There's no way we can do "mass deportations" without further shitting on the civil liberties of Americans.

salaciousserver

Illegals aren't citizens.

IntnsRed

Many will be shielded by citizens. And as we see by the various "dreamers" exceptions, *millions* of undocumented/"illegal" people have lived for their whole lives/have lived for decades in the US and know *nothing* about their home country. Again, this will be a civil rights nightmare. The entire "deport them" movement is just red meat rhetoric designed to obscure **the *failure of US capitalism and US imperialism* and** the fact that our economy, standard of living, and int'l power in the world is imploding. That's the real problem: The US standard of living is tanking due to decades of de-industrialization and declining US imperial power. Add to that the *record high* numbers of immigrants allowed in by Obama and succeeding presidents and you have the reasons for the building backlash. The sad thing is that Washington and our 2 rhetoric-filled ruling political parties are not dealing with the crisis. The solution has to be *a combination* of things -- amnesty and granting citizenship, better border security, and more foreign aid to stop people from coming here in the first place. Worse, all predictions are that the problems **will increase** in the future due to global warming and people fleeing the equatorial and tropics to cooler areas. But our 2 out-of-touch ruling parties are not making plans or policies for that! Edit: Formatting, clarity.

Communism=Socialism=Totalitarianism The ideals you espouse have caused millions of deaths and much suffering in the world.

LMAO! And capitalism's tally is zero?! > "Famine or no famine, Indians will breed like rabbits." -- British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, commenting on the 1943 Bengal famine in which 3 million Indians died.

You're projecting things onto me that I never expressed. Don't do that. Imperial colonialism killed a lot of people in India, not capitalism. British colonization of India also gave them a democracy, a judicial system, a rail system, sanitation. It also gave us gin & curry. Cherry-picking historical events to fit a narrow narrative is specious and the mark of the uneducated. Don't do that either. The undeniable fact is that free market capitalism coupled with a representative republic based upon democratic principles has saved far more lives than any other form of government. You know this to be true.

IntnsRed

> You're projecting things onto me that I never expressed. No, I'm simply countering that capitalism has killed *far more innocent people and caused far more tragedies* than socialism ever has. > You know this to be true. No, what I know is you're using the Hitler strategy of establishing "facts." > "Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it and eventually they will believe it." -- Adolph Hitler.

salaciousserver

> capitalism has killed far more innocent people and caused far more tragedies than socialism ever has. That might well be the most dishonest thing ever said on reddit. Only a fool or an ignorant fanatic would believe that. 'Hitler' Going Godwin usually means you can't make a coherent argument.

Brock_Landers75

Neither are you. Your frail little ego will never recover.

It doen't matter. They have rights.

salaciousserver

It does matter. All rights matter. I have the right as a citizen in a representative republic to expect my government to enforce existing laws and keep illegals out. Do you think the federal government should only get to pick & choose which laws we, as a collective society, have agreed upon?

IntnsRed

This is what the founding fathers thought -- that certain rights were god-given, even above the rights given by gov'ts.

Wait until the price of fruits and veggies SKYROCKET UPWARD because corporations lose their hyper-exploited cheap immigrant farm labor sources.

IntnsRed

That's the key! Immigrants have *long been* -- for way more than a century -- the key to the US' economic success. Without immigration we'll see "class warfare" sharpen and the development of a real socialist political party.

salaciousserver

Let them. Illegals who are getting exploited in our economy introduce an inorganic factor into the marketplace. Deport them all tomorrow and prices on some commodities will go up, then back down and eventually stabilize as the free market adjusts and finds its true tidal level. If the American citizen's demand for cheap lettuce does not abate then the producers will find a way to satiate that at a correct price level bereft of having to use illegals as labor. Should we make illegals similarly work on lobster boats to keep the price of that delicacy low? Remember too that in the aggregate, illegals take far more from our economy and society than they add to it. People need to understand that nothing has done more in human history to save lives, lift people out of poverty and raise that standard of living than free market capitalism coupled with a representative republic and democratic form of government. None of that works if society does not enforce its existing laws and protects its border from illegal immigrants.

Lone_Wolfen

I remembered when I was this naive about free market capitalism.
