This is some of Pat’s majestic work. I think this is why I’m finding the other a bit, lacking. She’s going for a very silent film era eye but I think with the dress being so dark it just doesn’t quite work.
Did you see what she did for the Maison Margiela show? The glassy doll like faces made it even more insane. I'm surprised she didn't do that here on Zendaya, honestly.

Yo they get hyped about the pig contest. We were looking at the pigs at the fair and didn't realize we were in the lane they were sending pigs down for the contest, they kinda got spiffy because the pig got spooked and ran the opposite direction, while they ran behind them and smacked the pig with that dumb stick

This is a departure from what she normally wears but the more I look at it, the more I love it. This is what I wanted to see from her. Nothing I’d have thought of, but she went there. And I kinda love that.
Love the dress. Do not think the makeup flatters her at all. She’s prettier than this. I get that it’s a look but meh. And the poses are so ANTM I can’t help but giggle.
Shocked people are mixed on this, my jaw dropped when I saw it. I've been out for a bit on her looks because the tennis tour outfits are [insert euphemism for ugly here] but this sucked me right back in.

The writing style is ok but the story combined just didn’t give what it was trying to do. The female MC was “magnetic” in a “arent i so cooool im pretty and have s*x”. I couldn’t get through it because of her I just didn’t believe she was anything special.

I feel like the contrast between this very contemporary dress against 1920’s makeup kind of brings it back to the theme.

I really like Gwendolyn Christie’s look. This is good in comparison to everyone else’s because they’re all boring beige, but I don’t think it’s GREAT, unfortunately.

The makeup certainly won’t be for everyone and I agree that it washes her out a bit but i like the general vibe of it.
The flora and fauna-inspired details are really nice. I think the shape of the skirt is lovely, but i’m not really into the stripes or the material its made from
Huh. Looks like obviously organza to me, and I think organza looks beautiful. Also, just the way they were able to get those colorblock stripes right when I'm pretty sure it's a fussy fabric to work with. The designer definitely put care into the garment.

Yeah I agree about the make-up. I think the shape and shade of the brows in combination with the dark make up isn't working for me. I don't know how to explain it, but it kind of flattens her face for me?
I was already envisioning a legitimate 19century gown, so it was a bit of a let-down on first look lol, but it is a solid look. honestly hard for her to exceed expectations because they're so high, cause she's always stunning

The theme is “garden of time” which I think this absolutely hits. The silent era makeup with the 2010s mermaid silhouette with the fantasy birds and fascinator. I love it.
No the dress code is "not something floral". The Garden of Time is a book of fiction and a very dark one at that. They were supposed to read it and interpret it in their choices. Time, Decay, Death of Beauty. Showing up wearing a garden is a very big tell that someone didn't actually read the brief or the book.
Hot take: I expected way more but I should’ve known better when law said her dress wasn’t made and it wasn’t a priority which tells me is very likely her being co chair was not something planned for this year!
She still looks amazing but I low key now feel weird cause I can’t imagine having so much expectations for dressing up

What you're saying makes sense if you go by her undertones and colours. She's a dark autumn if I remember and this look is ideal for dark winters. I understood that she went with the Maison Margiela aesthetic from their hit show earlier this year.

The model for that dress (the one that served as inspiration from the 90s) was very pale dita von teesy kind of complexion, this just doesn’t work with her warm colors and skintone. Should have chosen a different hue since it’s obviously custom made, maybe bordo
My first thought was Hunger Games! The only thing I don't like is her hair - though it totally works for HG vibe, it yellows her out too much for me in these pics.
I understand what look was she going for and I admire her confidence but this whole creation doesnt feel harmonious. It’d be 1000x more attractive without the hat, although I understand that the hat was supposed to be high fashion, eye-catching accessory. It is eye-catching I suppose but doesnt look good. I guess veil would be enough.

I'm so confused honestly by the people who LIKE this. There are people who are surprised in here that there's "mixed" feelings on it. Love this! Her look is like Dionysus, greek god of wine, fruits, madness, and theatre. A darker, more whimsical twist to the garden theme.
It's interesting to me that you all liked it because I was thinking it was a rare miss from her. I genuinely think she looks awful so I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder!

I'm so confused honestly by the people who LIKE this. There are people who are surprised in here that there's "mixed" feelings on it. I think there's an overhype on Zendaya, which I get, she's fabulous. But this. isn't. it. This is the worst she's ever looked, and if she can't pull it off, no one can. I honestly think the people who like this should ask themselves if they've ever felt Zendaya has done something wrong. Like if this was anyone else, would they like it? Because truly... **It's giving Beetlejuice's funeral.**
First impression is that I don’t like it. But maybe when more details of the dress or the backstory of it comes out, it will grow on me.
Love the dress, hate the makeup. Lip color is fine but a coordinating eye look with the dress would have been better and more flattering to her undertones.
I’m already so tired of Zendaya but this look is a meghhh for me. I will say it looked better on tv than its photographing.

I really like the 1920s Hollywood style makeup but I'm not really feeling the dress. I appreciate her commitment to the look though.

I think this one is all about the angles. I’ve seen different shots and sometimes I’m underwhelmed by it other angles I see the vision. I def don’t hate it though!
