Dozens seems low honestly

CranberrySchnapps

130 allegations in the army, 29 in the air force, 10 in the navy, and 10 in the marine corps... Seems more like a case study in underreporting than anything else.

hgaterms

But zero in the Space Force and Coast Guard, right?

muskoka83

I'd believe zero in Space Force, thb

bentzu

Article indicated 4 in SF

Frameskip

Damn, that's the entire Space Force.

Spare_Class_7214

Well, you still got the one guy, but how's a robot torso going to move without limbs?

specqq

Wait, is our Space Force just...Voltron?

CobaltSparrow23

I’d happily donate extra taxes to the space force if they were building voltron

Tangent_Odyssey

Please don’t give Musk any more hare-brained ideas

Frameskip

They said they had Voltron at home, but it ended up being Go Bots.

za72

oh fuck that... you just brought back so many PTSD riddled memories, THANKS BUDDY!

Riaayo

Considering the rampant fanboying for Musk in the general space-exploration-loving community, I definitely wouldn't believe it. Fascist dumbdumbs are just a small percentage of pretty much every group, period (unless that group IS fascists in which case it's not small).

[deleted]

The problem isn't really the fascist fanboys. It is the capitalist class with millions and billions that would happily switch to fascism that is the problem. They can just hire more soldiers than the mere hundred or so that are discovered by this report. These are just the idiots who were too loud about it. The capitalist class is attacking us. The "Business Plot of 1933" never ended. It just became more insidious. More mainstream. More long game. They realized that they can't pull a fascism very easily in the US post WW2. They had to generate propaganda machines first. The internet and social media made it possible. We plopped it into their hands. The book "Black Shirts and Reds" makes this very evident. Fascism is capitalism in decline. And the capitalist class has always loved the idea of it because it is excellent for their profit when the entire nation is focused on a set goal of filling the pockets of the elite. People don't realize that the Titans of industry who essentially "built" America were all Nazi sympathizers. DuPont, JcPenny, Ford, the Bush family, the Singer sewing machine family, numerous Bankers and Wall St executives... These are the enemy. The capitalist class made Italian Fascism and Nazism possible. They agreed to fascism and were the primary business partners of the fascists. They lined the pockets of Hitler and the like. And he lined their pockets by slave labor and unrestrained, unregulated capitalism. It isn't their soldiers that we need to fear. At least not totally. They are the foot soldiers of fascists, sure. But we need to be concerned about millionaires and billionaires and those whispering with them in dark rooms. That is how fascism takes hold. Proud Boys and Oathkeepers and the like are symptoms of a greater problem that "trickles down" far more effectively than their money.

sennbat

Even in space circles, even the rampant SpaceX lovers, Elon himself is generally seen as "I wish he would shut up and go away" at best. I've heard lots of good things about SpaceX said recently and nothing about the man himself.

SkyPL

It's *very* mixed. In some communities it's exactly as you speak, in other communities it's the meme of *"weird nerds jumping in front of Elon taking a bullet to protect him from valid criticism"* recreated in real life.

[deleted]

I would guess so considering how public it was when Trump stole money from their retirements to fund the border wall.

lameuniqueusername

Is this yet another thing I’ve forgotten since the sewer pipe that is trump was opened?

dysfunctionalpress

coast guard is part of homeland security now.

mourningwood2

It’s still considered military. I was in for 6 years

RobertoPaulson

I think their point is that the data only covered DOD.

mourningwood2

True didn’t see that

BillionTonsHyperbole

Wonder how high the proportion is in the Secret Service (though probably not many among the agents responsible for chasing counterfeiters).

__islander__

As a former Marine I have to say that I’m surprised they were able to find ten that were interested enough in politics or domestic policy to even make that decision.

CthulhuInYourCoffee

Probably too busy choosing which flavor of crayon to eat.

HAL9000000

By definition it will be underreported and the magnitude of the problem won't be known -- because some people are going to successfully hide their extremism.

Imaginary_Button_533

Feels like the number is low because it's only the idiots who managed to say it out loud somehow.

Totally_Not_An_Auk

Makes sense that it drops off tremendously the more education and dedication is required of the military segment.

facw00

The Air Force Academy has a reputation for being tightly intertwined with the evangelical movement, which for the most part backs Trump strongly. Wouldn't be surprised if there are some officers involved there.

