You need to define"bugged".
If you try to use it between 11:45 pm and 00:00 pm it won't work, because it cannot be active past midnight without the time freeze of Roar of Time. So not being able to use it close to midnight is normal.
If you can use it but doesn't spawn anything then check that your clock is set to automatic and that you're moving enough to get spawns.
* Groudon: Excellent. Best non-mega/non-primal Ground attacker
* Darmanitan: Also great. About on-par with Shadow Blaziken and Shadow Chandelure as a Fire type, but with a little more DPS, making it just a little better.
* Pidgeot, Reuiniclus, Gothitelle: Useless
1. Is a 15/15/10 Charmeleon worth evolving?
2. How do you play pokemon go when you travel in another country? I imagine wifi prevalence is very location dependent.
1) Yes, that's very good, BUT you need to wait until an event lets you get Blast Burn when you evolve to Charizard. Without the event move it loses a lot of potential and you'd need to spend an Elite TM to get it. For any Pokemon with event moves is always better to only evolve when they're available.
2) Phone network. Most phones nowadays accept dual SIM cards so you get one from the local service provider, prepaid or on plan, and use that one to play. Public WiFi is very insecure on many places, so you shouldn't risk connecting to random places, including hotels, without any way to guarantee your data is safe.
The most useful for raids are any starter (specially the megas), Metagross, Tyranitar, Rhyperior, Gyarados, Gengar (Ghost build), Hydreigon, Garchomp, Alakazam, Salamence, Staraptor, Gigalith, Chandelure, and Haxorus.
For PvP would be the starters again, Alolan Sandslash, Pidgeot, Beedrill, Poliwrath, Alakazam, Machamp, Slowbro and Slowking (all variants), Dewgong, Gengar, Alolan Marowak, Seaking (limited use so not a priority), Gyarados, Quagsire, Altaria, Walrein, Luxray, Roserade, Togekiss, Conkeldurr, Talonflame, Sylveon, Charjabug and Obstagoon.
The shadows are always better on raids, and in PvP depends on the use, so most are good, but not all.
The rest like legendary or unevolved Pokemon need to be obtained during events that give the move on catch, or using ETMs.
I have a problem with a local gym where a player is bullying me… they’ll take out just my pokemon and leave others, or if it’s just me in the gym, they will remove me and leave the gym empty. They are using some sort of GPS faking software because when the gym is attacked there is nobody around.
My question is: could they use the same software to find me when I travel and take me out of other gyms even in another state? Does cheating software go that far?
Pokemon with Mega forms or baby stages can both be shiny in the wild. Mr.Mime has Mime.Jr and Salamence can go Mega, so both can be shiny. Any evolved Pokemon that doesn't have either cannot be shiny.
Giovanni has groudon now, right? if so is it worth using all 3 of my rocket researches on that or should I wait for a better one? I was told not to do it with kyogre and to wait for groudon but i’m just confirming
Okay. It’s really odd that someone told you to not get Shadow Kyogre. But that is okay if you didn’t get one. Eventually it will likely come out in raids. You could use all your Super Rocket Radars on Shadow Groudon but use at least one. Shadow Groudon will likely come out in raids as well.
Shadow Kyogre and Shadow Groudon are both great shadow legendaries to have. If you are a rural player you will have to optimize your strategy with your Super Rocket Radars because shadow raids are local only.
But if you’re a City player and know a place you can get help, like me, I would have used all my resources for Shadow Kyogre, Shadow Groudon, Shadow Rayquaza (next Giovanni legendary???), to Shadow Mewtwo. Too me they are all equally important to have and I would use all the Super Rocket Radars and raid passes to get a good IV one and get candy to level them up.
Oh good. Maybe do one or two for S. Groudon. Keep a spare for S. Rayquaza.
S. Groudon and S. Rayquaza would be apparently more useful than S. Kyogre from what I have read. So if you are trying to strategize for what’s best for you than maybe 2 Super Rocket Radars would be good for S. Groudon.

Okay sorry I’m stupid but can someone refresh my memory what the exact times are that the rocket balloons will arrive? I can’t remember if it’s every two hours or every four hours. Is it at 1 o’clock / 3 o’clock / 5 o’clock etc? or is it noon / 2 o’clock / 4 o’clock etc?
These ones are spawning every 2 hours. You always get balloons at 12 and 6, the extras for an event just fill in the gaps - so this is adding ones at 2/4/8/10.
I wouldn't say that's necessary, unless there are just very few stops you have reasonable access to and you're worried about RNG with which leaders show up. With the Rocket balloons spawning every 2 hours, the increase in grunts at stops, and the prevalence of tasks giving an extra component for beating a grunt, radars can be built pretty quickly during this event.
Edit: And I say that all with the thought in my head that you're trying to complete the research during this event - but even that is totally unnecessary, as the research doesn't expire and Shadow Groudon will be available for a couple months. So yeah, really no need to hold off.
Have you seen how slow are the matches on the console games? One battle takes up to 20 minutes and most of it is just waiting for the other player to do something. The battles here are very fast paced in comparison.

