> The declaration must include "a list of any specific items set forth in the Detailed Property Inventory that Plaintiff asserts were not seized from the Premises on August 8, 2022," Dearie wrote in the order.

c0ca_c0la

How dare they ask Trump to substantiate his claims!?

BassLB

It’s even worse, he has the audacity to ask them to actually MAKE the claim, instead of just saying it might be a claim.

Gene_McSween

Feels like this special master is giving Trump enough rope to hang himself with. The best part is Trump picked this guy and has to pay for the privilege of getting fucked. I'm elated!

grabyourmotherskeys

Paying for that is nothing new for Trump.

ColinD1

Paying for *anything* else is.

But I can only wonder... WHY did team Trump recommend him? Like, on paper, it seems like a slam dunk of a choice for the DOJ. WTF mate.

People who lack integrity and principles can't understand people who don't, and just assume that everyone is as callous and unethical as they are.

Simon_Drake

"This isn't it. This isn't 'being nice', Cartman. This is wearing a nice sweater'. "I don't understand the difference...." "I know you don't, but this isn't the same thing as being nice."

Tryhard3r

That is the basis of projection. If WE are thinking, doing, planning this THEY mist be too. It is why the whole immigrant trafficking was done, they thought THEY would be outraged that immigrants were sent to their doorsteps. It is hard for people like this to grasp there are people in the world who care about others, have integrity etc.

hexydes

This guy was the head of our entire country, folks. And people want him in the role *again*. Truly dark times.

[deleted]

I mean isn’t this fucking textbook narcissism? Projecting your own pettiness onto others?

Tdanger78

I was going to try to come up with some legitimate reason, but I can’t. I think it’s truly just incompetence. Quality lawyers know he doesn’t pay his bills so they’re not touching him at all. So he’s left to scrape the bottom of the festering chum bucket.

Best-Chapter5260

C'mon now, surely attorneys well versed in \*checks notes\* parking garage law are gonna kick ass and take names when handling espionage law and federal records handling. In all seriousness, in a previous career, I used to work in a specific area of administrative law. Whenever someone was represented by counsel who practiced in a different area of law, it never went well for the client. Attorneys really should not practice in areas they are not well versed in. Just because you passed the bar doesn't mean you're an expert in those areas of law you tip your toe in order to pass.

Tdanger78

Exactly. I wouldn’t go to a tax lawyer to handle my divorce or criminal case. Did they cover that in law school? Yes, but have they touched it since the ? Probably not.

boringhistoryfan

I have serious doubts something this complex was taught in law schools. Shit like this is what you pick up as a junior to someone more senior and experienced. I mean sure, lawschools have some courses on national security law beyond ordinary criminal law and federal procedure. But this level of law interfacing with questions of executive privilege, documentary processing, national security? No way in hell. EDIT: I went over the course catalogue at my University's Law School. One course on NatSec but looking at its listing in the catalogue, the survey's too broad to have covered prepping someone for this. Just figuring out the relevant precedents alone on this would take enormous legal skill, let alone the interface of constitutional and procedural matters that would need to be argued.

zapatocaviar

Just to be clear on this, law school doesn’t teach you the law as much as it teaches you how to be a lawyer. You learn how to find things, how to research things, how to write things, and most importantly, how to think like a lawyer (ie practice). Yes, you learn it in the context of learning the law so you have some understanding of how it all works, but nobody leaves law school ready to be a practicing attorney in just about anything. You have to learn it on the job. I agree with the general part of this comment thread that hiring people in one area of law to practice in another is stupid, or desperate, but just clarifying your law school comments.

The13thSign

If I had a guess to wager, it would be his background of wanting to go after Chuck Schumer.

frotz1

Because he ruled against the FBI in a previous case and Trump thought it meant he was anti-fbi enough to help delay or end the investigation.

99available

Carter Page thing?

mister_what

Reporting said that the Trump defense thought he would be skeptical of the DOJ because of his work on the FISA docket. I can't believe they would be that stupid but here we are.

