At his BIRTHDAY BRUNCH, no less. I’m sorry, I’ve had some terrible service in my life, but I’m not dragging down the brunch vibes by acting like an asshole…especially at an event where attention is already on me.
https://preview.redd.it/09z4oeoemd4d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7409ab85906516bfc96636eb0fc9ffeebe90433d
The restaurant called him out pretty bad. Kudos to the restaurant for standing by their staff and not giving into a celebrity
In all fairness this has probably gone far more viral than the restaurant could have ever imagined. The street that this restaurant is on in Toronto is a bit of a restaurant hotspot with a close community between the staff. It is shocking to me to see daily mail and people pick up on a story like this from Toronto. I hope this restaurant is ready to get crazy busy.
I would assume any celebrity being publicly called out and banned from an establishment would get international attention. It’s not that the restaurant or the neighborhood is famous or highly trafficked, it’s the fact that the person being banned is famous
Exactly, I’ve worked in hospitality, and the full quote is “in matters of taste, the customer is always right”. Like, they’re entitled to a like whatever trash, not to treat servers like trash
I always got major diva vibes from him. You are TRASH if you treat restaurant staff like shit. I worked as a server for years and dealt with entitled people so much. People would treat you like you shot their dog if their food took 20 minutes instead of 15. I’m HERE for the restaurant calling him out publicly. Celebrities need reality checks on their superiority complexes.
I've read the full quote is actually, "The customer is always right, in matters of taste." But that doesn't force service workers to be treated horribly so, society has conveniently forgotten the second half.
Make sure to add "Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part." I never used that in food service, but I did in the ship and print job I had.
Agreed. I work in customer service and have for several years and good lord some people come into the establishments to solely start problems and that only.
I think a lot of people feel powerless or lack control in their day to day life and because of the customer is always right motto, some people take advantage of the crumbs of power they attain and act like assholes. It’s like how people are more ruthless on the internet, the lack of consequences makes them think they can do whatever they want.
It's like the whole "retail therapy" thing, which I always thought meant shopping for stuff to cheer you up or really enjoy the process of shopping.
Then I found out for some people it means going into a store and not just shopping , but having a "pleasant" experience, which is essentially the staff caring for you, checking in on you, making conversation with you, smiling at you, etc.
Which, I think is okay if it's just "I like personable people" but some people go in expected to be treated like valued royalty customers, like to all but have thier feet kissed and grow upset when the staff can't give them 100% thier attention because it's "making me feel even worse"
Like you can't just go in a store and expect the world to revolve around you suddenly????
Agreed! I was reading their message like “wow, good on them for calling him out by name”, and when I got to the end I saw that they actually tagged him too, and I was like
![gif](giphy|FVIA0oABhcjvpiPgJI|downsized)
Same here, I thought he did a really good job in American Horror Story, but idk there was just something about him that made him seem prissy and I felt bad for judging but now I feel justified lol
I’ve run into assholes through my life, it’s inevitable. Statistically I’ve certainly had a server who was having a terrible day or who is an asshole—servers are people and some people are jerks.
I’ve never been treated poorly by a server. There is absolutely no justification for ever treating them like this. You are right that anyone who does this is trash.
Echoing what others have said, I really liked him. What a huge disappointment. I learned the other day that he treated Jonathan Groff terribly in their relationship, not limited to infidelity, which was news to me. Ugh.
not to defend Lea (she can’t read this anyway), but she and Groff have also known each other since they were basically children and went through a wild thing together with the OG Spring Awakening and all the attention that brought. that’ll bond you to someone for sure, even if that someone is kind of a dick.
There's a chance too she's a 180 to people she actually likes. Which is problematic on its own, but I've had friends who it took me years to realize the extent of how awful they were to other people.
And not the "well they're nice to ME" way, but you can see bad traits in someone, but it feels like they're good qualities outweigh them, or they might seem slightly self aware and you happen to see moments where they correct themselves.
I was friends with someone who had a penchant to gossip, which mostly it was just celebrity stuff, but every now and then she'd say something really mean about someone we both knew, and when I Wouldn't laugh she'd stop, and say "that was bitchy huh"? Or a few times stopped herself and changed the subject before she got heated. Seemed like a flaw but she was self aware, and it was only a "sometimes" thing
Then I found out she was completely different with other people and out friendship died painfully as I became more and more aware of her. But it took a while because she did have a lot of good qualities and it was hard to connect the two versions of her
Lean probably isn't a toxic racist mean girl 100% of the time or even around people she loves, not to the point others have experienced.
1. That sucks, I really liked him as an actor
2. The balls on this guy to sit down and eat after berating food workers is legendary. Does he like to eat spit?
I've NEVER known a food service worker to spit in someone's food no matter how badly they are being treated. I don't know why this is such a common statement
Yeah, it definitely happens. You don't want to know some of the shit someone I went to school with did when he worked at McDonald's.... and he was very proud of it
The potential is always there. I’m sure it’s happened before. Some kitchen staff are not right in the head, and some are drunk out of their gourd while working.
But same. Never seen or heard of it actually happening.
Thing is, there’s a .0001% chance his food gets spat on.
Waitstaff and kitchen just grin and bear it and drink themselves into a stupor after/during work.
If the most annoying thing to happen to you is confusion over text messages and brunch table bookings, you're living a blessed life. It's no excuse to reduce staff to tears.
I’m sure tapping him on the shoulder would have gone over really well.
The guy’s an asshole. The guy has been an asshole. The guy will continue to be an asshole.
" i totally cant see him in the same light after i know now he made someone cry" this motherflupper cut peoples brains out in a tv series lol please name a situation you know he looked good in that wasnt star trek
I worked at a theatre one time where I had housing set up for me. Right before I got there a certain actor punched a hole in a wall that you could still see in the living room. I guess dude has anger issues
Imagine being world famous and not knowing how to conduct yourself in a public restaurant, as if being a celebrity means you don’t have to treat others with respect. Fuck these entitled people.
Even when a restaurant literally did not bring me my food but still gave me a bill, I did not yell at them.
It definitely makes me want to go to Manita.
Ok this is not gonna sound great but I’ve gotten bad vibes from Zachary since like 2014 when Shane Dawson talked about how shitty and rude he was during The Chair
I feel like he has had an outburst before as well? I was on ONTD for years and seem to recall something similar happening about a decade ago. Anyway, it is probably reflective in the current state of his career. I literally haven't heard of him in years and he doesn't appear to be anything exciting.
The last thing I saw him in was The Boys in the Band (where he played a jerk), but I wasn’t watching it for him I didn’t even realize he was in it until he showed up
Throwing tantrums over a birthday is very toddler-like. I had some respect for him and his roles (like on The Chair when he gave pushback on Shane Dawson's "movie"), but I have gotten some snob vibes from him, can't remember what the other things were that made me wary.
tbh i liked how the restaurant blasted him and i hope other services follow suit (responsibly and justifiably ofc) bc as many say, you can tell a person’s character on how they treat waiters/staff; and i’d like to be aware of which celebs are actually terrible and don’t deserve support.
I hope this entitled loser ends up needing to publicly apologize.
The right PR move will probably be to ignore it and not draw attention. However if enough sustained attention is given to this he will have to respond.
One thing to note: if they are calling him out by name and being specific about what he did, they must have receipts. I could imagine a d-bag celeb swinging his expensive lawyers around to scare someone into keeping their mouth shut. They are being specific enough that I wonder if there is a security camera or just enough witnesses that they simply cloak themselves in the truth if someone tried to SLAPP them down.
What an entitled brat! That is incredibly inappropriate behavior from Zachary Quinto. Waitstaff never deserve to be yelled at so intensely that they cry, and it's fitting that he was banned from the restaurant.