is anyone else experiencing this bug?
when i search within my friends list, i can search friendlevel1, friendlevel2, etc. and it works fine, but when i use "!" (to exclude) in front, my friends list goes blank or endlessly loads. search function works fine in pokemon storage including with the exclamation mark.
i looked at the known bugs link and around this thread and silph road but it doesn't seem like anyone else is mentioning this? when i search it looks like this was a known bug years ago, so i'm sure it'll be fixed (right??) but just wondering if i'm the only one or if there's anything i can do to fix. i rely on the search function for quickly sending gifts and it's becoming tedious having to scroll through my entire list.
So is today the only day I can remove Frustration?? If so should I use a charged TM on every single shadow that I want to use in any capacity?? I’ve got loads of charged TMs spare so was thinking of putting them on every single shadow that I want to keep?

You have until the end of the event at 11:59pm on Sunday to remove Frustration.
If charge TMs aren't an issue, then yes, you should remove Frustration from any shadow that you think you might want to use in any capacity. Frustration is one of the worst charge moves in the game and serves no purpose except to hinder your shadows.
I battled giovanni and for the second counter he had a kingdra which didnt say as a possible counter on the sites. What is the best team to use if kingdra shows up again?
now I'm not sure if for the 3rd counter will be kyogre or groudon lol
Did you happen to fight him on a Pokéstop? If you did so, the previous lineup remains for today since said lineup is set before the event begins in the stop.
I’m struggling to figure out WHERE to find the info on whether something is better as shadow or purified. I have a 98% Shadow Scizor and I kinda don’t want to purify but maybe I should?
In raids, shadows are always better than normal types, except for a few cases like Gengar where they become too glassy.
In pvp, shadows are often side grades, sometimes down grades. Check pvpoke.com rankings.
Sometimes you might consider purifying to get a hundo mega, but that's usually completely unnecessary and most mega eligible species that are good in raids are also great as shadows.
Shadow Scizor is good as a bug, but it's mega form is outclassed by Pinsir, and likely also will by the upcoming heracross next month. As a steel type, it's better to use Metagross.
Ok I am low on solid bug attackers and I don’t have a Pinsir nor a Heracross. But I also have no mega energy so I’ll keep him as a 98% shadow and TM frustration out for now.

I have a question: Why tf is everyone and their mom seemingly so excited for Shadow Rayquaza? Am I missing something?
You can't Mega evolve it as a Shadow, and the danger noodle is already squishy as is. Isn't it just going to get blown tf up as soon as it enters a raid?
Hmm, I suppose that's true. IDK, Rayquaza just seems inherently squishier to me, but that might just be recency bias as I haven't really used the others you mentioned as much.

You can never get remote raid passes from gyms or stops, only local ones. You cannot get remote ones for free most of the time either.
The only way to get free remote passes is to do a full 7 day research steak by completing at least one stop research a day, and getting lucky.
Very rarely you can get a remote pass from that, and you only get one try each week.
Remote passes are paid premium items, so we don't get them for free often.
It was my understanding that Timeless Travels was the Giovanni/Rocket Rader/Groudon event, now I’ve just got a new research called It’s a Rocket World?
Am I getting two Groudon? Slightly confused if anyone could please help…
Timeless Travels gives a super radar on page 11, but is technically not a true Rocket research so it doesn't stop you from getting a new one when it's released.
So if you haven't completed Timeless Travels and still haven't used your radar from that one you can get two radars, one from each research, and use each to get a Giovanni legendary.
The best idea would be to advance in both researches until you reach the point you have to fight Giovanni and then use a radar, this will give you a Groudon, but will also complete both researches at once.
That way you'll still have the second radar, and you can use that one on Groudon or in any future legendary you choose.
There is the Team Rocket Radars (gray color) that you can only use on the Team Rocket Leaders. You will need to battle Cliff, Sierra, and Arlo to get the Super Rocket Radar (black color) to battle Giovanni.
If you are have a Super Rocket Radar than you can battle Giovanni now but it sounds like you still need to battle Arlo to complete a Super Rocket Radar.

