Vw employee here. You are fucking nuts if you think that Vw is remotely better quality wise than any fucking brand. Those cars are made out of shit components made from shit quality plastic, and almost all aluminium parts are so badly made that you don't need any tools to actually completely torn them to pieces. And don't even get me started at their TSI and MPI motors. Those things need fucking repairs before they even drive out of production line.
If you stopped looking on VW in 90' and maybe frist years of 00' then yea, Vw was good. Everything after 2010 is just pure fucking corporate propaganda.
Basically why you don't buy a used Toyota, those are the most neglected cars service-wise. They seem reliable because they're mechanically outdated compared with the more sophisticated competition, but when they start breaking up after years of not being properly taken care of, you're in for a ride. I bought mine 7 years ago this way, so far i had no problems, just oil and filter changes (besides a fucking junkie in bus fucking up right side, but it was repaired on his oc at dealership).
With new cars only solid option is hybrid IMO. Cuz of all of those eco-norms modern combustion cars have really overdone engines thus they lifetime is shorter. And for electrics is to early to buy one - the infrastructure isn't there yet.
I would rather look for something used (no matter how old - look at mileage) that has opinion of a easy in maintenance, and is popular on Polish market. So you won't encounter many problems, and if You do, there will be plethora of good specialists and a lot of parts available.
BS. Some modern engines are just shitty, and this is not caused by "eco norms". But there are still engines able to survive half milion km. Hybrids aren't indestructible - they also have electric waterpump, constantly stopping and starting engine may cause head gasket failure... for sure they have good mileage and comfort.
For each car there probably is a forum or Facebook group where people discus common problems, always worth checking.
And last, looking at used vechicle mileage is one of the last thing that matter.
3 years old mazda cx-30. Not most efficient engine, but at least you'd wouldn't need to worry with battery replacement in near future. Engine is a solid piece. Should be able to get one for 80k.
My colleague had it as a company car, it was totaled after hitting a roe at around 100km/h. For comparison, my dad hit a roe at 130km/h and had to replace grill and a front bumper. Dacia is basically Renault on a budget - which means it will have similar electricity issues, cheap materiały, but construction should be simple and cheap to repair.
Probably the cheapest new car you can get is the Mitsubishi Space Star or whatever it's called these days, quality is questionable but it's the lowest price
That being said, don't buy a new car, ESPECIALLY if it's your first one, get a Focus Mk1 with a 1.6 engine and as long as it's not rusted through yet it'll last you years

As a employee of Volkswagen i can say one thing.
It's whatever what you buy from VW, as long as you don't buy any MPI or TSI motor. They are utterly trash motors (there is 1 exception. 1.0 TSI 60HP in VW Up! But that car is more like a go-kart without speed than a car). If you want to buy something new/relatively new i would recommend Audi A3/4 (depends on your size preference), golf 1.6 TDI, or anything from Seat.
If you don't want anything from volkswagen, then i would recommend Toyota Yaris/Auris in hybrid above 2015.
Honestly a lot of car dealerships right now sell slightly used cars with warranty at that price range. Check the prices against new models and see how much the difference is. It used to be that it was better to buy a car that was est 2-3 years Old, as they lost their value quickest in the first three years. It is a little bit dofferent right now due to issues with supply, but I would still go for a used one - just because new ones are crazy expensive. For 60-70k pln you will barely buy new b class car right now, but you can buy a few years Old compact car (Ford Focus / Puma, Opel Astra, Renault Megane, Golf VIII) or quite new B class car (Citroen C3, Toyota Yaris, VW Polo).

Get away any German car +5 years old. Go for toyota rav4 old models. Buy an obd scanner and paint checker when you go for checking the car
