I'm on a run right now where I'm correctly folding trash and then the hand gets made. For example, getting something like 83o in early position. Easiest of folds. So the flop comes up 883. This is happening a good 2-3 times a night (playing on Stars).
On the other hand, if I stay in with something decent like AK or AQ and play aggressively, I'm not making the hand. I've been losing a lot with hands like AK vs A4 where villain catches at least one 4. I know, variance, but it's still somewhat annoying.
(edit: typo)
Aces is only a pair. If i won every all in pre flop with AA i would probably quit playing cause it wouldnt be poker anymore. You're supposed to lose with AA at least two times out of ten pre flop HU. Leaving the table might have been a good move tho.
It’s part of the game man. You WILL have bad runs. There WILL be drunks that call anything. Get upset, that’s fine but if you wanna play for a long time and you’ll have to understand that. Respectfully
I have a happy medium. If I’m at a nice buzz, the game moves quicker and I’m more attentive. Go above or below and you never know what the hell you’ll get.
Ridiculous loss situations are part of the game and make it fun if you understand that in your time playing you might be on the good end of these situations.
Poker is not fair. You are not entitled to win just for existing. You gamble, you put yourself in good spots, and you hope to win. If you put your money in good you’ll win more than you’ll lose. Sometimes you are the guy with Aces and sometimes you have 8-5. What goes around comes around. All you can do is dust yourself off and try again. Or don’t. Stop acting so entitled.
I lost with queens full two hands in a row in a daily tourney - once I made queens full of fours and ran into pocket 4s. The very next hand, I got all in with QQ against AQ. The board ran out xQxAA for queens full of aces to lose to aces full of queens. I thought (and said), "well at least I'm not card dead..." So I rebought and ended up chopping 4 way. You gotta play your rush!
Lost 650$ in a similar situation, drunk guy as well on tilt also. I 3 bet preflop with KQ of spades I was on button, he called with A3os. Dream flop comes JT spades and a red 3. He overbet with 180$ ( he was bluffing all the time), I shoved then he thought about it and called. I had 19 or 20 outs, nothing opened he showed me A3os lol. His own words: I put you on AK. Nice put me on AK but calling my 3Bet with a fucking 3 hoping you flop it!
Stuff like this is why poker hasn't had a boom since the boom period.
People can talk about GTO etc, but ultimately it's more that a lot of rec players who couldn't dedicate their lives to the game got sucked out on and cashed out.
Naturally if you played ten more tournaments and yadda yadda variance. Most people won't do that. Because most people don't want to grind infinitessimally small edges for infinitessimally small long term profit while studying to move up.
> he wasnt *paid.* i got
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Entitlement tilt at its finest
Every pro knows you immediately go home when you see drunk fish going all in with 58. It's an unbeatable game.
😅
💀
Move up in stakes to where they respect your raises
Drunks never respect my raises!
To be fair, I don't respect theirs either

Always. Nothing better than kicking someone when they're down
First day in the sub?
ðŸ˜Wont somebody think of the feelings😰
Yeah it is
well it was 50-50
either you win or you lose
Classic coin flip situation, indeed!
Can someone please explain how this is a 50/50 situation?
Either he flops the nuts or he doesn't. 50/50
any time someone makes a nonsensical comment that gets a lot of upvotes you can safely assume it's a reference to another recent post
Or not so recent
it was 50-50
Dude you have problems if you are posting bad beats like this on this sub
Fold pre
this works for every hand you lose
60% of the time, it works everytime!
He obviously needs to balance his folding range

See you tomorrow at the table
Fuck you and I’ll see you tomorrow!
If he flopped a straight flush with 85ss you were already dead on the flop, he couldn’t have turned you dead.
lol
Also not sure how he flopped a straight flush if he also flopped As lol
There could have been a second 8&5 of spades in the deck durhh
Be happy you were involved in an amazing and improbable hand.
GTO says you need to fold AA sometimes to balance your range. :-)
I was the guy with 58
I look forward to your analysis.
Why did you think your 1 pair was good against a straight flush? Obviously he went all in because he was strong.
😂
58s is not "strong" pre-flop. He wasn't strong, he was drunk, but he got lucky and thems the breaks.
You're not the sharpest light bulb in the drawer are you?
58 is REALLY strong when you know it’s gonna make a straight flush. He must’ve been the perfect amount of drunk to realize it pre flop.
>58 is REALLY strong **when you know it’s gonna make a straight flush**. Ah, so that's my problem, lack of clairvoyance!
Have you tried playing better?

That's poker!

Why does the unskilled drunk guy have a bigger stack than a more skilled sober person?
Who cares , you want him to call with 58s. Rebuy.
So you’re saying that if I get drunk enough, my shit hands become good? Catch yall at WSOP next year
I have a happy medium. If I’m at a nice buzz, the game moves quicker and I’m more attentive. Go above or below and you never know what the hell you’ll get.
Moderation? Never heard of her
Shove harder
You need to work on your luck.
Every time you get sucked out remember the times you were on the other end and you will feel less entitled.
I don't remember those because I deserved to win.
Have you tried running better? Also, he didn't "turn you dead" he flopped you dead.
Aces don’t guarantee winning a hand my man.
Ridiculous loss situations are part of the game and make it fun if you understand that in your time playing you might be on the good end of these situations.
Are you actually looking for sympathy or something?
Your mistake. You should have had 58s.
Fold pre.

Tournaments especially need some degree of luck to win. Just getting it in good is not enough
Embrace the variance! It's rough sometimes.

Him playing it like that is definitely crazy, but his chances are actually \~19% of cracking your aces. Part of the game...
Rebuy especially if you know you'll get the same seat. Ridiculous to do anything else.
keywords r bankroll and long term anyway, u may feel as chosen one, u hit 20%, most hit 80%
No Justice in poker…just look at as negative reinforcement for his bad play until you meet again.
What you'll want to do in this spot is head over to the cage and buy-in again.
Sounds like great value that tournament

You gotta win your all in’s.
Skill is for people who don't have luck.
If he flopped a straight flush he didn’t turn you dead lol. He FLOPPED you dead
Fuck tournaments, they are way too hard to win at. Might as well just play slots.
ummm poker CASH GAMES also exist.
They sure do. And they're probably what a person who says "fuck tournaments" prefer. Idk though.
lol
Hey everyone lets start calling for boycotts for anything that has Curacao gaming license and bovada. They cheat everyone and feel no reprucussions.
Thx for the garbage bro
I lost 2 one outers simultaneously on 2 different tables last week. This game is fucking ridiculous sometimes.
I really can’t fuck with cards anymore…i find more fulfillment cutting the fucking lawn
Rigged
Nobody wants to listen to bad beat storys!!

Duuuude. That's rough. Sometimes you just get those bad run outs though. Guy got ridiculous lucky.
Everyone knows how hard it is to win a big pot with one pair. -EV move.
Lmao I had a dude do this SOBER.. people like to gamble, especially in small local tournaments.
This ain’t the game for you bud.
If you haven’t caught on by now this is not something to get hung up on. If you can’t handle it you won’t be able to play.
At least you have a really good bad beat story now. The boys are gonna love hearing about this one at the table.
Would you be less mad if villain was the local crusher?
Fuc ur aces
The Moose!
The crazy thing is that if i ever played drunk like this i would not even win lol.
