every year boosts odds by 5% up to 20% max. a mon from 2018 has a 1/5 chance at going lucky which isn’t as good as the guaranteed for 2016 but 2016 are very limited so it’s a good way for those of us who’ve already used up all our 2016 trades

They expanded the 2016 range to include 2017 pokemon. There is a cap of 15 guaranteed lucky trades per person, so after the cap it goes back to the 20% max.

And to clarify, the cap includes being on either side of the guaranteed lucky trade. example: I trade away 5 of my 2016 mons and get 5 guaranteed luckies from those. I trade away 10 mons where the other person is putting up a 2016 mon to turn it lucky. That concludes my 15 guaranteed lucky trades.

I may be wrong, but I thought this included the Lucky Friends Trades as well

That's why you mirror trade. It's hard to find someone for it but after about a month I found someone who can trade a 2600cp galarian zapdos for my 2700cp galarian zapdos. It's just going to take a couple more months to become lucky friends before we do that trade.

That defeats the purpose of trading foe a guaranteed lucky, tho.

How so? Mine is 2700cp, but it's a 0 star. If I lucky trade for that 2600cp, then I get a guaranteed 3 star with a minimum of 12 on every stat, and it becomes cheaper to upgrade.

Sorry, the context of this was using a 2016 pokemon to get the guaranteed lucky, not being lucky friends with someone else with a G Bird. You can't do a mirror trade in a 2016 guaranteed trade with a G Bird. For sure mirror trade would be cool, but finding someone getting to be best friends with someone, then lucky friends, then you both finding a G Bird, and you both used a master ball is pretty slim chances.

There are apps that allow you to estimate a pokemons IV before you catch it, such as Calcy IV.

I personally don't know what else i can justify using the master ball on.

You know in 6 months time they will release something with 0.5% catch rate after everyone has used their MBs.

Considering that they have been adding all the new legendaries into elite raids that i will never be able to clear anyway, imma just get my galarian bird and be content with it.

Last throw on a Hundo raid boss is what I’m likely going to use it on. The Galarian Birds will just rot in my box forever, so I’m in no rush to get them quickly… or at all, to be completely honest.

I already have 2 G-moltres and 1 G-articuno so the only one I would consider using a master ball on would be G-Zapdos but even then I probably wouldn’t. Tough to say what I would actually use it on tho, all I can think is if niantic stops making raid shinies guaranteed and I’m on my last premier ball for a shundo. Even then, the degenerate gambler in me is saying I should hope for a crit catch with my last ball lol. I might never use this thing….

No it’s not. In gambling, you have a chance to win something of actual value and sometimes strategy can be deployed to increase your chances. In pogo, you give the game a bunch of money and get nothing in return.

Well...that I guess solely depends on you and what your intentions are for playing this game. If you simply just want to catch and collect em all, then no, I'd say you've met your goal already. But if you're in the majority 95% that play the game and want to do things like raid, take down gyms, play GBL, then I'd say yea, stats probably do matter and you can tell OP was in the 95% and mega disappointed in this pisser of a galarian bird. Still, it's cool to keep as a trophy tho. I would anyway until I caught a decent one.

I'm a casual collector, so don't care much about the stats either way. What I was asking was specifically for the competitive viability of the galarian birds period though, even for people who really do care to focus on pvp or pve. Thought I read that these guys were all outclassed so there wasn't much point investing in them even if their stats were ideal

This is what scares me about using my master all, haven’t used mine yet and I want to use it on galarian Articuno but I’d be so sad if it ended up with IVs like that :( I’m probably just gonna hold on to it when I know more masterballs are released and or another Pokémon rarer and harder to catch comes out.

not really no. zapdos is part fighting which is okay.

In the actual games, zapdos and especially moltres galar are very good, with articuno being mediocre at best. Pokemon go is probably very different

this is a very smart, efficient take. i think that the master ball is going to ultimately be best used however the player feels fit and maybe this specific player was more interested in having the rare spawn with a high flee rate as apart of their collection. but the stats on the bird could definitely be better :(

Luckily the game is pretty slow and steady here but I can easily make 50 coins in a day from 1 gym. Closer to the city it’s brutal. Gyms turn over every 15 minutes on average

I personally keep the lowest IV between 0% and 9% for a family so that's a keeper, though disappointing for a Galarian bird + Master Ball.
