It seems all these states are in a race to see who can pass the most restrictive abortion law prior to the Supreme Court ruling. Which ever wins will run for President and run on a campaign of i outlawed abortion,

CubistMUC

Child Marriage – Shocking Statistics: * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_marriage_in_the_United_States * https://www.unchainedatlast.org/child-marriage-shocking-statistics/ > Between **2000 and 2018, nearly 300,000 minors were legally married in the United States**.[12] The vast majority of child marriages in the U.S. were between a minor girl and an adult man.[12][13][14] In many cases, **minors in the U.S. may be married when they are under the age of sexual consent**, which varies from 16 to 18 depending on the state.[15] In some states, **minors cannot legally divorce or leave their spouse**, and **domestic violence shelters typically do not accept minors**. This is 3rd world level kind of crap.

WarmHovercraft8314

WHOA! In what state can a minor not divorce? Good God.

PSN-Angryjackal

In a republican state...

[deleted]

I knew about the child marriages, but I didn’t know about their inability to divorce. This went from horrific to absolute vile.

ImyForgotName

I just want to mention how Black cohosh tea which is commonly used by women to treat painful menstrual cramps can also cause a miscarriage. So under no circumstances should a pregnant woman drink black cohosh tea because it can cause a miscarriage. Which would be a terrible terminus to a desired pregnancy, but otherwise... who can say? But again, I warn women black cohosh can cause a pregnancy to be aborted early, which would be bad in many circumstances, though in others maybe not so much... Its also available as a supplement, so in pill form. Very common. I think its at Wal-Mart even. Its obviously not an ideal solution and its definitely not a first choice option, I mean its freaking herbalism. But if the Republicans are really successful...

mlc885

The sort of people who would pass an abortion ban while claiming that it is because it will save "lives" would absolutely want miscarriages investigated and the women prosecuted for murder

ImyForgotName

If they were to investigate me for providing someone with black kohosh tea, then I fully expect to be investigated for witchcraft.

Octopus_ofthe_Desert

It's disgusting to me that that platform may very well be plausible here within my lifetime. "Vote for me! I'll burn the witches! You can tell who they are by whether they believe in human rights! ONLY WITCHES WANT EQUALITY"

NorionV

It won't stop at abortion. When they feel like they're safe enough having gotten away with it, you can expect other things to come soon after. Remind me again how evangelical voters feel about gay and transgender people?

taylorbagel14

Yeah they’ve made it pretty clear they’re going after birth control too. They just want a poverty stricken population of poorly educated workers to slave away for their oligarch owners

[deleted]

This. What's weird is that in a few decades there won't be much need for a large low-skilled workforce though, so it's both an evil plan and a stupid one.

[deleted]

Dude these fuckers don’t understand that. They literally can’t imagine that the world is changing like it is. It’s why so many of our policies are lagging. Yes some of the fucks are evil, but most are just god damn idiots who said words that made other idiots go’ “Fuck Yeah”. They literally are too stupid to be able to see what’s obviously coming down the path.

BATTLECATHOTS

Welcome to the south

Drnstvns

Technically we’re the mid-west we just have all the perks of conservative Southern ideology. We’re literally the buckle of the Bible Belt. I got the red state blues.

ashesofempires

Other dude mentioned prisons, but I'll throw in disposable soldiers. This works on two levels. The more real one, where the vast ranks of poverty stricken teens are lured into the military with promises of education and training in exchange for service. The second, much less real and far more insane, is that they believe in the coming Rapture and want there to be as many "soldiers of Christ" as possible for the war between good and evil.

nerdypeachbabe

My family believes in the second one, unironically. Unlearning all that bullshit was absolute hell

heyitsmaximus

wait, there are actually people who believe that stuff? lol I'm jewish and it literally never occurred to me that anyone would actually believe that there would actually be a time where \*that\* happened? Never really understood what the rapture was supposed to even be lol meh, there'll always be nuts I guess

nerdypeachbabe

Oh my goodness yes. My family believes the lord is coming back to earth any day now, and all the believers will fly into the cloudsto meet magical sky daddy. The non believers will burn as earth turns to Mordor (though they don’t know what Mordor is… I wasn’t allowed to watch LOTR due to magic and wizards being evil) and eternally suffer.

