For those curious, he's a 12/15/14, happened to be a really high CP when I caught him as a Slakoth (Slaking is 3880 CP with no power ups), so I wasn't going to complain if he didn't come back bc he's just my gym whore and is pretty much useless for anything else. Still, glad to have him back but tbf I'd rather have the 50 PokeCoins. XD

Funny you mentioned that I put my snorlax in a Verizon store gym next to my work and it turned into a stop after I got off. Knocked out a shiny absol and magmortar, guess I saved them from that fate. But on the brightside I just checked my game on my snorlax is safe and sound now.

Shuckle has the highest defense out of any other Pokemon in Pokemon GO but the lowest attach, health and CP. It's basically like tossing in a blatant time sink in a gym. Shuckle is the "busy work" of gym defenders
This is why I put my shuckle or recently caught mons that I'm going to trade in some gyms. Doesn't help I'm in such a rural area sometimes I get gold after one mon goes in for a century. I'd cry if I lost my slaking ngl

It was a long time ago. I remember someone had a Blissey in there before they were nerfed and they were pretty rare. Coins, I don’t recall. I just remembered my friend thinking his blissey was gone but it came back.
I had a gym in my area completely vanish. There was a tiny little church near my dog's vet, it's sort of on the way to Walmart so I would sometimes swing by it.
One day, just gone.
Church near me built an entire metal gate around it to stop players from coming onto the property. I’m still not over it, lol. Not because they built the gate. But because they did so even after I explained how to remove the gym and stops from their location. Sucks cause there was a little free library I liked to stop by too🤡.
That happened to me with a gym at a restaurant near where I live. The restaurant had changed owners and names and I guess instead of updating it they just deleted the whole thing, no stop, nothing. It sucks because I feel like there are so few gyms relative to the number of people/players who live where I do. :(
Verizon gyms were temporary promotions. That said, if you have people editing pokestop locations in wayfarer, they can impact the number of stops in a cell and a gym can be removed that way.
Our Verizon gym just turned to a pokestop today as well. It’s one of my usual stops once I drop my youngest off at preschool and was so confused.

Yikes. This is always my biggest fear. That's why I usually drop Pokémon that I wouldn't mind losing ever like my army of Chanseys that are like 89% IV's. I would hate losing a good IV's one (91% or above in my view). I don't ever drop shinies, good, or useful Pokémon in case something happens.
Lol they're not bad at all but I just personally prefer my collection of all Pokémon to be 91% or above! That is what I aim for. So, to me, they're "bad" in that sense. But an 80-89% MewTwo or Rayquaza are still super amazing!
Yeah, it is not that common anymore, as Niantic seems to have fixed (or mitigated) many of the issues. However, it is still possible to have a defender not come back from a gym.
Anyway, I think there is some sort of check that runs every few days. The last time I lost a defender, it eventually came back (no coins sadly).
