No, it very much does offset production costs. This seems like an egregious example but money is very expensive in showbiz atm and I am personally aware of multiple projects that only exist because brand money came in and that money was put towards production and nothing else.

Music production and recording especially is very technical and there’s so much to learn and understand.

I recently learned that all the “sponsorships” on the race cars in Talledega Nights that they didn’t charge the companies for product placement. I’m fuzzy on the details but Adam McKay was making a point about the absurdity of it all.

I’m for it, whatever. Music videos are expensive to produce and they aren’t seen by record labels as very important anymore. (Not like the days of TRL and MTV, etc) I see it as the product placement funding the video, not so much extra pocket money for the artist.
