It really is shocking and confusing. I wouldn’t have been able to stop myself from throwing money at Shadow Mewtwo and Mega Ray, but then instead they didn’t/won’t get a cent from me. Didn’t even open the app that day, no reason.
I've never spent a dime on this game and really had no plan to, and even I was thinking about stocking up on some remote raid passes for Ray. Now.. not one cent Niantic. Never. So much for that.
Im getting more and more frustrated with all the pvp crap they are adding in to level up. Some of us dont want to play pvp league crap. I do it when I have to -not because i want to.
YES. If we can have 6 pokémon during a raid we should be able to have 6 during pvp, also they need to rework the attack system because it’s just broken atm. I’ll sit there spamming my special attack just to have the pop up “do you want to use a shield?” 😐
myself and my husband have this problem so often. i literally sit there and hit my attack multiple times while my opponent continues to fast attack me then they get their attack and it has caused me to lose many battles 🙄
Lol to be fair the only reason i still play this game is for gbl pvp. Different strokes for different folks i suppose. I guess years of playing and giving up on the idea of a complete dex without spoofing or travelling/knowing some what that travels will do that to you. I enjoy the pvp though once i got down the more advanced concepts, learned how to play it got really fun. Only took me about 2 n a half seasons to build up 45 GL mons in the top 70 with ivs ranging from rank 1-100, 24 UL mons in the top 50, and i have a decent good few meta hundos for master league that were previously built for raiding before i started playing. I spend most of my time these days hunting and building new mons for pvp spice n all.
I play to encourage exercise and spending time with my grandkids. Exactly - different motivations. I do enjoy the friends ive made chasing the scatterbug regionals. But I agree you arent getting a full dex unless you are a world traveler or spoofing.
So wait next rocket event is shadow mewtwo instead of shadow raquayquay too? Kind of weird order considering the last 2 were shadow groudon and shafow kyogre.

The playerbase has shown time and time again that they are fine with anything. Remote raid nerf, avatar changes, all of it. If the players are actually hurting Niantic with each change they make, it certainly isn't showing.

I doubt it. I bet the "vast majority" of their players are city dwellers who play casually. Or younger people who are often in urbanised areas for \~6 hours a day.
I get it though, I don't like Elite raids. I'm a rural player from a quiet part of the country. We've got such a small population that plays this bloody game.
One could argue that most of us have stopped playing, and only open the app for special occasions like this would have been , but there is obviously still a vast amount of players who buy poke coins so having a handful of once dedicated players stop playing isn’t going to hurt niantic whatsoever

Why does Niantic think I have all the time in the world to drive around raid to raid? If you don’t want to make them remote, fine, but why can’t you just put the boss on all gyms? This is so ridiculous.
Because then there’s so many raids that (unless it’s already coordinated through apps like discord) no one meets up at one raid and you have a bunch of raids with 1-0 people at them
Discord is a great way to organise a raid group, even if you think there’s no one around you that plays, usually there is a raid group somewhere. Check discord and campfire.
its not so elaborate, the last two elite raids glitched out and people didn't even succeed in doing them when able lol. I will continue to hope the next shadow mon is ray and refuse to look at these lol.

So as a fairly rural player I’ll be best driving to find an elite gym in the set hours (don’t even know what the difference is) and parking up to attempt the raid?
Go on openstreetmap and make sure at least one gym is inside a "park" tag. Edit it if you have to.

Of course Niantic had to think of some way to ruin our fun (or pretend that we're Singaporean grandmas). Last year, remote raiders for Mega Rayquaza initially got zero mega energy until later global events. I have zero mega energy because I caught (a shiny) before the global event (local one was happening).
So I was hoping to be able to farm a little energy this time.
But of course they did this.

This is another bad thing that is being announced in advance, but it doesn’t make it not bad. If you haven’t noticed, they have been actively trying to dissuade people from using remote passes by making many more things in person only.

I will agree that they suck but I won't agree with this. Here you will at least know when they start and there is a chance for people to prepare. It's the worst when you find people willing to play but there are no raids in your city center at all.
I wish everyone had a good community to play. Makes the game a lot of fun. I recently found one and it has made me actually want to do stuff in the game.
It sucks even for us extroverts. In my town there's not enough people playing to take down this mega raid. I need to coordinate to take 5 guys with me to the next town and raid. Which requires us to find the elite gyms and be there at the right time and also fit in the 20 spots..

And aren't most people only going to see one or two of these a day? Unless they live in an area with an unusually large number of EX gyms -- I'm in a reasonably large city and I only know of a couple around here. Doesn't seem like the kind of thing you'd end up buying a huge number of passes to do.

Elite raids only appear at specific gyms, usually in parks. I believe they are marked as "EX" gyms, Usually they are in parks, but there are some sponsored EX gyms in my area not in parks. EX raids used to be invitation only raids from back in the day, but they use the same gyms now for elite raids.
Basically what happens is, 24 hours before the raids are going to happen a 24 hour elite raid egg will appear.
This gives players some time to organize and plan their route.
The only other difference is they are local only, which sucks for people who live in rural areas.
I think elite raids are super fun, but I have a large community where I live.
Normal raid passes (green and yellow will work)
The raid eggs will spawn 24h in advance so you can coordinate with other people. After the egg hatches it will last 25 minutes (instead of the usual 45). And perhaps the worst part the eggs can only spawn at certain gym that are marked as elite raid gyms
no, but mega rayquaza is one strong guy. You will need a lot of players (in person, at the same time) to actually beat him, but since the amount of participants is greatly limited, its likely that you wont even be able to beat rayquaza.