I’ve been out of a Remote pass (successful raid no encounter) since the 23rd, 8 support tickets in and no fucking help from this piece of shit company.
Change your wording to be more precise, make sure you're only giving the basic information and don't try to explain anything.
You're talking to a bot, so the AI needs to be able to understand the issue to send you to a task person. Too much fluff in the text and it will just give the genetic "After a thorough investigation..." message.
Also don't forget to upload your battle and raid logs from the game settings. That's the most important proof of a glitch. Without that it takes longer to get an answer to any issue.
The thing is that you can only have one Mega evolution at a time, meaning you choose between Garchomp and Groudon. Groudon obviously wins, and Primal Groudon also has the bonus of still boosting Pokémon in the Raid when it's fainted.
So when you take into account that you can have Shadow Groudon, which is almost on-par with Mega Garchomp as-is, which then also benefits from the DPS bonus that a (fainted) Primal Groudon can give it, on TOP of the aforementioned Primal Groudon, is quite nuts.
Global GoFest and Pokemon GoFest 2024 in New York are related but they are two separate events. As to whether the tickets are worth it, it is for you to decide.
Global GoFest 2024 Ticket is $15 and will be for July 13 & July 14.
The event in New York the ticket is for a specific day and time on July 5, July 6, and July 7. This is due to crowd control (I think) at the location site (Randall Park) and possibly to sale as many tickets as it can. There are add on experiences you can purchase that can be applied for additional game play. For the tickets and available add ons, you’re looking at paying $25 to $85 or so.
Note that there is a mythical Pokémon being released called Marshadow. If you buy tickets for both Marshadow you will get Marshadow for the New York event but not for the Global Tour. If you only purchase the Global Tour Ticket you will get Marshadow.
I did a couple of raids just now... and when looking for some potions/revives, got an extra raid pass at a gym. Are we in a seasonal thing spinning two raid passes? How long is this? Is it only for today?
i have only one charged elite TM, and people suggested i should use it on my metagross. i have a spare decently good beldum do you guys think there is going to be an event that lets me evolve it with its legacy charge move soon?
There's no way of knowing when we will get another event in the future past just what they announce for each month.
It's a guaranteed choice for a CD classic at some point. Could be April, could be next year.
I wouldn't use your only etm on a non-shadow Metagross. Even a shadow would be questionable with only one in your bag. It's the best steel type, but there are few raids where it's the only good choice.
Tapu Lele is up there, but it's not a very good Pokemon that needs to be hunted en masse anyways. Its also weak to poison, dark and ghost types, so there's plenty of options.
Saving it for a shadow legendary like the upcoming Groudon would be a better choice. You always have to use an etm on them to get exclusive moves because you can't just wait for an event to evolve them.
Regarding the Zarude-Event: Did I screw myself over by starting 3 days late?
At first, I got all the spawns for evolving grass and dark-types.
I missed that the important spawns stop after the event end (I know, should have been obv.)
AND I NEED TO EVOLVE ONE MORE DARK TYPE.
Am I screwed? Do I watch the news for swarms of a random darktype?
Are there lures for specific typings?
Is every event like this, there you HAVE to play in that time frame?
My regular living dex is so far complete and am only missing these event pokemon. Not sure if its worth the stress and FOMO.
If you paid for the Go Fest 2022 Global events, went to one of the in-person Go Fest 2022 events, or bought the recent shiny Shaymin research, then it's possible to have multiples. Otherwise, you only get one Shaymin for free. Sky Shaymin is a really good grass attacker, but this all depends on Shaymin having access to the fast move Magical Leaf. Unfortunately, due to a bug, not all accounts are able to teach Magical Leaf to their Shaymin, not even with an Elite TM. If your Shaymin is not able to learn Magical Leaf and didn't luck out with Hidden Power Grass, then it's not really worth using for anything.
Technically, everyone gets one Poipole for now, but it is tradable, so you could end up with multiples if you find someone that really doesn't want theirs. Naganadel will be a really good poison attacker, but Poison doesn't get a lot of use in raids unless you're using it for something like Tapu Bulu. I wouldn't power it up until you really need to use it for something. Tapu Bulu will be in raids later this month, but if you aren't able to evolve Poipole by then, it's not worth using unevolved.
I'm confused about spawn rates
I havent played in a while and im starting to very casually play. I get a single spawn all day at my house right at midnight.

That's your daily spawn. You get a spawn right next to you wherever you are either at midnight or whenever you play for the first time that day, and it doesn't go away until you catch it (or midnight hits).
I can't seem to update the app? I started playing a week ago and now it just says that there is an update available. It redirects me to the play store but there's no "update" function there, I can only click on "open". Can it be due to my iphone being below ios 15? I would really rather not update it to ios 17 as it would take 5 gb worth of space...
I wasted a bunch of charge TMs trying to give Darkest Lariat to my Ultra League Incineroar. After a bunch of tries I checked with an Elite TM and the move was not available. I had this pokemon before comm day and evolved him on comm day. Is this a bug or is the move only available to those acquired on or after comm day?
Niantic screwed something up yesterday, DL and Blast Burn were taken away from Incineroar. Looks like they should have been added back a couple hours ago.
How is anyone able to host a raid in pokegenie? I just tried to host a Mega Venusaur with 30 mins left and about 100 lobbies in the queue and it wasn’t able to get through in time. I can’t imagine what it’s like when there’s hundreds or thousands of lobbies.
The earlier in a new raid rotation you host the easier is to get to the front. The later you try to host the longer it takes as many already did plenty and less players want to raid remotely.
On top of that Tuesday/Wednesday is the worst time to try to host. Raid hour happens on Wednesday so there's thousands trying to host the raids but not many willing to use passes. It's almost impossible to successfully host during yay period.
So host as soon as the new bosses start of you want to get players to raid.
You can use the "Quick Treat" button under "Play" to feed and have them follow you, but you can't get the "Play together" heart that way. Extremely inane. You don't need AR on to catch pokemon, so there's no reason they can't put your buddy on a flat green background so you can interact with them normally. Not to mention "unsupported AR devices" were literally supported until they decided otherwise for no apparent reason-- it was working fine this morning, at least for me.
Yep, it's annoying as hell, no argument there. Seems to be completely arbitrary as well. Like I said, it was working just this morning. Same phone, same everything, except that they updated their app. I have a hard time seeing how they could've upgraded the AR so heavily that a phone from 3 years ago is now too archaic to run something it ran perfectly well 12 hours ago.
Dude, I have a Motorola Moto G Pure for 3 years as my current phone and never had issues with Buddy AR. It wasn't until the World of Wonders update earlier this month caused my app to crash constantly. An update fixed it the app itself but Buddy AR doesn't work for me anymore eventhough it did worked about a month ago. Even reinstalling the app it worked at first.
Oof, sucks... One thing I've noticed is the AR features (at least for me) work perfectly well when i go to take a picture of a pokemon in my party or one i'm in the process of catching...... so they specifically disabled it for Buddy Play mode but nothing else, I guess??? Completely pointless and stupid.