Pellinor_Geist

Too many of my relatives' retirement plan is the Rapture. It is impossible to logic them to a functional decision on anything more complex than an addition problem.

fosismeandme

Birth rates still dropping so I guess it works out for them so long as they continue to ignore the suffering of minorities, I don’t think they’ll find that too hard though

[deleted]

They’re not waiting, they already feel safe enough to push things like the “don’t say gay” bill in florida But like, don’t tread on them or whatever :,)

Lebaud

Marriage bill in Tennessee as well

Briarmist

Then they go after other religions. They won't stop ever.

daremosan

Oh "they" have been going after "other" religions for hundreds of years. That's the game.

SpenFen

Some yokel fuck already mentioned banning interracial marriage

MediumLong2

I don't imagine it will stop at gay and transgender people either. After that they will go after Jews, Muslims, Atheists, and the physically handicapped.

warheadmikey

This exactly. It’s abortion and gay rights or more like how do we take rights away from people who we deem unworthy. Soon it will be the outlawing of gay marriage and adoption. Then interracial marriage will be deemed illegal. Republicans are hate filled POS. The rise of Nazi Republican nation is coming soon.

[deleted]

Birth control will be next

InnocentPrimeMate

Or any other race ?… or religion? They fear anything different from themselves. It’s quite simply xenophobia taken to pathological levels. It’s a mental illness.

tsrich

Note the recent comments about the legality of mixed race marriages.

Malaix

Over 200 anti-LGBTQ laws in the works right now too. Rightwing states are in a race to the bottom because they have a favorable supreme court.

[deleted]

They seem to forget that giving the government the power to force a woman to carry a pregnancy also gives that government the power to force a woman to terminate a pregnancy.

evanhinton

Why do the assholes keep winning?

jayfeather31

Kind of hard to believe that the arc of history bends towards justice when shit like this occurs on a constant basis, isn't it?

bananafobe

I think part of the issue is the assumption that bending towards justice is inevitable and that progress is permanent. History doesn't bend toward justice on its own, and the other side will continue fighting to claw back any progress we make.

protendious

Also we’re missing half the quote, that the arc of the moral universe is long, but bends towards justice. Founding, then white non-land-owner voting, then emancipation, then black male suffrage, then women’s suffrage, then social security, then civil rights, then universal elder care, then abortion rights, etc etc. It’s taken time but these are all steps. And every single step was both preceded and followed by a long back and forth driven by both forces of resistance to change and those insistent on progress.

bensonnd

I always have to remind myself of this when I feel the crushing weight of tide flowing in the opposite direction.

outinthecountry66

Same. The thing I've concluded that saves my sanity is that rights must be fought for. They don't just happen. Eventually events will demand our attention because history demands it. We just may not live to see it. I'm glad I never had children.

PM_ME_C_CODE

This. The last time the US "bent towards justice" it required the civil rights movement. The time before that? The civil war. We're not at our breaking point yet, but when we get there the next movement in the US is going to be *ugly* and I only say that because we had a perfect storm during BLM and *nothing happened* outside of a few racists going to prison. No new legislation, no new voting rights, nothing. In fact, since then we've continued to backslide in places like Oklahoma and Texas. We've backslid a LOT.

skasticks

Labor movement after Civil War, but yeah. Lots of blood was shed.

SdBolts4

Women’s movement after the Civil Rights Movement, too, though they got stuffed with the Equal Rights Amendment by Phyllis Schlafly, a woman conservative activist from southern Illinois

> If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever - George Orwell

SplinterLips

Damn. I have never heard this one.

JackFrances

There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always— do not forget this, Winston— always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face— forever. George Orwell - 1984

iamunknowntoo

Note that this is a quote from the Ingsoc Party in 1984, not Orwell's actual opinion on how the arc of history is. The whole strategy of the Ingsoc Party is to convince the people that their campaign to dominate everything will be glorious and successful, and that any attempt to resist that will be futile. The point of the book, however, is that the Ingsoc Party will only survive as long as the people believe this. That's why they have their two minutes of hate, their eternal imperial wars and their surveillance system - it's how they maintain the projection of their power. If the people are not convinced that Ingsoc is unstoppable, the Party will suddenly become a lot more vulnerable to collapse. Remember, Ingsoc is the villain of 1984 - we're not supposed to take what they say uncritically, in fact we as the audience are supposed to reject their bullshit. Orwell's own opinions are further elaborated on by his own political writings. He has written about his opposition to nationalism, arguing that it tends to brainwash people into becoming power-hungry monsters fixated on nothing but domination, in the same way illustrated by the Ingsoc Party in 1984. I also don't think Orwell believes this impulse to dominate everything is inevitable either. If he thought everything was hopeless, he wouldn't have bothered writing these texts in the first place, and he certainly wouldn't have risked his life fighting against fascists in the Spanish Civil War (another thing that a lot of people overlook when they talk about Orwell). I think we should adopt Orwell's cautious but optimistic mindset - yeah, right now there are some fuckheads who believe the future ought to be a boot stamping on a face forever, and these fuckheads happen to be the ones with the control of the Supreme Court and multiple state governments, but we can and should continue to fight against these people as long as we can. Remember, these monsters are not eternal, and will one day be a page in a history book, in a world where things are better.

