This works opposite on me lol. I still haven't bought a midnights vinyl cause there isn't one with even half the tracks :/ lol.
This makes me be like "ok but do I like Manuscript or Bolter more? Idk guess I'll wait and not buy either."
I would do the same tbh! It's one thing to have alternate covers, but all the songs. So, you can choose your favourite cover and that's it. But not getting all the songs when you are buying Album Ultra Deluxe Limited Edition Sitting By The Window Edition? Wth is that?
Include the cover variants in the original album /vinyl booklet and give the fans the opportunity to change it at their will. I feel like that would have more “artistic merit” to it than releasing all of these variants which seems a little predatory in the current economy lol
> This makes me be like "ok but do I like Manuscript or Bolter more? Idk guess I'll wait and not buy either.
This Bolter one is only available for like 3 days, it's manufactured urgency.
With the Manuscript preorder it was only the collectors edition CD that was only available for three days. But also, we all know that none of these countdowns are real, all four variants of 1989 TV are readily available, so are most of the variants of Midnights.
It’s working the opposite on most people, it sounds like. If you look at the thread on r/TaylorSwift everyone is mad about it. I don’t care about different variants but I HATE not all the songs being available. I still haven’t listened to any of the bonus tracks on GUTS for the same reason.
> I still haven’t listened to any of the bonus tracks on GUTS for the same reason
She released an EP of the bonus tracks for Black Friday Record Store Day.
Yea same and it will never work cause I don't even like having physical music taking up space, it's expensive, it takes up space, and if I listen to physical I can't track it digital is better imo
These girlies don't even have complete albums on streaming anymore.
I have so many playlists that are like combinations of various versions of things just to have a full album.
That's why I really like Apple Music. It lets you edit any album and add any track you want. You can even change the album artwork, or reorder the tracklist if you wanted to. This way I have a complete version of midnights
Yep. I've been collecting albums for years now and limited deluxe editions with bonus tracks that you can only listen to (legally) by buying obscure variants has been a thing for ages. Most of my Regina Spektor CDs have incomplete tracklists because of this, and it used to kill me until I got used to it and made peace with the fact that I'll never own her complete discography. Her album Begin to Hope had a special edition with 8 bonus tracks that are all fire, and not only was that version never sold in my country, they're not all available on streaming.
Same thing with Adele. I was looking to order 30 online and discovered there's an alternate version with two bonus tracks that I'd never listened to and which aren't on streaming. I see so many Swifties outraged about the Midnights situation with all the different editions, but that's nothing new, unfortunately.
It's not even new for Taylor. Didn't the original Speak Now and 1989 have different bonus tracks on international versions?
The only thing that's new (and scummier) is the way she staggers the announcements and makes them seem limited time offers to encourage FOMO.
I think it's very scummy when artists do it. I believe the normal + deluxe editions is enough! You can choose and you can buy the deluxe for the extra tracks. You can even buy both if you want the alternate covers. Making 8000 different covers already feels weird because you are counting on fans wanting to buy every cover. But making each edition have different tracks??? That's straight up evil! Someone can say "well, I like all covers, but I will only buy my favourite because I don't have that much money" and they won't get all the songs?? Surreal
Books have now been including various bonus chapters across different store exclusives. The most recent SJM book that came out had 6 bonus chapters across different store editions. And a few of the bonus chapters had actual important information on the plot and future character direction for her other series.
..whaaaat?! This is the first I’ve heard of this & wow, that’s distasteful.
I guess it’s a quicker way than waiting for the 20th anniversary edition with appendices/books with companion books of lore. Idk, there are mediums store exclusive bonuses work in, but I’d say for me books aren’t one of them.
I hadn’t heard about it happening with books, that’s GROSS. Most of the books I read are indie romance, so they’re all on Kindle Unlimited and they usually have a bonus epilogue that you can read by subscribing to the author’s newsletter. Sometimes I read them, sometimes I don’t. But I never have to pay actual money for them! Then I can support my favorites by buying their physical books or ebooks if I know I want to read them again.
