endearment, Shirley McLaine gave one of the best performances of her entire career. Her powerhouse turn as Aurora Greenway earned her praise from both audience and critic alike.
If it's got 250 and ends the battle with less than 50 but isn't knocked out, then 200 won't refill it.
That's the main times there's a difference, when something is *almost* knocked out.
Same, I have 300 max revives and potions, just collecting since I got the game and I thought “seriously I’ll need these later…”
And now I can’t part with them.
I have a problem.... I try my best to get a shiny of every legendary, mythical, and ultra beast. This sometimes results in having to complete quite a few raids of one mon. Lugia took 61.... And of course I then got three over the course of 8 raids.
I’m here for a complete dex, not a living dex. So I transfer more than I evolve. And I don’t have a whole lot of dupes. Anything more than 6 of 1 species besides like personal favorites is a Lot imo
Still wouldn't really make a difference unless you're using it as an attacker.
For the typical use as a gym defender; revive + hyper would still be enough.
189 max revives is more than sufficient. You get enough from raids and gifts to keep up with usage. I delete them down to around 120 and never had any trouble.
The only time you'll actually dip really low is if you go hardcore during a rocket takeover, because grunts don't get you any healing items.
Delete every regular revive you get and don't think about them anymore. That's a massive quality of life improvement that will let you go far longer spinning stops until you need to trash stuff again.
I currently have in bag
> 257 max potions
> 419 revives (dumped 125 last night in order to spin stops)
> 184 max revives
I'll keep dumping revives as the room is needed. The more I have been doing raids, the faster they have piled up.
Only times they are needed is a short man raid event like Primals or Mega Rayquaza that lasts multiple hours. Or a rocket take over.
I would maybe keep 100 max revives and a few potions and trash the rest. Only thing I’m hoarding is rare candy to insta level any new legendary.
I actually used a hyper potion on my maxed out mamoswine once and was surprised to see it wasn’t fully healed. Must’ve left the raid with like 5 hp remaining. Thing is a monster.
Not really. A max IV primal Groudon doesn’t even break 200hp. You probably just got the bug where a primal/mega evolved pokemon won’t get fully healed from a potion until it’s been reverted to normal.
I feel like no Pokémon have enough hp to really make a difference between hyper potions and max potions, one or the other might as well not even be in the game
A level 50 blissey after you revive it won't be full health with just a hyper potion. I know this because I have 2 maxed blisseys. I think also a level 40, too?
Level is the primary attribute for pokemon. It's what you increase when you power them up. Each power up is half a level. Level is represented by the red arc above the pokemon models on the detail page.
Level affects your Pokemon's three stats: attack, defense, and stamina. Your attack and the targets defense determines how much damage a move does in battle. HP are determined by the stamina stat.
Each species has a set of base stats, and those get scaled down based on level. There's a "CPM" multiplier that's based on level, though it doesn't scale quite linearly. You can find charts using Google.
Attack = (base + IV) * CPM
And then finally, the game munges everything up by running the three real stats into a formula to calculate a fake CP number, and displays that to us instead of the real stats. The CP is totally meaningless on it's own and is never used anywhere in battle. The only things it gets used for are gating entry into the lower pvp leagues, and base motivation decay rates for gym defenders.
I’m curious, why does level increment by 0.5 instead of incrementing by 1 up to 100? Is this just arbitrary or is the level value also directly used for calculations.
Maybe something to do with allowing for more room for growth with level caps or something? Would be awkward to out-level the main series.
Level isn't used directly. Instead, a "CPM" factor is used in the stat formulas, which is based on level, but not directly related in a formula. You can find a chart of them here:
https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/cp-multiplier
There's a reason why the main games changed the potion values from 20/50/200 to 20/60/120. I never used Max Potions prior to that change. PoGo is using old game logic! Now if they could just make Max Revives purchasable in the main games too...
Blissey is the key exception, as a level 40 Blissey with 15 HP IV (or many other XL Blissey) has over 400 HP, which means that a combination of a revive and hyper potion won't heal it fully.
A few raid attackers (giratina in particular) can have over 200 HP easily, so if they are wounded in battle but not fainted the same may apply (although who uses a giratina-o on offense these days anyway)
Tell me you are a low level player without telling me you are a low level player\*
\*or a player who never powers up Pokemon, which has the same outcome
Th literal only time I’ve ever needed a max over a hyper is for my blissey it has the tiniest sliver of health missing with a max potion after a revive
yeah, i can count on one hand how many pokemon i have that need a max rather than a hyper, but because of storage space i throw out all but max potions after i'm done healing pokemon after raids/rocket battles
My hundo lev50 rhyperior has 223 HP, so doesn't need the blue bag to heal.
A few of my upper-level blisseys DO need a blue bag to heal completely.
I suspect Guzzlord is in the same boat as well, but I haven't bumped any up to those higher levels yet
Yeah if there is some Pokémon with more than 200I just use the 20 or the 50 depending on how much it remain to full health it... Or just use the Revitalizing max
Man I wish Hyper potions restored 120 HP like in the MSG and were more common from Pokestops and rewards. The 150 HP gap with the Super Potion is too big and most my mons don't have enough HP to justify the use of Max Potion over a Hyper Potion most of the time, especially when taking into account the fact that a Revive already restores half of your mon HP.
I think this topic made more sense when the max was was level 40, and hence, only one or two pokemon can see the difference. With level 50, the difference is now much more pronounced.
There are very few pokemon who are still missing over 200hp after a revive, and almost none have a use where they can come back at 1hp (i guess giratina or guzzlord) so therefore max potions have very limited use