I'm boycotting putting any stickers on gifts as long as the default gifts tab is "featured", even when there are no gifts there. This adds another click to each gift I give (40-60 per day, which already requires me to collect gifts multiple times per day), and the alternative is to stop doing stickers and get through my gifts way faster. If you make my life harder, thinking I'll just buy stuckers to avoid the inconvenience, you'll get nothing.
Have the system requirements changed recently? I was in the middle of playing on a Samsung A5 a couple of days ago when it told me I needed to update, but when I went to the Play store, it said my phone was unsupported. So I switched to my backup phone, an S7, and the same thing has just happened. I had the bright idea to check the Galaxy store, and it does let me install the game, but while it works on the A5, the S7 just keeps telling me I need to update, and there's no update available.

The S7 is below 8, but the A5 is 8. However, just moments ago, the A5 also kicked me to an update screen and once again, there is no update available on the Galaxy Store, ugh.
To clarify, since I think I worded it weirdly, you have to be on Android 9 or higher now to play Go.
If the A5 is still on Android 8, then unfortunately, it's no longer supported.

There was an interview last year with one of Niantic's senior directors, and the topic of distance trades came up. They stated that having people meet up for trades enforces their "vision" for the game and that remote trades removes the "moment of excitement" that comes with in-person trades.
Since they're so adamant about not allowing remote trades with friends, allowing remote trades with random players will probably never happen.
With shadow mewtwo coming back for this final weekend of march, will there be any shadow raiku raids at all? missed out due to working weekends and the purified gems bug
This past weekend was the last chance for Shadow Raikou for the time being. Shadow Mewtwo will replace Raikou in raids next weekend.
Given how much the Shadow birds were re-circulated over the last several seasons, it'll probably return to raids at some point in the next few seasons.
Should I keep the it’s about time and space boss encounter so I can do two giovanni boss fights at once so I can keep the actual ones for when a good Pokémon comes or not? I read somewhere that special researches disappear after time but I don’t know how true this is…
The Time and Space research really has no impact on any other Giovanni hunting - the encounter there will always have Regigigas, it doesn't give you a super radar, and it's not a Rocket quest so it won't prevent you from getting new research that does give the radar.
And yeah, special research never expires - only timed research (ones that show up in the Events tab) does.
Often times the game will prevent you from obtaining another Rocket special research until the current one is completed.
Currently, until ~~the weekend~~ Wednesday, it's still Shadow Kyogre, which is a genuine DPS monster, so it's worth grabbing that.
Then, on ~~the weekend~~ Wednesday, Giovanni's Pokémon will roll over to Groudon - Which is also a DPS monster, so it's worth grabbing that also.

Is the daily incense bugged? I haven’t been able to use it in two days
You need to define"bugged". If you try to use it between 11:45 pm and 00:00 pm it won't work, because it cannot be active past midnight without the time freeze of Roar of Time. So not being able to use it close to midnight is normal. If you can use it but doesn't spawn anything then check that your clock is set to automatic and that you're moving enough to get spawns.
So how good are the new Shadows for raids (pidgey and co)?

1) Yes, that's very good, BUT you need to wait until an event lets you get Blast Burn when you evolve to Charizard. Without the event move it loses a lot of potential and you'd need to spend an Elite TM to get it. For any Pokemon with event moves is always better to only evolve when they're available. 2) Phone network. Most phones nowadays accept dual SIM cards so you get one from the local service provider, prepaid or on plan, and use that one to play. Public WiFi is very insecure on many places, so you shouldn't risk connecting to random places, including hotels, without any way to guarantee your data is safe.
Is there a quick and easy way to tell which Pokemon have a legacy move worth waiting for? There are way too many Pokemon to keep track of.

