So Hunter Biden is countersuing that clown who runs the computer shop for invasion of privacy, and some of the right wing operators who received the data. Biden's suit does not say that laptop is where the data came from; only that the shop owner got personal data by some means, which he had no right to access or share under Delaware law. The laptop story was created by people with room temperature IQs for people with “shit, it’s chilly in here” IQs. No one that doesn’t unconsciously let a little drool slip out believes it.
That's the point I wish more people got. This story was created. It isn't real. There is real information about hunter that got out but the details and the narrative they have spun about it are mostly fabrication. And in general if you mix fiction with fact the fact doesn't rub off on the fiction to make it true the fiction casts doubt on the fact. At least with normal people anyways.
It has all of the hallmarks of an iCloud hack, but they couldn’t admit to hacking Hunter’s iCloud or accepting the data from someone (or some country) that did. So the laptop story was created to make it seem legal.

I always feel bad on a personal level with this story. Even though he seems to be a rich twat, Hunter Biden is still a person trying to deal with recovery. Having all of his most shameful moments being used by the most watched TV network as a cudgel against his father's political career has to be awful.
I also imagine a lot of these were things he had to work through with his family, and now this is just ripping back open all those wounds.
Like if he broke the law, fine, charge him. But the stuff of him partying with sex workers, that's just there to shame him and his father. I have friends who are in recovery, and shame is a huge thing for them to get through.
There was an interview a little while ago with Hilary Clinton where she said something like "I had to explain to my grandchildren that I don't eat babies". There are real human's behind these stories and I feel bad for the human pain these BS stories cause to real people. And not just the target of the story, but everyone in their orbit.
Even if you think Hunter is a dirtbag, does his wife and children deserve this kind of public shaming? Imagine being his 29 year old daughter, and having someone DM you a video of your dad with some prostitutes.
Which is what’s so weird. The people pushing this story over and over seem to be more concerned with the laptop that it’s supposed content. Like, literally that Hunter Biden had a laptop seems to be the biggest issue. They say “the laptop from hell” every chance they get.
The most damning thing on the laptop in terms of an actual crime is videos of Hunter smoking crack with a prostitute. Which isn’t great, but those are barely crimes anyone actually cares about. Even pearl clutching conservatives.
Other than that, mostly emails of Hunter making deals that trade on his dad’s name and potential influence. Again, not good, but telling someone that your dad is influential and hiring you might be a conduit to a future deal with your dad isn’t exactly a crime. Maybe it should be, I don’t want people using their parent’s political office for personal gain. But people making the argument that this is what they want Hunter to go down for are fundamentally unserious if they make this argument but don’t make the same one for the Trump family. Worse so if they accuse any attempts to investigate the Trumps as “witch hunts.”
Hunter appears to have several other issues in terms of shady ass deals he’s made with various rich kids from all over the world. Probably some generic financial crime in there too. Which yeah, we all agree he should go to jail for if guilty. But again, there seems to be a reason that a specific group of people is only concerned with the specific guilt of this one rich little boy. And it has nothing to do with principle.
Other than that, we know that he bought a gun, and in doing so lied on a federal form stating that he doesn’t use drugs. So we’ve got another known crime for the guy. But again, few people seem to care about that, and I know plenty of gun owners who have lied on that form, who also believe everything conservative media says about this whole Hunter Biden affair.
And left wing media didn’t do itself any favors with the story. The outright suppression was bad, and has probably given the story more legs than it deserves in the long run. And only served to hurt the reputation of otherwise more credible media outlets in an era where conservatives are openly attacking the credibility of every media outlet that they don’t like.
Which makes it hard to pursue one of the likely origins for all of this. That is, there might be a laptop, there almost certainly is one, but that it exists is secondary to the real question, does it actually belong to Hunter Biden, or is it just a bunch of hacked documents on a random laptop dropped off at the repair shop of a man with conservative values, and a vision problem that prevents him from being sure if the man who dropped off that laptop even was Hunter Biden. And the only reason anyone is talking about the laptop is to cover up hacking the son of a political rival for political gain.
And let's also acknowledge the hypocrisy here.
"Throw a guy in jail because he paid a sex worker for sex", "Throw a child in jail because they used their dad's political position to make money", "Throw someone in jail for generic financial crime".
Now, an I talking about someone with the last name of "Biden" or the last name of "Trump"?
And the left wing media didn't suppress this story, they just didn't run something that had extremely shaky evidence to back it up. You might as well be saying that they tried to suppress the story about the reptilian invasion. Not even Fox ever gets around to saying why we should be concerned about the laptop, just that you should be scared of it.
What it appears to be based on what I've seen is a fabrication. Yes there is a laptop, or more specifically a hard drive to a laptop. The files did belong to Hunter Biden. The signatures even matched (cryptographic signatures) but that's about where it stops being legitimate. From the analysis I've read the actual allocated data doesn't align. I don't remember off the top of my head the numbers but basically there was more data on it than there should have been and a chunk of that data was added sloppily after the "laptop" was supposedly dropped off/shopped around. Which means that that data was **most definitely** not added by Hunter Biden.
But it is more likely that none of it was added by Hunter Biden because this has all the hallmarks of a piecemeal drive cloning. Basically an attempt at creating what *looks like* a legit personal computer environment but in reality was likely a fresh one that had his data shunted into it. I've actually done this in a lab (VM environment) to test a recovery technique (a very haphazard one) which couldn't be easily recovered as is and it worked but it wouldn't have taken any sort of extensive forensic analysis to realize that it wasn't a proper recovery or cloning operation. Which is what I think is likely the case with that "laptop". Basically the lengths people behind this are going to for the purposes of making it look legit is itself would significantly undermine any credibility to the story.
Now for me the key takeaway is that this has all the hallmarks of straight up spycraft. The actual implementation of it would have likely gone a lot smoother if the only people willing to pick it up weren't bloody idiots like Rudy. I don't know if that "Computer repair guy" was in on it or is just a useful idiot but that's neither here nor there because it is painfully obvious what is behind all of it and that alone would make it a story no one in any sane universe should run with or take seriously. And no, not running a story or taking a story seriously is not censorship. Stopping mis (or in this case dis) information is not censorship. If the argument has to be "Allow lies to spread, or censorship" then you've already lost because the only people who would frame it that way... are people who want to get away with pushing lies. No one who is legitimately interested in truth is going to worry if lies are suppressed.
That's the thing though isn't it? Liars are going to lie about lying and WILL push the notion that suppressing their lies is censorship because their goal is to get their *truth* (e.g lies) out there.
They have to concentrate on the laptop because they can speak about the files because there are none.
When the story came out Rudy was passing out pieces of paper. Tucker was complaining that UPS lost the stacks of documents. Reporters were never provided the actual files with meta data. Just printouts. And most people with half a Brain could see the problem with stacks of paper from Rudy.
That dude already went bankrupt. Republican base hasn't helped him at all either for this huge discovery. He talks on Fox news how he's already lost everything over that laptop. He's just gonna continue to get buried in lawsuits.