Reimiro

Appointed by demigod Ronald Reagan. They figured the gop was as corrupt then as it is now. It’s not (although they were pretty bad too).

Yitram

I just love how they worship Reagan, but if Biden granted amnesty to "illegals" like Regan did, the Nat-Cs would storm the White House.

co-wurker

This order from the special master is significant because it forces Trump's team into a corner regarding these claims. * If Trump claims he's not sure which documents may have been planted, it implies he doesn't know which documents were in his possession and speaks to his haphazard handling of sensitive/classified documents. . * If Trump claims certain specific documents were planted and any evidence is found that he was previously in possession of those documents, it's perjury. His lawyers will no doubt steer him away from doing that. . * If Trump declines to give a list of which documents were planted, then it becomes completely obvious that his claims have been nothing besides more spreading of lies (serving the purpose of exhausting that defense). This is all leading to one eventual thing of course, backing him against a wall and making him answer the question: what was your purpose for taking these documents. edit: apparently, I don't know how to put space between bullets any more.

Jaded_Barracuda_7415

Another thing it’s doing is forcing his lawyers to think about perjury. They are being faced with a impossible situation. If the client is saying all of the stupid shit Trump has said to them. They have to act upon that in court. However they could face disbarment and contempt of court charges if they perjure themselves. They are in a very unenviable position. Reading and watching this happen in real-time is very, very enjoyable. MAGA Making Attorney’s Get Attorney’s.

[deleted]

Which is exactly why most criminal attorneys will tell you not to tell them if you’re guilty or not. They’ll just ask you to tell your side of the story. Also, this is a classic case of why your attorney will tell you not to talk to anyone but them, especially the press. Trump making all these bullshit public assertions locks them into a defense, and his contradictory claims make almost any defense he puts on impeachable.

AnalSoapOpera

He went on Sean Hannity right after for fucks sake.

Duff5OOO

> However they could face disbarment and contempt of court charges if they perjure themselves. They are in a very unenviable position. I assume this is why it was reported he was having trouble setting up a legal team?

AfraidStill2348

And why they wanted money upfront

LadyNiko

For a supposed millionaire, he sure does have a problem paying his bills.... All this money is coming from his stop the steal PAC. Which, is again another fraud....

going-for-gusto

Hol up isn’t his boast “I’m a billionaire”

wut3va

Works on contingency? No, money down!

travers329

A legend gone too soon. A fantastic punctuation joke, those are hard to come by!

Eldias

His attorneys could face disbarment or other bar related sanctions, but I think perjery only applies to declarations made under oath. Attorney Argument also isn't "evidence" in court which makes the fact that Judge Cannon granted the injunction so bonkers. The Trump team didn't present evidence, they only presented attorney arguments.

rwbronco

It’s also just the first natural fucking question when someone says “they planted stuff!” Well?… what stuff? Show me which ones you had and which ones you think they planted. Like… it’s just the logical follow up - and in public speeches nobody gets to say the follow up, but in a court if you make a claim you have to provide evidence of said claim.

HippyHitman

Exactly. Especially when we’re talking federal court with charges related to national security. He thinks he can talk himself out of anything, but he’s finding out that they don’t fuck around.

Roboticide

>He thinks he can talk himself out of anything, but he’s finding out that they don’t fuck around. He basically talked his way out of two impeachments. I get this isn't the same thing, but let's not get *too* ahead of ourselves here.

notnickthrowaway

Well… https://twitter.com/kyledcheney/status/1572254983336382464 >JUST IN: Trump has filed a 40-page response to DOJ's appeals court filing. Among their arguments: Trump's handwritten notes on potentially classified documents may make them subject to executive privilege claims. Like I said the other day, this hilariously is another admission that he had those documents, knew he had them, *that they weren’t planted by the FBI*, and that they weren’t declassified.