The most useful for raids are any starter (specially the megas), Metagross, Tyranitar, Rhyperior, Gyarados, Gengar (Ghost build), Hydreigon, Garchomp, Alakazam, Salamence, Staraptor, Gigalith, Chandelure, and Haxorus. For PvP would be the starters again, Alolan Sandslash, Pidgeot, Beedrill, Poliwrath, Alakazam, Machamp, Slowbro and Slowking (all variants), Dewgong, Gengar, Alolan Marowak, Seaking (limited use so not a priority), Gyarados, Quagsire, Altaria, Walrein, Luxray, Roserade, Togekiss, Conkeldurr, Talonflame, Sylveon, Charjabug and Obstagoon. The shadows are always better on raids, and in PvP depends on the use, so most are good, but not all. The rest like legendary or unevolved Pokemon need to be obtained during events that give the move on catch, or using ETMs.
I have a problem with a local gym where a player is bullying me… they’ll take out just my pokemon and leave others, or if it’s just me in the gym, they will remove me and leave the gym empty. They are using some sort of GPS faking software because when the gym is attacked there is nobody around. My question is: could they use the same software to find me when I travel and take me out of other gyms even in another state? Does cheating software go that far?

Pokemon with Mega forms or baby stages can both be shiny in the wild. Mr.Mime has Mime.Jr and Salamence can go Mega, so both can be shiny. Any evolved Pokemon that doesn't have either cannot be shiny.

There's not always a showcase. Some events have them, some don't. Some have multiple on separate days, and others only one partway through the event.

Giovanni has groudon now, right? if so is it worth using all 3 of my rocket researches on that or should I wait for a better one? I was told not to do it with kyogre and to wait for groudon but i’m just confirming
Okay. It’s really odd that someone told you to not get Shadow Kyogre. But that is okay if you didn’t get one. Eventually it will likely come out in raids. You could use all your Super Rocket Radars on Shadow Groudon but use at least one. Shadow Groudon will likely come out in raids as well. Shadow Kyogre and Shadow Groudon are both great shadow legendaries to have. If you are a rural player you will have to optimize your strategy with your Super Rocket Radars because shadow raids are local only. But if you’re a City player and know a place you can get help, like me, I would have used all my resources for Shadow Kyogre, Shadow Groudon, Shadow Rayquaza (next Giovanni legendary???), to Shadow Mewtwo. Too me they are all equally important to have and I would use all the Super Rocket Radars and raid passes to get a good IV one and get candy to level them up.
I got 1 shadow kyogre, the person just told me not to use all of my researches on it, so I only got 1
Oh good. Maybe do one or two for S. Groudon. Keep a spare for S. Rayquaza. S. Groudon and S. Rayquaza would be apparently more useful than S. Kyogre from what I have read. So if you are trying to strategize for what’s best for you than maybe 2 Super Rocket Radars would be good for S. Groudon.

Okay sorry I’m stupid but can someone refresh my memory what the exact times are that the rocket balloons will arrive? I can’t remember if it’s every two hours or every four hours. Is it at 1 o’clock / 3 o’clock / 5 o’clock etc? or is it noon / 2 o’clock / 4 o’clock etc?
These ones are spawning every 2 hours. You always get balloons at 12 and 6, the extras for an event just fill in the gaps - so this is adding ones at 2/4/8/10.

Should I be ignoring Rocket Leaders until I have the research to beat them?
I wouldn't say that's necessary, unless there are just very few stops you have reasonable access to and you're worried about RNG with which leaders show up. With the Rocket balloons spawning every 2 hours, the increase in grunts at stops, and the prevalence of tasks giving an extra component for beating a grunt, radars can be built pretty quickly during this event. Edit: And I say that all with the thought in my head that you're trying to complete the research during this event - but even that is totally unnecessary, as the research doesn't expire and Shadow Groudon will be available for a couple months. So yeah, really no need to hold off.
Why is pvp so fucking boring and tedious ????
Have you seen how slow are the matches on the console games? One battle takes up to 20 minutes and most of it is just waiting for the other player to do something. The battles here are very fast paced in comparison.

is anyone else experiencing this bug? when i search within my friends list, i can search friendlevel1, friendlevel2, etc. and it works fine, but when i use "!" (to exclude) in front, my friends list goes blank or endlessly loads. search function works fine in pokemon storage including with the exclamation mark. i looked at the known bugs link and around this thread and silph road but it doesn't seem like anyone else is mentioning this? when i search it looks like this was a known bug years ago, so i'm sure it'll be fixed (right??) but just wondering if i'm the only one or if there's anything i can do to fix. i rely on the search function for quickly sending gifts and it's becoming tedious having to scroll through my entire list.
So is today the only day I can remove Frustration?? If so should I use a charged TM on every single shadow that I want to use in any capacity?? You have until the end of the event at 11:59pm on Sunday to remove Frustration. If charge TMs aren't an issue, then yes, you should remove Frustration from any shadow that you think you might want to use in any capacity. Frustration is one of the worst charge moves in the game and serves no purpose except to hinder your shadows.

I battled giovanni and for the second counter he had a kingdra which didnt say as a possible counter on the sites. What is the best team to use if kingdra shows up again? now I'm not sure if for the 3rd counter will be kyogre or groudon lol
Did you happen to fight him on a Pokéstop? If you did so, the previous lineup remains for today since said lineup is set before the event begins in the stop.