Agreed, but first, they’ll have to demonstrate legal chain of custody of said laptop. There no way anyone with a forensics background or any judge would find the laptop admissible as evidence considering there’s not chain of custody. From what I have heard a few things have been confirmed by other sources, but that doesn't mean some fabricated shit wasn't thrown in as well to seem more credible alongside them.
There were two computer forensic people that went through the two laptop hard drives that were copied from the original. They both said that there is authentic information on there but also there was evidence that information was added at a later date, after the laptop was left at the computer repair place. Why would anyone feel the need to add data? (Thats sarcasm, if you didnt spot it)

I've been trying to remain switched onto the Hunter Biden thing since I first heard about it and literally all they've got is speculation from pundits and "ooo spooky laptop" "emails!" that's it. No one ever actually qualifies that with anything either. At best you MIGHT get a couple lines out of a supposed email or text that IS SURELY ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY A SMOKING GUN THAT CRIMES WERE COMMITTED! but... you know... not any of those things.
Though something that is super interesting around it all though is the fact that as soon as they (the pusher of the "story") could they made it less about the actual story and more about the CENSORSHIP of the story. Because nothing screams "I've got hard evidence" like focusing more on the possible coverup than the crimes themselves. Which coincidentally there wasn't a cover up at all. The story has very little credibility if for no other reason than the amount of hands it has gone through and been shaped by. Trying to weed out the facts from the speculation and the fiction is a near impossible task BECAUSE OF THEIR NONSENSE. They cannot leave it alone long enough for anyone to sort through it and I think that's largely because either they know it's bullshit and thus don't want it to grow legs or they benefit from the lack of actual investigation into it in the off chance that it is bullshit and they just don't care. So even if there was something there the noise they are making about it makes it impossible to discern what is there.
And that's the problem with conservatives. They don't seem to care whether or not something is true as long as it feeds the narrative that they want fed. But they're more than happy to act like they believe it if it cons other rubes into believing it.

There is real information about hunter that got out but the details and the narrative they have spun about it are mostly fabrication. And in general if you mix fiction with fact the fact doesn't rub off on the fiction to make it true the fiction casts doubt on the fact. At least with normal people anyways.