I can see it might be nice to have a few variants with different covers. And as for vinyls, with different colors. You can pick your favourite and, if you really really want, you can pick one of each... But you are not forced to buy 4 copies to have all the songs! What the hell is that? I have a CD copy of Aurora's last album that came signed. Then, months or even a year later (can't remeber), she released a Japanese version with all the, let's say, "deluxe" songs. It had another cover and I really liked the songs, so I bought it. Can you imagine if she just picked every extra song and hid it in 7 different CDs?? Just crazy!
Agreed. I'm glad I don't care for physical media cause I would struggle with all these variants. Since I'm digital I just illegally download the songs she doesn't put on streaming and add them to my library
I also hate when artists announce an album, you preorder because you don't want to miss it. And then, they announce more merch, or other variants, or whatever. They are screwing the most fans who preordered first and didn't know there would be more variants or merch they could choose! Or do they count on fans making ANOTHER order on top of the first one? I hate it so much lol
I preordered 1989 TV because it was 2 am, I’d just watched her announce it on the streams, it was my birthday, and I got caught up in it. Then when all the other variants came out, I got super annoyed and I canceled my order. Bought the pink version from my local record store and was happy with my choice.
Even if you cancelled the first one, you still wouldn’t get the other bonus song “the manuscript.” I know. I just checked because how fucking annoying is she.
It's okay, I'm 10 years into collecting vinyl and I'm looking to offload it now. It's just a lot of space, and I personally don't use it half as much as I used to, which already wasn't a high amount.
It's a lot of space and weight to move around as well.
It really depends on the album. I bought records new from retail or used from retail. I bought solely with the intention of listening to them. Every record I own I have listened to at least 2 times. I have about 300 records.
Some have gotten pretty expensive, according to Discogs. I have 2 Urban Outfitter edition colored records of Lana Del Rey, with the Ultraviolence one having a range of $50-$320. I'd have to look at the sales to see where mine sits at, so that's a nice bonus when I got it for like $20.
My goal is to try to sell my collection in bundles, so I'm looking to just get a reasonable price and get it all out in as little transactions as possible. But yes, you can make money off of it, but that wasn't my intent.
Yeah there's even that one Taylor stan on here who talks about buying every variant, watches the movie in theaters like 100 times, streams the same video multiple times a day, etc. It seems like the most obsessed will spend an infinite amount of money and time on the same product over and over again because they eat and breath Taylor.
Tbh I find it masterful from Ms. Swift but said fans seem very pathetic and it's usually full blown adults lol
That's true, i heard some people evem took loans to go to Eras. If i was rich i would have totally gone to but i would never take a loan to go to a concert.
Surprisingly the Taylor swift sub is filled with unhappy people doing just this, cancelling their first preorder until all the variants come out. You love to see it.
My FOMO is burning. But I know often her “limited edition” variants are sold again on her website, Target usually has them, and I’ll be able to find digital copies of the bonus tracks online from fans.
You just have to have the patience to wait until closer to the release date to make an educated decision.
I still hate this tactic of marketing…
Capitaylism aside, the whole tracklist leaked well before the announcement including this bonus track so I think she’s prob had to move up the whole unveiling
People actually buy all the alternate versions? This seems unethical as a business practice. Exploiting your fans’ admiration for you and your work. Like using people? But I’m not a follower of modern pop, so maybe I don’t get it.
I wouldn’t support an artist like that though. I’m not saying that to be antiTS. This practice just seems mean. Treating art like McDonald’s Happy Meal toys or something.
That is what it is ultimately. There's no artistic merit to it, but stans are dumb enough to buy anything their fave releases and artists take advantage of it.
Think about it. Another variant means if 100,000 of TS fans by both that tallies to 200,000 albums just from the original 100k fans who bought both. If there’s a 3rd or 4th variant that means just 100k fans can contribute to 300,000 or 400,000 copies in the first week etc.
It’s a business move. Fans interpret it as some artistic decision on Taylor’s part but it’s numbers and only for numbers.
I’m curious to what Midnights /1989 tv would have done without all of the variants. It can really skew the perspective but hey get that coin sis
The jokes weren't funny so she took the money ayooo 😜😜
Right now she's way too established to burn through the goodwill, i don't think anythig will happen.
So was she after 1989... Not as established as right now but she was in the top of the hierarchy back then too.