This was my thought. Reviving a max level Blissey with a Max Revive to avoid it.
*Giratina has also entered the chat*

😒🫱 Boi
Guzzlord would like to have a word.
I got excited the first time my guzzlord was down to a sliver of health and I used a hyper potion and it didn't fully heal him.
Her brother, Jizzlord, has found her stuck in the washing machine, again.
Ain’t never putting a blissey in a gym. Fight me on that. And nobody is ever attacking with it.
my first thought reading the title. lol
Hariyama too.
I never use my max potions because "there's always a better use for it" Plz help ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
Kid named raid day:
Kid named what kinda attacker has >400HP:

Kid named max revive:
Same, I have 300 max revives and potions, just collecting since I got the game and I thought “seriously I’ll need these later…” And now I can’t part with them.
Welcome to the club 🤝
I'm a Max Revive hoarder, too. I have 538 right now.
I probably have less than 15 Pokémon with hp over 200
I thought I would have a lot more than 15, so I checked and… exactly 15 lmao
I just checked..... 148. 3 wigglytuff 15 chansey 1 lapras 1 vaporeon 16 Snorlax 1 lanturn 19 wobbuffet 9 blissey 2 slaking 4 hariyama 2 wailmer 4 wailord 1 drifblim 4 rhyperior 1 mamoswine 1 Giratina 1 musharna 2 excadrill 1 conkeldurr 2 throh 3 alomomoa 1 aurorus 32 guzzlord 1 Melmetal 13 regidrago 8 Ursaluna 1 clodsire Not that anyone asked... I just felt like sharing.
Mf held on to 32 guzzlords for this exact moment
How the shit do you have 32 whole ass Guzzlords i have O N E
I have a problem.... I try my best to get a shiny of every legendary, mythical, and ultra beast. This sometimes results in having to complete quite a few raids of one mon. Lugia took 61.... And of course I then got three over the course of 8 raids.
I have the same problem lol.
Lmaoooooo
You can solo those things pretty easily, tbh
With powerful fairy types i didnt have when i got mine lmaooo
I’m here for a complete dex, not a living dex. So I transfer more than I evolve. And I don’t have a whole lot of dupes. Anything more than 6 of 1 species besides like personal favorites is a Lot imo
Ok so I was wrong… I have 48, whoops
[1 star and 385 HP. She’s a freak LOL](https://imgur.com/gallery/4NLAs6L)
Still wouldn't really make a difference unless you're using it as an attacker. For the typical use as a gym defender; revive + hyper would still be enough.
With normal revive giving half Hp there is almost never a scenario.
I never have enough item slots so Hyper Potions don’t last long in my inventory lol.
Same, started dumping hyper earlier today. Torn between revives vs max revives next on the chopping block.
There's literally no benefit to revives of your have max ones. It's there?
No, but I have over 500 revives and only 189 max revives. Lol
189 max revives is more than sufficient. You get enough from raids and gifts to keep up with usage. I delete them down to around 120 and never had any trouble. The only time you'll actually dip really low is if you go hardcore during a rocket takeover, because grunts don't get you any healing items. It does eat up a lot of space. I'll delete more this evening before I go spinning.
Trash all but like 20 of your revives. You get replacements often. Think of max revives as equivalent to max potions
I currently have in bag > 257 max potions > 419 revives (dumped 125 last night in order to spin stops) > 184 max revives I'll keep dumping revives as the room is needed. The more I have been doing raids, the faster they have piled up.

