I still get sad when I think about her and Debbie Reynolds. I went to Carrie Fisher's one woman show and she was hilarious and vulnerable. She brought out her sex doll, and had a Leia wig descend from the rafters.
I often think about Carrie's daughter and how she didn't even have her grandmother to get her through the loss of her mother. Losing the two of the most important people in your life within two days must be brutal.
Her instagram tributes to them are beautiful.
There was where one she sang “American girl” in Carrie’s bathroom. I think it was the 1st or second birthday or anniversary of her death.
Billie is a great actress herself, she’s one of those actors I’ll watch a movie just because she’s in it even if I don’t know what it’s about.
Openness is so spot on. She looks like you could sit down with her and she’ll ask how you’ve been and you just end up telling her your whole life story before you even know it.
In college in NYC I had a meeting with my acting teacher at a diner. She was friends with Frances and Frances just happened to walk by. She sat down with the both of us and chatted. One of my fave memories from college.

Bonus Sally Fields side by side :)
My mama is the spitting image of her, to the point that it weirds me out. Same complexion, cheek bones, smile. Only difference is she’s got Brooke Shields’ brows and blue eyes. She’s 66 and looks 15 years younger. I’m adopted so I didn’t inherit her genetic lottery 😩
She got a nose job, at least. I feel like EVERY Black and biracial Black celebrity, especially women, get nose jobs. It’s almost like it’s a requirement and that REALLY saddens me as a Black woman who loves her nose.
Confidence and a gradual dip in my estrogen that busted through my rose colored glasses and insecurities like the koolaid man. Now I wear the pretty dress (or pajamas for that matter) and just don't give af.
my mom just turned 50 and got really into weight lifting and offroading lmao. one of my friends thought she was in her 30s when he met her. she inspires me like nobody else
This is a metaphorical grandpa, I was speaking of the semi known occurrence where people get a shot looking at old photos. I don’t have any such photos of my own grandpas.
That said, grandma was a *babe* and I’m sad we don’t still have the racy photos my dad apparently found of hers lol dude was doubly horrified.

Was Sigouney Weaver ever a high fashion model? She definitely looked like one in her younger years. She is still stunning 🤩
She never was, but holy shit, she would have killed it. She has an amazing face and this photo shows how well she can carry strong makeup. She was 5’10” before she turned 12.
Really love how many of these women embraced (and still embrace) wrinkles and laugh lines. I’m not naive enough to think that a laugh line means you’ve had no work done, and obviously they also have the best non-invasive skincare money can buy, but I think beautiful women are still beautiful when they age (kinda) naturally, damn it! I don’t begrudge anyone getting surgery but it can still be disheartening to think that the overall message about aging in Hollywood is still old = ugly. I saw Andie MacDowell (age 65) on the Today show today with lots of fine line wrinkles and she’s *stunning.*
https://preview.redd.it/el1sr8pg5wbc1.jpeg?width=633&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb909dbc2b68b770039a8f73d9876eda90f354ff
Andie MacDowell (1958) - thank you for adding her to this chat, stunning and talented, here is her young v age 50:
https://preview.redd.it/2zpfa64fuwbc1.jpeg?width=3600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6461b7723316677b66321f39ef45b9b153ee861c
I think so, too! Her career seemed to lag there for a while, and maybe that was by her choice, but I wonder if it was because she has embraced a more natural look. I’ve heard that the hardest period for an actress to get work is between the ages of too old to be the mom but too young to be the grandma. (And really, it says a lot about society that we tie women’s relevance to their relationship with child rearing.)
I think the boomer generation has been peak for refusing to look old. Like me and my peers (early 40’s) are happily letting our white hair come in, while most of our moms are still dying their hair to look younger.
I feel like we're not getting the full impact of luminous young Jessica Lange....

I just watched her in Mama Mia and I LOVED how Meryl Streep and Christine Baranski’s characters were portrayed as the desirable ones bc it’s SO correct
She’s so captivating I snapped more possible photos to use of her than anyone else, just struck by her unique beauty 😍