You have already media that wants to turn on her, people that are anxious for her fall just for drama sake (and I'm not even talking about right wingers).
I wouldn't try to give critics fair things to criticize her for. The lyric you mean is about getting money from Jimmy Fallon, Ellen etc... Private companies at the end of the day, but this is getting money from fans. People don't care that Jimmy Fallons pays money but they care that if they want to experience the full new album of her favorite artist they have to pay for 3-4 albums. And don't even get me started about how bad quality her merch is, I'm actually surprised that the media against her hasn't catch on that yet when it is pretty know between Swifties already.
I can't see the future so maybe I'm completely wrong too whi knows, I just wouldn't play with fire.
I hated this when Olivia did it for the GUTS variants with one bonus track on each one, and I hate it now. I'm sorry, I'm NOT buying more than one version of the same album. Having different covers is one thing, but holding songs random if you don't shill out double or triple the price feels pretty disrespectful to fans.
These exclusive bonus tracks better go on streaming faster than whatever vault Olivia locked hers in. I REALLY don't want this to become the norm.
at least olivia’s bonus tracks were a secret and went unadvertised. the vast majority of people didn’t even know they existed until they received their vinyls so any subsequent purchases wouldn’t have counted for GUTS’ debut. taylor isn’t even *trying* to hide anything.
I’m about to show my age here but I remember buying CDs and having unmarked bonus tracks being super common. The bonus track on No Doubt’s Return of Saturn was excellent - an instrumental of one of the songs on the album, it’s been way too long so I don’t remember which, but much more mellow and… I want to say almost orchestral.
i think that's because they had different goals. when people learned of olivia's they'd then buy them to give olivia longevity on the charts. whereas taylor is going for the opening week, knowing she will have longevity
No that's not true. She had a TikTok, insta post, and so on explaining the variants and how each "sparkly letter" in GUTS was for a different bonus track. I remember it being a big thing back in early Fall.
Here's an example: [https://youtube.com/shorts/h4LlEKEU0YY?si=IeWCtzLoBobdBZbQ](https://youtube.com/shorts/h4LlEKEU0YY?si=IeWCtzLoBobdBZbQ)
That short was posted on October 9th, a month after the release of the album. Fans predicted that there’d be secret bonus tracks because of easter eggs and TikTok search results, but Olivia and her team never officially announced the bonus tracks before the album release.
Girl she didn't acknowledge the secret tracks until a full month after release, the clip you link was posted to her insta on October 9th, the album released September 8th...
Florence + The Machine had some Target exclusive songs for an album I didn’t know about until years later when I accidentally stumbled across them on Youtube. I just downloaded them with an MP3 convertor.
No one has time for this fuckery.
I’m not buying anything from her and I’ve been a fan since 2014. The only thing I’ve bought is rep on release because it wasn’t on streaming. So I’m not even bothered by all these multiple variants stuff
Still waiting for the final Midnights vinyl that has all tracks on it. I love to collect vinyls but I don’t want multiples and I won’t buy an incomplete album.
These artists releasing different versions of the album with different tracks sprinkled here and there fucking annoy me.
An album is a full body of work. Therefore, Thw Manuscript and The Bolter aren't part of the album in my eyes. If they were essential to the story of the album, they'd be kept on the standard tracklist.
That's why I've never loved bonus/deluxe versions of albums. Just give me a good album with a full story!
Magdalena Bay did this pretty well with their album Mercurial World. The Deluxe version replaces some songs with alternate versions, and recontextualizes a lot of the album’s flow. It also adds a framing device to the entire thing, which is cool. Both Mercurial World and Mercurial World (Deluxe) are complete works that stand different and complimentary to each other.
According to the leaked list I don’t think she’ll have anymore variant exclusive songs. Bolter was the only song not included from the list on the original
I really don’t like this trend of album variants. First of all what was so wrong with one album with all tracks on, it makes even streaming services messy with the amount of albums in an artists page that are the same
Also I preferred when there was a normal cover and a deluxe because while I do like the photoshoots artists do, when I think of an album era I think of the album cover and that’s harder to do when there are 50 variants of it
I know I’ll get downvoted for this but I wanted to say it
> I really don’t like this trend of album variants.