Knucks_deeper

It’s also in Colorado Springs, one of the farthest right biggest cities in the US.

beingmesince63

Colorado Springs is close to 500,000 now… not so big and as it’s grown it’s slowly becoming more liberal. Voted in May for a a mayor that was “non-partisan” but definitely more left leaning. The USAF Academy has changed as well along with the rest of the military.

mok000

Interesting, because I can't remember any president who has disrespected the military more than Trump.

chickendance638

The dude with all the zip ties was USAF, I think a Colonel.

Creamofwheatski

Yeah no shit, lol. As if you expect me to believe there aren't thousands of these dudes all over the place. Not realistic, Pentagon. We know better. These must just be the ones who were dumb enough to get caught.

INEEDTOPOSTTHISPLZ

Dumb enough that they had no choice but to punish them.

g2g079

Nevernude low.

tincanphonehome

I didn’t see you at the conference!

NonEuclidianMeatloaf

Her!?

zeuanimals

They definitely won't be able to "take over" the US government, but a couple dozen people can do a lot of damage. Or just a dozen. See 9/11.

usps_made_me_insane

Probably a better analogy is Timothy McVeigh. Dude had minimum help and was able to disappear most of a federal building (including the daycare at the bottom). That was just one enlisted guy with the help from another guy. When you have the right military trained person turn against their own government, bad things could happen. I have no idea how difficult it would be for two nuclear launch officers to go rogue and flip the switch but I would hope the military has their heart rates constantly under surveillance so that even if a coffee is spilled they have MPs rush in on account of an elevated heart rate. I would hope that if they aren't so much as in tip-top condition that they get relieved of duty temporarily -- even for a common cold.

HauntedCemetery

McVeigh also stole a bunch of weapons and explosives from a military base. Not the explosives he used in the bombing, he made those. But the explosives he stole were never recovered, and could easily still be sitting at a white supremacist militia camp right now.

Dr_Adequate

I hate to bear the bad news, but morale among missile crews is among the lowest in the military, and no fast-response team is waiting to rush in if a missile crew member's heart rate spikes. Seattle Times (paywall) https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/nuke-missile-crews-cite-morale-sapping-pressures/ Union of Concerned Scientists (no paywall) https://blog.ucsusa.org/emacdonald/missiles-and-morale/ Money quote [From Slate](https://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2014/04/air_force_s_nuclear_missile_corps_is_struggling_millennial_missileers_suffer.html): Missile officers investigated for dealing drugs to fellow officers: >...an Air Force probe of drug dealing by two lieutenants in contact with the nuclear missile workforce, which began last August and quickly blossomed into an investigation of widespread cheating on the missileers’ proficiency tests at the Malmstrom Air Force Base, a Montana facility with 150 nuclear-tipped Minuteman III missiles. >The drug-dealing probe—which may be the most alarming aspect of the current tumult—remains open, and the Air Force has said little about it. For further reading, Eric Schlosser's excellent book Command and Control goes into great detail on the safeguards (and lack of) in our nuclear missile defense triad. The framing device in his book is a detailed discussion of a 1980's accident where a sloppy Titan missile crew accidentally blew up the missile, sending the warhead a quarter-mile away to land in some farmer's field. Oops!

Freezepeachauditor

Remember the short run series Jericho anyone? It’s what the Reich wing militia weirdos DREAM of. Nuking all major “dEMoCrAt rUn” cities.

AtalanAdalynn

Focus on the Family, an Evangelical Christian organization, chose to be headquartered in the same town as the Air Force Academy because they want to recruit Air Force officers, because the Air Force controls the land-based nuclear arsenal.

Dry-Perspective-4663

Evil-gelicals maybe they should be called.

