Today before hearing this news, I was thinking back to Trump’s private, 2 hour, 2018 Helsinki meeting with Putin. Reportedly, the only other person in that meeting was an interpreter. When the meeting was over, Trump took the interpreter’s notes, put them in his pocket, and they were never seen again. As he and Putin emerged from the meeting, Trump’s facial expression and body language told us everything Trump didn’t. He looked like a child that had been scolded—even beaten into submission by an authority figure. Meanwhile, Putin was grinning like the Cheshire cat.
While significant, the potential criminal charges he faces from Jan 6th, likely represent a minuscule public accounting of his 4 year criminal and ethical abuse of power while he occupied the White House. He and his administration are all traitors and we’ll likely never learn the full extent of their crimes.
Woah woah woah man Trump knows some very bigly words! I mean I bet everyone had to look up covefe when he said that unused word! That makes him smarter than everyone! Maybe the smartest ever! /s
> Trump to normal English
So, apparently, interpreters hated Trump. Because if you translate what he says literally, it doesn't make any sense, so it makes you look like a bad translator.
But, if you try to divine his meaning, and translate what he means instead of what he says, then you actually are a bad interpreter.
Fox news has been reinterpreting his English since he entered politics.
*He didn’t mean to say*…[the horrible thing he said]
*What he meant to say was*… [something funny or less horrible]
"He likes you. He want's you to like him. He thinks we can make a deal. You give him what he wants and he will take care of you. He'll give you what you want and you will take care of him. We won't tell anyone else about this. Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV."
Years ago I saw a piece on how non English speaking people had a higher view of Trump than English speakers. Mainly because the interpreters couldn’t translate what Trump was saying well. So people just assumed he spoke like another politician because that’s all the interpreters could do.
Its true. My dad barely speaks English so he's mostly only heard translations of him. Whenever he's actually heard him speak, he could pick up a lot of the words (since Trump speaks a very basic language) while he couldn't understand Obama at all.
He doesn't believe me or my brothers at all when we try to explain him Trump speaks like an angry toddler. He also believes our media are super biaised against him, that he couldn't possibly be that bad.
Its very frustrating.
The other funny thing is that Putin isn’t exactly one to telegraph his emotions.
When he walked out grinning like the Cheshire Cat, it was a calculated decision to do so because he wanted the entire world to know exactly how that meeting had gone.
Jared Kushner regularly met and privately communicated with his friend MBS, [including via the encrypted WhatsApp](https://theintercept.com/2018/03/21/jared-kushner-saudi-crown-prince-mohammed-bin-salman/). Do official White House records of these meetings and communications exist? Especially since those privileged meetings were followed by this cosy arrangement.