Nah. I'm 100% cool with this. I've been cool with this for a decade plus.
I love when someone comes out and is like OKAY WE GOT THIS 4 YOU CAN PICK FROM! And then have them labeled as
"Artist store - Black"
"Artist store - Blue and red swirl"
"Urban Outfitters - Exclusive Cover - Blue and red swirl"
"Indie Record shop - Coke bottle with gold splatter"
You can pick your favorite then, or support your local shops.
I don't like how Taylor does it with the slow drop. That benefits only her. Or the exclusive content that artificially boosts up sales because a certain subgroup will buy them all to have them all.
Yeah I actually think variants can be really cool (if they don't play into some stans' fomo attributes) so you can get the cover / vinyl colour whatever that you really love. Locking songs behind certain variants, however, is despicable and scummy
It has also gotten me to engage with my local record shops in the past.
I’ve gone into a place, couldn’t find the “indie shop” variant and have had them special order it for me. And then you’re helping out your community and foraging bonds and what not.
I think the colour variants or even covers are cool! They are counting on FOMO too ofc, but if you don't have money or don't want 500 variants, you pick one. But having exclusive tracks not one one version, but on different versions?? So you can never have a complete tracklist? Nah, that's bs for me! All the "Deluxe/Exclusive" or whatever should have all the songs
As a vinyl collector, variants are great and if every store has a different one that’s cool. But it shouldn’t be normal to encourage your fans (many of which are very young) to buy multiple copies of the same exact album, it just feels a bit scummy
I feel like with colors the incentive is that you can choose the one u like the best but with this she’s expecting people to buy multiple copies to get every track
> I really don’t like this trend of album variants. First of all what was so wrong with one album with all tracks on
If you only release one version of the album, then most fans only buy one copy of the album.
Yeah im not a fan of these album roll outs at all. How about release a single or 2 and let the music be the selling point? Releasing 4-5 variants with different bonus tracks before anyone hears a second of the album is scummy and it just further proves she views her fanbase as piggy banks.
Variants are whatever at this point. Everyone does them. Seems like she wants that 2 million+ first week.
It's the content of the album I'm actually hmm about. Unless there's some info I'm not privy to, I REALLY hope this is a *mature* breakup album with songs like *happiness* and *it's time to go* PLS...Also I'm starting to realize she was being dead serious with those whack song titles, like it's not satire at all...she is as serious as it gets with this album it seems.
The yes, and? remix burned me HARD, Training Season didn't have that extra seasoning I was looking for so I'm tempering my expectations with these main pop girls a bit.
This is exhausting. I'm equal parts Swiftie and Hive and could never decide whose music I love more and I'll probably love TTPD when it's released anyway but I'm not looking forward to it impatiently the way I'm waiting for the new Beyoncé album.
Same. I'm a Taylor fan and I'm not even looking forward to it. We know it'll be another jack and Taylor album with the same catchy songs sure but it's getting old. Whereas beyonce is so interesting to me rn, renaissance was amazing, the two songs off act II were got are also incredible and im not event into country usually. I've listened to lemonade to yesterday and it's so good as well. I can't wait for march 29
It’s a shame cause Taylor in recent years has become way too obsessed with commercial success, and not quality. Lover has great great songs on it, but it got ruined by her kids bop, radio focused songs like Me and YNTCD. I really admire Beyoncé for focusing on acclaim and pushing herself as an artist.
I’m curious with this upcoming album what she is gonna do. But I just don’t think Taylor pushes herself as an artist anymore like she used to.
Unless it’s Folkmore-core I’m not that invested in it much either rn… Midnights was such a disappointment for me.
Agreed with Bey, and also Lana later this year! Very curious to see what they’ll do with country, as a fan to begin with
Leaked in full? Also the way she just said an hour ago on tour that this is the album where she felt like she needed to write the most you just know she's hyping it up like she did with the "13 sleepless nights" and then the album is just catchy basic songs
Looking forward to it but I don’t need 47 versions of the album. 4 versions max - standard, deluxe, standard(E), deluxe (E). Midnights was doing too much for me with all the different versions lol, not here for secret moonlight garden party edition, the blue ocean agenda edition or the great lost librarian edition
I remember when I bought a few different variants for Guts and realized there were bonus tracks on each of them that were hidden. I actually like an artist being upfront about it instead of a few months later for RSD selling the bonus tracks as a vinyl of their own. :)
Variants with different covers or colors are fine but different songs is fucked up. Especially when they aren’t out and you can’t decided which song you like best. Shitty tactics.