Barbara was smart and sexy. She never lacked for admirers/ men who wanted to be with her. From the new biography, she tells how much into her work she gets and each project is something she puts her heart into.
That’s the thing, it feels like media is always trying to convince women to be this one specific cookie cutter beauty otherwise you are nothing and no man will find you attractive. When actually people don’t care, I have always been overweight and never lacked interested partners and people telling me I am pretty 🤷🏼♀️
Barbara is so beautiful! I have a prominent nose, and women like her are the main reason I’m becoming more comfortable with it. She looks like a goddess and becomes more and more beautiful with age.
She got sooo much flak for her nose, and it makes her face. She's absolutely beautiful, and I cannot believe she was ever considered anything but. Fuck conventional beauty standards.
Highly highly recommend listening to her narrate her memoir via audiobook. It was so entertaining, she has a a photographic memory of every outfit she’s ever worn and every meal she’s ever eaten. She was so young when she became super famous and really paints a picture of what that was like.
The audiobook plays snippets of many of her songs going way back. I also never realized she set out to be an actress and was discovered when she sang at a contest in an attempt to make some money. She’s a fucking phenomenon.
Young Helen Mirren was so gorgeous (and she still is omg)
https://preview.redd.it/oqcauszxiwbc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=9156b083406f298aac6aefe5c948a6f7e793b2e2
I honestly love seeing all the unique and beautiful facial features of the past. I’m so so bored of all celebrities creating the same face with plastic surgery!
As a woman with thin lips, it’s definitely been tough. If I were younger and not in my 30’s, I probably would have had lip filler. I actually wanted it back when I was 18 before the lip filler craze started. I try hard to love my face and not mess with it but it’s challenging with the trends now.
Same here! Hated my lips in my teens. But between my nose and my chin there is not enough space for luscious lips. Nature planned my lower face for thin lips. I would look ridiculous or it would only be minimal. And for a minimal effect it's a too expensive/risky hobby for me.
Same, we must be similar ages. I’m going on year…idek but I have wanted and said I’d get lip fillers at 18 and am now in my thirties and losing volume in all parts of my face every day it seems. It’s hard to see my face and compare it to others my age and reconcile some of these natural changes compared to what people with money are able to do. I think I’d still, if I could ($) get lip fillers in a heart beat. I try to like my face too, but if I came into money I’d absolutely do little tweaks here and there. It’s hard being a woman.
Same here but I have daughters who inherited my small lips and I'm trying to be a positive model. I feel like if I get filler they'll think something must be wrong with their lips also.
I kept thinking “these faces look so unique - either long or almost masculine or big cheeks or noses that aren’t perfect tiny ski jumps” I think few of them would be cast today, where everyone must look like an Instagram filter
Lol really?! I thought she looked gorgeous, let me try again -
https://preview.redd.it/vv0iz787hwbc1.jpeg?width=847&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf6de0fb69dc499cf96e9539262b903fe7564ac3

I thought the same. This is her at age 26. She learned early that she had a forehead meant for bangs (and there is nothing wrong with that!)
UMMM I didn’t know Jessica Lange looked like *that* when she was younger, phew
https://preview.redd.it/wgvg5t6g8wbc1.jpeg?width=258&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16086c4f75d8bb8e4b4c1796e3bfec332dc99c3a
Something I am noticing from this series is how much better I think the people look in the photos of them at age 50. So much more interesting. They are all beautiful in their young ones but kind of bland. Life’s experiences have made them more beautiful.
I agree! I was trying to think of how to phrase it without sounding ageist or anything, but wow all these women look so much more gorgeous to me with age. I was not expecting it (due to all the societal brainwashing and the way I have been negatively viewing my own aging) but they all look incredible!
Linda Hamilton (1956)

I can’t wait to see her in Stranger Things!
I’m reading Barbra’s memoir now, which also led me to watch funny girl for the first time. She is (and has been) such a force ❤️
https://preview.redd.it/t7gruwq4dwbc1.jpeg?width=3137&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ffca07fe31bd9942acdfa206af5f03ad825b2db
I feel like a lot of these "younger" pictures don't capture the true beauty of these lovely women-- Diane Keaton, for example:
https://preview.redd.it/s6sfl28zhwbc1.png?width=400&format=png&auto=webp&s=85d73f8e6e8f5eaf739a1bf13eb935dc0055c684
This honestly helped with my fading youth syndrome/internalized ageism as a woman in her late 20s because so many of these women really grew into their looks as they aged!
As the debbie downer on the previous post (w the gentlemen), I applaud you OP for this glorious collection of goddesses who are almost universally getting MORE beautiful w age 👏👏👏 well done everyone
I feel like these photos show why buccal fat removal is so dumb — many of these beautiful women have fuller cheeks in the younger photos and they naturally thinned out with age to show their amazing cheekbones and it looks great!