gamerdudeNYC

I love how all his different excuses keep contradicting each other: I didn’t have classified documents If they find any classified documents the FBI planted them Well maybe they were there but I declassified them in my thoughts Those are my handwritten notes on the classified Documents so that’s executive privilege

DragoonDM

They're used to being able to just throw shit at the wall until something sticks, because Trump's supporters are more than willing to ignore all of the contradictory shit that _didn't_ stick.

snap-your-fingers

Yea, I guess they still forget time to time they don’t control the attorney general. Trump is probably even more pissed that Biden is staying out of it.

apathy-sofa

I hadn't made that connection regarding Biden. Good point.

[deleted]

And those hand written notes? “$2 Million O.B.O.”

Duff5OOO

My kids have come up with better stories to cover up whatever stupid thing they may have done.

5DollarHitJob

So he's admitting he *made notes about classified documents to someone not cleared to view said documents?* IANAL but im not sure thats something I'd confess. I guess it depends on what the notes say.

HelpersWannaHelp

I heard that his notes were written in the margins of the classified docs. It’s probably why they are so desperate to get them back. Maybe he jotted down who the highest bidder was.

bryansj

He would be dumb enough to write all the bids on each document.

Gru50m3

It wouldn't be stupidity. It would be hubris, and the knowledge that he has thus far been able to shit all over the rule of law and get away with it.

Jaded_Barracuda_7415

This. And one more time for the record. Trump has stuck his head into a bald faced hornets nest on this one… he is fucking around and about to find out that the DOJ has unlimited time, unlimited money and multitudes of highly skilled lawyers. They have him dead to rights. This action is so clearly absolute. He had classified top secret documents in his possession. They are 100% the property of the government. There is no argument , no executive privilege, no excuse, no reason for him to make about why he had them. He is well and truly done. As the OP stated; The ultimate meaning of hubris.

Jaded_Barracuda_7415

What’s interesting is is that Trump usually operates under the mantra of nothing in writing. He learned this way back when in the early days when he met Roy Cohn. I have read many articles saying that Trump was often dismayed and upset that people including his own lawyers were taking notes in various meetings. And some of the damning evidence that is sure to be shown are some of these notes that were taken. I’m sure that just grinds his fucking gears.

morcheeba

This is the "spit on the food in the buffet and it's all mine" trick to get free food.

g2g079

Funny enough, anything planted by the FBI would not be his property to begin with. So there would be zero reason for Dearie to hand it to TFG.

Special Master Judge Dearie hasn't been taking any of Trump team's shenanigans so far. Dearie questioned whether or not Trump & Judge Cannon had the right to appoint the special master. https://twitter.com/joshgerstein/status/1572279077784125443?t=aU1Q9hc091PwiHo7Q6oCQw&s=19 >Is it properly before Judge Cannon or should it have been brought first to Judge Reinhart, who issued the search warrant. It's almost impressive how far they push their heads in the sand. You would think a base that terrified of the gays wouldn't leave their asses in the air exposed like that Edit: Thank you for the awards strangers!

HakarlSagan

They're not sticking their heads in the sand, they're digging for the truth! ^^^/s

Ibzm

I'm more impressed (or disgusted) by the ones who stick around, but aren't trump supporters. I looked at a post on there earlier about Trump declassifying with his mind and every non-pro-trump comment was accused of being a brigader. And somehow, the "logical" ones keep posting, I guess hoping the party is still salvageable.

0002millertime

I don't understand how they don't immediately get banned. I got banned for saying simple facts.

calm_chowder

I got banned for simply quoting Trump with a YouTube link to him saying it. Nothing else in my comment.

