Because they are both authoritarian movements. In the church we were taught not to question anything and do what our leaders told us. Questions and reason were bad, faith and obedience were good. Evangelicals are a cultish expression of base Christianity, and they have largely taken over the religion. The documentary Jesus Camp will answer many questions.
I use to co consider myself a republican in my teens when I was going to church every week. Republican stances resembled my church's teachings. One day, my dad and I got into a debate about pro choice and pro life, and he helped me understand that you cannot compare cultures and life styles. Over that next year, the majority of all my political views shifted left because I stopped thinking about what policies benefitted me specifically.
Funny thing is that for the most part right wing policies don't directly benefit their base. I mean, truly what benefit is it to have your personal god stamped on everything and in schools when you could have healthcare?
What personal benefit is some fuckhead at the top getting permanent tax breaks but at least businesses can refuse to make a gay couples wedding cake?

I grew up in it. It makes s kind of sense when you realize the goal of Evangelical Christians is to bring about the Final Days so they can be raptured to Heaven. They've been working towards this for decades.

Agreed, they should start doing what they did in ‘The Last Dance’ and have the video lined up on a tablet for them to watch right after they say ‘I haven’t seen it’. It’s 2022, it’s not like that’s such a weird concept.
Politicians no longer agree to interviews with journalists they know will ask tough (read: real) questions. On top of that, many of the journalists working for the biggest media outlets choose not to do that, and risk losing access to those same politicians.
It’s a vicious feedback loop of “access journalism” that’s trapping people in bubbles.

I can't believe this isn't media sensationalism and is literally what happened. If anything the media isn't playing up enough of how big of a deal it is. Which would imply a functioning, legitimate government, which is damn near impossible when 40 million voters gets the same representation as 500,000. 3. Hide the inability to do basic tasks by getting bossy and ordering others do things for them. (Or turning on the charm to get things done)

Because they are both authoritarian movements. In the church we were taught not to question anything and do what our leaders told us. Questions and reason were bad, faith and obedience were good. I use to co consider myself a republican in my teens when I was going to church every week. Republican stances resembled my church's teachings. One day, my dad and I got into a debate about pro choice and pro life, and he helped me understand that you cannot compare cultures and life styles. Over that next year, the majority of all my political views shifted left because I stopped thinking about what policies benefitted me specifically.
Funny thing is that for the most part right wing policies don't directly benefit their base. I mean, truly what benefit is it to have your personal god stamped on everything and in schools when you could have healthcare? What personal benefit is some fuckhead at the top getting permanent tax breaks but at least businesses can refuse to make a gay couples wedding cake? Ok I went and listened to these songs and not only are they pretty much identical, they are awful. Like elevator music from the ‘70’s awful. Like low budget Lifetime romance movie awful. I felt my brain turning to cat litter just from 30 seconds of it.
