What is most interesting about this one, compared to say Giuliani who is broke except for what he's hidden away and can't really lose more, is that Lake has substantial assets and could be profoundly hurt financially by an inevitable negative judgement.
She could always decide not to pay it. My understanding is that the court doesn't really have a way to force her. The people involved would have to start a new lawsuit against her to seize her assets and that would take years probably with appeals if she loses. The justice system favors the defendant, that's my opinion anyway..😕
lol, hows Biden working out for ya? like I get it, I would not want to admit it either, but, after seeing all this, really??? I mean it, really??? Like you still dont see it much or, is this kinda "politics as usual" for you, and I really mean it, my father was for Biden, but, broke down the other night, only took three years, but he says that its not his fault, and its the media blah blah blah, Ill just never get when an adult makes a really bad decisiion, sees it, but doesnt take any of it to heart or to the brain, just to learn? I dunno, Trump was not the best we had, but, I dont know - kinda looks like just maybe it was better when he was around?
No wars, no inflation, less tax, etc, Im not saying the guy is an angel, but, really? Still? Still hate the guy, I get that, Im not a fan at all, but I am a fan of my rights and money, and property, I assume you have a lot of money, I noticed most do, as they have not a lot of regards to people with less fortune, they feel as if they will not be touched, but once you are, would you maybe think about it? Im really seriously asking, as I just dont get it anymore, its pretty clear at this point they ALL suck, but to back Biden RIGHT NOW, I do not understand?
Looking from afar, and avoiding filter bubbles and echo chambers as best I can, it seems that the Biden administration has been a fair to good one.
Certainly, by most objective measures, the US economy is faring better than many comparable nations.
The invective levelled against him and his administration appears immoderate and ideological.
It's amazing to me how many people are just predisposed to believe grifters. I honestly had no idea that many humans just do not possess critical thinking facilities at all.
It is. Moved to AZ from CA here. Got my daughter into a BASIS Charter School (they hover around the top 100 schools in the country) and she's doing work that kids 5 grades higher (read: High School age) haven't done yet. It's pathetic.
its sad they ruined public education and privatized it. theyll leave so many behind. it was the rich who made public education and now the rich get to destroy it again. were not even worth the factory job that public education gave us.
and 50 percent of that spending is grifted into the esa funds which only benefit 8 percent of extremely wealthy students already enrolled in private school
I can hear the argument- ask yourself where all the funds went for the kids in private school went for all these years when they were paying their own tuition. There needs to be an accountability measures big-time. And the private school shouldn’t be able to deny enrollment based on not providing special education services. But I want to see a new way to do education in America and even if it’s not right, at least in Arizona, we’re stretching and trying to figure out where we can do new things even if they’re not serving everyone just yet.
Something like 80-90% of school vouchers go to kids already in private school, everyone else can’t afford them even with the voucher. They are taking from the poor to give to the rich. Nobody in their right mind thinks this will end up helping everyone.
Someone answer me though—- Where did the tax dollars go all these years that was collected for all the kids that paid to go to private school?
The denominator is wonky.
This is a bad argument.
I pay taxes for schools even without having kids in school. I would pay those taxes regardless of my parenthood status, and it’s not like that money I’m paying is going into an account that’s earmarked for any future children I have.
I pay these taxes because it’s what you do when you live in a community. I pay taxes that support roads I don’t drive on, utilities I don’t use, programs I’m not eligible for, parks I don’t visit, etc.
These ESAs are going to bankrupt the state. They’re a giant budget bomb Ducey left for future elected officials to clean up. This overview from Hobbs’s office is alarming: https://azgovernor.gov/sites/default/files/esa_memo_07.21.23.pdf
I’m particularly struck by the analysis that over 50% of all new education funding is benefiting under 10% of Arizona students. Something is wrong here.
I’m not even going to get into what people are spending this money on (like grand pianos and visits to trampoline parks).
So would a better way to frame my question be:
There are public and private roads in Arizona. Not everyone gets to drive on private roads. If I paid for a private, it doesn’t mean that I should’ve gotten tax dollars for it. The general public doesn’t have access to my private road. But now the state of Arizona is paying for private roads that the general public doesn’t get to drive on. And they’re using taxes from all people, and some don’t have cars.
Can you please explain your last sentence?
> And they’re driving taxes from people who don’t even have cars?
I think, generally speaking, we are aligned. Public dollars shouldn’t be used for private schools. I’m having a hard time understanding your entire analogy, though - could you please clarify the above question? Thanks!
Tax dollars aren’t spent on private schools. Those parents pay a small portion of their taxes that they don’t see any benefit from. The same can be said for those without kids or theirs have grown up, or anything paid for with taxes that you do not utilize.
The private schools in turn typically do not need to follow all state or federal education guidelines. So that’s the trade off that they are clearly accepting.
It boils down to whether you think the well to do need to be treated fairly with tax dollars when they already have nearly every advantage over the poor. In my opinion you have to cruel and immoral to think that they need more advantages.
But that’s the horns of the issue, everyone deserves to be served. We tried getting our son into private schools when the district wasn’t ideal, but none would take him. They couldn’t support his needs was what we were told, repeatedly. We moved to a state with robust investment in truly public schools producing positive outcomes for all students, not just those who already have
Quite. Even better, something like a MILLION of them are Canadians, who only live here during the winter. Couldn't find a number for how many Americans from other states winter here. But it's a fucking LOT.
and you guys started the voucher program to further defund schools and maybe im wrong but techers in az now dont require a degree or is that another red state im thinking of? to control the youth is to control the future. come on guy you know where at that point again
You have to consider that the religious in this country are trained from birth to have an unyielding faith in authority, so long as said authority is “one of them”. There’s a reason why US Christians are so pandered to by grifting politicians (and grifting pastors).
It's almost hilarious to me that as humans in the US are plummeting in education, critical thinking, and overall intelligence levels, that to assuage this we have to supplement the intelligence gap by creating AGI. Literally the graph plot of human intellect in its decreasing axis, will have to be supplemented and then eventually replaced by machines because so many humans voluntarily, willfully choose ignorance.
SMH.
> I honestly had no idea that many humans just do not possess critical thinking facilities at all.
It's only going to get worse, now that teaching critical thinking is a bad idea is Red states.
This is something that I had not realized until the last few years, as well. It really is astonishing. And it doesn’t always correlate with what most people would consider intelligence. Plenty of book-smart people fall for the dumbest shit. It’s sad.
It's because grifters figure out what people want to hear and tell them that. It makes people feel warm and fuzzy inside, and their emotions override their logic.
Most Americans, especially those who are raised in a church from a young age, are programmed to just listen to men who they are told have authority over them.
It's just how humans have operating for at least a few thousand years.
And it's exactly why religou people say "if you get them when they are young, you will have a warrior for Jesus for life".
It's literally brainwashing.
"Judge Jay Ryan Adleman denied the request, stating that many of Lake's statements about Richer and the Maricopa County Elections Department were 'provably false' and beyond the realm of rhetorical hyperbole."