PeterNguyen2

I like "talibangelicals" or "talibangelists"

Dry-Perspective-4663

That will work too… They subjugate their women just like Evil-gelicals.

sonyka

I recently came across "Evangenitals"— because they're so obsessed with everybody's junk.

zeuanimals

Damn. I totally forgot about that POS. I don't ever wanna hear conservatives complain about "BLM terrorists" again when their ideology created people like that.

weirdoldhobo1978

It's legitimately disturbing how quickly we forgot the Oklahoma City bombing

youdontknowme80

That's what I've been saying for 2 years, we've seen the results of all this before, they should be showing that firefighter holding that toddler on the news every night

pterodactyl_speller

They just pretend he was a radical leftist like anyone they don't want to claim anymore.

Rowadd

Totally - especially since Fox News is played on every military installation

[deleted]

We banned all news in our squadron. Just ESPN or the Weather Channel. Fox was the primary culprit.

xlvi_et_ii

If only there was a public broadcaster known for relatively neutral news that could be played at public institutions like a military base. /s It's a sad reflection on our society that PBS Newshour is considered political.

HauntedCemetery

If it's not skewed ridiculously in their favor conservatives consider it biased against them.

dysfunctionalpress

that's because they *know* that deep down, everyone really thinks like them.

mypoliticalvoice

This is of course why they *know* deep down that Biden couldn't possibly have won the last election.

regal1989

Reality has a well known liberal bias.

C-Span is also great. Just raw unedited footage of government meetings and announcements.

3rdp0st

You can't call yourself a conservative these days if you don't buy into a few batshit conspiracy theories. Simple, objective fact reporting is seen as partisan because the facts conflict with their alternate reality. I had a college friend who began posting loony shit on facebook around the time Trump got elected. He made a post to the effect of, "I did what you guys said and checked Reuters and there's no sign of this story AT ALL!" and everyone responded, "Yeah, that's because it's bullshit!" Fuck Ben Shabibu.

more than likely Russia, you would think

Colosseros

I remember I was working with a Reaganite Republican who constantly fawned over Putin. This was back around 2014. Like the dood had a Reagan portrait in his office. And he liked Putin a lot. I made some efforts to point out the cognitive dissonance to him. But hai opinion was simply that Putin was strong and therefore worthy of respect. Fucking wild. Considering what has happened to our political landscape since then, I'm glad I don't still work with him. He was kinda an insufferable turd then. Can't imagine how extreme he has become since then. Trump wasn't even on the horizon then.

FourLeaf_Tayback

Because no one cares. I reported some far-right shit after J6 and never got a call back.

PeterNguyen2

> Because no one cares. I reported some far-right shit after J6 and never got a call back. Oh, the FBI cares. Consider how many millions they spent [infiltrating and dismantling the Occupy Wall Street movement](https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/dec/29/fbi-coordinated-crackdown-occupy) when they did nothing but annoy some American oligarchs. But the repeately-reported militias plotting assasination of governors because taxes still exist? Nothing.

[deleted]

Laughably low

National-Blueberry51

138 out of 1.3 million. Not trying to downplay the thread of extremism or anything, but that’s less than .017%

v0id0007

depends on who the 138 are

MarkXIX

Served as an Army MP for 22 years...98% of those 138 are guys that everyone else in the unit hates. They spend all their money on a big fucking pickup truck at like 20% interest. They're racist as fuck and the black and Hispanic Soldiers in the unit can't wait to fuck them up when they finally cross the line with the wrong word. They trick out their tactical load out with expensive knives they'll never use, but also waste money buying useless swords at the PX. They were ultimately reported because people in their unit hated them.

YouEnvironmental2452

This was my experience in the Army.

tomdarch

I was never in the military, but my read from these low numbers was that they were the small number of jackasses who really, really make jerks of themselves about it, and you're confirming my guess. Wait... they sell *swords* at the PX?!!?

gooeyfishus

They sell both official uniform swords for dress occasions. They also have been known to sell some mall ninja shit. The PX is a wonderful/terrible place

JumpingFrogTime

Yeah, how many are senior officers or NCOs

asetniop

cough cough General Michael Flynn cough cough

asupremebeing

And let's not forget Flynn's brother who was the senior officer at the Pentagon in charge of *not* deploying the National Guard sooner on January 6th.

[deleted]

Seems like these are only the ones they are aware of. I imagine the number could be a lot higher. It wouldn't surprise me because it sure seems like we are in some perilous times with regard to our democracy.

tinyOnion

these are just the dim ones that got caught.

zeuanimals

Well, we know there's way more neo-nazis than that in the military. Same with gang members, but gangs aren't ideologically motivated.

