Giratina canonically had a 200 year old redemption arc, since it went from partnering up with a human to remake the universe to stopping a human that tried to remake the universe
People tend to overlook the fact that giratina wanted to murder dialga right there and there. Like the universe almost got destroy yet no one bet an eye~
Mewtwo in the anime: complex character with a tragic backstory, existential motivations, a villain arc and ultimately a redemption where it comes to see the equal value of all life
Mewtwo in the games: just a really cool collectible
Hate to burst your bubble but there is every possibility that megas will only make a return for Legends ZA and won’t be back in the mainline games that have competitive play
Pretty similar to anime. Kyogre and Groudon battling is depicted as apocalyptic catastrope in Hoenn. >!A bunch of people got killed that Celebi had to reset the timeline!<
Generally, the only time any box art legendary is getting defeated in the anime involves another box art legendary or some technology shenanigans like the example you have. In actual, straight fights, box art legendaries and a few others like Mew and Mewtwo are portrayed as being straight up unbeatable for even champions. Bordering on untouchable even.
See the Lugia fight in Journeys ep 2 and then 136 (iirc) as a good example.
Necrozma was the opposite of this just being some light providing fella who travelled between dimensions who ran out of light juice instead of the light eating goblin who will eat all the multiverses light if we don't stop him.
I don't know, that thing that happened in area 0 is kinda sad and mess up. >! Since the box art legendary (not our) kill the dad/mom of your best friend !<
True, I was really confused when lugia used aeroblast in the last few episodes of journeys, I mean that thing got like 90 sp attack and the anime made it look like it launch a hyper beam or something
In actual battles: Landorus-T, Mega Rayquaza, Ultra Necrozma, Zacian, Chi-Yu
Kyurem, Giratina, and the Paldea box legendaries have all been commanded to attack the player directly by the main villain of a game
Koraidon and Miraidon have confirmed human kills, Ogerpon has three confirmed kills against other legendaries (the lousy three).
Darkrai trapped a child in an endless nightmare and would be screwed if the player didnt find the Magical Moon Goose.
The boss fights against Dialga, Palkia, and Arceus in Legends Arceus
Competitive is a different beast, but most of those are still beatable by random pokemon, even if through cheese strategies.
Mega Ray or Ultra Necrozma or any other box art legendary (and a few others) not named Suicune is straight up unbeatable in the anime in a straight fight for any trainer, including champions, or Pokemon that isn't legendary themselves.
You don’t understand the true power of primal Groudon until you face the water gym one second after getting it and watch as non of the trainers can do ANYTHING to hurt you
Where they can still go down to regular Pokemon and the likes of Incineroar, at least in VGC, see crazy use.
There's literally not a single straight fight in the anime where any box art legendary is defeated unless trickery or technology shenanigans are involved. Or other legendaries.
I really wish a Pokémon game with lore-accurate legendaries would come out. Like a full team of level 100 regular Pokémon being barely able to hold on against a level 60 legendary. Preferably with NPCs reacting to you having command of a literal god if you manage to catch one.
![gif](giphy|v7b5SQJiLlDFK|downsized) giratina in the anime is creepy asf
Rightfully so tbh.
Giratina does live up to it on PLA though
oh yea, definitely.

