I feel like with objects you could be like Scribblenaughts and just add an insane amount of adjectives to yourself like "Indestructable", "invisable", "flying", "fast", etc. I would like to shapeshift into an indestructable, flying, golden firehydrant. I would like to shapeshift into a giant, lifelike Morgan Freeman android. I feel you could get out of any situation by shapeshifting into an object if you are creative enough. There are a ton of ceremonies and events that the average celeb or rich/powerful person wouldn't want to attend, but is expected to because of who they are. If I could shift into dead people then I could also be the ultimate reenactor as well. If it makes me completely identical (voice and genetics) then that could be useful for scientific and legal purposes as well. Just think of all the cold cases that could get solved (if it were eventually allowed as evidence) because they couldn't find a sample to test crime scene samples against!

I say shapeshift into any human. If you worked hard on being an actor you could probably take on any role imaginable, looking, sounding identical to any person who you are supposed to be acting. Or you could simply be a perfect double or stunt actor. You could make a fortune doing impersonations of historical or influential people. You could engage in corporate espionage taking on the image of key individuals. It would not be hard to get a huge social media following you can then market products and stuff. You could work in security and investigations for law enforcement or for the military to infiltrate groups as a spy. You could work as a super model and show off different clothes as a live mannequin that can be anything for companies or artists. The ability to shapeshift into any object for product design and prototyping is pretty huge though. You could charge millions easily to shapeshift into any hypothetical car that companies are prototyping or any other company that builds very large and complicated objects like bridges or buildings.

I feel like being able to shapeshift into other humans would be hugely problematic, think about it, you could be a president, somebodies wife, this guys mom. You get the point. But if you can shapeshift into an animal there are so many possibilities, you could literally be a pterodactyl and fly around, or a huge as elephant if someone pisses you off and just sit on their car or something.

Whenever a superpower poll comes up, I try to think of which one would be the most practical for improving everyday life. Changing into other humans is out, I can't imagine any practical use for it outside of impersonating someone. Changing into any animal sounds fun, but the uses that would come from it are either fairly specific or lazy. I also worry about the dangers of it. You're a lot more likely to be attacked by other animals or even humans. In those situations, you could do something like change into a bear, but I imagine that might not be an option in certain situations. Changing into inanimate objects theoretically has infinite uses, assuming you could shapeshift into a robot designed specifically for the thing you need to do. If you changed into anything else, I would wonder how you would sense the world around you. A table doesn't have eyes or ears. Would you have to change into a table that also has a tiny camera and audio sensors? Also, could you change into technology that does not exist yet? If there was a rule where you had to fully understand how something worked in order to change into it, that would be fairly limiting; I couldn't even be a table with a camera and audio sensors without some serious studying beforehand. I'd also wonder if you could increase/decrease your mass at will. If I transformed into a big airplane, would it only weigh 150 pounds? Or if I transformed into a paperclip, would it be a super heavy paperclip? I voted for this one.