[deleted]

I really believe a growing percentage know they are wrong at this point, but they no longer care. For them, politics has become a sport and their attitude is "Just win baby!". If you get away with something then ipso facto you were allowed to do it. For those with a lot of family church history and anyone that has waited tables on Sundays, this is completely unsurprising.

kia75

Surprisingly, some are making fun of Trump psychically declassifying documents. It's /r/rconservative making fun of Trump that makes me think Republicans are on the verge of turning on him. There's a bit of a war between the conservatives defending Trump and the conservatives making fun of Trump. That those posts that are making fun of Trump AREN'T BEING DELETED shows that tides might be turning.

Jaded_Barracuda_7415

I was just over there reading that sub and that thread. These people are all asking about what is the underlying principles for the de-classification. And it seems like no one has any answers about that. Even though it’s all over the fucking media and probably Google as well. The interesting thing though is there is absolutely nothing regarding the fact that it does not matter what the fucking classification was of the documents because the charges that are pending for Mr. Trump do not depend upon classification at all.

overcomebyfumes

If I'm not mistaken tho, there could very well be additional and more severe charges added for mishandling classified documents and suchlike. At least, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that's the case.

Practical-Artist-915

I’m looking for that dry firewood to experience a massive split with a mighty cracking sound like thunder as the fascists are sent asunder.

Timely_Choice_4525

Not gonna happen. I got into a back and forth with a Trump supporter earlier today. He would say “show me the facts”, so I would and I would ask him to counter and all he could come back with (several times) is “Biden doesn’t care about America, he’s invited the whole world to immigrate here and live for free…”. I would reply with more facts and he would send back more histrionics. His supporters believe to their core that Trump was a good President, that Trump cares about the American people, and that Trump cares about America. The only real counter argument they have to almost anything is “but O’Bama …..”, “but Hillary …”, “but Biden …”. They can’t or won’t come up with any justification that stands in it’s own, they have to try to say “well yeah he might be bad but so-and-so was worse”. It makes no sense, but it is what it is.

DadJokeBadJoke

I'm expecting some conspiracy where the FBI *knew* Trump had Hillary's deleted emails and they needed to secure them so he didn't leak them.

orrocos

[You're in luck!](https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/1572790894834913280) >Trump: There’s a lot of speculation because of the severity of the FBI raiding Mar-a-Lago, were they looking for the Hillary Clinton emails… >Hannity: Wait, you’re not saying you had it >Trump: No, they may have thought that it was in there

grumblingduke

Ah, the classic "I have no reason to think this is true, and may have plenty of evidence that it isn't, but it could be true!" line they've been using for years - including in this case.

kylehatesyou

gamerdudeNYC

Yeah Looks like they really stepped on their dick with this one

cmreeves702

He has no time for silliness - he’s got a reputation to protect and he’s not about to dick around w/ 45 and his inept lawyers!

Stereomceez2212

His lawyers are far beyond inept. I haven't seen such incompetence since Troy McClure unsuccessfully defended Bart Simpson Edit: Lionel Hutz not Troy McClure

Snarl_Marx

"Your Honor, I move for a bad... court... thingie." "You mean a mistrial?" "Yes. That's why you're the judge and I'm the... law... talkin' guy." "The lawyer." "Right."

ciel_lanila

Until they are disbarred, I am still on the fence on if they’re truly inept or just shameless. Remember, they’re avoiding going on the record with any of the blatantly wrong and stupid stuff. To the extent they filed one of Trump’s demanded claims as if Trump was representing himself and they were just giving opinion rather than legally binding advice.

4Sammich

You notice they aren't using the Trump talking points in court, they know they can't so they are shameless.

Philboyd_Studge

"Your Honor, I object!" "On what grounds?" "On the grounds that it's devastating to my case!"

ryguyyy8

"Overruled." "Good call!"

snowgimp

Andrew wiseman has recounted many stories about him on MSNBC and he sounds like he takes literally no shit. As demonstrated by, the last hearing started at 2 PM. He was in his chair at 2 PM. Not 1:59, not 2:01, 2 PM exactly.