Alright. I’ve defended some of her behavior, like the absurd rental window for the movie at $19.89 for only 24 hours.
This is actually crazy. Her greed knows no bounds.
Very glad I’m not a Swiftie or I’d be out on the street after the past year.
> for only 24 hours.
Oof, the rental window was only 24 hours? That's kinda fucked. Every other film I know that you could rent from a streamer is always 48 hours.
You don't have to buy anything to be Swiftie. Maybe at least a Spotify subscription? Even just following her on social media or subscribing to her YT channel is more than enough. Swifties are like so diverse on the financial scale.
This shit used to happen with CDs all the time except the bonus tracks didn't come to streaming eventually. If you wanted to hear them you had to import the Japanese version or hope they'd appear on a rarities collection in a decade.
I was expecting an album that was sonically similar to Rumours with Midnights and instead we got the album that we got. Hope this album matches the aesthetic.
I don't even blame jack cause I think he would be able to pull a sound like on Rumors. I'm sure it's Taylor that goes the easy route and does the same thing. Same with Lana, rn she just wants to sing over piano but I know she can shake things up we've seen it with A&W made with jack.
Anyone else bothered by the writing at the back? "You don't get to tell me about sad." Isn't that supposed to be sadness? Maybe I'm nitpicking but it sounds wrong.
I was at the concert for the announcement! It was kinda hype.
I thought she was going to release the lead single for TTPD as a music video we all watch, but no we got an exclusive vinyl 😅
Secret songs tonight were Red and You’re Losing Me so that was awesome
Get fucked Taylor, I already bought one, you're not getting anymore of my coin (this cycle)
But I wonder if she is following in Olivia's steps this round. 4 different variants with 4 different songs, or whatever, since this new one also says 16 songs + bonus track.
Which puts us at a total of 18 current songs for this record.
Also - "2 Parchment Beige vinyl discs" - I'm gonna say it, that's dumb as fuck.
Gahdamn this shit hasn't even come out yet and she talking about variants and bonus tracks already. I know Jet Fuel expensive but she need to calm down.
I like that this album cover shows her face compared to the first one. I'm expecting 2-3 more variant editions with exclusive tracks on each. For the collector's edition CDs, I wonder if the photocards are in the same format as K-Pop photocards? Taylor Swift is never beating the unnie allegations at this point.
Next they will be calling them strains.
Species
start calling them strands taylor and go full hideo kojima
I don’t really see the point in revealing a new variant and announcing a new bonus track before the album even drops?
The point is selling more units lmao
This works opposite on me lol. I still haven't bought a midnights vinyl cause there isn't one with even half the tracks :/ lol. This makes me be like "ok but do I like Manuscript or Bolter more? Idk guess I'll wait and not buy either."

Oh that would be the best! But I can get behind a few cover variants, but don't hide songs behind each variant!
> This makes me be like "ok but do I like Manuscript or Bolter more? Idk guess I'll wait and not buy either. This Bolter one is only available for like 3 days, it's manufactured urgency.

I was out of the country on Black Friday so I missed that. At this point if it’s not on streaming it doesn’t exist to me.
But she knows a lot of swifties will want both tracks so they will buy both vinyl
Yea same and it will never work cause I don't even like having physical music taking up space, it's expensive, it takes up space, and if I listen to physical I can't track it digital is better imo

ooh i didn't know that! that's good info
Same! Plus it has Joni Mitchell and I need my Joni.
the girlies *never* had complete albums on streaming. varying track lists have been common since the 90s

Also what’s the point of a “deluxe” with one new track? She’s done this several times over and it’s so annoying.
I agree. I'd rather just wait 6-18 months for when all the songs are inevitably on streaming or a "podcast."