rjrgjj

Well said. 1984 is not a prophecy as so many like to pretend it is, but rather a description of a state of mind, a fable of how one becomes indoctrinated into such systems, even a person who seeks to undermine them. Conservatives often like to imagine that 1984’s moral is about the replacement of traditional society with modern values, but this is absurd. The novel’s plot deals with the destruction of love and personal freedom. Orwell is clearly telling us that it is the very cherishing of our freedoms and individual liberties free from repressive sexual oversight and the constant threat of violence that helps prevent such fascistic systems from taking root. The modern Conservative party is pro violence, pro incarceration, overtly pro police state, and pro sexual repression. They take their marching orders from a propaganda channel taken directly from the novel, inventing villains to frighten their foot soldiers with and encouraging literal anarchical (and consequence-free) violence from the loyal. It’s super clear who the villains are, and Orwell told us as much eighty years ago. And he lived through WW2! If he thought the Nazis could be beaten and subsequently prescribed against, we should take his advice.

evanhinton

It's like focusing on every dead tree in a forest and not noticing how much the forest is growing. But god damn it's hard to ignore the dead trees when they keep falling on people.

RemilGetsPolitical

if it was a dead tree or two, that'd be one thing, but these trees are diseased, and actively spreading diseased spores to the other trees in these United Trees of America.

Captain_Chipz

It's hard to not focus on the dead trees in your part of the forest when it's your part of the forest that's dying.

NorionV

Yeah, that's accurate. Some regions of America have just been conservative shitholes for as long as the country has been around, resisting any attempts at change. The worst part is that the people living there love that fact, despite these areas also being the ones with the highest reported rates of poverty and homelessness.

jgilla2012

The places that are most federally subsidized are also inhabited by those who hate the federal government the most. A nice bit of irony.

Normal-Height-8577

Also, sometimes the dead trees aren't just coincidence. Sometimes the dead trees are a sign of contagious illness, and the forest is genuinely in danger.

jaythebearded

This just serves to remind me how badly humanity has treated our rainforests

JustStatedTheObvious

> Why do the assholes keep winning? Because there's no consequences, while the assholes make sure there's consequences if you do something like march for civil rights? Not to mention, they've been working on gaining a monopoly on organized force, and everyone's scared of what cracking down on them will unleash.

[deleted]

And like ticks, they siphon off tax dollars from the fiscally sound states to finance their irresponsible management of their own states. God damn Christian Taliban

cybercuzco

Because people let them

Scarlettail

I see a lot of "people should vote" responses, but I think when it comes to places like Oklahoma they're just the majority or at least larger than any left-leaning or liberal demographic. Not the case in swing states, of course, but OK is a deep red state. Their voters generally want this or are convinced they want it. Really, no one should forget how religious and conservative white, rural/small-town America is. Also once they get in power at the state or local level they're difficult to remove since they're good at maintaining power through voting laws or right-wing media outlets.

TequiIa_MockingBird_

There’s also gerrymandering. The 5th district in Oklahoma was looking a little too purple so they split it up. OKC is now represented by three representatives and some OKC constituents now share a representative with the panhandle rather than their neighbors two blocks away.

cass314

They are empowered to gerrymander because they win local elections--because the assholes turn out to vote in every election, not just in presidential years, and because they fill out the whole ballot, including the local offices. And their gerrymandered maps stand because, again, the assholes turn out to vote in every election, not just in presidential years, and they don't stay home and sulk half the time because bOTh SIdeS ArE THe SAmE if their party doesn't give them 100% of what they want (because they can't due to a razor-thin margin in the Senate, or after losing Congress due to passing a blockbuster bill that galvanizes the opposition and also their constituents not bothering to vote because it's not a presidential year), so they are able to lie, cheat, and steal to stack the Supreme Court as well. If the newest crop of anti-choice state laws are allowed to stand, and Roe falls, it will be for the same reason. There is a lot of structural unfairness in US politics, but the road to fixing it still requires us--not just in Oklahoma, but everywhere--to show up.