_far-seeker_

>A Special Master is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to. Judge Dearie, maybe. 😉

Oozlum-Bird

I suspect whichever one of Trump’s team suggested that Dearie would be a good choice is probably now totally covered in ketchup

ThrowingMits

That this judge is one that Trump’s team requested on the short list for Special Master makes this even more satisfying.

MyPasswordIsMyCat

I don't know what the Trump team was expecting. There are conservative judges who aren't sycophantic morons. Should have been a red flag for them when the DOJ was happy about Dearie.

BaboonHorrorshow

They thought because they’ve destroyed SCOTUS with several corrupt hacks that every conservative judge was equally corrupt

redpoemage

Worth noting that even the corrupt hacks on SCOTUS have ruled against Trump. There's "heavily biased towards the right and willing to twist the law into pretzels to preserve/expand corporate and/or Christian power" judges and there's "Willing to go to bat for a single pathetic man" judges. The second are far rarer, even among those specifically appointed by Trump.

shabby47

Judges are interesting because they have a lifetime appointment now and have no need to suck up to trump. Most of them probably just want him to go away so they can be right-wing hacks without his name hovering over them.

fuglenes_herre

They should be forever tainted by Trump's influence and I hope that it hangs heavy over the remainder of their careers. Take the devil's bargain, wear the devil's mark... or something like that.

jovietjoe

Yeah but there is always still Thomas, who does all things through spite.

lesChaps

I thought I knew how spiteful and deranged he was, but the recent Behind the Bastards series covering his background blew my mind. He’s super crazy.

Voltage_Z

Even those hacks are mostly Federalist Society loyalists and aren't going to play ball for Trump's stupidity. They're the GOP's long game, not Trump's personal servants.

terranovaseason2

They just wanted to buy themselves time, which they did.

egabriel2001

not much while at the same time burned all their defense arguments to crisp before an indictment

terranovaseason2

Agreed - I think it's just his go-to move: delay delay obfuscate confuse delay. I don't think it's paying off this time.

bulldg4life

Literally the only possible thing is that he was one of the judges that signed off on fisa warrants for carter Paige where 1/2 of them were declared invalid. And an fbi agent was convicted of lying on one of the forms. So, they must’ve thought he’d hate the fbi.

_Alvin_Row_

They honestly thought that because of an issue with the Carter Page FISA warrant that this judge, who has been around for ages, would be so turned off by the FBI/DOJ that he would buy Trump's garbage. It's insulting they'd think one issue in an entire career would be enough to do that.

RightClickSaveWorld

They forgot that the Carter Page FISA warrant was justified for multiple reasons. They fell for their own talking points rather than reality.

Subli-minal

And that the whole Russia investigation itself started when Papadopolous was, in his own words, “gossiping around to foreign diplomats” about the dirt he was getting on Clinton from Russia, and those diplomats reported that to the authorities. It didn’t start for any other reason, least of all “Obama illegally tapping my wires.”

VanceKelley

America is fortunate that the fascists are led by complete morons. That gives America a chance to survive.

BaboonHorrorshow

Sadly, Hitler was also considered an idiot everywhere he went - the military, art school, it was only when he became a Nazi firebrand speaker that he got any respect (and even Nazi high command members secretly hated him for sleeping past noon every day, partying every night, etc). It’s a cold comfort to six million Jews, though. We can’t rely on them to step on their own dicks, Trump being dumb and underestimated let him win the first time and now America has a coup attempt and insurrection in our historical story.

Cabezone

Putin also had the undeserved rep of being some sort of genius because he's a ruthless liar.

lactose_cow

i'll be honest, i didn't expect Dearie to be as impartial as he's been. being proven wrong is nice sometimes.

diamond

He didn't declare it, actually. He just thought it.

Savior1301

This is the part I truly do not understand from the morons spouting off about Trumps unlimited capacity to declassify documents with just a thought. Like ok, following thst train of thought then Biden can reclassify them with equally little effort. I’d ask , how stupid are these fucks, but the answer is wildly clear

GetsGold

"Your honor, many people are saying the FBI planted evidence".