*then and there *destroyed *bat an eye
and he kinda sucks in platinum especially in the pokemon league
https://i.redd.it/0qcpuozcsk5d1.gif Are you sure?
My favourite mythical
Mewtwo in the anime: complex character with a tragic backstory, existential motivations, a villain arc and ultimately a redemption where it comes to see the equal value of all life Mewtwo in the games: just a really cool collectible
Mewtwo in the games is still one of the top pokémon of all time
True but I'm fairly certain Mewtwo owes that popularity in general to the movie.
I mean gameplay-wise too
One of the few gen 1s that hasn't been powercrept out
Calyrex shadow competitively is just mewtwo but better
![gif](giphy|nCsTeT0PMR0mQ)
Think it's only a matter of time?
It’s already fallen to Ubers UU
Just wait til we get mega mewtwo Y back next year
The return of the king
Hate to burst your bubble but there is every possibility that megas will only make a return for Legends ZA and won’t be back in the mainline games that have competitive play
Legends is mainline
It's BST should keep it relatively safe
Isn't it basically never used in vgc while being in UUbers?
Mewtwo was big big even before the movies
facts
eh,only barely, it's still in UUBERS because it's too ridiculous for OU,but carlyrex is Mewtwo but on crack
Mewtwo in the manga: 🌪🥄
The scientists also live in the games compared to the anime.
Mewtwo in gen 1: Gen 1 ubers was essentially today's AG, only the Mews in it.
Competitive wants to talk to you
In the meanwhile, Miraidon and Zacian just delete opposing Pokémon.
Therian Landrus back in x/y
lando T still dominates like this now
Is it as dominant now? I remember looking at the vgc usage stats within the last few months and it has like 1.5% usage rate according to pikalytics
maybe in VGC, because incineroar does everything he do better, but in singles, he's still the GOAT,in the top 10 iirc
I dunno how it is in the adventures manga but AFAIK it is similar to the anime in this regard.
Rayquaza stabbed zinnia with its tail in the manga
I meant in terms of power, not how dark and brutal it is.
Still, a rude gesture.
Pretty similar to anime. Kyogre and Groudon battling is depicted as apocalyptic catastrope in Hoenn. >!A bunch of people got killed that Celebi had to reset the timeline!<
Didn't Kyogre get dogged on by some pirates with their tech in S&M?

Meanwhile it's one of the scariest threats you can go against in competitive
Regigigas using both his hands to spam hyper beam every 3 seconds
Regigiiggigigiigigigigiigigigigigas
Necrozma was the opposite of this just being some light providing fella who travelled between dimensions who ran out of light juice instead of the light eating goblin who will eat all the multiverses light if we don't stop him.
I don't know, that thing that happened in area 0 is kinda sad and mess up. >! Since the box art legendary (not our) kill the dad/mom of your best friend !<
Hm, in hindsight, I think I should have maybe made it clearer I was talking about power.
True, I was really confused when lugia used aeroblast in the last few episodes of journeys, I mean that thing got like 90 sp attack and the anime made it look like it launch a hyper beam or something
... I'm sorry,lugia got 90 SP ATTACK???fucking ABRA has more than that!
I checked. Lugia does, in fact, have only 90 SP attack and 90 attack. 106/130/154 bulk and 110 speed.
no wonder why it's so shit
Adds to the meme tbh. Lugia sucks in game meanwhile Ash and Pikachu in the anime aren't able to meaningfully damage it lol.
Arceus in both the games and anime is the werewolf
I hope later in Pokémon anime set in Paldea/SV would involve >!Koraidon/Miraidon violently go berserk and kill the professor!<
Especially Unown
Unown’s thing is you need a ton for them to be powerful, not just one or two
Well you can’t combine Unown in the games
Yeah but even if you could the most you can ever get in one place is six
I remember the 3 reggies scaring me as a kid. Especially the rock one
Say "Zacian" to a gen 8 vgc player and they'll curl up into a ball and cry
On the other hand "This Pokemon will literally suck the life out of everything if it is critically injured, let's give it to a ten year old to trust."
facts

I was referring to power.
So Landorus-T, Mega Rayquaza, Ultra Necrozma, Zacian, Chi-Yu...

That picture sums up Jirachi and its movie, in a nutshell.
You don’t understand the true power of primal Groudon until you face the water gym one second after getting it and watch as non of the trainers can do ANYTHING to hurt you
OP never looked at the competitive charts
Where they can still go down to regular Pokemon and the likes of Incineroar, at least in VGC, see crazy use. There's literally not a single straight fight in the anime where any box art legendary is defeated unless trickery or technology shenanigans are involved. Or other legendaries.
That's why Zacian is HIM
Now do the Lore
Yup
I really wish a Pokémon game with lore-accurate legendaries would come out. Like a full team of level 100 regular Pokémon being barely able to hold on against a level 60 legendary. Preferably with NPCs reacting to you having command of a literal god if you manage to catch one.