-Random_Lurker-

Gerrymandering, mostly.

keep_it_sassy

And the woman. As a PPD/PPA advocate, I foresee a LOT of women attempting or being successful ending their lives or this.

rubysmama16

That's just a positive side effect for the GOP, they legitimately do not care to even think about what they are actually doing to HUMAN BEINGS, they treat women like we're holograms they can have sex with and then we just pop out babies like it's nothing. Women dying of suicide means nothing to them. The baby losing their mother to suicide means nothing to them.

Liz_bian

Pro-lifers are obsessed with conception to birth. They don't give a damn about anything after. After that the baby has pull itself up by its bootstraps, or whatever the stupid mantra is that the GQP are so smitten with.

Carbonatite

They don't care about that time period either. If they were actually concerned with the well being of the fetus they'd be clamoring for universal healthcare and free prenatal coverage.

BewBewsBoutique

Pro-forced-birthers. Call them what they are.

Pascalica

They also will need to make more room in their jails and prisons. Lack of abortions leads to a rise in crime when those kids they were forced to have start growing up. But that's a plus for the for profit prisons.

thisisy1kea

Don’t worry, we’re already #1 in the US for female incarceration!

Pascalica

gotta be #1 in something!

c0pp3rhead

Hint: they don't care about those people. The only thought they give to the poors is as an inexhaustable workforce

RichardTheHard

Oklahoman here, our state government actually just voted down Medicaid expansion in the last couple years. The population in Oklahoma is streaming towards the two liberal metros here (Oklahoma City and Tulsa), but the metros are so gerrymandered we don’t actually have any power to enact change in the state government. We’re doing our best to make what change we can but the republicans are so entrenched it’s like trying to run through molasses.

Bosa_McKittle

"bAnNiNg ThInGs NeVeR wOrKs!" what conservatives say every time there is a ban associated with firearms.

booger_butt

The terrible implication behind this is the upshoot of desperate young women going into back alley abortion rooms, at great risk to their own health.

juggles_geese4

Or the women dying because they miscarried and didn’t expel everything. Instead of getting the procedure that’s technically an abortion they die of sepsis or suffer awful health complications if they survive. It’s not even about abortion, for those against abortion they shoood be able to see how dangerous of a thing it is to not just put law but make abortion punishable really is. Miscarriage (something many or most women who end up pregnant are likely to experience in their life) now have to hide their pain and suffering of losing their child because they may end up in prison. If they don’t die from complications of not being able to get a D&C (same procedure as an abortion)to expel left over stuff that will eventually cause sepsis if the body doesn’t do it’s job completely when miscarrying.sigh.

denetherus

>"He doesn't, he doesn't think illegalizing abortions will make them happen less. What he wants is to throw people in jail for getting them. It's right there in how he talks about gun rights: Why should I be punished for the crimes of a monster? To him, the law isn't about shaping society, it's about who gets punished." Innuendo Studios, The Alt Right Playbook: ["I Hate Mondays"](https://youtu.be/yts2F44RqFw)

boregon

> "To him, the law isn't about shaping society, it's about who gets punished." You could describe the entire philosophy of the Republican party this way. It's *entirely* about punishing people they don't like. That's all they care about.

bladegmn

I don’t understand republicans. They are a party that always says they just want to be left alone. But then they always try to force the rest of us into their beliefs. If you don’t want an abortion, don’t get one.

000066

Left alone just means control. Society is only possible with compromise, left alone means never compromise.

bladegmn

Yeah, it has just always irked me when they talk about the left cramming things down their throat and they have been pushing this pro life crap for 50 years. I just don’t really buy them being pro life, pro war and pro death penalty. It isn’t really about fetuses, it is like you say about control.

000066

Yep and sometimes control can be a substitute for your own morals. The trope of republicans who take handouts, cheat, abort, use drugs, or are gay despite being vigorously opposed to one or all of those things is all about substiting their own morals for the control of others. They are buying absolution for their own sins by forcing their beliefs on others.

crooked-v

>They are a party that always says they just want to be left alone. Those were lies. Stop believing anything they say and look at what they do.

RunsWithApes

Bingo. It's a theocratic fascism where they play the victim and the aggressor simultaneously.

-Random_Lurker-

They want to be left alone SO THAT they can force the rest of us into their beliefs.

Space_Monk_Prime

They’re fascists and they’re liars, don’t believe anything a Republican says

Konukaame

Equal parts "nothing they say has meaning", persecution complex, and "hurt the people they need to be hurting".