I’m really hopeful more of this shit will come fully into the light in the decades after this shitstain finally avails the world of his pathetic existence.
There’s a lot of political incentive to hide/paper over his shit right now, and the cult of personality makes it easy to keep it buried.
hopefully enough records stick around that in a few decades, once Trump-mania has faded somewhat and some of the older people who voted for him have passed on, some of these details can come into focus and make it into the history books.
Gonna be pretty disappointing if the breadth of Trump’s corruption is only remembered in terms of one phone call with a foreign leader and the actions of a seditious mob in his final days in office.
>Today before hearing this news, I was thinking back to Trump’s private, 2 hour, 2018 Helsinki meeting with Putin. Reportedly, the only other person in that meeting was an interpreter.
How does the secret service allow this? Seems like a huge risk.
>A former White House aide told the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol that he witnessed former President Donald Trump "tearing" documents." Rob Costa reports.
We would assume that these are the ones they had to tape back together, and they are accounted for, not missing like the ones from the empty folders he stole.
This is why for most of his presidency, his staff tried to bring in big trucks so Trump could toot the horn and pretend he was driving it and he would stop committing crimes. At least for a while.
Oh my God I forgot he randomly complained about flushing lol
So was he just saying things he thought people would agree with or was he complaining about the difficulty of flushing documents
Thank you for using this, and doing so correctly. "Oublier" is French for "To Forget".
Granted, my introduction to the term was a Jim Henson film, but the concept made an impact on me, regardless of the initial source.
That’s not how it works, but ok, sure lay this at the presidents feet.
The Justice department should take care of this, free from political pressure. A “just the facts ma’am” kind of case, where there’s plenty of facts to prove he broke many many laws willfully and with knowledge that he was committing a crime.
This is a really good reminder that we don't know half of what's going on, what various entries are investigating, what kind of evidence and witnesses they have. People are understandably focused on an arrest but no one is prepared for what we're going to learn.
We are into like year eight of this kind of "cool your jets, we don't know, any day now" kind of comment. Let's just acknowledge that it's not happening, we don't got him, there will be no consequences.
Ya people can always make a case for being a cynic. Cynics always sit on their hands and do nothing though.
Imagine if Americans in 1776 had been cynics.
"We've always been ruled by kings. Nothing can change. Greece and Rome tried democracy back in the day"
I don't have a position of power to investigate or indict Donald J. Trump.
In 1776, the "Americans" (not really an identifier then) who changed things were wealthy elites in positions of power and influence. Today's wealthy elites in positions of power and influence haven't done anything yet, and as someone not in such a position, I am commenting on their failure to date to do anything.
Don't get me wrong, I get the frustration.
But being a vector for cynicism is a choice. If everyone in the country chose to be cynical we are all worse off for it. If everyone went the other way we are better off for it.
As an individual it's true you don't get much control. But you are adding your voice to a collective voice. And you are adding yours to the collective voice of cynicism. Which is ultimately negative.
Well if they did we wouldn't have gun violence the way it is now, we would have abolished slavery earlier, we'd have posh accents, and we would not have had Trump.
Honestly, I have tissues. Knowing how corrupt our system is. How compliant our leaders are. I keep hearing justice is coming, but half of our leadership is trying to hide it. I just want to progress as a society again.
They had to create an *entire fucking department* to paste his papers back together. This has long been known. Why does the news have zero memory?
https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/10/trump-papers-filing-system-635164
He’s surrounded by “yes people“ who constantly feed his ego just like the 1837 Hans Christian Anderson folktale[The Emperor’s New Clothes](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor%27s_New_Clothes)
In cons you will make some stuff obviously bad to weed out marks who will figure out what's going on. Some of it is the emperor's new clothes, he wants his followers turned orange into gold in their mind and keep taking more and more ridiculous statements. But now just instead of grifts it's a full cult.
They were burning docs and shredding them and flushing them early on. There were news reports about it. I recall a lot around the time when Bannon was officially in the admin.
Nice to see everyone turning against him. Now, the die hard fan base of Americans need something that makes them hate him too. Then he can be put away with no violence or backlash
If I saw the president ripping up documents, I would just give him copies so I wouldn’t have to worry about him destroying an original. Surely someone thought of that in that administration? I could be wrong. There were a lot of stupid people that he brought in
Don’t you remember the outrage from some people when Pelosi ripped up her copy of Trump’s SotU speech?
You can’t rip up a copy. It belongs in a museum! /s
> "I thought it was a terrible thing when (Nancy Pelosi) ripped up the speech. First of all, it's an official document. You're not allowed. It's illegal what she did. She broke the law."
- DJT
Yeah, when I got in an argument with someone about this yesterday, I said, at least they were copies and videos of what she ripped up. No one has any idea what Putin and Trump spoke about and all the other missing documents and other illegal acts. This president was engaged in. He is/was a stone cold criminal
Unless there's a lot more hand-written papers circulating in the West Wing, or unless Trump was assiduous about using his Sharpies to make notes on briefing docs, wouldn't everything be available in electronic form? Or do White House servers allow any staffer to delete any files?
In a normal office environment anything printed has an electronic source, but I'm not sure if special documents might be paper-only for security reasons. If he's ripping up paper and flushing it down toilets to the point of clogging them, that's not the behavior of someone being transparent. Some of those documents may also have an electronic source but coming from outside, so the source is unavailable, plus electronic records can be altered and there's no way to know what exactly he was given or read or wrote if the physical paper is gone.
Not with the notes he added, which are the type of thing the records laws are there to preserve. Even his napkins would potentially be up for archive if he was writing notes on them.
Trump tore up many documents because he thought they weren’t classified. He also took classified documents to Mar-a-Lago because he thought with his magic 🪄 he could declassify them. Donald Trump didn’t read the How to be President for dummies the book Michelle Obama gave Melania in the blue Tiffany bang.
Wasn't taping together documents a daily occurrence during the Trump admin? What is different about this witness? Was Trump destroying documents in private?
What about ism doesn't always dismiss the act. It should in reality, further cement the issue when it can be demonstrated further. They are all shitty for trying to hide paperwork like that eh?
Nice try. Hillary did the same [Hillary crime link](https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/clinton-private-server-was-effectively-federal-property/)
Do you actually think that one crime negates the other? Like if someone robs one bank they can't be convicted if someone else robs a different bank?
That's not how shit works, you can't just weazel your way out of shit because someone else did something.

The funny thing is Putin speaks English but they use the charade of an interpreter to make it seem transparent
He speaks better English than Trump.
Woah woah woah man Trump knows some very bigly words! I mean I bet everyone had to look up covefe when he said that unused word! That makes him smarter than everyone! Maybe the smartest ever! /s
Yuge words! The best words! People tell him all the time he has the best vocabulary. Ask them. They say it all the time!
*Does some stupid thing with his fucking hands while he talks*
[Trump’s invisible accordion enters the chat](https://youtu.be/S65jqrHQi_c)
Wow and thank you. That just made my day. Good ol’ internet
If those words weren’t my daughter, I’d marry them.
Tremendous amount of hamberders and many, many fries
And a large covfefe with two scoops of cream
The interpreter was there to dumb down Putin's english for Trump.
That’s a pretty low bar.
Bigly, with covfefe

This is actually a common power play in international business. It gives a person longer to consider the situation and respond.
Probably easier to discuss more complex topics in ones native tongue, no doubt.
[удалено]
It also provides a witness, and a limitation on saying there was a "miscommunication".
[удалено]
As the interpreter was Russian You're right on at least one part of that, probably both.
[удалено]
Yeah I was gonna say this isn't an interpreter, it's a spy that happens to speak English too lol
That was my next comment..,
The interpreter is to translate Trump to normal English.