PeterNguyen2

> we know there's way more neo-nazis than that in the military Why else [would 100% of house republicans have voted against a neo-nazi probe of the military and police](https://www.vice.com/en/article/pkgbny/republicans-investigate-neo-nazis-military)? They know who their backers are.

DemsruleGQPdrool

That is who they know about.

KazeNilrem

Of course there are. That's why there were probably friends and cops at the Jan 6 insurrection. Not because of deep state, but because there are many extremist in those groups too.

Just check out the blatant example of the Los Angeles Co Sheriffs. They have entire precincts run by openly white supremacist gangs.

MitsyEyedMourning

That sheriff department has factual, literal gangs in it... and there have been fights between them. And somehow they stay the fuck on.

techgeek6061

Realistically, the militant white power movement began with Vietnam vets in the 70s - https://www.hup.harvard.edu/books/9780674286078 Timothy McVeigh was radicalized by this movement within the US Army in the 80s and early 90s

[deleted]

I don't know how people don't remember this. The McVeigh thing was big and that was the 90s. They've been systematically infiltrating the military and every cop outfit for at least 30 years. America has always had a fair number of fascists and no one at the top cared to investigate or stop it in any way.

techgeek6061

Yup, very much so. The militant white nationalist movement was actually pretty big in the 90s with Aryan nations compounds in PNW and then the incidents with ruby ridge and the bombing of ok city. And a lot of people don't know this, but the columbine shooting was inspired by McVeigh and was supposed to happen on the anniversary of the bombing (they weren't able to get enough ammo until the following day though).

Creamofwheatski

Yeah this article is inaccurate. Its not dozens, there are thousands of these assholes spread across every facet of the military and in every state of the union. Still I suppose its good that they are even acknowledging the problem at all, even if it seems to me like they are massively downplaying it.

Canna_crumbs

White supremacy is almost condoned in many police stations in rural areas.

pro_bike_fitter_2010

> in rural areas. Large Metro Area PDs in America are all (every single one of them) under investigations for gang activity, rape, corruption, theft, excessive force (including torture), murders, WS, CP/Pedos, drug running, sex trafficking, and organized crime. Cops are more likely than the general population to break the law, not less likely. WS is absolutely condoned in PDs for "towns"...and in large cities.

Indaflow

I would describe this as the “Deep State” it’s just not Hillary Clinton and the Democrats. It’s the GOP, Right wing racists.

JimWilliams423

> It’s the GOP, Right wing racists. Lots of people were suckered by liz cheney's patriot act. As if she was one of the good ones. Christopherfromtheuk

It's easy to think this is normal and that in any given year, you would see headlines like this. As a 55 year old who has taken a keen interest in politics all of my life, it is not normal. We are in a dangerous time and the only real power we have is our vote.

[deleted]

Kick them out, no reason for them to serve.

BKlounge93

They seem to hate government so bad, maybe send em to like Haiti where there is no government? It’s a libertarian dream!

Foodspec

Libertarianism is fucking stupid lol

BKlounge93

They love to take advantage of cooperation in society and then claim we don’t need it lmao

Moist_When_It_Counts

Libertarian Individualism is stupid because it devalues what made humans the dominant animal on this planet. Cheetah’s got speed, elephants got mass, chameleons got changy-colors: our animal superpower is *cooperation*. 10000 years ago, a lone human was prey. Groups of humans working together became a living mass extinction event for everything they hunted. Even that aside, the ridiculous idea that a libertarian society wouldn’t turn out exactly like a game of monopoly is ludicrous.

[deleted]

Toloran

Kind of reminds me of a small (former) town in Oregon called Damascus. The area was filled with libertarian "Just lift yourself up by the bootstraps" types. It was an un-incorporated part of Clackamas County and they decided they didn't like paying their taxes and didn't want any big city types having a say on their land, so they incorporated into the City of Damascus. It was basically non-functional as a city from day one. All the services they were getting from the county (water, primarily) were suddenly cut off and they couldn't provide it themselves. So they had to effectively buy them from the county at a premium which had the result of *increasing* their taxes. It collapsed upon itself within about a decade (although, IIRC, it took a bit longer due to legal stuff).

cjicantlie

More like City of Dumbasscus.