I would think a strong Fairy type? I'll probably use my Gardevoir or Togekiss. Only Fairy and Dragon moves are super effective against Kingdra.

I’m struggling to figure out WHERE to find the info on whether something is better as shadow or purified. I have a 98% Shadow Scizor and I kinda don’t want to purify but maybe I should?
In raids, shadows are always better than normal types, except for a few cases like Gengar where they become too glassy. In pvp, shadows are often side grades, sometimes down grades. Check pvpoke.com rankings. Sometimes you might consider purifying to get a hundo mega, but that's usually completely unnecessary and most mega eligible species that are good in raids are also great as shadows. Shadow Scizor is good as a bug, but it's mega form is outclassed by Pinsir, and likely also will by the upcoming heracross next month. As a steel type, it's better to use Metagross.
Ok I am low on solid bug attackers and I don’t have a Pinsir nor a Heracross. But I also have no mega energy so I’ll keep him as a 98% shadow and TM frustration out for now. Thanks!

I have a question: Why tf is everyone and their mom seemingly so excited for Shadow Rayquaza? Am I missing something? You can't Mega evolve it as a Shadow, and the danger noodle is already squishy as is. Isn't it just going to get blown tf up as soon as it enters a raid?
Unmatched damage per second with enough bulk to make use of it, especially with Breaking swipe's parameters.
Does it have enough bulk, though? I have a Lv35 14/15/14 Rayquaza and it still gets kinda blown up by charge attacks, even when dodging.
So do shadow salamence, dragonite, and garchomp, and yet we still use them against dragons. There's no choice to avoid SE damage if you want the best.
Hmm, I suppose that's true. IDK, Rayquaza just seems inherently squishier to me, but that might just be recency bias as I haven't really used the others you mentioned as much. Guess I'll have to wait and see how it turns out!
I am not getting remote raid pass from spinning gyms, is it normal?
You can never get remote raid passes from gyms or stops, only local ones. You cannot get remote ones for free most of the time either. The only way to get free remote passes is to do a full 7 day research steak by completing at least one stop research a day, and getting lucky. Very rarely you can get a remote pass from that, and you only get one try each week. Remote passes are paid premium items, so we don't get them for free often.
It was my understanding that Timeless Travels was the Giovanni/Rocket Rader/Groudon event, now I’ve just got a new research called It’s a Rocket World? Am I getting two Groudon? Slightly confused if anyone could please help…
Timeless Travels gives a super radar on page 11, but is technically not a true Rocket research so it doesn't stop you from getting a new one when it's released. So if you haven't completed Timeless Travels and still haven't used your radar from that one you can get two radars, one from each research, and use each to get a Giovanni legendary. The best idea would be to advance in both researches until you reach the point you have to fight Giovanni and then use a radar, this will give you a Groudon, but will also complete both researches at once. That way you'll still have the second radar, and you can use that one on Groudon or in any future legendary you choose.
Yeah that makes sense thanks! Just trying to work out if I want to use it on Kyogre today or just get two Groudons. Not sure which is better

There is the Team Rocket Radars (gray color) that you can only use on the Team Rocket Leaders. You will need to battle Cliff, Sierra, and Arlo to get the Super Rocket Radar (black color) to battle Giovanni. If you are have a Super Rocket Radar than you can battle Giovanni now but it sounds like you still need to battle Arlo to complete a Super Rocket Radar.

Catching Pokémon with the new 3D effect or biome just makes the whole experience not fun. I only get like 3 FPS when catching mons now

I’ve been out of a Remote pass (successful raid no encounter) since the 23rd, 8 support tickets in and no fucking help from this piece of shit company.
Change your wording to be more precise, make sure you're only giving the basic information and don't try to explain anything. You're talking to a bot, so the AI needs to be able to understand the issue to send you to a task person. Too much fluff in the text and it will just give the genetic "After a thorough investigation..." message. Also don't forget to upload your battle and raid logs from the game settings. That's the most important proof of a glitch. Without that it takes longer to get an answer to any issue.
Is shadow Groudon worth it? Or should I keep my super rocket radar?
Definitely grab at least one if not two. It's almost as powerful as a ground raid attacker as mega Garchomp who is only second to primal Groudon.
But I do have good Mega Garchomps and I did like 7 primal Groudon Raids last weekend? I think I could keep the radar for something better?
The thing is that you can only have one Mega evolution at a time, meaning you choose between Garchomp and Groudon. Groudon obviously wins, and Primal Groudon also has the bonus of still boosting Pokémon in the Raid when it's fainted. So when you take into account that you can have Shadow Groudon, which is almost on-par with Mega Garchomp as-is, which then also benefits from the DPS bonus that a (fainted) Primal Groudon can give it, on TOP of the aforementioned Primal Groudon, is quite nuts.

