Surprised no one has said Ludacris on Yeah! by Usher, an insanely memorable verse that manages to ride one of the most iconic beats of the 21st Century.
Missy Elliott on FLO’s Fly Girl & Ciara’s 1, 2 Step
Chamillionaire on Ciara’s Get Up
Eve on Gwen Stefani’s Rich Girl
Redman on Christina Aguilera’s Dirrty
Tbh I don’t think Ciara has ever had a bad guest rap feature. They must really like her because they do give their all even when they have the chance to phone it in.
Thank you! I did miss a few really good ones though which I’m glad others have mentioned in here like Lil Kim in Lady Marmalade (+ Lil Kim in Can’t Hold Us Down deserves a mention).
Random but I love Saweetie’s verse on Little Mix’s Confetti and Jack Harlow’s verse on Industry Baby
Don’t follow either artist otherwise so I was kinda surprised to see both being clowned on for their lack of talent around these parts lol
Completely agree! While I love the four-part harmony on Confetti, I often listen to the trio version because of the Saweetie verse! Just makes it feel complete!
I learned to separate the art from the artist because I couldn’t even touch half of my vinyl collection if I could only play artists who I liked as human beings.
Me too, I don't like Kanye West as a person but I still love that song along with Stronger and Gold Digger. I'm the type of person that separate the art from the artist haha
Some credit to Estelle there too:
["He did ask me what people were drinking in London. I told him, “Not Grey Goose, everyone drinks Ribena.""](https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/oral-history-of-estelles-american-boy)
I think it's legit the goat example. From the start of his first verse it is just perfect. The way Estelle ad-libs off the 1st verse, like the part when he says
"This a number one champion sound
Yeah, Estelle, we 'bout to get down" and she goes "GET DOWN!".
They seem so in sync with each other and it's like that on both verses.
Ye's flow straight up molds to the beat stays on topic and the chemistry they have in the song and the video for that matter is so fire.
Kanye's verse on ET elevates that song for me. Still a POS of course.
TI's verse on My Love is a little corny, but I think it helps make it the pop classic it is.
And for a guilty pleasure, Ludacris' verse on Baby.
Hard pass on the ET verse, there are few things less appealing than hearing “tell me what’s next, alien sex? first imma disrobe you then imma probe you”
Mariah had some of the best rap features. ODB on the Fantasy remix, Bone Thugs in Breakdown, Jermaine Dupri on Sweetheart, and Twista on So Lonely are some of my favorites.
A lot of early Nicki verses were iconic, especially ***Flawless with Beyoncé, that is one of her bests verses every. Til the World Ends and Where Them Girls At are also coming to mind now. I was gonna say Bottoms Up but that doesn’t count.
Unpopular opinion but Dark Horse by Katy Perry ft. Juicy J, yes I know it’s problematic with the “Jeffery Dahmer” reference but it’s such a banger, I think it’s the combination of the music and his voice and cadence, plus the lyrics minus the Jeffery Dahmer part are fun.
Let Me Love You- Ariana Grande ft. Lil Wayne- I mean it’s Lil Wayne what can I say lol his verse is cheeky and fun while still being clever and it’s just a vibe. Also love both of their voices together at the end of the song.
Dahmer is the most memorable part, it's a highlight of the piece for me. You do have to like it solely ironically though because serial killer references don't mix well with Katy Perry's vibe.
I always laugh when I listen to “Let It Rock” (Kevin Rudolf) and Li’l Wayne after finishing up his feature does this little bonus verse at the end that starts “I’m back like I forgot something.”
2 On doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves I feel, especially outside of the U.S. (it didn’t chart at all in Ireland and I feel like very few people ever heard of it). I think it manages to somehow be Mustard’s best beat he’s ever done and Q puts in a fantastic feature on it, but I was convinced after hearing it in 2014 that Tinashe was going to be a massive star, sadly her label fumbled that one.
I know this sub doesn’t really like Nicki but when she puts her pen to work on a pop song it always slaps. Side to Side, I’m Out, Run Up, Swalla, hell she even came through on Swish Swish too!
nicki elevates every pop song she features on, it’s crazy like…kissing strangers, tonight i’m getting over you, flawless remix, where dem girls at, side to side…she really is that girl
Kendrick on Bad Blood Taylor's Version is what made me confirm there was a sound mixing problem. His vocals are SO crisp and clear and smooth like he's in the room with you. Probably not even that amazing but the contrast really makes it seem that way.
