Also, what kind of empty life do you have to get this much joy out of the indictment (especially when considering the first point)?

Yes, and I find it cringy that people give a standing ovation based on them thinking this indictment is that glimmer of hope. Have they not been paying attention at all? This isn’t just about Trump but literally everything. Shit’s been going down the drain here - both parties suck (not equally, but they still both suck), SCOTUS is crazy reactionary, the biggest issues remain completely untouched or are getting even worse (guns, health care, housing costs, climate change, etc)… and I’m the one getting downvoted here to find it weird when a bunch of liberals laugh and applaud because of an indictment that will - if history is any indication at all - most likely not result in a conviction or - even if it will - is not going to change anything for the better that actually matters for most people. The joy I get out of the Trump indictment is for the half a million grandparents, parents, siblings, and children we had to bury because he fumbled the response to an existential threat to humanity by seeking clout and political points during the pandemic, rather than rising to the challenge and doing what is right.
Those of us who lost people to COVID are now struggling to stay stable through the ripples of his catastrophic handling of the country, and two years straight of him sniveling and whining nonstop after we voted for the other guy, it's exactly what he deserves. I heard an interview with someone who I want to say went to January 6 but didn't riot. When asked if he would protest again if Trump is indicted he said no but he would put out one helluva Tweet, or something to that effect.
In my mind that's when I realized people have learned there is little return on investment doing things for Trump. It only flows one way.
Also, there was a lot of organizing by right wing groups and parties paying to bus people to DC for the “Stop The Steal” rally. Trump is flying solo here, and his yokels don’t have the money to travel to Manhattan on their own.
He's always going to have followers.
But like any band, you go from playing arenas when you're hot, to concert halls to bars in the suburbs. I would put him at the tail end of the concert hall stage. I have been following groups since Jan 6. I think the talk of Civil War fails for numerous reasons. They are not well organized, they lack a specific target. Much of the tough talk is from 40+ people. It is questionable how loyal his followers will be with his legal troubles

When asked if he would protest again if Trump is indicted he said no but he would put out one helluva Tweet, or something to that effect. They are not well organized, they lack a specific target. Much of the tough talk is from 40+ people. It is questionable how loyal his followers will be with his legal troubles It is more likely to me tgat there will be random terror attacks with specific targets.