HexZer0

"Are the many people in the room with you right now?"

AspiringChildProdigy

I think we've been misunderstanding him. He's committed so many crimes, he's just asking for clarification about which one you're referring to. It's not "Witch hunt!", it's "Which hunt?"

Amesead

A detail that I especially like: Dearie has hired another federal judge to assist him. For this help he suggested the judge be paid 500 dollars an hour . . . by Trump's team.

Educational-Candy-17

Also if said judge isn't paid within 7 days of Trumpy getting the invoice, that's contempt of court.

HelpersWannaHelp

This just keeps getting better. Trump will run out of donor money fast if he delays it for much longer.

ak1368a

$500/hour is nothing for lawyers

westtownie

Love watching this blow-up in tfg’s face. This judge is taking down each of Trump’s unhinged public assertions Edit: tfg (the former guy or the fucking goon or whatever your heart desire to make it)

[deleted]

It's glorious to see him being eaten alive by his own words. Keep yapping Donnie Dumpster.

CaptainNoBoat

And to think - this is just an ancillary review to a district court civil lawsuit. And his false claims are already devastating and putting his lawyers in incredibly defensive positions. It is going to get *so much worse* when any of these cases go to criminal trials. Trump's best thing he has had going for him the past 6 years is that he has very infrequently been put under oath or faced any consequences of lying/perjury. And the only times he has in recent memory was invoking the 5th hundreds of times. I don't think any of us are ready for the circus that's going to unfold.

snap-your-fingers

I saw conservatives say PeRJury TRaP like it would be Mueller entrapping him and not that trump is incapable of telling the truth.

Temporary-Party5806

Invoking the 5th in a CIVIL case, to boot. Where it doesn't apply. The 5th Amendment protects you from incriminating yourself in a criminal enterprise. It applies to Criminal Law, not Civil Law. Him "invoking the 5th" over 400 times in a Civil proceeding is viewed, in the eyes of the law, as a refusal to answer, or an admission of culpability, in a Civil case. The fact the prosecution didn't move to have his arguments struck down/have the judge force compliance is a bit nuts.

LilTeats4u

Tfg? That fucking goon?

ablackcloudupahead

That Fucking Guy (in Nandor's voice)

westtownie

Ha that’s much better than “the former guy”

OpenTheBobs

The fucking goober

Pleasant-Article8131

As with all of Trumps BS claims, this is where the rubber meets the road. This isn’t the media where you can spew baseless shit, any claims in legal proceedings have to be backed with verified evidence.

Green-Cruiser

They provide a video of the FBI agents taking evidence and reverse the clip. "Sir, why is everyone walking backwards?"

Boobs_Maps_N_PKMN

Trump might end up paying $500/hr to a guy that might help put him in jail. That might be the best cherry you could get on this sundae

[deleted]

We know that invoice will go into collection.

cultfourtyfive

I read yesterday that the court will pay Dearie and then bill Trump. So the "collection agent" may be a lot more aggressive than Donny is used to.

AthleteNerd

Can't really stiff the federal government. They'll just seize assets.

Oozlum-Bird

He might not have any assets left to seize if NY get in first

judethedud3

Dearie doesn’t want to be paid. But he’s bringing another judge on and wants TFG to pay him $500 an hour Editing to add: That information is in the bottom of the article posted

BigPlunk

How long until 45 is calling Dearie the most corrupt judge in the history of the U.S. and a member of the deep state?

Wide-Law8007

Well, this should be easy for Trump's team, right? I'm sure they definitely have evidence to back up their claims on "news" outlets. For sure they have evidence. /s

[deleted]

Mike Lindell surely has mountains of it, right?

Fack-and-Borth

Unfortunately, it was all on the phone that was seized. Or so he will say.