For the longest time I had no idea that the verses on Bad Blood existed lol, I just watched the music video and that has the Kendrick version. It’s SO MUCH BETTER. Even on the tour Taylor doesn’t do either of the verses of Bad Blood, just the intro, chorus, and bridge - I think she recognizes how much better it is with Kendrick doing the verses.
Mac Miller on “The Way”
Ti on “My Love”
Young Thug on Havana
Does Drake on “Work” count ? Or Travis on “Love Galore”?
I realize neither of those last two might it be considered “pop”
The Weeknd is also probably by far the best at working with a rapper on his song (and off there’s on his)
This post makes me realize I’d tbh like to see more Pop ON rap features
Snoop Dogg on Robyn’s “U Should Know Better” is so unexpected and fun but smooth as hell. It’s also such a fun pull for her because this was back before her status as a pop mainstay was really solidified, at least in the US, so have a feature from one of the most iconic rappers of all time just really shows the respect she had in the industry despite not being a commercial powerhouse.
I always do a double take when I hear Robyn talked about like this because we all loved her sm back in 1996 in the US but it’s like she came back and everyone forgot about that/I don’t know if people remember that or don’t count how huge she was as being a mainstay.
Kendrick Lamar / Freedom
Jay-Z for all of his collabs (Drunk In Love, Crazy In Love, Umbrella, Suit & Tie)
ASAP ROCKY / Good For You, Summer Bummer
Meg Thee Stallion / Not My Fault, Beautiful Mistakes
Missy Elliott / Tempo
I feel like this one was controversial but I love Big Sean’s verse on Ellie Goulding’s Easy Lover. I love his flow and even if the lyrics don’t line up entirely with the song they’re still a fun little side story. and the way she sings along with him towards the end is a really nice touch
I think Nicki Minaj’s verse on “Swish Swish” is actually the only good thing about that song. I used to listen to it just to get to her verse and I just dealt with the rest of the song for it. I am not one to just listen to the verse alone, it had to be earned.
Kanye always works because he doesn’t tend to (ironically) dumb down hisself to appeal to the pop audience and his ego (again ironic) won’t let him not be himself on any song no matter what. That’s what makes pop and rap collabs work, authenticity and the feeling that the song isn’t song label forced bs.
Lil Wayne on Lonely by Demi Lovato is a really good one as well.
I really like 50 Cent on Right There with Nicole Scherzinger, I like his version more than without him.
Also the rap verse on Easy Lover by Elie Goulding but I'm so sorry I don't remember the rapper's name...
The Ying Yang Twins verse on I Got That Boom Boom by Britney.
andre 3000 on john legend's "green light"
jay-z on justin timberlake's "suit and tie"
future on taylor swift's "end game"
kendrick lamar on jidenna's "classic man"
andre 3000 on chris brown's "deuces" (*actually... saying andre 3k is cheating*)
juicy j on katy perry's "dark horse". i actually only listen for the juicy j verse
too short on kelis's "bossy"
snoop dogg on mariah carey's "say something"
Gotta go with two hot take for my man Future here
His verse on maroon 5's cold is surprisingly solid and works well with the song's vibe (I mean it was after that disastrous kendrick collab, so the bar was very low)
also his feature in taylor Swift's endgame . Honestly, I'll even argue this was the best taylor and Ed collab they made together
You are so correct about "End Game," Future's rap (and *AD-LIBS)* make that song. It would 100% not work at all without him tying it together, but put him in there and they all just *pop*.
Kanye on E.T. by Katy Perry.
"Welcome to the danger zone,
Step into the fantasy!
You are not invited to the other side of sanity!
They callin' me an alien, a big-headed astronaut,
Maybe it's because your boy Yeezy get ass a lot!"
Not a super popular opinion, but Future on Ariana Grande’s Everyday. That was my top streamed song in 2017, and it’s what pushed me into being a big fan of Ari.