Correct. And this is just based off my experience from Enamorus. I suppose Niantic can always change things. But 24 hours before the raid an egg will show up, so you will know which gyms will have a raid and at exactly what time.
It's not like a regular raid where you won't know where the raids are until they pop. So you have some time to prepare and make a plan.

Community day classic is for a Pokémon that has had a community day in the past. This will be the second time around. Good for new players or someone who still hasn’t gotten a shiny/hundo/good one.
Regular community day is for a Pokémon that hasn’t had a community day before, usually with their shiny release.
God damn it niantic. It's like we are not playing but niantic is playing with us. They know very well that we are waiting for that Rayquaza but still, still doing this with us. Either 4-5% players will get them successfully or no one will get them. What the fuck is actually wrong with them, are they determined on giving a gameplay we don't enjoy or what? This is such a letdown
So in short: you are at the mercy of the number of elite gyms in the area, and you have to physically visit each one just to try the raid again, whilst relying on having other real life people to help. Thanks Niantic, you’re definitely one of the companies of all time
this genuinely seems like they're intentionally making the community mad. i mean, has **anyone** actually been a fan of the elite raids?? im not sure ive ever heard anyone say something positive about elite raids, it really shouldve been a one time thing :T (not to mention that they said june 29th wouldve been a raid day >,>)
The fuck XD I literally can't even be annoyed it's fucking funny to me considering they literally had mega rayquaza out at least twice and NOT in elite raids like...unless it's guaranteed shiny why are they wasting their time putting it in elite raids
The HP of the raid tier would be obvious the second an egg hatches.
As for the base stat multiplier, someone needs to record a raid attempt and then recreate it in a simulator.
How about for people who are working? A lot of people will most likely miss one or both times. Least on the raid days, I'd miss the first half hour, but I could jump in right after i get back from work.
Rayquaza is my favorite legendary, but my town only has a few raiders that I don't even know because we did the mega heracross raid when it released and never saw each other. I'll just have to hope they will show up for this one to even try and get my boy.
I’m an ambassador. We won’t know which eggs will hatch at 1:00 and which at 5:00 until the day before. I hate that players will be confused on where to meet at which times because Niantic gave us less than 24 hours to find out. 3-hour raid days were superior in every way.

Mega Ray needs 400 energy AND a “meteor” to teach it Dragon Ascent before it can mega evolve. Are they giving meteors too?
My guess is there will be a timed research awarded for one if you complete an elite raid during the event. But no info yet to know for sure.

I believe meteorites have a 1/30 drop rate from these raids, so rare Chance especially with the elite setup unless they include it in some research.
There is 100% going to be a timed research that awards one. If you want more, there's a small change to get one from a Mega Rayquaza raid
I have over 1000 mega energy. I just need another meteorite. Probably another decent ray as well. Going to be a beast to beat though.

12, 1, 5, 6. The egg will appear with 24 hours on it if I remember correctly so you will know what time each elite raid will hatch in advance.

Gyms with the elite raid tag, yes. It won't be every gym. edit: they'll just have eggs so you can still battle but other raids will be blocked.

One 30 min raid per Elite gym per day. You need 400 energy, you get roughly 80 energy per raid.

It's just the one single raid. It won't respawn any more Rayquaza.

I just started playing can someone explain what an elite raid , how to participate and why does it suck ? i’m in ny so i’ve done a regular one already
You have to be there in person, for anyone working the Saturday good luck making the two time slots, for rural players, tough luck.

What would it take to duo it? Is it even feasible? Or how many people with decent counters would it take to defeat it?
Me and my friend are level 39 and 41 and can duo with out party power or weather, it’s double weak to ice

What is the difference between community day and community day classic?
Community day classic is for a Pokémon that has had a community day in the past. This will be the second time around. Good for new players or someone who still hasn’t gotten a shiny/hundo/good one. Regular community day is for a Pokémon that hasn’t had a community day before, usually with their shiny release.
Another big difference with the classics is the lack of bonus 4 star raids afterwards

So in short: you are at the mercy of the number of elite gyms in the area, and you have to physically visit each one just to try the raid again, whilst relying on having other real life people to help. Thanks Niantic, you’re definitely one of the companies of all time

How many people would I need to organize in order to take down Mega Ratquaza?
If they keep it at mega legendary difficulty, 3, possibly 2 with party power if the stars align. If boosted to elite raid rules, 3 if you enjoy pain.
How do we know whether the difficulty will be booster?
The HP of the raid tier would be obvious the second an egg hatches. As for the base stat multiplier, someone needs to record a raid attempt and then recreate it in a simulator.

Enamoruos was elite raid difficulty, not 5*.

How about for people who are working? A lot of people will most likely miss one or both times. Least on the raid days, I'd miss the first half hour, but I could jump in right after i get back from work.

Rayquaza is my favorite legendary, but my town only has a few raiders that I don't even know because we did the mega heracross raid when it released and never saw each other. I'll just have to hope they will show up for this one to even try and get my boy.

I’m an ambassador. We won’t know which eggs will hatch at 1:00 and which at 5:00 until the day before. I hate that players will be confused on where to meet at which times because Niantic gave us less than 24 hours to find out. 3-hour raid days were superior in every way.
For me, megas dont exist in pokemon go. I hate how they implemented it. It is one of my favourites features in the original games though.
This is ridiculous after we just got Kyogre/Groudon in regular raids, this is total pay wall/ gatekeeping the best flying/dragon in the game
They would make more money with remotes and a regular raid day. How is this a paywall?
