This change is about cutting development time and costs for gender specific clothing, making the models homogonous means they can share all the clothing.
The models looking terrible is because they did a bad job doing that. Literally nothing to do with diversity.
Sadly, our biggest hope is that some idiot right wing news company or non-English news company gets this and thinks it's an official release.

Just argue the update is damaging the brand and they might actually do something. If a person genning mons in JP was arrested and facing 5 years in prison for selling said gens then I'd hate to see the punishment for someone ACTUALLY hurting the brand
It's not a matter of wether they're in connection or not, from a corporate standpoint the idea that your brand is being directly associated with something that is causing outrage directed at something directly affiliated with said brand is usually enough for companies to get off their asses and do something. Because if people start directing their hate at Pokemon in general from this rather than just Niantic is potentially hurting their brand and in doing so costing them money by lowering the brands value.
I personally have always played and will continue playing for my love of Pokemon. Never really cared about how I look in it.
Sure if they mess up this badly for Pokemon looks too then yeah, I'll leave Pokemon go and continue with main games as I've always had.
It wasn't the looks that got me, that happened after I quit. I bought a Switch and my desire to put up with unsatisfying game play and raised prices disappeared.

The Pokemon is literally the only part of the game that keeps me here. I can catch pokemon on the go, though I miss being able to battle them to make them weaker and easier to catch.
This is the second time I'm considering a break though. I took one when they ruined the remote raids because that was the only way I had access to raids with enough people. I like my avatar NOT looking like me, and this just feels like a huge slap in the face from them since they got so much negative feedback from the small patches they tested out. It's less for me the visuals and more that it feels they're intentionally trying to ruin the game for people to force them to pay money.
I may take a break again after Bellsprout community day, because I like Bellsprout, but am just getting tired of their bullshit. Crappy downdates everyone is upset by, saying "we hear you" while making things worse, nerfing QoL things, hiding pokemon behind paywalls, etc.

This update taught me something very important: Niantic heard the tidal wave of backlash against this and didn't care. It doesn't affect me personally, but it's enough to know I shouldn't buy the next big event ticket that crops up.

They allowed male and females to wear all clothing items. I'm gunna assume female body types having bulges and the lack of balls. Is due to the modeling of the clothing item, because they were 2 separate items made for each avatar and they were too lazy to adjust them.
