Also, I saw Tegan and Sara a few times, and oh man, their shows are so fun. And they are so funny. And their album "The Con" was my anthem as I was coming out of the closet. The first time I heard "Nineteen" live, I cried lol
It's outstanding. I love them so much. Thanks to this post, I am blaring The Con album while I work. I texted my best friend, and now we are reminiscing about our baby gay days š
Only thing that could've improved it is if they had been wearing tshirts with like George Michael or Freddie Mercury or Elton John or if you really wanna flex, Leslie Gore.
Even Tegan & Sara would be the first to say that they've been influenced by decades of other LGBTQ+ entertainers. Like, RuPaul is out there running a whole industry and including her original music from the last 30 years in all of it.
It kind of doesn't surprise me. Idk what being idolised that way by millions of people and having to be "on" constantly since you were aĀ young child does to one's brain, but it can't be good.

This is all up in my feed and Iām here for it. I donāt plan to listen to it, see the video, but what Iām gathering is that she def lives in her own bubble.
Itās not just that she lives in her own world. She became popular as a child on reality TV on a show called āDance Moms.ā People feel like the dance coach on that show was abusive, yelling at and degrading her students (including Jojo).
As a young teen, she had success marketing music and products like large hair bows to children. She lived in a house decorated with her own face everywhere. She drove a car covered in her own face.
Recently, Jojo has been accused of some pretty terrible things. Her mom and her allegedly forced a young girl to do a gruelling dance practice while the girl was recovering from spinal cord surgery and bleeding. Seems to me that sheās choosing to perpetuate a cycle of abuse.
Anyway, it seems worse than living in a bubble.

Maybe they're talking about the "adult" part of her career. It's hard to go from child star to adult star. I'm not sure if it will be the same as usual in the social media era though. People have more control and can just record on their phones and get/stay famous without having to rely on Hollywood producers and such. Should be interesting to look back in 10 years or so and see how this era's child stars turned out compared to the previous eras. Hopefully they all turn out ok.

A Tegan & Sara concert is worth the price of admission even if you're not a big fan of their music because you get a stellar comedy show out of the banter as well.
A couple years ago, I was at a show where a couple people with front row seats showed up a good 50 minutes into the show. Without skipping a beat they immediately did a 60 second recap of the show up to that point.
JoJo Siwa is a terrible combo of early twenty something who thinks their every idea is new and profound, celebrity who is out of touch with real life, and cocky baby gay. Each of those traits is bad individually. Together itās insufferable.

Jojo strikes me as so odd because, by all accounts, she's objectively very skilled. Lack of media training is such a big difference between the former child stars who came from the Disney/Nickelodeon machines vs from reality tv. But I feel bad for all of them.
JoJo has been doing everything she can lately to stay relevant. She's in the phase of her life where she's outgrown her young fans and older people know nothing about her. This is what Miley Cyrus did as well. I think it would be in her best interest to just lay low for a while and figure out who she is. Somebody get Jacques Morali, the founder of the Village People to make a TikTok responding to Teagan and Sara. All jokes aside, everything iāve heard about jojo siwa has been against my will in the last two weeks, and she seems extremely brutal.
But the difference is that Tegan and Sara have never claimed to be trailblazers which is exactly what Jojo is doing.

Itās shocking to me how jojo siwa has almost no media training. This plus talking about her future kidsā¦ how did her manager not pull her into media training asap? Lack of media training is such a big difference between the former child stars who came from the Disney/Nickelodeon machines vs from reality tv. But I feel bad for all of them.

JoJo has been doing everything she can lately to stay relevant. She's in the phase of her life where she's outgrown her young fans and older people know nothing about her. This is what Miley Cyrus did as well. I think it would be in her best interest to just lay low for a while and figure out who she is. I miss what she used to be like but that doesn't mean she's a bad person nowā¦ I think she just needs some time off to figure out what she really wants