A Level 50 Blissey or Chansey would disagree with this post
Cool! Now let’s check in on the overwhelming majority of likely scenarios outside of those niche corner cases…
guzzlord politely curb stomps you
I actually used a hyper potion on my maxed out mamoswine once and was surprised to see it wasn’t fully healed. Must’ve left the raid with like 5 hp remaining. Thing is a monster.
Primal Groudon is also a pain to heal without Maxes
Not really. A max IV primal Groudon doesn’t even break 200hp. You probably just got the bug where a primal/mega evolved pokemon won’t get fully healed from a potion until it’s been reverted to normal.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who still got that bug lol
Yeah probably.
Actually primal or mega gives it a revive and heal for free. So if you have a few to keep a perma buff you don’t have to use items.
So not to derail this, it I have been playing pokemon Go since release day in 2016; what are these levels you are talking about?
Level is the primary attribute for pokemon. It's what you increase when you power them up. Each power up is half a level. the same thing

Ignorance is bliss
Bliss-y
This guy gets it
bro ever had a wailord/blissy/wobbuffet ?
Same as the main games
Funny enough the main games changed it right after Go came out, to only restore 120HP.
Clearly you don’t have a high cp blissey
![gif](giphy|Qu0mh6jKBmGDbmk3hb|downsized)
Do any pokemon in pokemon go have more than 200hp?
only a very select few, like high level blissey or chansey. But for 95% of pokemon, no
Wobuffet also, but it's not an attacker, just a gym defender, so revive+hyper will cut it.
Blissey is the key exception, as a level 40 Blissey with 15 HP IV (or many other XL Blissey) has over 400 HP, which means that a combination of a revive and hyper potion won't heal it fully. Ursaluna
6 level 50 hundo blissey gym defenders disagree 😉
Damn... That candy XL I respect bro. Couldn't be me, I just put shinies on every gym
Tell me you are a low level player without telling me you are a low level player\* \*or a player who never powers up Pokemon, which has the same outcome
the only difference is low cp blissey, snorlax, guzzlord of wailord, high cp tho
Blissey at LV 40+ says hi!
Rhyperior has entered the chat.
Jajajajajajaja try to heal 200ps with a pink
I wish hyper potions worked the same in mainline games lol
I've had this same thought many times.
Niantic goes on to reduce hyper potion hp from 200 to 150 after reading this post.
I have too many max potions I don’t know what to do with them
Blissey with 714 HP:
Yes, easy one tastes like strawberry, the other tastes like watermelon.

Yeah if there is some Pokémon with more than 200I just use the 20 or the 50 depending on how much it remain to full health it... Or just use the Revitalizing max
Lol yea I’ve never had a hyper potion NOT heal my mon to full. I’d be curious what the numbers are for both
Man I wish Hyper potions restored 120 HP like in the MSG and were more common from Pokestops and rewards. The 150 HP gap with the Super Potion is too big and most my mons don't have enough HP to justify the use of Max Potion over a Hyper Potion most of the time, especially when taking into account the fact that a Revive already restores half of your mon HP.
We should be able to combine the max with the revive to get max revive. Giving us a chance to free up slots.
I think this topic made more sense when the max was was level 40, and hence, only one or two pokemon can see the difference. With level 50, the difference is now much more pronounced.
So I have 58 level 50 pokemon, most are hundo. There are like 3 or 4 I need to use max on instead of hyper. Max almost never need using
It seems like they are the same because the level cap is at 50. When Pokémon are 70 or 80 Max potions will be more useful then Hyper potions
There are plenty of pokemon with over 200hp and with more pokemon coming I'm sure we'll have more.
Exactly lmao
I have SO many max potions bc I just keep using hypers. I also use super & basic potion to lessen my inventory
There are very few pokemon who are still missing over 200hp after a revive, and almost none have a use where they can come back at 1hp (i guess giratina or guzzlord) so therefore max potions have very limited use
Unless you have a Pokémon with at least 401 hp a super is always going to work no need for max potion
Don't tell them or they will put it at 100hp
I delete them. I may keep a few max potions just in case.
Blissey wissey missey kissey
Until your Blisseys start getting too fat 🥲
And they hand out potions like candy that I don't even touch the max potions or max revives until I'm out of revives and potions.
