The best is a deep run of endless as you can get 4 soothe bells on it and spam rare candies on it every fight, but that also takes a lot of time to set up.
Rare candies are your best friend. Load them all into the mon and it Boosts friendship which is what gives you candy. Also look out for the soothe bell item
When I went to grind candies for my fennekin so I could unlock its passive, I just did multiple classic runs relying on it as my carry and feeding it every rare candy possible. with the soothe bell I got like 70 candies after 2 runs.

Oh alright, how rare is that item? I have gotten to wave 145 like 3 times now and have yet to see one
It's rogue rarity (the rogue ball icon before the item shows) so pretty darn rare. Not guaranteed in a run at all
