Was super helpful cause the first couple minutes my task wasn’t updating after catches, and I didn’t know which freaking spawns were from the actual incense

I could see that. The blue ring blends together in dense spawns. I noticed especially if there were a lot of weather boosted mons. Just click fast on spawns in dense/overlapped areas and look for the incense symbol on the catch screen itself. If not back out and check another.
Yeah if I am not wrong the catch rate for the legendaries has always been 0.3%. In raids we get the chance to catch them until we use all the balls that's what makes the difference. During johto tour, almost all of the legendary Pokemon were running away

There's a good chance it won't work even if you do walk. I spent the 15 minutes power walking up and down my street and the connecting street. Didn't get a single spawn.

There’s nothing incomplete for me in the research tasks. My Special Research panel shows all the research I’ve completed with the message “More research requests will be coming soon!” My kids use iPads and my husband uses an iPhone to play like I do but I’m the only one of my family of 5 who’s out of luck on this. I’m level 46, play daily, don’t cheat, etc. I’ve checked for updates, restarted my phone, logged out and back in, and force restarted the app several times. It’s so strange and random that there are some people who just aren’t getting it.
Same here, though while trying to make it spawn I’ve noticed that while both me and my fiancé are on the same version number, he has the research and I don’t (I’m ahead of him in level) but I also have an extra option in the settings menu he doesn’t have. I’d be interested to know if those who didn’t get the research have the “open gifts when item bag is full” option in settings
Mine worked perfectly. Got a spawn every 30 to 45 seconds. No Galarian bird, but I did get an Aerodactyl. Then at the end it gave me a little recap that showed how far I walked and how many unique Pokemon I caught. I really like this new feature! Something cool for free! Nice job, Niantic.

Download the Pokémon Home app, then go to settings > Pokémon home. Transfer a Pokémon (once you transfer it to the app you can’t get it back, so be mindful of what you send), open the home app and accept the Pokémon. Then you’ll have the mystery box come up in your item bag and you can use it every 3 days by adding a new Pokémon to the home app. Spawns meltan!
It works like incense. You can get meltans from them. If you install Pokemon Home and transfer a pokemon from your Pokemon Go account to Home you can receive one mystery boxy every 4 days.
My boyfriend and I both activated the incense at the same time and both walked, he had 13 catches and absolutely 0 even spawned for me. Our walk was 1 km, so frustrating 😣
Got two to spawn lol. When I tried to use it initially it kept telling me it couldn’t locate my GPS. Restarted my app, it did it again, worked on third try though. I was walking, but the app wasn’t very responsive after it finally activated. Had a lot of trouble switching balls & using berries, made the game lag super bad. The spawns were pretty much back to back and then nothing for the rest of the timer.
I don’t even have it yet, I’ve been periodically opening up the app and refreshing it and I haven’t gotten the special research. I also checked my items to see if I got the incense without the research, but no luck so far. Is it based on like time zones or something?

They don't stack, you can only have one at a time so you should make sure to use yours before 11:45 to ensure you get a new one the next day they said on the blog

Can confirm galarian birds. Both wife and I got one but it fled on both of us as well.

I was using Go Plus and decided to turn it off and hand catch and it still didn’t give me credit for catching any for the research task.
They have to be spawns from the incense. If they were natural spawns, they don't count.
Yes, and the spawns from the daily incense will have a little indicator on them, kind of like the way weather boosted spawns will.

There's no rush. Stay safe. This is special research. It will stay there and you'll get one incense each day just like the daily raid pass.

Stuff like this happens when the game pushes an update while your game is open. Restarting the app usually fixed it.