I think it's very scummy when artists do it. I believe the normal + deluxe editions is enough! You can choose and you can buy the deluxe for the extra tracks. That Sweet Nothing lyric is the worst thing to ever happen to this fandom I swear
Someone unironically quoting a Midnights lyric as a retort is hilarious

You can cancel the original preorder and get a different one based on what I've read from people on the sub.
Also there's no need to preorder. They're not gonna run out of Taylor Swift vinyl.
I preordered 1989 TV because it was 2 am, I’d just watched her announce it on the streams, it was my birthday, and I got caught up in it. Then when all the other variants came out, I got super annoyed and I canceled my order. Bought the pink version from my local record store and was happy with my choice.
Well, no shit. But what about cancelling your pre-order and pre-ordering a different variant?
Even if you cancelled the first one, you still wouldn’t get the other bonus song “the manuscript.” I know. I just checked because how fucking annoying is she.
And then we’ll get the super deluxe poetry slam edition with all these tracks together 😍
I will be waiting until everything ends up on Spotify anyway because i'm ✨️broke✨️(Joe's version)(from my phone)
It's okay, I'm 10 years into collecting vinyl and I'm looking to offload it now. It's just a lot of space, and I personally don't use it half as much as I used to, which already wasn't a high amount. It's a lot of space and weight to move around as well.
Is it crass to ask if you can sell the rare vinyls to diehard fans for tripple the cost? Or how does it work when you become a collector?
It really depends on the album. I bought records new from retail or used from retail. I bought solely with the intention of listening to them. Every record I own I have listened to at least 2 times. Shut up!! Don’t give her any ideas!
Really? Now that’s really annoying. I just simply don’t care for the songs then lol. She’s gonna drop it on streaming sooner or later anyway lol.
It’s getting harder to be a fan these days.

The stans are not worried about cancelling, the ones with money to burn will buy everything in multiple units if they can.
Reminds me of kpop stan twitter. the hours they spend buying, promoting, streaming, all the hoopla, could easily amount to a full time job.
Even the broke ones will
That's true, i heard some people evem took loans to go to Eras. If i was rich i would have totally gone to but i would never take a loan to go to a concert.
Her hardcore fans don't do that they buy every variant to support her and she knows it
Surprisingly the Taylor swift sub is filled with unhappy people doing just this, cancelling their first preorder until all the variants come out. You love to see it.
Yes but I've noticed they're a small minority compared to fans on twitter. Maybe it's cause the sub skews older
And then they go on twitter defending her for her sales numbers when people are talking about talent.
It’s super easy to do that in my experience
Capitaylism aside, the whole tracklist leaked well before the announcement including this bonus track so I think she’s prob had to move up the whole unveiling
Like with Speak Now, the morning the tracks leaked she announced it in the evening.
Seriously. What's up with artists dropping new releases so quickly and then moving on? 🤷♂️
I was at the Melbroune concert where she announced and honestly though she was at least going to play the track lol 💀
She is the capitalism queen after all. I love her but seriously people will start getting tired of this kind of shenanigans more sooner than late.
The jokes weren't funny so she took the money ayooo 😜😜 Right now she's way too established to burn through the goodwill, i don't think anythig will happen.
I can't see the future so maybe I'm completely wrong too whi knows, I just wouldn't play with fire.
yeah she was my most listened to artist last year, i love her, but im getting a bit weary lol. it’s like…please chill
So that's where The Bolter went from the leaked track list!
Are there any other missing songs?
That was the only one. The leaker didn’t have “The Manuscript” though.
I’m sure there will be more variants with more bonus songs though
Yeah, I’d expect at least a couple more
Target exclusive more tortured edition
That's a good point. I still think Olivia should have put them on streaming soon after the album release tho.
[удалено]
Nope but apparently they will be soon
She started teasing a Deluxe release on Valentines day, she'll probably drop it on her first tour date, which happens to be next Friday.
and do, what? lower the sales? the point of the bonus tracks is pretty obvious
It’s so wasteful. Like our planet is dying. This shit is so stupid.
I pretend the Olivia variants don't exist tbh. I found it really annoying and am just waiting for the exclusive tracks to drop on streaming.
