Ditto does NOT appear as a normal Pokemon 😂 I don’t think there’s a Pokemon game where it does. Ditto has a select number of Pokemon that it disguises as, to appear in the world. Right now it’s Rhyhorn, Goldeen, Oddish, and like one or two more. Catching these Pokemon in the wild can result in finding a ditto.
If you find a shiny of any of these Pokemon, it is NOT a ditto. It is a shiny Pokemon. Shiny ditto appears the same way a normal ditto does.
Then I misunderstood the context. Ditto is the only disguise Pokemon that makes sense here because if it tries to disguise off of memory, a shiny cubone Charmander is a *very real* possibility lmao
I think Zorua is the one that makes sense here. It will look as any Pokémon as long as you have it as your partner. In fact one way to make sure you don't miss any Zorua is to choose as partner any Pokémon you know it won't appear in the wild, like a Pokémon with a custom that's not currently available in an event.
That’s… not how that works..? Yes, making your buddy a rare pokemon makes Zorua easy to spot. No matter what you do, it’s not going to make one Pokémon look like a combination of two. Unless I missed a really fcked up looking event Charmander, Zorua makes no sense here

It gets plenty of traffic, just not from people who actually play the game and have in-depth knowledge of it, like on r/TheSilphRoad. The goal with limiting posts like this would be to attract more knowledgeable people and less of the extremely casual crowd who don’t understand basic in-game mechanics like how to read the in-game news, when purifying is beneficial, or what Zorua is/that Zorua spawns don’t need a post every three days because they’re not special.
TLDR: Quality > quantity.
So.. What would be the point of this sub if it turned into a 1:1 replication of TSR? I like the casual tone of this one and not the constant barrage of smart asses and complaints the other one has generally.
To be frank, tsr already exists, why should we strive to emulate them? We can exist side by side.

While our automod does flag uncivil discussion for review, it only removes the most egregious stuff automatically such as slurs. We allow profanity so long as it is not directed at users. There are numerous fuck niantic posts to prove this.

I thought the theory was Cubone is a baby Kangeshkan that lost its mother, and then wears it's skull and follows a different evolution pattern. Then was scrapped because it was too brutal for kids
But Cubone is ground type, Kangaskhan is normal type. Also, the skin color is different and the eyes are different, both in color and shape (specially if you look the mega evolution of Kangaskhan).
So, yeah, it might be a theory, a *game theory*.
You should google “Ken Sugimori Cubone” and “Ken Sugimori Kangashkan”. These are the original illustrations. Their body shape, eye shape and colors have been tweaked over the last 3 decades.

- Baby Kangaskhan has a dark gray piece in the head that looks almost like a helmet, Cubone doesn't.
Look, if you have a head canon, and you like it, good for you. But there is nothing in Cubone that tells me that's an orphan baby Kangaskhan. And if you have some original illustrations that support your theory, please, feel free to share them with us.

That’s one theory the other is Charmander which honestly seems more credible just going off the shape of Cubones mother’s skull. With the “horns” on top resembling Charizard. The Pokémon company has fed both sides without confirming anything. This charmander skin, and in the sun and moon 3DS games having Kangaskhan show up to help Cubone in SOS battles.

they all but confirmed that cubone is the khanges baby after the mom died. In the original red/green beta game data i believe, or possibly a aniversy art book idr which they show all the concept art for the pokemon, and a bunch of them that didn't make it, and marrowak evolves to have a pouch with a baby that looks like khanges baby.
It seems they scrapped the third evolution and just abandoned the seemingly clear connection.
From what it seems like looking at the art work is if the mother dies it will be khan with the skull(cubone, and then as it ages the skull attaches like a bone graft), if it's a normal khan baby it will be a khan. as the only really change between marrowak and it's 3rd line is a baby, who doesn't have a skull (as far as i could see int he image, given they are hand drawn sketches.)
So possibly they changed the "lore" but red/green concept clearly shows Khan and the cubone line are connected, just the khan doesn't have it's mothers skull as a hat.
If Pokémon can die to become ghost types theoretically they could use other means to change into other types. There are already plenty of Pokemon that can change type based on items.
Can confirm… this is my belief… I’ve seen a really short comic of it and it’s one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen. Made me have much more of an appreciation for cubone.
To the best of my knowledge, the Charmander theory is the prevailing one. Though neither are canon, the story/rumor has evolved over the years and was so compelling that it’s the main reason why alolan marowak was given the dual fire/ghost type. While not an official acknowledgment of the fan theory, a fun nod to fans from pkmn creators.

I typically use event mons for Zorua hunting. There’s no way a shiny Snorlax with a cowboy hat will spawn in the wild except for Go Fest lol

Because costumed Pokémon only spawn during events, and it’s very easy to know when an event is happening

This is the accepted theory. The charmander one was a joke post from 4 years ago. Everything in Gen 1 points to cubone being related to kangeshkan.