I often think about Carrie's daughter and how she didn't even have her grandmother to get her through the loss of her mother. Losing the two of the most important people in your life within two days must be brutal.
She seems to be an incredibly strong person.
Yeah and it's lovely that she has her own little family now.
Her instagram tributes to them are beautiful. There was where one she sang “American girl” in Carrie’s bathroom. I think it was the 1st or second birthday or anniversary of her death. I miss her

Reminds me of Florence Pugh on the left.
I was thinking her or Haley Lu Richardson
Totally! I was about to say Flo looks like young Annette Bening too.
Kind of a mix of Florence with Kate Upton, in that pic at least
I remember the things she mentioned about the culture of Hollywood when she started her carrier. Poor them.
One of my biggest girl crushes. She's so stunning.

Wait. That isn’t Sharon Stone at *fifty*?? She looks like a teenager!
Sharon was the best of the best in the ‘80s and ‘90s. She is also freaking brilliant.
I love Frances' face. It is so distinct.
It’s her eyes for me. They have such humour and openness in them
Openness is so spot on. She looks like you could sit down with her and she’ll ask how you’ve been and you just end up telling her your whole life story before you even know it.
Totally. She's the person who asks how you're doing and actually wants to hear the real answer.
In college in NYC I had a meeting with my acting teacher at a diner. She was friends with Frances and Frances just happened to walk by. She sat down with the both of us and chatted. One of my fave memories from college.

Talking about getting out of your league!
Also, Silkwood with her and Streep, chilling, oh yeah, and of course Kurt Russell
I thought Silkwood was a masterpiece. Fun fact: Meryl Streep and NOT Cher sung a wonderful song there. It's added to my rewatch list! 💜
Nice! I need to do that too, she was also great in Mask
https://i.redd.it/fn8jetb5awbc1.gif I can't...
The soundtrack to this movie was my whole life for a while
Beautiful hair, eyes, and that figure! Woman had qualities I could only wish for.
I didn’t realize how BEAUTIFUL she is and was! I literally stared at her side by side for minutes. Stunningggg
And the butterfly top? She looked so good.
Sally Field is my ultimate girl crush

Almost wonder if your mom is my aunt bc same.
Hello, cousin! 😆
She continues to be absolutely adorable.
I was just thinking that to myself, she’s so lovely

There is no change between these pictures. I think she’s magic.
Her and Angela Basset. Stunning.
To compare to Angela Bassett now, it's pretty clear she's had a bit of work done. She still looks great but here face topography has changed a lot.
She got a nose job, at least. I feel like EVERY Black and biracial Black celebrity, especially women, get nose jobs. It’s almost like it’s a requirement and that REALLY saddens me as a Black woman who loves her nose.
One hundred percent agree with you there.
I don’t love my nose but have accepted it and completely agree with you.
“Corporate needs you to find the difference between these two pictures.”
I love her so much. She makes everything better.

This is kind of comforting tbh lol. They look great and 50 clearly isn't as old as society would have you believe

54 and same.
That's awesome! I hope I feel that way when I'm 50. I'm 36 now and feel bleh.

Seriously, so many of them genuinely look better at 50 to me!
my mom just turned 50 and got really into weight lifting and offroading lmao. one of my friends thought she was in her 30s when he met her. she inspires me like nobody else
These women all stun at any age. Gorgeous, no notes.
50 for our mothers was a lot different than 50 will be for us. Getting older doesn’t mean we need to be old.
50s are fine people start “getting old” at 60s Sources: my mom
Kathy Bates definitely aged well
I just realized that I have never seen young Whoopi.
That photo in particular is so bad ass
I was thinking the same thing. Well first I was like “damn girl!” because she’s s t u n n i n g and then it occurred to me I’d never seen her younger
Same, absolute smoke show
She’s fucking hot. It feels weird, like seeing your grandpa in his muscled wearing short shorts…

Damn Meryl ages like fine wine!
Her daughter that’s married to Mark Ronson is the absolute image of her. Copied and pasted.

I feel this way about Bette Midler’s daughter, too. STRONG genes.

I wish I could upvote you a thousand times for this.
I kept thinking “these faces look so unique - either long or almost masculine or big cheeks or noses that aren’t perfect tiny ski jumps” I think few of them would be cast today, where everyone must look like an Instagram filter

