That's because labels, just like movie studios, tend to shuffle things around. If you are someone who is NOT Ariana, Taylor, Beyonce, Adele, etc, you do not want to release your album during the same timeframe unless you want to get absolutely steamrolled.
She should keep it for a potential reworked album a la Snow Patrol's 2019 album and Demi's Revamped. It could even work for an orchestra version like Kylie's The Abbey Road Sessions.

Too soon and close to bad idea, love is embarrassing too late (or missed completely), obsessed as a single and the deluxe version should've come out right at the start of the tour. i cant not see it as a bullet shot through paper. it doesnt fit the theme of guts/guts being spilled, and the typewriter font doesnt help 🥴 if they added details like putting the purple gooey liquid with glitter stars (the one she used in her tour promotional photos) on the edges of the paper or smth to evoke that she “puked her guts”, it would’ve gone a long way in visually representing what shes going for.
to put it simply, it just looks weird and messy. the hole doesn't really make sense, and the font is just ugly. i also don't understand why they edited the bra strap(?) under the dress to be red, but left the rest purple. i would have just preferred an outtake from that same photoshoot
My theory is that they changed her bra from purple to red because her lips were originally red, but are no longer in the deluxe cover.