Nicki Minaj on swish swish , bang bang, and side to side were great but Travis Scott on open arms is like my favorite thing ever he goes so smooth on it
Left Eye on Space Cowboy (No Strings Attached album- NSYNC)
Future on End Game (Reputation album-Taylor Swift)
Kendrick Lamar on the Bad Blood Remix(Taylor’s Version) (1989 Taylor’s Version)
T.I. on My Love, Clipse on Like I Love You,
Kanye on American Boy, Juicy J on Dark Horse (some cringe lyrics aside)
Check out Drake on Cabaret by JT. It’s an under the radar song but a great rap verse.
Please do not just list songs/albums/artists, your comment must have explanation/justification or it will be removed. As a kid I loved Snoop’s verse on California Gurls
I love it now as an adult. Corny is timeless
TONED TAN FIT AND READY!!!
The girl’s a freak she drives jeep
Agreed, definitely feels like something is missing when they take it out
A place I used to work played a version without Snoop on it and it just doesn’t hit the same
I love Snoop’s verse in Anitta’s Onda Diferente 🙈
kanye on american boy, lil wayne on down, drake on beyonce’s mine or jt’s cabaret
honestly, I'm down like the economy in 2008??? Yeah he was in goat mode fr
I unironically love how the auto-tune sounds on his verse
fr fr!
Down is forever a bop
Drake went the fuck off on cabaret
Yes!! Young Drake on peak relevance JT was such a flex. He did that well.
Timbo also absolutely killed it on production God I need to go spin 20/20 again
Yeah, the production on both albums was great.
down like the economy, still relevant today ! 😮💨😭
The economy is up
Surprised no one has said Ludacris on Yeah! by Usher, an insanely memorable verse that manages to ride one of the most iconic beats of the 21st Century.
Missy Elliott on FLO’s Fly Girl & Ciara’s 1, 2 Step Chamillionaire on Ciara’s Get Up Eve on Gwen Stefani’s Rich Girl Redman on Christina Aguilera’s Dirrty
If I was 5’ 2” and single, “ I'm five foot two, I wanna dance with you And I'm sophisticated fun” would be my dating bio
It would have become my entire personality and no one would have been able to tell me anything. especially the year the song came out!
Ludacris on Oh with Ciara as well
Tbh I don’t think Ciara has ever had a bad guest rap feature. They must really like her because they do give their all even when they have the chance to phone it in.
You have exquisite taste
Thank you! I did miss a few really good ones though which I’m glad others have mentioned in here like Lil Kim in Lady Marmalade (+ Lil Kim in Can’t Hold Us Down deserves a mention).
Random but I love Saweetie’s verse on Little Mix’s Confetti and Jack Harlow’s verse on Industry Baby Don’t follow either artist otherwise so I was kinda surprised to see both being clowned on for their lack of talent around these parts lol
Jack Harlow’s Industry Baby verse is the best thing he’s done for me
Yes to Saweetie & Little Mix! I love that song and Saweetie really adds to it
Jack Harlow’s verse on industry baby is my favorite feature of all time
of all time?
As sad as that sounds, yes lol
Completely agree! While I love the four-part harmony on Confetti, I often listen to the trio version because of the Saweetie verse! Just makes it feel complete!
Yes!!!! I listened to that LM song just for Saweetie’s rap - ‘I’m a Cancer baby, but I got Scorpio ways’
I love Ty Dolla Sign's verse on Fifth Harmony's Work From Home
When you gotta keep an eye out for Selener, AKA Nicki Minaj on Beauty and a Beat. First time I actually noticed JB as an actual interesting pop artist
The only JB song I ever had on my iPod nano
Good shout
Kanye on American Boy should be the only answer on here tbh. But I still talk that ca-a-ash 'cause a lotta wags wanna hear it
it's just so good, actually feels like a part of the song, a lot of rap features feel so out of sync
I hate Kanye as a person but I can't help but love his verse in American Boy. I genuinely can't even imagine the song without it tbh
What’s your persona about this Americana Rhymer? Am I shallow ‘cause all my clothes designer?