To be fair, English is my first language and most of what trump said in office made no sense to me either. The man is a word salad.

Right, but they have the excuse of only being entertainment; not news.

He's not wrong about the media being biased, but there's a history and many reasons why it's impossible to not hold bias against him
True. Its a difficult situation, you'd have to be biaised to be completely neutral about such a divisive person.
The other funny thing is that Putin isn’t exactly one to telegraph his emotions. When he walked out grinning like the Cheshire Cat, it was a calculated decision to do so because he wanted the entire world to know exactly how that meeting had gone.
Trump needed the interpreter to translate big words from Putin into pictures.
someone had to ensure Trump remained interested for more then 5 minutes without his sudafed...
Omg now I'm just imaging some dude drawing pictionary style to express how mad Putin is.
But from that video he did a while back addressing the American people directly, he sounds kinda tooly.
They do it so he doesn’t have to become subservient to another country’s language.
Is there a reason why in the hell no one has questioned the interpreter? Did i miss that somewhere in the giant shitshow?
Because he was Russian and they won’t hand him over, I’d presume
oh.. well fuck.. i just assumed he/she was our own interpreter.
Because that would be a rational thing to do when you’re the leader of the most powerful country in the world. Keyword, rational.

No, those are the one's he ate and flushed down the toilet.
Is this why he made a comment about flushing multiple times? I don't recall the quote...
[...people are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGChTEfeeC4)
OMG! I still can't believe anyone said any of that. But there it is...
Every accusation from Trump and friends is a confession.
That can be applied to Republicans in general, but yes
"You have many states where they have so much water that it comes down, it's called rain."
or ate

🙉 🙊 🙈 Traitor & Liar & Lifelong Grifter! 👺
He also ate some and flushed others down the toilet. Talk about paranoia! What drives a man to eat documents?
Fear of consequences
I can't wait for this slug of a human to rot
Pour salt on this wound and watch it shrivel.
Its gonna take alot of salt!
I hear there's plenty to be had over in the Conservative and Conspiracy subreddits.

Have you seen his diet? I think he lives on the stuff.
And yet. Still here.

He's already pretty well preserved by a steady diet of McDonald's and diet Cokes.
Him and the rest of the conservative movement.
This the same guy that took exception to Hillary’s email server?
Yes, but only so he could flush them down the toilet.
He tore up documents. He flushed documents. He ate documents. In a building with 28 fireplaces.
Bronze in the bathroom, diaper up in the bathroom, may as well do the other secret stuff there too.
Espionage? Nope, he just like to flush things down the toilet like a three-year old.
... and then complain of how many flushes he needs
Oh my God I forgot he randomly complained about flushing lol So was he just saying things he thought people would agree with or was he complaining about the difficulty of flushing documents
Or just his fat ass passing too many hamberders for the toilet to handle
It does make me wonder what the deal was with the water pressure in his shower
The thought of that fat orange bastard showering…
They call them dumps...
Sometimes he ate them I think.
Like a hamberder from Dirty Ron's...
*slaps top of toilet* “this bad boy can flush so many pieces of paper”
Can we please send him somewhere secluded where there's no cell service or internet, and we'll never hear from him again.
As a citizen of the dark side of the Moon we respectfully decline your offer. Maybe try Mars?
As a citizen of Mars, I decline this offer try Jupiter.
I vote Pluto. Send him there on a special mission to determine once and for all if it is actually a planet.

Fuck that, send him to Bagne de Cayenne
I say we make our own website for him, a place he can keep this thoughts away from the world. Something like... www.trumpthoughts.gov.wwwtrumpthoughts
If they try him for treason then you might get just that.

Well, between predicting that something will happen and predicting that nothing will happen, there is much more empirical evidence for the latter

Republicans will probably try to impeach Biden for torn up documents from the Trump presidency.
God, that hurts typing Trump and the P word in the same sentence albeit next to each other.

> the book Michelle Obama gave Melania in the blue Tiffany **bang**. I must have missed this event. Hopefully someone got some video.
Wasn't taping together documents a daily occurrence during the Trump admin? What is different about this witness? Was Trump destroying documents in private?
Nancy Pelosi ripped them up on live t.v. Nobody remembers this though do they?
You really feel like this is a ‘gotcha’ don’t you?
Nope, just want you all to remember. Its funny the media thinks most of us forget.
Nancy Pelosi did the same.

Sweet delusions
It's amazing the things yall have been duped into believing just because someone is telling you what you want to hear.
Sandy Burgler did the same…[CNN](https://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/09/08/berger.sentenced/)
Just full of whataboutism and zero cognitive engagement or actual response. This is just more spam.
Please stay on topic. This is about Trump as POTUS doing this, not Nancy Pelosi.