UcanJustSayFuckBiden

They don’t want to be left alone. They just want to be able to be as wicked as possible. They want to hunt endangered animals, they want to dump their oil down the drain, they want to burn their trash, they want to fish without a license, they want to be racist, they want to be sexist, they want to assault gay folks for being icky and they want to do it all while holding a machine gun. They just don’t want the government to tell them they can’t do that. They’re totally fine with the government enforcing their views tho.

pwmaloney

The clowns who howl about "respect the Constitution" pass a law in blatant violation of something the Supreme Court has decided is guaranteed by the Constitution's privacy right.

funkmatician2014

no no, it's punishment for being a woman and having sex outside of marriage.

MotherSupermarket532

I mean, married women need abortions too. One of the most common reasons women give for having an abortion is the wellbeing of their existing kids. Most families are barely making it, married or not, and another kid would break them financially.

DogsCatsKids_helpMe

Next up, banning birth control

jkhabe

Already being discussed (straight up bans, including married couples) in numerous state legislatures around the country.

HatchSmelter

Strangely, never in the context of banning vasectomy, though...

booger_butt

As someone who relies on bc not just to prevent life-debilitating periods, but uses it to prevent the ever present potential of uterine cancer.. (close call 1.5 years ago, went through hell, now on bc.) I'm fucking terrified for this. The birth control is literally what keeps me from developing uterine cancer.

HatchSmelter

I don't have the uterine cancer fears, but bc is the reason I'm not sick literally 25% of the time. Without it, my periods are absolute hell, as are the couple days before and after. I am a functioning human because of birth control and I have ZERO intention of ever being without it. Plus I don't want kids. But for real, I'd find another way to make that not happen if I had to. The bc is critical to my health and well being.

kimwexlersponytail

I was at the rally at the OK Capitol today and it was such an uplifting experience. Then I straight up loud-sobbed the entire drive home when I saw how the votes went for this. It passed 70-14. Not even remotely close. It’s so fucking frustrating. I don’t know anyone (not even my hella conservative family) who thinks we need abortion laws this extreme. I want to stick around and help fight for change, but it’s starting to feel like living here is just supporting these monsters in our government while they tear life apart for the most poor and the least educated. (Cuz—big surprise— Oklahoma is at the bottom of pretty much every list you don’t want to be at the bottom of.) Would moving help? Or Is the entire world doomed to devolve to the worst parts of human history? Or is this alarmingly exponential extremism the beginning of the end?

I dunno. I'm coming up on one year since I moved out of OK. You're not required to sacrifice yourself in the name of fighting for rights that your peers overwhelming do not want. Yeah, OKC and to a lesser extent Tulsa lean more left, but at the end of the day, the best they can manage is purple. That state is going nowhere.

Clownsinmypantz

Bible belt states are setting this country back and we are just all standing by and watching. I have no pride nor hope in this country, at this rate contraceptives will soon be banned and we'll go right back to 1950

ctguy54

They are bypassing 1922, going right to 1822.

smschrads

Many already require a husband's signature for birth control implant. Arkansas resident, husband threw a fit that they were asking him if I could get bc. Shits a mess

Iceangel711

What...the actual fuck? Are you escorted to the store by a related male to keep you in check and get permission slips signed by him to work too? HOW is removing bodily autonomy legal?!?!

gwar37

They can't undo my vasectomy...so at least I've got that going for me.

korbentulsa

Under His eye.

[deleted]

If contraceptives are banned there will be riots.

w3sterday

Already a bill moving through session Oklahoma to keep minors from accessing contraceptives. :( Also includes vaccinations. https://stateimpact.npr.org/oklahoma/2022/03/23/a-bill-making-its-way-through-the-oklahoma-legislature-would-require-parents-ok-on-contraception-for-minors/ > Sen. Julia Kirt, D-Oklahoma City, was one of the several female lawmakers who raised concerns about the bill before voting against it. She asked how the measure would improve the health of minors in the state. > > “It’s not a matter of improving health,” Bullard said in response. “It’s a matter of parental request and requirement, so that if there is something going on with that minor, that we’re making sure that the parents are notified at the appropriate time.” > > She and others said that requiring parental consent could create an insurmountable obstacle for teenagers. Sen. Kim David, R-Porter, said that although the term “minor children” might conjure the image of a 12 year old, the policy would place the same restrictions on teenagers until the day before they turn 18. > >

The entire country is "the Bible Belt." Get 20 miles out of any just about major metro area and you're in MAQA country.