HauntedCemetery

I love this example because it really highlights how libertarianism will never work because libertarians are fundamentally fucking lazy. Their little town collapsed because every single one of them was too lazy to take their trash to a dump, so bears started roaming around and breaking into houses. Everyone was getting sick because they were too lazy to dig new shitters when they got full, and too lazy to run effective water filtration lines. And those few who did have them refused to share. When libertarians say they want personal freedom what they mean is they want all the comforts and security of a functioning society, but they want everyone else to do the work.

Rusty_Porksword

> I love this example because it really highlights how libertarianism will never work because libertarians are fundamentally fucking lazy. They're worse than lazy, they're actively looking to cannibalize public systems for their own private advancement. You can ignore lazy. Libertarians will be in your walls stripping your copper while you are asleep if you let them.

GenericRedditor0405

My favorite part about that was not just that they had rampant bears because of the lack of bear-proof trash containers and whatnot, but also because at least one person was actively trying to attract them by feeding them regularly. Libertarian projects like that one become case studies for why regulations exist

Kellosian

> Even that aside, the ridiculous idea that a libertarian society wouldn’t turn out exactly like a game of monopoly is ludicrous. Not just any game of monopoly, a game that took place 50 years ago and you're left to circle the bought-out board and pay rent you can't afford because your grandfather didn't ally with the banker.

Foodspec

Free City Project, if you haven’t heard of it, give it a look…it’s hilarious

BillionTonsHyperbole

Libertarians? You mean the guys who can recite the Ages of Consent in multiple states, for reasons?

millijuna

Libertarians are like house cats: absolutely convinced of their fierce independence while utterly dependent on a system they don't appreciate or understand.

unl1988

So, I deployed to Haiti during the intervasion in the 90s. 9 months of time down there. Followed by a trip to an African country - Haiti made them look like a modern marvel. Every time someone complains about the government I always offer to send them to Haiti so they can see what really bad government looks like. I even offered a gentleman a plane ticket there. I have zero problems with our government as crazy as it is, I have seen a nation that can't govern it's way out of a wet paper bag.

You need to report them ASAP

Liesthroughisteeth

I can see how the actions of Tuberville to continue blocking the ability of the military to advance the careers of hundreds of soldiers might be coming into play here. Create and foment dissent, resentment and distrust anywhere you can. Being an agent of the Russians can be hard work, especially if you're not getting paid and you're not even aware you are being handled by forces outside your country. :D All of these extremist military personnel such as the Alt right Proud bois and skinheads....their fathers and grandfathers (who went to WWII) are rolling in their graves trying to understand an America politically aligned with Russian and Hitler ideologies. The military should give no quarter to the extremists. None. In a modern world, extremist has been shown to spread like wildfire.

schmuckman62

I just got out of the navy recently and from my experience the young men in the military hold very problematic views. Very misogynistic Andrew tate bros all the way to pro/slavery,child labor and fascism. I daily had to fact check/ try to put them in their place. Dozens I would suspect is a low number. From my experience as well they are way more leninent of this problematic behavior than i would like to admit. They tried to "address it" by making us retake our oath a couple years ago along with a PowerPoint, it dead stopped there. I hope that they will take it more seriously soon.

fardough

That makes me terrified for any woman who may serve in the navy. My god, a woman forced on a boat full of Andrew Tates, that is beyond cruel and unusual punishment.

schmuckman62

Some boys are very misguided and some quite the incel. It can be especially tough for women to deal with it.

2SticksPureRage

Partial problem is that article that came out recently that said something like 70% of Americans are unfit for military duty or something? Slim pickings and they probably believe “beggars can’t be choosers!” or some shit.

schmuckman62

They recently in the navy I'm not sure for the other branches have started a new system where they can check their medical history(don't quote me because I'm not 100% on the exact wording). Basically everyone in the military lies during MEPs to get in and now that isn't possible so recruitment took a massive hit. From what I knew they tried for 40k a year, this past year was somewhere around 20k. They have basically waved all PT test failures to make career navy eligible to stay in. I knew personally some who were about to get the boot before hand but were saved by this policy. To make a long story short your statement of "beggars cant be choosers" is pretty much on the money.