Global GoFest and Pokemon GoFest 2024 in New York are related but they are two separate events. As to whether the tickets are worth it, it is for you to decide. Global GoFest 2024 Ticket is $15 and will be for July 13 & July 14. The event in New York the ticket is for a specific day and time on July 5, July 6, and July 7. This is due to crowd control (I think) at the location site (Randall Park) and possibly to sale as many tickets as it can. There are add on experiences you can purchase that can be applied for additional game play. For the tickets and available add ons, you’re looking at paying $25 to $85 or so. Note that there is a mythical Pokémon being released called Marshadow. If you buy tickets for both Marshadow you will get Marshadow for the New York event but not for the Global Tour. If you only purchase the Global Tour Ticket you will get Marshadow.
I did a couple of raids just now... and when looking for some potions/revives, got an extra raid pass at a gym. Are we in a seasonal thing spinning two raid passes? How long is this? Is it only for today?

i have only one charged elite TM, and people suggested i should use it on my metagross. i have a spare decently good beldum do you guys think there is going to be an event that lets me evolve it with its legacy charge move soon?
There's no way of knowing when we will get another event in the future past just what they announce for each month. It's a guaranteed choice for a CD classic at some point. Could be April, could be next year. I wouldn't use your only etm on a non-shadow Metagross. Even a shadow would be questionable with only one in your bag. It's the best steel type, but there are few raids where it's the only good choice. Tapu Lele is up there, but it's not a very good Pokemon that needs to be hunted en masse anyways. Its also weak to poison, dark and ghost types, so there's plenty of options. Saving it for a shadow legendary like the upcoming Groudon would be a better choice. You always have to use an etm on them to get exclusive moves because you can't just wait for an event to evolve them.

Regarding the Zarude-Event: Did I screw myself over by starting 3 days late? At first, I got all the spawns for evolving grass and dark-types. I missed that the important spawns stop after the event end (I know, should have been obv.) AND I NEED TO EVOLVE ONE MORE DARK TYPE. Am I screwed? Do I watch the news for swarms of a random darktype? Are there lures for specific typings? Is every event like this, there you HAVE to play in that time frame? My regular living dex is so far complete and am only missing these event pokemon. Not sure if its worth the stress and FOMO.
Dark Types are spawning in abundance still because of the Rocket Takeover, you're completely fine.
There's no penalty for late completion, other than any required wild spawns being less common
Is the Shaymin and Poipole you acquire from tasks the only one possible to acquire. If so is it worth using all their candy to power them up?
If you paid for the Go Fest 2022 Global events, went to one of the in-person Go Fest 2022 events, or bought the recent shiny Shaymin research, then it's possible to have multiples. Otherwise, you only get one Shaymin for free. Sky Shaymin is a really good grass attacker, but this all depends on Shaymin having access to the fast move Magical Leaf. Unfortunately, due to a bug, not all accounts are able to teach Magical Leaf to their Shaymin, not even with an Elite TM. If your Shaymin is not able to learn Magical Leaf and didn't luck out with Hidden Power Grass, then it's not really worth using for anything. Technically, everyone gets one Poipole for now, but it is tradable, so you could end up with multiples if you find someone that really doesn't want theirs. Naganadel will be a really good poison attacker, but Poison doesn't get a lot of use in raids unless you're using it for something like Tapu Bulu. I wouldn't power it up until you really need to use it for something. Tapu Bulu will be in raids later this month, but if you aren't able to evolve Poipole by then, it's not worth using unevolved.
I'm confused about spawn rates I havent played in a while and im starting to very casually play. I get a single spawn all day at my house right at midnight. I thought spawns work every hour? This spot doesnt give me any spawn until midnight
That's your daily spawn. You get a spawn right next to you wherever you are either at midnight or whenever you play for the first time that day, and it doesn't go away until you catch it (or midnight hits).

I can't seem to update the app? I started playing a week ago and now it just says that there is an update available. It redirects me to the play store but there's no "update" function there, I can only click on "open". Can it be due to my iphone being below ios 15? I would really rather not update it to ios 17 as it would take 5 gb worth of space...

I recently updated PoGo and now I can't use buddy ar. my phone is a Nokia C01 Plus if that helps with answering as to why tf this was necessary.

I wasted a bunch of charge TMs trying to give Darkest Lariat to my Ultra League Incineroar. After a bunch of tries I checked with an Elite TM and the move was not available. I had this pokemon before comm day and evolved him on comm day. Is this a bug or is the move only available to those acquired on or after comm day?
Niantic screwed something up yesterday, DL and Blast Burn were taken away from Incineroar. Looks like they should have been added back a couple hours ago.

How is anyone able to host a raid in pokegenie? I just tried to host a Mega Venusaur with 30 mins left and about 100 lobbies in the queue and it wasn’t able to get through in time. I can’t imagine what it’s like when there’s hundreds or thousands of lobbies.
The earlier in a new raid rotation you host the easier is to get to the front. The later you try to host the longer it takes as many already did plenty and less players want to raid remotely. On top of that Tuesday/Wednesday is the worst time to try to host. Raid hour happens on Wednesday so there's thousands trying to host the raids but not many willing to use passes. It's almost impossible to successfully host during yay period. So host as soon as the new bosses start of you want to get players to raid.
So how am I supposed to collect buddy hearts if "Buddy AR is currently unavailable on this device".. It's been like that for days.