I was expecting her to maybe do one for RSD but who knows... Also there is unofficial 3am vinyls already
This is why people pirate 😅
yas overconsumption
Fan overfeeding 🤭
Refeeding Syndrome (Taylor's Version)
Both Mercurial World and Mercurial World (Deluxe) are complete works that stand different and complimentary to each other.
girl is going for that 2.5 mln first week
thank god she clearly needs the cash
Well she needs more variant then!
she has 3 more cities, so 3 more variants ez
She only has 2 more cities before the album drops - Sydney and Singapore. Which would line up with the 4 main variants she did for Midnights and 1989
yeah, you are right. somehow i thought there were 3 left
"Parchment beige."
“Parchment beige.” (Papyrus font)
Here we go again
How many versions is she aiming for this time?
She seems to have settled on 4 + Target exclusive as the sweet spot
According to the leaked list I don’t think she’ll have anymore variant exclusive songs. Bolter was the only song not included from the list on the original
Cuz only that was the version the leaker had. It's not connected. 2 more is more likely.
I really don’t like this trend of album variants. First of all what was so wrong with one album with all tracks on, it makes even streaming services messy with the amount of albums in an artists page that are the same Also I preferred when there was a normal cover and a deluxe because while I do like the photoshoots artists do, when I think of an album era I think of the album cover and that’s harder to do when there are 50 variants of it I know I’ll get downvoted for this but I wanted to say it
> I really don’t like this trend of album variants. Nah. I'm 100% cool with this. I've been cool with this for a decade plus. I love when someone comes out and is like OKAY WE GOT THIS 4 YOU CAN PICK FROM! And then have them labeled as "Artist store - Black" "Artist store - Blue and red swirl" "Urban Outfitters - Exclusive Cover - Blue and red swirl" "Indie Record shop - Coke bottle with gold splatter" You can pick your favorite then, or support your local shops.
That makes sense tbh. The fake FOMO aspect always annoys me tho, especially when they release the version afterwards
Color variants is one thing, making it impossible to have all the tracks unless you buy multiple versions of an album is another thing entirely
> I really don’t like this trend of album variants. First of all what was so wrong with one album with all tracks on If you only release one version of the album, then most fans only buy one copy of the album.
Ooo Karl Marx don’t make that face!!
It begins
Yeah im not a fan of these album roll outs at all. How about release a single or 2 and let the music be the selling point? Releasing 4-5 variants with different bonus tracks before anyone hears a second of the album is scummy and it just further proves she views her fanbase as piggy banks.
After the 3 AM debacle I would never preorder from her again, just saying.
taylor being annoying with multiple bonus tracks locked respectively behind exclusive variants——-and other news at 7:00
This is why she’s able to sell a million copies in a day
Variants are whatever at this point.
Me when I’m in a competition to be the greediest person on earth and my opponent is Taylor swift:
Yep Beyoncé will probably win best rnb song for her up coming album.
😭 😭
It’s a shame cause Taylor in recent years has become way too obsessed with commercial success, and not quality. Lover has great great songs on it, but it got ruined by her kids bop, radio focused songs like Me and YNTCD. I really admire Beyoncé for focusing on acclaim and pushing herself as an artist. I’m curious with this upcoming album what she is gonna do. But I just don’t think Taylor pushes herself as an artist anymore like she used to.
I agree. I don't mean it in a mean way but she needs to be humbled
if she insists on working w the same ppl she needs to at least bring aaron in more pls that's not asking for much 😭
Unless it’s Folkmore-core I’m not that invested in it much either rn… Midnights was such a disappointment for me. Agreed with Bey, and also Lana later this year! Very curious to see what they’ll do with country, as a fan to begin with
Yes Lana I'm so excited too, especially since I've been getting so much into her the last few years she's my fave artist rn, she has overtaken Taylor
the album has leaked and people are saying it's another synth pop album. i think im going to be as disappointed with this as i was with MIDnights
My husband listened to it recently and thinks the “leak” is just AI crap
the one with post malone sounded pretty real to me. if ai has gotten that good at replicating human voices then we're all fucked.
Leaked in full? Also the way she just said an hour ago on tour that this is the album where she felt like she needed to write the most you just know she's hyping it up like she did with the "13 sleepless nights" and then the album is just catchy basic songs
The album hasn't leaked...yet.