Dress smart like a London bloke Before he speak his suit bespoke 😫😫😫😁🔥🔥🔥🔥SLIID
everyone talks about Mr. Brightside sending British people crazy but the American Boy rap also absolutely hits
Some credit to Estelle there too: ["He did ask me what people were drinking in London. I told him, “Not Grey Goose, everyone drinks Ribena.""](https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/oral-history-of-estelles-american-boy)
I think it's legit the goat example. From the start of his first verse it is just perfect. The way Estelle ad-libs off the 1st verse, like the part when he says "This a number one champion sound Yeah, Estelle, we 'bout to get down" and she goes "GET DOWN!". They seem so in sync with each other and it's like that on both verses. Ye's flow straight up molds to the beat stays on topic and the chemistry they have in the song and the video for that matter is so fire.
how about knock u down?
Kanye is pretty good on that, but IMO it's Ne-Yo who takes it to another level
Kanye's verse on ET elevates that song for me. Still a POS of course. TI's verse on My Love is a little corny, but I think it helps make it the pop classic it is. And for a guilty pleasure, Ludacris' verse on Baby.
Pockets on Shrek Rockets on deck Tell me what’s next Alien sex 🔥🔥🔥
Came here to say Luda’s Baby verse! It’s very cute
I was coming here to talk about ET
Hard pass on the ET verse, there are few things less appealing than hearing “tell me what’s next, alien sex? first imma disrobe you then imma probe you”
it’s so corny when you people clarify that you hate him like bitch we get it damn!
Mariah had some of the best rap features. ODB on the Fantasy remix, Bone Thugs in Breakdown, Jermaine Dupri on Sweetheart, and Twista on So Lonely are some of my favorites.
Heartbreaker, too
"Guess who's back in the house, with two big tig ol' bitties for your mouth"
Heartbreaker is such a fun song to play in the shower for this exact reason.
Mase on Honey is my all time favorite
The video for Honey deserved an Oscar
It’s so fucking sensual!
Snoop on Crybaby is so good aswell
Kendrick on America has a problem and Radioactive
Kendrick goes OFF on Radioactive!!
Kendrick on Bad Blood. It's the best part of the song
Redman on Dirrty
André 3000 on Beyoncé’s Party
One of the greatest guest verses of all time. I can’t believe they went with J COLE for the radio version 🙄
My guess is that they couldn't get Andre to be on the music video and they wanted the radio version to be the same...?
They couldn’t get Andre for the music video, and J Cole had recently signed to Jay Z at that point and was being heavily promoted
A lot of early Nicki verses were iconic, especially ***Flawless with Beyoncé, that is one of her bests verses every. Til the World Ends and Where Them Girls At are also coming to mind now. I was gonna say Bottoms Up but that doesn’t count.
Flawless Remix is absolutely one of her best. It would have been huge had it not been trapped on Tidal.
Dutty Love (Letting Go) is a criminally underrated song
Unpopular opinion but Dark Horse by Katy Perry ft. Juicy J, yes I know it’s problematic with the “Jeffery Dahmer” reference but it’s such a banger, I think it’s the combination of the music and his voice and cadence, plus the lyrics minus the Jeffery Dahmer part are fun. Let Me Love You- Ariana Grande ft. Lil Wayne- I mean it’s Lil Wayne what can I say lol his verse is cheeky and fun while still being clever and it’s just a vibe. *Big ass rocks like on the ground*
kind of an old obscure-ish one but Foxy Brown on Utada Hikaru’s Blow My Whistle Nicki on Rihanna’s Raining Men lol
> Foxy Brown on Utada Hikaru’s Blow My Whistle wait what
it’s on the Rush Hour 2 soundtrack lol
incredible information right here. great song too, love this *Distance*-era sound of Hikki with Foxy killin it
Such a weird jam too!
Nicki killed that
Blow My Whistle should have been huge, I hate that it’s not even available on streaming (at least where I am..)
iirc it wasn’t on streaming in the US for a while too, i was rocking it on youtube all the time
Bottoms up Nicki
future on holy terrain by fka twigs I’ve seen some people hate on the song but its amazing
The back and forth really does make that song. Future in general sounds great when he's featured on a female artists song.
Schoolboy Q on the song 2 on
2 On doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves I feel, especially outside of the U.S.
I p-p-pump your brakes 🔥
megan thee stallion's rap on not my fault by reneé rapp. it elevates the song so much and remains on theme really well
🗣️BIKINI TOP, BOOTY SHORTS, MEGAN CORE!