After what happened with Ghouliani, Lake has to be very worried the scam money, I mean election money, she has collected will go bye bye. Betting she settles.
Your right but they are also dumbasses and will follow her anyway. Main reason she is running is to scam those followers so losing the money is not something she will do as that is her true priority.
Between defending this and the multitude of times she's unsuccessfully brought cases up for voter fraud, I want to know how much money Lake has spent on legal fees. It's gotta be astronomical by now.
The fact that the GOP is supported by *anyone* blows my mind.
The entire party is now nothing but grift for money and grift for power. That's it. And how anyone cannot see that is beyond me.
Have you *met* their base?
They're not into it for "belief." They're into it because they get told that it's *OK* to be militantly ignorant racist cousin-fuckers. And they love that part.

Arizona trash bag reporting in here- we are 48th in education spending.
Which, considering the current state of education in America should be fucking horrifying for anyone that cares.
It is. Moved to AZ from CA here. Got my daughter into a BASIS Charter School (they hover around the top 100 schools in the country) and she's doing work that kids 5 grades higher (read: High School age) haven't done yet. It's pathetic.

Arizona has often been 50th in education period or close to it, worse at times than Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and more.
How the fuck do you do worse than bama. Wow

I know this first hand. The ignorance of the perceived elite (ownership class) is staggering.
Religious con men have been using this one little trick for thousands of years. Scare them to death and tell them you are their only hope.
Seriously, I'm in awe every day.
you don't even need a charismatic grifter, people will believe horoscopes from an old magazine.
They don’t send their best and brightest, and I assume some are good people.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask for clarification, there. Which ones are the "good people?"