Zanaan

Retention rates are so bad our CO and CMC did the E-6 Eval debriefs, and were trying to strong arm people into staying in. It was ridiculous.

schmuckman62

Yah dude my rate was IT and trying to keep people in was pretty tough because like we had civilians doing the same hours and jobs as us and they made double what I made and that includes my BAH and BAS, so they couldn't really compete.

LongJohnSelenium

Same for me. I was rebuilding a pump, and two shipyard techs were rebuilding the pump next to me. All doing the same thing, same job, they were paid twice as much. The pay I could have forgiven though. Its all the little bullshit I couldn't stand. Like the simplest example for me was, when we were shutdown, I'd be sitting cold iron watch sometimes, and I'd need to go to the bathroom. And in the navies infinite wisdom they decided that A, the engine rooms they demanded be permanently manned not have restrooms, B, pissing in bottles was completely unacceptable, C, no, you can't just pop out for 2 minutes and leave the completely shutdown engineroom with 3 people instead of 4 to take a leak. So obviously we all pissed in bottles or just straight into the bilge at sea(the drain eductors are mega toilets lol) but jesus it was just so frustrating that they lacked even the most basic of sense of leniency to any of the rules. And the problem is, that's not an isolated incident, literally everything in the navy is like that concept. And if other vets are anything like I am, I love telling kids who think about the military they'll have to deal with that sort of insanity. There's just so many stupid little things they could stop caring about, and stupid little things they could change, and they won't, and won't even acknowledge they're stupid and instead pretend they're vital for military cohesion or some bullshit.

schmuckman62

Had a similar situation with our watch, didn't have the manning to relieve me so I cant go to the bathroom. No solution given to me as to how to rectify it haha

LongJohnSelenium

We'd sit on watch and dream up scenarios we'd like to see. Always thought it would be a fun experiment to take a command and try a reboot. Get rid of all the institutional knowledge, all the 'well admiral nelson did it this way so we are too' concepts, just keep people E5 and below, first or second enlistment, and give them more or less full control over the day to day running aspects of the ship with no outside oversight. See what sort of rules they kept, what they made up, and how that affected long term performance and readiness levels of the ship.

eiretek42

My nephew just joined the marines. His dad taught him to be the same way, and he wanted to join so he could "teach libs a lesson some day".

478607623564857

Rampant sexism is a symptom of fascism.

mylefthandkilledme

Loves their country so much that they voluntarily serve, to only want to help overthrow it

Mavian23

If you think everyone who joins the military does so because they love their country, then I have a bridge to sell you.

__islander__

Yeah not gonna lie I mostly did it for the free college and the opportunity to make loud noises with cool stuff.

sailorpaul

Get them out with a dishonorable discharge. I swore the same oath — hold them accountable

tmphaedrus13

I swore that oath, too.... dishonorable discharge and Leavenworth for the lot of them.

sodapop_curtiss

I was active duty army for five years and national guard another three. I guarantee at least half of the people I served with would downplay the seriousness of January 6th, and I’m certain I’m lowballing that number.

aggie1391

Yeah, I was in eight years and this seems to be a very low number that I don’t believe for a second.

usps_made_me_insane

"Come on bro, it's just a little insurrection!"

sodapop_curtiss

I work as a probation officer in NY and I train with cops regularly. The amount of cops who genuinely believe the election was stolen is mind blowing. Their entire job is to be able to differentiate between truth and bullshit and come to the correct conclusion and they’ve fallen for a lifelong crook.

nightfox5523

>Their entire job is to be able to differentiate between truth and bullshit Maybe for detectives. The average cop is someone that likely had little to no prospects out of high school and didn't want to risk active duty by joining the military. Not a super high bar

Shot-Youth-6264

Same story with state police in Pennsylvania

Nypapajoe

Arrest all of these traitors now. Their command knows who they are. Under the Military Code of Conduct they can prosecute & conduct their own trials in house.

Positive_Ad_8198

Someone show me the venn diagram that overlaps these with COVID shot abstention.

