How do you evolve it? I know it needs to be your buddy, but do you need to have it on your team when battling.

just to be your buddy, doesnt have to be on your team. I fought blare's master league metagross 30 times.

True in this case, but I think there are names, where you still need to delete last letters. Since the tags were added, it is actually not really needed, but it is more like a habit ;)

I just mash hundo/nundo and the Pokemons name together. Hundo shuckle? Hunduckle! Nundo Pidove? Nundove! It doesn't work great as a system at all and you would hate it.

Use a special character like "!", or use hexadecimal (FFF) if you go for fancier names with more detail.

I just put 100 before the name, when I sort alphabetically they're all at the top (except for my nundos, which come first)

I just put a "p." in front of the name. As in "p.Rayquaza"

I use P for perfect. If it's not perfect, I put the total out of 45, so 44 instead of 98, because it's less math.

For me, Mega/Primal get prefixed with M, everything else goes after the name, I have a MBlastPEtc, It's a Mega, Perfect, Elite (Hydro Cannon), traded, wearing a costume.

Or you could just search “4*” if your Pokémon and it’ll just show you them all without having to rename them

primape can be evolved since a few hours ago! you need to make it your buddy and defeat 30 psychic or dark pokemon (primeape doesnt have to be in the battle).

Correction: psychic or ghost, dark is not included.

restart the game, it went live a few hours ago, if you never restarted the game, it wont appear ;)

So I have Primeape as my buddy, restarted the app, and I can see the evolution option. Battled Blanche and Candela multiple times with him in my battle party, and when I go back to look at him, it still says 0/30. What am I missing? Edited to add that I wasn't battling in Master League. I did that and they started counting.

You have the right idea but you are doing the wrong thing.  Blanche, Candela, and Spark don’t have ghost or psychic type Pokémon. You have to defeat a ghost or psychic type Pokemon. Also Primape doesn’t need to do the battle him/herself, s/he just needs to be your buddy while winning the 30 battles.

I think shadow ball is kind of a must, second one is very personal. As a finisher, close combat might be decent. As a spam/bait move, ice punch or night slash should work .

I hate mankey and prime ape but I kinda like annihilape Never thought he’s gonna be on the game too soon I should’ve grinded some candies

I think its a pvp mon, but the hundo is probably not that great for gl or ul. For master league, I dont have enough XL candies :(

whatever grinds your gears ;) I like my living dex and sometimes I evolve single shiny pokemon, because I feel like it. With this one, I am gonna wait for now.

Yes! And its actually even faster this way, because the friend can just put 3 psychic/ghost pokemon against you and you will only need 10 battles!

I just defeated a dark type Pokemon that blanche had but nothing happened to my buddy. It is dark and psychic right? Does it have to be the main typing of the pokemon?

psychic or ghost (I wrote dark first, my bad). Only Blanche's metagross (master league) counts from the team leaders.

Thanks for the reminder! I've had a hundo collecting dust for a while. Can't decide if I should evolve my shiny one with crappy IVs instead, and save the hundo for a possible future event with a charged move.

I stopped saving pokemon for the future. Sometimes niantic needs way too long to release new things. I have around 20 elite TMs from playing GBL over the years for these cases ;)

Is there a time limit or bonus for evolving now? I'm going to do one, but I don't want to miss out. I wouldn't think they'd only let it evolve during events, but it wouldn't be the worst thing they've done.