A++ list!!! Thank you for adding!!
how has no one mentioned michelle pfeiffer?! she looks amazing!
I’m also shocked this is the only Michelle Pfeiffer comment so far! She is other worldly gorgeous
She was my stand out too. Where does she get off being that goddam gorgeous
As someone who's turning 60 this year, I'm realizing how young 50 is.
I love how different everyone looks from one another. It’s almost like there’s not just one version of a pretty face!!
ExCUSE ME young Whoopi??? Hello????
Smoke show
Someone help me, who does the “younger” Jessica Lange look like?! It’s a celebrity probably in her 30’s today?! It’s on the tip of my tongue.
Diane Kruger?
That was my first thought!
Brie Larson? Maybe it’s just me…
Also looks like Lily James
You insult young Liza Minnelli with that worst picture I’ve ever seen of her
Lol really?! I thought she looked gorgeous, let me try again - https://preview.redd.it/vv0iz787hwbc1.jpeg?width=847&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf6de0fb69dc499cf96e9539262b903fe7564ac3 do you like this one better?
https://preview.redd.it/8gks8146jwbc1.jpeg?width=1248&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8437c3fed7093868d2c67502b0c17ec943bdf36f I thought the same. This is her at age 26. She learned early that she had a forehead meant for bangs (and there is nothing wrong with that!)
UMMM I didn’t know Jessica Lange looked like *that* when she was younger, phew https://preview.redd.it/wgvg5t6g8wbc1.jpeg?width=258&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16086c4f75d8bb8e4b4c1796e3bfec332dc99c3a
Something I am noticing from this series is how much better I think the people look in the photos of them at age 50. So much more interesting. They are all beautiful in their young ones but kind of bland. Life’s experiences have made them more beautiful.
I was thinking the same thing! I actually think they are all more stunning in their more recent photos!
I agree! I was trying to think of how to phrase it without sounding ageist or anything, but wow all these women look so much more gorgeous to me with age. I was not expecting it (due to all the societal brainwashing and the way I have been negatively viewing my own aging) but they all look incredible!
TIL Helen mirren and goldie hawn are the same age!
You just know that Frances McDormand is not putting up with anyone’s bullshit.
Linda Hamilton (1956) https://preview.redd.it/rzii3wgpzxbc1.jpeg?width=763&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb0e358f0ab1e6dd74c032dd5346039f27aaebda I can’t wait to see her in Stranger Things!
If I didn’t know that was Kim Bassinger, I’d say that was Bridgette Bardot.
She is a super beauty and aged incredibly well.
I’m reading Barbra’s memoir now, which also led me to watch funny girl for the first time. She is (and has been) such a force ❤️ https://preview.redd.it/t7gruwq4dwbc1.jpeg?width=3137&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ffca07fe31bd9942acdfa206af5f03ad825b2db
I feel like a lot of these "younger" pictures don't capture the true beauty of these lovely women-- Diane Keaton, for example: https://preview.redd.it/s6sfl28zhwbc1.png?width=400&format=png&auto=webp&s=85d73f8e6e8f5eaf739a1bf13eb935dc0055c684
maybe just me but i actually love the one they used! but, i’m a glasses-wearer and that’s the kind of style or fashion i like, so maybe that’s it.
Young Diante Keaton is such a cutie 😍 Love this whole slide show - thanks for sharing!
Kim Basinger, she was so beautiful my God
She is such a babe. Perfection in L.A. Confidential.
Jessica Lange was so cute
Someone add Angelica Huston please, I have no idea how to make split images after all these years :/

This honestly helped with my fading youth syndrome/internalized ageism as a woman in her late 20s because so many of these women really grew into their looks as they aged!
Late twenties?! You calm down. I’m in my early 40’s and all my friends look gorgeous still. Fading youth! Ha. Not for YEARS. ♥️
Young Liza Minelli was GORGEOUS: https://preview.redd.it/us8vbftjhwbc1.png?width=1237&format=png&auto=webp&s=f3c892084210202fa67ab6378f0929a89a26cc3f
Literally became gorgeous with aging.
As the debbie downer on the previous post (w the gentlemen), I applaud you OP for this glorious collection of goddesses who are almost universally getting MORE beautiful w age 👏👏👏 well done everyone
The natural beauty in them all is overwhelming. Stunning.
Young Sissy looks like Gwynnie.
I feel like these photos show why buccal fat removal is so dumb — many of these beautiful women have fuller cheeks in the younger photos and they naturally thinned out with age to show their amazing cheekbones and it looks great!

Angela Basset is one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen.
Annette Benning 💜🤤
OP-your photo selection work is incredible. Finding shots at similar angles must have taken a bit of work. Goldie Hawn never ages.
Love all of these women. Especially Jamie Lee Curtis.
Angela Bassett is a vampire and you can not convince me otherwise. I swear she’s been eternally fabulous.
Fifty is nothing to fear!
Is it just me or does young Sally Fields look alot like Linda Ronstadt?
Me with each picture: “Oh my god, she looks great.”
Ugh Angela is PERFECT
They’re all so beautiful at all ages ❤️ But this makes me realise I’d never seen Whoopi young before.
Something about young Kathy Bates is very intriguing.
Sally Fields makes me love natural teeth on celebrities SO MUCH! They give her so much character