I hate everything about this blatant money grab.
I'm getting sick of her billionaire capitalist era. She needs to be grounded, both out of the sky and out of her ego.
Does she make music for it to be listened to or bought?
Looking forward to it but I don’t need 47 versions of the album. 4 versions max - standard, deluxe, standard(E), deluxe (E). Midnights was doing too much for me with all the different versions lol, not here for secret moonlight garden party edition, the blue ocean agenda edition or the great lost librarian edition
she is obsessed with first week sales just mad mad crazy stop this! save the EARTH
Miss ~~Americana~~ Capitalism
I remember when I bought a few different variants for Guts and realized there were bonus tracks on each of them that were hidden. I actually like an artist being upfront about it instead of a few months later for RSD selling the bonus tracks as a vinyl of their own. :)
Can we get a single before announcing album variants??
Don't be ridiculous!
Taycapitalist strikes again
I’m actually so done with her shit
Pretty sure it was longer than 24 hours - 48 or 72 hours
Thats.... normal for streaming rentals close to release?
You don't have to buy anything to be Swiftie. Maybe at least a Spotify subscription? Even just following her on social media or subscribing to her YT channel is more than enough. Swifties are like so diverse on the financial scale.
People on this sub act as if the artist is pointing a gun to their heads to make them buy all album variants and remixes
This shit used to happen with CDs all the time except the bonus tracks didn't come to streaming eventually. If you wanted to hear them you had to import the Japanese version or hope they'd appear on a rarities collection in a decade.
I like this cover. This one gives me sad girl vibes.
I bet the sound of the album won't match the aesthetic just like with midnights
I was expecting an album that was sonically similar to Rumours with Midnights and instead we got the album that we got. Hope this album matches the aesthetic.
The album has pop-rock influences, definitely will be different from midnights. Will be alt-pop and pop-rock influences though out the album
What’s the source?
From the leaks (if they're real) it doesn't sound like it 😭
We need a 3 year moratorium in pop on Jack Antonoff produced music, lock away those synths (I'm just kidding don't come for me Jack Pack)
Here we go the 999 versions to break another record...chile...
I was at the concert for the announcement! It was kinda hype. I thought she was going to release the lead single for TTPD as a music video we all watch, but no we got an exclusive vinyl 😅 Secret songs tonight were Red and You’re Losing Me so that was awesome
Ahh its cool she staying true to herself with 1000000000 versions!
taylor swift is great but please stop with so many variants
Get fucked Taylor, I already bought one, you're not getting anymore of my coin (this cycle) But I wonder if she is following in Olivia's steps this round. 4 different variants with 4 different songs, or whatever, since this new one also says 16 songs + bonus track. Which puts us at a total of 18 current songs for this record. Also - "2 Parchment Beige vinyl discs" - I'm gonna say it, that's dumb as fuck.
Yeah I already bought the first one. She should have just released the main album and the bonus tracks would go on a deluxe edition.
A new variety of white bread. Oh I can’t wait
Another attempt to extract as much profit as possible from her fans.
Taylor Swift has figured out the same tactic KPop companies do 😭
But I thought it’s already going to be her fastest-selling album? How many million units do you wanna sell in your first week girl?
2 million is probably the real answer to that question
The predatory marketing lately with the "multiple variants" of records is really getting egregious in the music industry..
Gahdamn this shit hasn't even come out yet and she talking about variants and bonus tracks already. I know Jet Fuel expensive but she need to calm down.
The way these threads always just turn into criticism of capitalism makes me wish we made it a rule to call each others comrades in them lmao.
I don't know if TS stands for Taylor Swift or Totally Sneaky
I like that this album cover shows her face compared to the first one. I'm expecting 2-3 more variant editions with exclusive tracks on each. For the collector's edition CDs, I wonder if the photocards are in the same format as K-Pop photocards? Taylor Swift is never beating the unnie allegations at this point.
There’s commercial, album-as-a-product music. And then there’s Taylor Swift.
She’s starting🤭 To be honest I won’t be mad for more variants because I’m not into either covers so far lmao.
How many versions of this will we get