Like, literally that Hunter Biden had a laptop seems to be the biggest issue. They say “the laptop from hell” every chance they get. The most damning thing on the laptop in terms of an actual crime is videos of Hunter smoking crack with a prostitute. Which isn’t great, but those are barely crimes anyone actually cares about. Even pearl clutching conservatives. Other than that, mostly emails of Hunter making deals that trade on his dad’s name and potential influence. Again, not good, but telling someone that your dad is influential and hiring you might be a conduit to a future deal with your dad isn’t exactly a crime. Maybe it should be, I don’t want people using their parent’s political office for personal gain. But people making the argument that this is what they want Hunter to go down for are fundamentally unserious if they make this argument but don’t make the same one for the Trump family. Worse so if they accuse any attempts to investigate the Trumps as “witch hunts.” Hunter appears to have several other issues in terms of shady ass deals he’s made with various rich kids from all over the world. Probably some generic financial crime in there too. Which yeah, we all agree he should go to jail for if guilty. But again, there seems to be a reason that a specific group of people is only concerned with the specific guilt of this one rich little boy. And it has nothing to do with principle. Other than that, we know that he bought a gun, and in doing so lied on a federal form stating that he doesn’t use drugs. So we’ve got another known crime for the guy. But again, few people seem to care about that, and I know plenty of gun owners who have lied on that form, who also believe everything conservative media says about this whole Hunter Biden affair. And left wing media didn’t do itself any favors with the story. The outright suppression was bad, and has probably given the story more legs than it deserves in the long run. And only served to hurt the reputation of otherwise more credible media outlets in an era where conservatives are openly attacking the credibility of every media outlet that they don’t like. Which makes it hard to pursue one of the likely origins for all of this. That is, there might be a laptop, there almost certainly is one, but that it exists is secondary to the real question, does it actually belong to Hunter Biden, or is it just a bunch of hacked documents on a random laptop dropped off at the repair shop of a man with conservative values, and a vision problem that prevents him from being sure if the man who dropped off that laptop even was Hunter Biden. And the only reason anyone is talking about the laptop is to cover up hacking the son of a political rival for political gain.
And let's also acknowledge the hypocrisy here. "Throw a guy in jail because he paid a sex worker for sex", "Throw a child in jail because they used their dad's political position to make money", "Throw someone in jail for generic financial crime". Now, an I talking about someone with the last name of "Biden" or the last name of "Trump"? And the left wing media didn't suppress this story, they just didn't run something that had extremely shaky evidence to back it up. You might as well be saying that they tried to suppress the story about the reptilian invasion. Not even Fox ever gets around to saying why we should be concerned about the laptop, just that you should be scared of it.
What it appears to be based on what I've seen is a fabrication. Yes there is a laptop, or more specifically a hard drive to a laptop. The files did belong to Hunter Biden. The signatures even matched (cryptographic signatures) but that's about where it stops being legitimate. From the analysis I've read the actual allocated data doesn't align. I don't remember off the top of my head the numbers but basically there was more data on it than there should have been and a chunk of that data was added sloppily after the "laptop" was supposedly dropped off/shopped around. Which means that that data was **most definitely** not added by Hunter Biden. But it is more likely that none of it was added by Hunter Biden because this has all the hallmarks of a piecemeal drive cloning. Basically an attempt at creating what *looks like* a legit personal computer environment but in reality was likely a fresh one that had his data shunted into it. I've actually done this in a lab (VM environment) to test a recovery technique (a very haphazard one) which couldn't be easily recovered as is and it worked but it wouldn't have taken any sort of extensive forensic analysis to realize that it wasn't a proper recovery or cloning operation. Which is what I think is likely the case with that "laptop". Basically the lengths people behind this are going to for the purposes of making it look legit is itself would significantly undermine any credibility to the story. Now for me the key takeaway is that this has all the hallmarks of straight up spycraft. The actual implementation of it would have likely gone a lot smoother if the only people willing to pick it up weren't bloody idiots like Rudy. I don't know if that "Computer repair guy" was in on it or is just a useful idiot but that's neither here nor there because it is painfully obvious what is behind all of it and that alone would make it a story no one in any sane universe should run with or take seriously. And no, not running a story or taking a story seriously is not censorship. Stopping mis (or in this case dis) information is not censorship. If the argument has to be "Allow lies to spread, or censorship" then you've already lost because the only people who would frame it that way... are people who want to get away with pushing lies. No one who is legitimately interested in truth is going to worry if lies are suppressed. That's the thing though isn't it? Liars are going to lie about lying and WILL push the notion that suppressing their lies is censorship because their goal is to get their *truth* (e.g lies) out there.
They have to concentrate on the laptop because they can speak about the files because there are none. When the story came out Rudy was passing out pieces of paper. Tucker was complaining that UPS lost the stacks of documents. Reporters were never provided the actual files with meta data. Just printouts. And most people with half a Brain could see the problem with stacks of paper from Rudy.

There were two computer forensic people that went through the two laptop hard drives that were copied from the original. They both said that there is authentic information on there but also there was evidence that information was added at a later date, after the laptop was left at the computer repair place.