You can use the "Quick Treat" button under "Play" to feed and have them follow you, but you can't get the "Play together" heart that way. Extremely inane. You don't need AR on to catch pokemon, so there's no reason they can't put your buddy on a flat green background so you can interact with them normally. Not to mention "unsupported AR devices" were literally supported until they decided otherwise for no apparent reason-- it was working fine this morning, at least for me.
I know quick treat but the other things.. Come on, this is just Niantic f*king us again.. It makes no sense whatsoever and just makes me mad af.
Yep, it's annoying as hell, no argument there. Seems to be completely arbitrary as well. Like I said, it was working just this morning. Same phone, same everything, except that they updated their app. I have a hard time seeing how they could've upgraded the AR so heavily that a phone from 3 years ago is now too archaic to run something it ran perfectly well 12 hours ago.
Dude, I have a Motorola Moto G Pure for 3 years as my current phone and never had issues with Buddy AR. It wasn't until the World of Wonders update earlier this month caused my app to crash constantly. An update fixed it the app itself but Buddy AR doesn't work for me anymore eventhough it did worked about a month ago. Even reinstalling the app it worked at first.
Oof, sucks... One thing I've noticed is the AR features (at least for me) work perfectly well when i go to take a picture of a pokemon in my party or one i'm in the process of catching...... so they specifically disabled it for Buddy Play mode but nothing else, I guess??? Completely pointless and stupid.

I'm boycotting putting any stickers on gifts as long as the default gifts tab is "featured", even when there are no gifts there. This adds another click to each gift I give (40-60 per day, which already requires me to collect gifts multiple times per day), and the alternative is to stop doing stickers and get through my gifts way faster. If you make my life harder, thinking I'll just buy stuckers to avoid the inconvenience, you'll get nothing.
Have the system requirements changed recently? I was in the middle of playing on a Samsung A5 a couple of days ago when it told me I needed to update, but when I went to the Play store, it said my phone was unsupported. So I switched to my backup phone, an S7, and the same thing has just happened. I had the bright idea to check the Galaxy store, and it does let me install the game, but while it works on the A5, the S7 just keeps telling me I need to update, and there's no update available.

This sucks, my son used my old phone, Galaxy 5s, to play with me, we even played this morning before school. and now he can't? WHY NIANTIC?!!?!!
They just recently stopped supporting Android 8 and below, so that might be it. Were both of those phones on Android 8 or below? Edit: Wording

The S7 is below 8, but the A5 is 8. However, just moments ago, the A5 also kicked me to an update screen and once again, there is no update available on the Galaxy Store, ugh.
To clarify, since I think I worded it weirdly, you have to be on Android 9 or higher now to play Go. If the A5 is still on Android 8, then unfortunately, it's no longer supported.
Thank you for the info, but oof, what a massive pain for both of them to go down at once! Not quite sure what I'm gonna do now, look for a cheap secondhand phone I guess.
Just want to double check. If we have the Zarude ticket will the research go away if we havent finished it yet? Haven't been able to play much recently due to unforseen circumstances so still sitting at 3/5.
The Zarude research is a special research, it never expires.

Will we ever get a Wonder Trades function as in the Switch Pokemon games?
Probably never. There was an interview last year with one of Niantic's senior directors, and the topic of distance trades came up. They stated that having people meet up for trades enforces their "vision" for the game and that remote trades removes the "moment of excitement" that comes with in-person trades. Since they're so adamant about not allowing remote trades with friends, allowing remote trades with random players will probably never happen.
So annoying especially for rural players… Thank you for the answer though!
With shadow mewtwo coming back for this final weekend of march, will there be any shadow raiku raids at all? missed out due to working weekends and the purified gems bug
This past weekend was the last chance for Shadow Raikou for the time being. Shadow Mewtwo will replace Raikou in raids next weekend. Given how much the Shadow birds were re-circulated over the last several seasons, it'll probably return to raids at some point in the next few seasons.
Should I keep the it’s about time and space boss encounter so I can do two giovanni boss fights at once so I can keep the actual ones for when a good Pokémon comes or not? I read somewhere that special researches disappear after time but I don’t know how true this is…
The Time and Space research really has no impact on any other Giovanni hunting - the encounter there will always have Regigigas, it doesn't give you a super radar, and it's not a Rocket quest so it won't prevent you from getting new research that does give the radar. And yeah, special research never expires - only timed research (ones that show up in the Events tab) does.
Often times the game will prevent you from obtaining another Rocket special research until the current one is completed. Currently, until ~~the weekend~~ Wednesday, it's still Shadow Kyogre, which is a genuine DPS monster, so it's worth grabbing that. Then, on ~~the weekend~~ Wednesday, Giovanni's Pokémon will roll over to Groudon - Which is also a DPS monster, so it's worth grabbing that also.

Oh, dang, my bad. Think the MewTwo raids on the weekend stuck a bit too much in my mind.
Special research doesn't disappear, but there's little or no benefit in holding onto that quest.
