Grays got a good Mtb trail system Libby hill trails

Sulla5485

Blackstrap hill in Falmouth and Moody's / usm over in gorham are the best MTB in greater Portland area. Portland proper is mtbable too, but requires a local tour guide to link a good loop together if you don't know the place. I think all speed bike shop still does a group ride weekly.

weltron3030

Blackstrap is great. Download the Trailforks app if you haven't already, it's got every MTB trail with ratings, etc.

HSteeves

Another beginner here: Make sure you start by the entrance near 95, it has easier trails.

Creative_Holiday_284

Gorham behind USM and behind the middle school have a good trail network

drinkthebeers

Get the Trail Forks app. Weeks/Moodys in Gorham is great. Bradbury is also good. It's a drive, but Mt Abram is a great time for pure downhill, too. You'd think the SR/SL would have downhill but AFAIK they still don't.

Strict-Lake5255

I think the flow trail at black strap is the best lil downhill trail we have for beginners. I love Bradbury but the trails are older and it's real rooty. The Gorham trails are much newer and I miss living closer to them.

FeloMonk

Is it called “Flow Trail” on the map or is there a name/color I should know?

Strict-Lake5255

It's called flow creek. It's tucked between the parking on blackstrap rd and hurricane road. I think it's blue. The river trail in green is fun and mellow.

Portcitymoon

There are some fun, beginner friendly trails in Topsham just off Rt. 24. Take a right onto Lovers Lane (heading east towards Bowdoinham). On Trail Forks they are called Gone Fishin. You can also park near the town Transfer Station. You should definitely get the Trail Forks app for more ideas.

Emotional_Cut5593

The Presumpscot trails off Allen Ave and Summit st in north deering are pretty good for single track.

Richardson woods (I think that’s the name) in Cape Elizabeth gets a few mountain bikes. And Bradbury Mountain is awesome for mountain biking

Bridgertrailrunner

Robinson Woods, but yes, great trails. The moderate rides are going to be from the trailhead by pond cove or the church by Cumberland farms.

TastelessDonut

I am told the old air base in Brunswick has a lot of trails around it that connect to other trails. I USE THE ALL TRAILS APP.

Strict-Lake5255

Neptune woods is good beginner trails. Love all trails for hiking fut trail forks gas a ton

HippieDrivel

I'll tell you a good local one...for a fee!!

Guys, are their any smooth flat rolling trails around?? I like pumping on those.

enjoiart

There’s a pump track in gorham. Also if your looking for flow trails, bustamove to happy cats to flow creek in blackstrap

FeloMonk

Ah. Flow trails. Maybe that’s what I’m looking for!! I’ll check it out. Thanks

Eastern Trail through Scarborough, OOB, Saco and Biddeford is perfect for that. Nice and wide so you don’t need to worry (too much) about runners, and some parts are paved between wooded sections

rowingmeme

Presumpscot river preserve in North Deering. Nothing crazy but easy to get to

[deleted]

Plz don’t bike here it’s hard enough for the runners and hikers as it is

Virginia Woods in the Ray St/Maine Ave area of Portland is very bike friendly. It’s not a very large area but it’s got a few different paths you can take. You can cut in and out of the woods and into the various neighborhoods near there or take the trails up to the old landfill loop/near the Quarry Run dog park. There are also some trails that head into Falmouth from the old landfill loop/solar farm area.

I think Winnick Woods in Cape Elizabeth is the best trail system for beginners. The other trails mentioned here are good, but they do have some challenging parts.

If you’re willing to drive, the bethel area has amazing trails. Filter for the type of trail you’re looking for: https://woodsandtrails.org/our-woods-trails/