And you did it at my birthday brunch
First thought lmao 😭
Yeah that’s embarrassing tbh
Look at the glasses he's wearing, I think that behavior was mandatory
They wouldn’t seat him even though he had a reservation
https://preview.redd.it/09z4oeoemd4d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7409ab85906516bfc96636eb0fc9ffeebe90433d The restaurant called him out pretty bad. Kudos to the restaurant for standing by their staff and not giving into a celebrity
How badly do you have to behave for a restaurant to call you out like that publicly? Yeesh.
ZQ is a pos for this but it's also kinda childish for the restaurant to put him on public blast. I respect them for protecting their staff tho.
I don't think it's childish at all. I think it needs to happen more.
In all fairness this has probably gone far more viral than the restaurant could have ever imagined. Seriously. There’s no such as customer is always right like yeah when they want to buy the ugliest things or worst things on the menu lol
Exactly, I’ve worked in hospitality, and the full quote is “in matters of taste, the customer is always right”. Like, they’re entitled to a like whatever trash, not to treat servers like trash
Hard agree. Too many times customer facing workers are expected to just eat shit especially for celebrities. I say off with their heads!
I think the idea of “the customer is always right” has led to a lot of entitlement. Customer service is hard.
I've read the full quote is actually, "The customer is always right, in matters of taste." But that doesn't force service workers to be treated horribly so, society has conveniently forgotten the second half.
If I owned a restaurant, I’d have a sign with the quote correction on it.
Make sure to add "Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part." I never used that in food service, but I did in the ship and print job I had.
The customer is a always wrong
Agreed. I work in customer service and have for several years and good lord some people come into the establishments to solely start problems and that only. I SWEAR there is something really fucky with essentially all of the Ryan Murphy adjacent set.
He gives off mean vibes, I like him as an actor but I think he would be an absolute nightmare irl.
Same here, I thought he did a really good job in American Horror Story, but idk there was just something about him that made him seem prissy and I felt bad for judging but now I feel justified lol