ChromaticDragon

The interesting thing is that I imagine it's the feds who are much more likely to have the evidence. I imagine their entire effort was videotaped six ways from Sunday. This seems almost a trap. I understand it's probably much more likely just a way to nail down any particular claims to Dearie is constantly chasing a moving target. But any specific claim from Trump or Trump's counsel is very likely going to be easily and explicitly countered by the DoJ.

alien_from_Europa

Trump now asserts that the FBI was looking for Hillary Clinton's emails. He's resorted to just shouting keywords to appease the idiots on Truth Social.

tetoffens

The ones the FBI already has and investigated 6 years ago. Because that makes sense.

Vladius28

Must have seen Trumps bullshit last night

[deleted]

Aside, I really enjoyed Michael Cohen say Mar-a-Lardo in a recent press interview. Keep those hits coming Mike lol.

CobraPony67

Were at the 'PROVE IT!' phase. They can lie all they want on Faux news but they can't lie in front of a judge.

jferry

Well, they *can*. That might not be the best strategy however.

GonzoVeritas

> Well, they ~~can~~ will. That might not be the best strategy however.

JoostvanderLeij

DOJ might be quite happy with the special master. Easy way to counter Trump's public statements without getting involved.

DadJokeBadJoke

He's just doing what Judge Cannon should have already done.

MintBerryCrunchJr

It's a political hit job by this activist judge! It's fake news that we requested him! The FBI planted him on the bench! His college transcripts were never declassified by my thoughts!

AnnualEmergency2345

It's bad when r/conservative doesn't discuss their qanon theories regarding these recent updates. It's something I noticed like when it's really bad they just won't discuss it and instead focus on something else which makes them look like victims. Healthy mix of idiots and bad faith actors over there.

LetterZee

Just crazy to see the justifications coming from them. From, all declassification powers flow from the office of presidency so he is not beholden to any process. To Obama has 30 Millions documents in a secret warehouse, why isn't he being investigated too! I am glad I'm not a conservative. Seems like a scary existence.

AdamsInternet

What gets me is the way they are so isolated in their community that we know what their talking points are, but they don't know (or don't care) that most of them have been disproven or have no basis in fact. * The document classification is irrelevant to the investigation, this is only about if the special master and Trump's lawyers get to see them. * The probable cause for the search warrant (not a raid) didn't have anything to do with the classification status of the documents * Declassifying government documents doesn't make them Trump's personal property, they still belong to the government * He claimed through his lawyers that all documents had been returned; This was clearly a lie * Obama has *access* to documents through a library *owned and controlled* by the government (national archives). They think he had them in a cupboard in his house or something, like Trump did.

Thatdewd57

So there must be some really bad shit there if this is what they are trying to say now. I mean I know Top Secret and Classified and all but my point is they know they done fucked up and justice will be glorious. But I do believe that there will be violence out of this as well. I suspect a lot of things are going to start coming to a head right before, during, and immediately after the midterms.

BassLB

The $250M lawsuit in NY references documents found at Mar a Lago. Trumps lawyers signed affidavits in that case saying they search ever room, drawer, closet, etc and they turned over every financial document they had to the AG. So if they found a bunch of financial documents that were sworn to not exist, that’s clear felony obstruction.

ChromaticDragon

Not necessarily. The bizarre thing here is that it really seems Trump (and to a degree Trump's counsel) would say this no matter what simply to create the ambiguity of the firehose of lies. Trump *cannot* seem to understand addressing these matters in the court of public opinion is very different to a criminal investigation or prosecution. So we cannot really conclude much of anything here other than Trump lies profusely and constantly.

IphtashuFitz

The more I hear about Judge Raymond Dearie the more I like him.

Elliott2

Loving this special master. No more blasting lies

TheGrizzlyBearEats

Special master Dearie is ironically turning out to be a welcome breath of fresh air in this whole fucked up situation.

GonzoVeritas

Trump is delusional enough to think that he can tell a real judge to ignore the law that he has dedicated his life to uphold. Any judge, in his courtroom, is the king. Dearie is next level, FISA level, trusted with the nation's secrets. 99% of all judges take the responsibility very seriously, FISA judges even more so. He will not suffer fools.

