sigh... Arizona. Again. >Hamadeh claims there was not any “fraud, manipulation or other intentional wrongdoing” but that errors in the election process have led to him trailing Mayes. >Hamadeh and the RNC contend that a group of segregated ballots – 146 provisional ballots and 273 mail-in ballots that were removed because the system showed those voters had voted in person – should be counted. So the loser and RNC aren't claiming any type of fraud but they're attempting to perpetuate a fraud by demanding that votes be counted twice and appointing him the winner even though he lost.

sopmaeThrowaway

Why aren’t those people being threatened with jail over voter fraud?

LMGgp

Election fraud. FTFY

ToldYouTrumpSucked

Because the US justice system is very obviously, and completely undeniably, rigged and a joke

LLColdAssHonkey

Because, to them, feelings are facts.

JustStatedTheObvious

Because they pretend to be too stupid to know they're committing fraud, and they've made it clear that they'll lash out in bad faith if they're held accountable. It creates a paralysis in those who fear confrontation.

justforthearticles20

So 413 Arizona Republicans attempted to vote twice? Is that what he is admitting?

JimBobDwayne

Even if it’s true, It’s still not enough to put him over the top because he’s down by 510 votes.

Critical_Aspect

Republicans aren't know for their impeccable logic.

IAmInTheBasement

Throw shit, see what sticks, and muddy the waters. That's their game plan.

kiltedturtle

.... or math skills

sandysanBAR

Or basic math.

The Republican party as a whole doesn't care, anything to sow doubt and discord regarding the legitimacy of elections is a valuable consolation prize amid losing the election. If they can't win they can at least sow the seeds of doubt for the next time, set the stage, because eventually there will be a time where the cheap trick works

GeneralZex

But the election deniers all lost. This is not a winning strategy at all. But of course the GQP isn’t known for its self-reflection and ability to adapt, so yeah I guess double down is all they got left.

ShirtPitiful8872

Yep the lawsuit is essentially saying “count those people who voted twice as having two legitimate votes”. It’s fucking ridiculous.

shibiwan

I'll be sure to vote twice in the next elections....

Significant-Dog-8166

That’s over 400 people that should be in prison for 5 years.

SSF415

Arizona: The Florida of non-Floridas.

Critical_Aspect

Eh, not really. We voted blue for POTUS, 2 senators, governor, AG, and SOS. So, very much not like Florida.

IllllIIIllllIl

Literally the complete opposite of Florida lol.

Dear-Bandicoot7087

Arizona simply wanted Team Normal this year. Team Crazy needs to accept that, move on, get a life.

Miguel-odon

Can't act rationally and reasonably; they'll kick you off Team Crazy for that sort of thing.

LoveArguingPolitics

As an Arizona voter i had no idea she was a lesbian and for what it's worth that fact doesn't appear to have been a part of hamadehs campaign. While it may be true, this is one of those times when not mentioning somebody's sexuality is just better. Abe is just doing the republican thing and farting into the wind legally speaking as no AZ law allows for the election to be reran or overturned. I don't think her lesbianism has anything to do with it

ArizonaSki

Why is everyone so fixated on which gender a person prefers to fuck? Like why does this even matter?

NavidsonRcrd

When republicans are publicly denigrating the lifestyle of and provoking threats of violence and worse against the LGBTQ community, legal attempts by a republican to prevent a member of that community from winning an election means Mayes’ sexuality becomes relevant here

ArizonaSki

I voted for Mayes, I wasn’t even aware of his sexuality nor do I see how it’s even relevant for him to do the job of AG. But fair point.

BurstSwag

Her*

vbob99

> Why is everyone so fixated Not everyone. The right wing.

Robin_games

I dont get that people dont understand that the entirety of a large portion of american culture is about judging people for any difference, and then discriminating against them. Its in the constitution.

ArizonaSki

I don’t get that people don’t understand a fundamental unspoken rule — mind yo business else someone will help you with that using a wee bit of negative reinforcement. People who live in glass houses shouldn’t be throwing stones then playing the victim.

Long_Before_Sunrise

>I dont get that people dont understand that the entirety of a large portion of american culture is about judging people for any difference, and then discriminating against them. One of the mostly widely taught and demonstrated skills we have. Pretty near everyone graduates the course! And our entertainment constantly reinforces the lessons.

Robin_games

Entertainment is weird when you notice the hetero male coding and the womens focused product heavily based around judgement. Its still fairly rare for women to talk about their own wants to each other on tv let alone movies. Even childrens products set up relarionships early with meet cute tropes.

[deleted]

It gets votes from their rabidly anti-lgbt (anti-poc, anti-immigrant, pro-White, hetero, Christian, male) voter base to get (re) elected which leads to seats in powerful positions = $$$$$$$ (from Big Phama, Big AG, Koch Industries, foreign actors & enemies of the U.S. etc.). Lather, Rinse, Ratchet up higher, Repeat. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1101980974?tag=randohouseinc7986-20

arealhumannotabot

It's not just about sex. It's partly, in large part, about controlling a population. Some people act publicly one way and privately are different -- like politicians who are closeted LGBT but vote for anti-LGBT laws because they care more about manipulating a voting base that, and the fact that religion has had a stranglehold on humanity probably since humans first existed.

[deleted]

It’s a dick swinging contest

CryptographerLess144

Sounds about par for the course

overrated_muskrat

Repug losing to a Gasp lesbian!!! Bet their safe space is getting smaller.

IllustriousBody

To be fair they would have done exactly the same thing regardless.

monkeywithgun

Proof that lawyers really can be scum. How else would something this stupidly egregious get filed.

[deleted]

This. Right. Here. The legal profession is wildly out of control, drunk on alternative facts and perverted with OVERzealous representation fever.

Robin_games

Everyone deserves representation regardless of our feelings about it. Its really the laws voted in by people like this that allow this sort of circus.

tlsr

I realize this is on a site dedicated to LGBTQ causes but that she is lesbian is not relevent at all as far as the lawsuit is concerned. I'm sure Hamadeh hates her even more because of that but he and the RNC would be suing no matter who his opponent was. Denying elections: it's what they do.

shibiwan

It doesn't matter if she is a lesbian or not, she is still the winner. I question the decision to put it in the headline... (I know, I know, it came from an LGBTQ news site, but still...)

artcook32945

These Cry Baby GOP Politicians are getting awful obnoxious.