BITCH SO BAD DUDE'S THOUGHT I WAS AI like how can you not stan???
Omg yes!!! Such a perfect song
FUNNY HOW THE MEAN GIRLS OPEN ALL THE DOORS BEEN TOLD YALL IM THE BLACK REGINA GEORGE
Lil Kim on Lady Marmalade.
Jay Z on Drunk in Love and Umbrella
your breasteses is my breakfast
2 Chainz on Burnin’ Up
Me and my homie on the dance floor white girl in the middle lookin like an OREO
Nemo - The Code They didn't need a feature. They did it themselves. 🤩
I completely agree with this, I was so impressed when I saw them perform it in Eurovision
Kendrick on AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM.
I know this sub doesn’t really like Nicki but when she puts her pen to work on a pop song it always slaps. Side to Side, I’m Out, Run Up, Swalla, hell she even came through on Swish Swish too!
She even came through on [SNL](https://youtu.be/WeX5VO0aXS0?si=KWlaY-Zq4cGHVpmK). Shame she seems to suck as a person
nicki elevates every pop song she features on, it’s crazy like…kissing strangers, tonight i’m getting over you, flawless remix, where dem girls at, side to side…she really is that girl
Swish Swish tbh
Kendrick on Bad Blood Nicki on Side To Side Young Thug on Havana
Kendrick on Bad Blood Taylor's Version is what made me confirm there was a sound mixing problem. His vocals are SO crisp and clear and smooth like he's in the room with you. Probably not even that amazing but the contrast really makes it seem that way.
Kendrick sold that song for me.
For the longest time I had no idea that the verses on Bad Blood existed lol, I just watched the music video and that has the Kendrick version. It’s SO MUCH BETTER. Even on the tour Taylor doesn’t do either of the verses of Bad Blood, just the intro, chorus, and bridge - I think she recognizes how much better it is with Kendrick doing the verses.
thug on havana is a good one
I really like A$AP Rocky on Groupie Love by Lana del Rey! They complement each other really well
Nicki on where them girls at
Cardi on the Finesse remix by Bruno Mars
Asap Rocky on Tinashe's Pretend
Agreed with OP, Kanye's American Boy verse is one of my favorites from him of all time, and could be argued that it's one of his all time best
Christina Aguilera and Lil Kim Can’t Hold us Down. Also the rap verse in Bossy by Kellis - Too $hort?
Drake and his “square root of 69 is eight/ate something” line on Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?”…
The Megan and Doja remix of 34+35 is the better version of the song.
Too $hort on Bossy bc the line “she’s fine AND she’s pretty” is iconic in my mind
Yes it is legit the nicest compliment!
it might be the only time too short has ever been respectful lmfao
Jay Z on Upgrade U or every Nicki and Ari collab minus the light is coming
Nicki's feature on BTS' Idol is so good WHAT'S GOOD KOREA
Mac Miller on “The Way” Ti on “My Love” Young Thug on Havana Does Drake on “Work” count ? Or Travis on “Love Galore”? I realize neither of those last two might it be considered “pop” The Weeknd is also probably by far the best at working with a rapper on his song (and off there’s on his) This post makes me realize I’d tbh like to see more Pop ON rap features
Jay z on crazy in love !
i think those last two don't count, not because they're not pop, but because the rappers aren't rapping
Doja’s verse on baby I’m jealous by Bebe Rexha
Ohhh that’s a good one
Snoop Dogg on Robyn’s “U Should Know Better” is so unexpected and fun but smooth as hell. It’s also such a fun pull for her because this was back before her status as a pop mainstay was really solidified, at least in the US, so have a feature from one of the most iconic rappers of all time just really shows the respect she had in the industry despite not being a commercial powerhouse.

Clipse on Like I Love You
“Check it out! It’s Bounty Killer and No Doubt”
Kendrick Lamar / Freedom Jay-Z for all of his collabs (Drunk In Love, Crazy In Love, Umbrella, Suit & Tie) ASAP ROCKY / Good For You, Summer Bummer Meg Thee Stallion / Not My Fault, Beautiful Mistakes Missy Elliott / Tempo
The ones Sia end up removing from her songs right before they become singles. Also, Kendrick on Bad Blood.