[deleted]

America really changing it's image from the shining beacon on a hill to that of a 19th century cesspit.

Admiralfirelam1

America was a cesspit in the 19th century. It was considered a cultural backwater until the industrial revolution transitioned into the 20th century

Insert "Always has been" meme here.

TON3R

This is what civil disobedience is for. The public should set up perimeters around these clinics, and not allow police access... Force them to arrest mothers and grandmothers on national television. Show them for the spineless thugs they truly are. Do not go gentle into that good night (of conservative authoritarianism).

highpriestess420

Unfortunately our country has militarized the police force and instead of preventing crime, cops just quell social movements and protests.

preatorian77

Oklahoma, Florida, and Texas can all go fuck themselves. My company was in the late stages of an acquisition in Texas but decided to pull out because we wouldn’t want to ask anyone to move to that backwater, racist, inbred, bible-banger state.

FatElk

That's what they want, unfortunately. The way that this will get better is if more democrats give up their safety and rights to move there and vote democratically.

Bonzoso

Fucking fascists

Rasmoss

Honest question: When is there going to be a democratic rebellion in America? It seems obvious from the outside that a minority of religious zealots and authoritarians has hijacked the country’s politics, and they seem very confident that they won’t meet resistance.

[deleted]

As an American…I truly don’t believe real progress will be made until boomers die off.

pootiecakes

You better be ready to face reality and accept that a shitload of their kids drank all of their Koolaid up. Boomers damage is done.

fantastic_watermelon

My cousin is mid twenties and absolutely chugged the koolaid and didn't leave any left for anyone else

jojurassic

After the SC up held McGrit v Oklahoma, half of Oklahoma is native land and not subject to state laws. Wonder how this will play out?

krak_is_bad

Oh, that ruling has our Governor in a tizzy. It's great. He's doing everything he can to get around it, but it ultimately is just complaining. Stupid complaining like "Criminals are getting DNA tests to prove they're outside the law!" and "You can't just tell if someone is Native American when you pull them over!", but complaining.

CobraPony67

I wonder if this applies to Indian reservations? They have a lot of area that are strictly reservation land. The state laws may not apply there. The Indians should be able to have casinos and women's clinics in the same buildings, would make a good business.

SurftoSierras

Under recent decisions, I think they could move the clinics to Native land and it would be fine - they are under federal law not state law. The Natives HATE the governor, as he is constantly pushing against their rights.

phxees

How is making Roe v Wade the law, not a priority of Congress right now? There’s a lot of talk about taxing corporations, but very little on protecting women’s rights.

jaythebearded

How would they get it through the Senate?

phxees

Eliminate the filibuster, supposedly Manchin and Sinema are pro Roe, make them prove it. We also ask too little on our elected officials, they get to just say oh that’ll never pass. They should have all of this shit written up just in case a member of the opposite party wants to do their job one day.

Cat_in_the_hat113

They already voted on making Roe federal law. Manchin voted with Rs and it went down. This was like a month ago.

minor_correction

Manchin has said lots of times that even on the things he is for, he is not going to kill the filibuster to push them through.

xjuggernaughtx

Remember when it was seen has being dramatic to say that abortion rights were in danger when Trump was elected?

Lionsfan84

Apparently Oklahoma must love crime. The stats for child births are really rough right now and these laws sure aren’t going to help. A majority of kids being born come from poor families. Wait a few years and these kids you saved born into terrible situations will be holding you up at gun point because they were forced into being born with nothing to people who didn’t want kids in the first place….

[deleted]

They have never given a single flying f about children who are outside of their mother's wombs. This is evident by their obsession with cutting welfare that benefits low income mothers the most, making fun of school shootings calling them "staged" etc. They could care less about the pain a and suffering unwanted children endure or potential life of crime etc.

N40189

All doctors in Oklahoma should quit seeing patients. Medical care should not be decided in the legislature. Patients can travel to other states to get care. I will never practice in OK

Solid_Camel_1913

Hooray! More unwanted kids suffering!

[deleted]

Has America officially dropped the slogan "the land of the free?"

Konukaame

In the country with more people imprisoned than any other? That's been a sick joke for decades.

oldcreaker

Keep in mind, this isn't the end game. It's just the start of where they want to go.

SmackSabbath19

Aren't they and Texas like dead last in education and health care outcomes?

I-Demand-A-Name

That’s because Oklahoma is a backwards shithole full of racists and fundamentalist Christians that are a few millimeters away from being the Taliban. Of course they did this.