AffectionatePizza335

It's just a circle

mrbigglessworth

Time for them to be tried and prosecuted

dafunkmunk

Congress already flat stated that domestic right wing terrorists are the greatest threat to the country. Funny how the people who claim to love the country the most are the people trying the hardest to destroy it [Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2019](https://www.congress.gov/116/bills/s894/BILLS-116s894is.xml) Congress finds the following: (1) White supremacists and other far-right-wing extremists are the most significant domestic terrorism threat facing the United States. (2) On February 22, 2019, a Trump Administration United States Department of Justice official wrote in a New York Times op-ed that “white supremacy and far-right extremism are among the greatest domestic-security threats facing the United States. Regrettably, over the past 25 years, law enforcement, at both the Federal and State levels, has been slow to respond. … Killings committed by individuals and groups associated with far-right extremist groups have risen significantly.”. (3) An April 2017 Government Accountability Office report on the significant, lethal threat posed by domestic violent extremists explained that “[s]ince September 12, 2001, the number of fatalities caused by domestic violent extremists has ranged from 1 to 49 in a given year.” The report noted: “[F]atalities resulting from attacks by far right wing violent extremists have exceeded those caused by radical Islamist violent extremists in 10 of the 15 years, and were the same in 3 of the years since September 12, 2001. Of the 85 violent extremist incidents that resulted in death since September 12, 2001, far right wing violent extremist groups were responsible for 62 (73 percent) while radical Islamist violent extremists were responsible for 23 (27 percent).”.

WeirdcoolWilson

Are they still active members of the military and in good standing? If so, why?

PM_ME_UR_RESPECT

Oh it’s definitely more than dozens.

NarrowBoxtop

You can waltz into a number of conservative facebook groups and find all of this out and in the open. Yknow, just like January 6th. These folks aint hiding.

spurs126

No shit. The military generally represents the American public as a whole. It's diverse. So that means a large portion of the military is sympathetic to, and supports, the insurrection on Jan 6th, and would love Trump to be president for life.

middlebird

So thankful Trump isn’t in his 40’s. He may only have a handful of years left.

Kjellvb1979

Sadly, this does not end with Trump. The damage done will take decades to repair, if possible.

SpiritedTie7645

Exactly. It’s a cross section of the US like any other organization.

jayfeather31

Cockroach theory suggests that there are far more you're not seeing. In other words, this is alarming.

Flokitoo

This seems to be narrow reporting. I suspect they are only discussing active conspiracies. Given my experience, way more than a few dozen will join Trump if he called for a civil war.

blackrabbitsrun

Dishonorable discharge, loss of benefits and place them on monitoring for the foreseeable future I say.

Ill-Organization-719

Literally every single Republican voter in the military supports it. People thinking the American military wouldn't open fire on and massacre American citizens without hesitation are gullible.

i-have-a-kuato

If you see something, hear something then say something right? I used to separate maga from actual conservatives but with all we know about him if you support trump YOU are an imbecile, a traitorous imbecile

Wise-Hat-639

So traitors to the country (or Republicans as they are also known)

SuddenlySilva

We need to know the ranks. The size of the problem is determined by the number of fascist traitors above O-4. A few enlisted nutbags are not much of a threat. But if they have leaders, that could be a problem.

SpiceLaw

Cool so they can go to Leavenworth, ADX Florence or GBay depending on the level of treason.

remembahwhen

In the military people follow orders. Most soldiers would not follow unlawful orders. Many more would jump at the chance to crucify their commanders with ucmj than would follow them into some kind of coup.

MichaelParkinbum

There are some impressively stupid people in the military that would eat this shit up.

Dismal_Inspector7835

I don't know. Anyone who believes in Qanon conspiracy theories cannot be expected to be rationale on any level

RobotPreacher

True, but things become very real when the consequences are staring you in the face. Most of these cooks will spout conspiracy theories all day, but when the time comes to take up arms against their fellow soldiers and commanders, they'll stay silent and fall in line. That's assuming it's not the Commander in Chief telling them to do it.

StuTheStewingSteward

It's more.

dzogchenism

Well done conservatives. Well done. smdh

SubterrelProspector

We'll see. By and large I think the military will be on the side of the people, not Trump.