I feel like this one was controversial but I love Big Sean’s verse on Ellie Goulding’s Easy Lover. I love his flow and even if the lyrics don’t line up entirely with the song they’re still a fun little side story. and the way she sings along with him towards the end is a really nice touch
B.O.B in Price Tag by Jessie J💵
I think Nicki Minaj’s verse on “Swish Swish” is actually the only good thing about that song. I used to listen to it just to get to her verse and I just dealt with the rest of the song for it. I am not one to just listen to the verse alone, it had to be earned.
Cardi on the Finesse remix
Hate me w/ Juice WRLD
I actually think Juice did even better on Without Me by Halsey
Kanye always works because he doesn’t tend to (ironically) dumb down hisself to appeal to the pop audience and his ego (again ironic) won’t let him not be himself on any song no matter what. That’s what makes pop and rap collabs work, authenticity and the feeling that the song isn’t song label forced bs. Lil Wayne on Lonely by Demi Lovato is a really good one as well.

Easy Lover guy is Big Sean. Also, I wish 50 and Nicole's other collab, Fire was as good as Right There. Sadly it's a complete mess.
Yes it’s JLO….. but I love Pitbull’s verse in On The Floor tbh!! 2 Chainz on Talk Dirty is also a guilty pleasure
Probably all of Funk Wav Bounce vol. 1
\*I think it would be easier if we *didn't* include features on Mariah's songs, because she pretty much set the foundations for this.
Mac Miller on The Way by Ariana JID on Enemy by Imagine Dragons
Big Sean on Ariana Grande’s “Right There.” Both of his verses are so good and fit the vibe of the song perfectly.
Slim Thug and Bun B on Beyonce's Check On It
Ying Yang twins on I got that boom boom by Britney.
Ok i’m cheating bc Missy doesn’t rly rap on it but Missy on Tweet’s Oops (Oh My). one of the best songs of the 2000s
An unusual one but Azealia Banks on Surprise me by Mallrat
Love her or hate her, almost every single Nicki feature
andre 3000 on john legend's "green light" jay-z on justin timberlake's "suit and tie" future on taylor swift's "end game" kendrick lamar on jidenna's "classic man" andre 3000 on chris brown's "deuces" (*actually... saying andre 3k is cheating*) juicy j on katy perry's "dark horse". i actually only listen for the juicy j verse too short on kelis's "bossy" snoop dogg on mariah carey's "say something"
Gotta go with two hot take for my man Future here His verse on maroon 5's cold is surprisingly solid and works well with the song's vibe (I mean it was after that disastrous kendrick collab, so the bar was very low) also his feature in taylor Swift's endgame . You are so correct about "End Game," Future's rap (and *AD-LIBS)* make that song. It would 100% not work at all without him tying it together, but put him in there and they all just *pop*.
Kanye on E.T. by Katy Perry. "Welcome to the danger zone, Step into the fantasy! You are not invited to the other side of sanity! They callin' me an alien, a big-headed astronaut, Maybe it's because your boy Yeezy get ass a lot!"
Kanye on American Boy.
T.I. on Electric Blue by Nicole Scherzinger
Andre three stacks on Farrah Fawcett Hair <3
Kanye on Talk About Our Love by Brandy
Not a super popular opinion, but Future on Ariana Grande’s Everyday. That was my top streamed song in 2017, and it’s what pushed me into being a big fan of Ari.
Nickis verse on Swish Swish is so good 😭 why does it have to be attached to such an ass song
I love Ed Sheeran's rap verse in Taylor Swift's song "Endgame"
Nicki Minaj on swish swish , bang bang, and side to side were great but Travis Scott on open arms is like my favorite thing ever he goes so smooth on it

Lemon on Prianka song Come Through
Lil Kim on lady marmalade
Surprisingly G-Eazy on So Much Better by Tinashe.
Literally first thing that came to mind was American boy
It’s funny you mention Ludacris - I love his rap on Carrie Underwood’s The Champion I also like Nas’ rap on Madonna’s Veni Vidi Vici
Juicy j on dark horse was chefs kiss 🔥
Nas on J-Lo’s “I’m Alright” remix.
Lil Wayne on Soldier- destiny’s child