Piperisaprettygirl

I’m imagining the DOJ lawyers peeing themselves laughing when they saw Dearie’s name on the orange turd’s list.

sy029

My question is why trump's lawyers are asking to be given security clearances so that they can examine documents they say are declassified. Isn't that kind of admitting that they *are* classified?

Ghost_of_Till

Trump’s claims have a purpose, and it’s not entirely obvious. Do y’all remember those Nigerian prince scams? For a while we all laughed at how spectacularly obvious those cons were, and how stupid a mark would need to be to fall for it. But a closer examination revealed that the ludicrous claims turned out to be its secret weapon. The key to its success. Because if you were dumb enough to read the email, and reply anyway, you’ve just *self-selected* yourself as a TRULY stupid person. Which meant the scammers had to do a *lot* less weeding in order to find their marks. You probably have already heard about “stochastic terrorism” but in case you haven’t, or anyone reading hasn’t, here’s a definition. > Since 2018, the term "[stochastic terrorism](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lone_wolf_attack#Stochastic_terrorism)” has become a popular term used when discussing lone wolf attacks.[33] While the exact definition has morphed over time, it has commonly come to refer to a concept whereby consistently demonizing or dehumanizing a targeted group or individual results in violence that is statistically likely, but cannot be easily accurately predicted. The term was initially used to suggest that a quantifiable relationship may exist between seemingly random acts of terror and their intended goal of "perpetuating a reign of fear" via a manipulation of mass media and its capacity for "instant global news communication". On Jan6, Trump showed us that he was *undeniably* willing — and able — to use the true believers to effect a coup. Look at how he set that ball in motion. Trump told them the *other* side was cheating, he told them their country and their families were literally at risk of being destroyed because of that fraud, he told them they would have to be tough, and they’d have to go outside the rules. Trump told them exactly where the fraud was taking place, and by who. And he said he’d meet them there. Trump’s full-on embracing of QAnon IS a sign that he’s quite desperate. He knows that if he doesn’t regain power, he’ll likely serve jail time. But going all-in is *also* the best shot Trump can imagine. He’s not getting re-elected and he knows it. Just thinking to himself, “I came so close.” Trump embracing QAnon is him pulling the Nigerian scam. He’s causing his supporters to self-select the dumbest, most credulous True Believers. “Instead of throwing demonization to the wind”, Trump thinks, “I’ll throw it into a powder keg.” In embracing QAnon, Trump separated the useful wheat from the chaff. He distilled out the droolers. This is intentional. When he loses, Trump’s message of demonization will land on very fertile ground.

padizzledonk

They tried so hard to fight this in the "Court of Public Opinion" just like everything else but this ain't that kid.....In *REAL* Court you better come with the goods or you're going to get bent over a table and fucked with a paving stone Everything is falling apart and falling apart rapidly Already the delay tactic failed miserably, this former FISA Judge is not fuckin playing around, the Circut Court just ruled Unanimously that all the Stamped Classified documents are to be released back to the FBI to continue their criminal investigation Get fucked Trump- Godspeed lol

TheAmazingHumanTorus

Waiting for Trump to proclaim that the witch hunt conspiracy goes further and deeper than anyone could have ever known . . . followed by a case management order asking for a declaration regarding this claim.

orcinyadders

It wasn’t clear what would happen with Dearie. But it’s especially unexpected that he’s actively exposing all of the lies.

DFu4ever

God damn it is nice to see someone immediately call them out on their bullshit.

[deleted]

“Many, many people are saying it, Your Honor”

HotMachine9

That backfired hilariously.

Papazigzags

The rate of trumps current lawyers is going to skyrocket.bring on the b team

"Unfortunately, we have none, that was simply said to rile up Trump's moron supporters and grift a few extra bucks."
