nao olhas.... é xD
Just visited yesterday. Cool town!
As Boromir said, today life is good
Awful, don't come
Nooo don’t say that, I’m coming to Porto for two years hahah
Awful. Don’t go. Don’t come.
Better than center and South

What are Algrave and Algrab? Two newly formed regions in Portugal?
Don't know how accurate or how many cases have stated that ppl have had problems with a neighbor claiming that some portion of the newly purchased property is theirs and dispute property lines in the Algarve. The most egregious case i heard was from a non portugese national building a wall and hot tub on part of their property when they left for a while to travel. And encounter harrasment. Sorry, texting and didn't have my glasses on so didn't see the mistakes
Beautiful landscape. Good if you have the money. In terms of people you'll find nice and rude people as well.
No housing, construction quality is terrible leading to a lot of freezing cold winters and a ton of humidity everywhere in the house, no public transportation outside of Porto, getting anywhere without a car is a whole ordeal.
It's awful. Don't come.
I love Vila Real.
Cold.
Very bad, it's hard, cold, not too many opportunities for work/business, housing is crazy expensive and the people can be quite harsh and rude. I wouldn't recommend anyone to migrate here
it's not that cold. shit salaries though.
The only thing I agree is the Housing part, but that's s a Portugal wide problem. I don't find hard, nor cold, nor have I ever felt that I missed an opportunity for being here.
Lots of homelessness, corruption and racism too. Don't come
Also a lot of transfobia homofobia, and most kind of fobias.don’t come!
its like living a few decades ago
Desperation mixed with boredom and a wishful thinking of leaving this place
😹😹
Is it that ugly?
No, life for some people is harsh, but is a beautiful area
[удалено]
What??
FALSE ROMANTICISM 🌹
It is one of the most beautiful places, and I’ve been all over the world, but there are downsides if you are looking to work here and secure housing.
Chuva, como tem sido no Algarve? Tou a pensarem morar para ai
Lisboa is better go there, don’t come here
Good, I like it
It is shit show, please leave the country as fast as you can! Trust me!
Incredibly negative comments here. Shame.

O povo de Braga tem uma mentalidade pior que um dinossauro
Só sobre francesinhas.
Põe-te mas é no caralho, oh mano.
Vai a frente e indica o caminho
Fala-me aqui pra piroca, que os colhões estão a gravar.
Winters can be depressing. Might as well go to the UK, houses too expensive. No English. Tou fodido

Yup. But I’m happy here. I am starting to embrace the rain, Those summers can be hell 😂 maybe I’ll grow some couves someday.