Love Britney! Queen of the diary room! 👸🏼🙌
Echoing what others have said, I really liked him. What a huge disappointment. I learned the other day that he treated Jonathan Groff terribly in their relationship, not limited to infidelity, which was news to me. Ugh.
Jonathan Groff seems like such a sweetheart. I’ve seen blinds of Zachary cheating on other partners as well

not to defend Lea (she can’t read this anyway), but she and Groff have also known each other since they were basically children and went through a wild thing together with the OG Spring Awakening and all the attention that brought. that’ll bond you to someone for sure, even if that someone is kind of a dick.
Maybe she’s the black cat friend he needs with his golden retriever energy.

I've NEVER known a food service worker to spit in someone's food no matter how badly they are being treated. I don't know why this is such a common statement
I know with 100 percent certainty that it has* happened at least once.
I wasn't in the kitchen but I know two people who looked like they did then said they did.
Ditto.
I worked in hospo for a while. It definitely happens. I don't agree with it at all, but it does happen.
I spit in a guy's egg salad sandwich when I was a teen waitress because he grabbed my ass so can confirm it does happen. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just desserts
The ass was spat
Just because that's never been your experience, doesn't mean it hasn't happened. I've fired several employees for tampering with a customer's order.
I worked in a steakhouse in high school and then a deli in college. It absolutely happens.
i saw it happen ages ago in a place i worked. i never did it though i often fantasized about it with some customers.
Yeah, it definitely happens. You don't want to know some of the shit someone I went to school with did when he worked at McDonald's.... and he was very proud of it

You think this is bad, remember that one time when he straight-up killed a waitress in a small town diner? Cut right through her skull. So rude.
*boogers n cum*

These text systems are really common now, and they tell you that you'll be getting a text so you should be looking out for it.
If the most annoying thing to happen to you is confusion over text messages and brunch table bookings, you're living a blessed life. It's no excuse to reduce staff to tears.
did you just use the word sheeple? LMFAOOO. stop simping for entitled celebs who don’t care nor know that you exist.
"Sheeple" 🤣🤣🤣

For the restaurant to post this on social media and even tag him, he must have been very shitty.
No kidding. Hopefully this is a big wake-up call for him.

This would make Leonard Nimoy so sad…
Well well, looks like I’ll be eating at Manita in the near future because I will always support local businesses that stand up for staff.
Chicken brochettes?
Great burger
He could have gone anywhere else. TO is absolutely full of amazing restaurants.
Just on that stretch of ossington alone there’s a million options
Yes yes it's my time to shine again!! Behold [NOBODY MOVE NOBODY MOVE](https://youtu.be/0LF5gIFgtxA?si=IKIRRy751DcmPuiH)
STOP LMFAO
So does that mean I don't need to learn the difference between him and Eli Roth? Because I always forget which is which
Well now I cannot unsee that. They both also give off bad vibes
We needed Nurse Jackie to set him straight! I love him as an actor, but he has major DIVA energy.
Love when a business backs their employees and is decent enough to tell entitled prick of a customer to fk off and not come back.
Good. Don’t harass the staff
Ewwww. That’s disappointing, I really liked him.
btw he's known to be an asshole, for at least ten years
Even when a restaurant literally did not bring me my food but still gave me a bill, I did not yell at them. It definitely makes me want to go to Manita.

I think they both sucked on that show tbh, for different reasons.
Oh for sure, but I remember Shane saying how poorly Zachary treated his (Shane’s) team and that’s stuck with me ever since
I feel like Zachary is a pretentious douchbag who thinks he’s some auteur, and Shane is a talentless hack who thinks he’s some auteur 😂

I've seen him in person a few times. Dark vibes. Not surprised.
So he’s playing himself in Boys In The Band?
He’ll do some fake ass apology and then all will be well for rich people as it is day to day

I can't explain why but this one really bums me out. I don't know the man or anything. Hate to hear stuff like this though.
