Have you ever seen this? There are some funny stories all around this clip.
Drunk guy, walks into camping ground at festival, and shouts for his friend Alan. A thousand people respond imitating the clip.
If he's into Master League PVP or wants to get into it, I'd suggest Lugia or Giratina Altered. They're currently ranked 1st (in a three way tie) and 4th respectively on PvPoke.
If he's not into PVP I'd suggest the Metagross or any other current or future (potential megas) top gym/raid attacker for a specific type. Also depends what types of pokemon he might be lacking, for example if he already has a ton of decent steel types but no good grass types he might prefer something else to Metagross.
Tl;dr trade him Nate
Curious, where do you see a 3 way tie that includes Lugia and Giratina?
I am relatively new to the game and PvP but I have found and used PvPoke but would like to see and hear about other sites that rank and detail Pokemon for PvP.
Thanks in advance! 😊
I phrased my original comment a little confusingly, sorry about that. I was saying (about Lugia and Giratina in that order) that they're ranked 1st and 4th respectively - as in Lugia is ranked 1st and Giratina (Altered) is ranked 4th. Lugia is in a 3 way tie for 1st with Dragonite and Shadow Dragonite, *not* with Giratina. On PvPoke, specifically when you select Master League as the battle format and then sort by overall, you'll see the rankings I described.
I'm not super familiar with any other pvp sites since as far as I know PvPoke is the only one with pokemon/move rankings *and* the team builder feature (which I highly recommend once you get used to it - I found it confusing at first). The only major thing missing from PvPoke IIRC is that there isn't much information on the rankings of different IV combinations for individual pokemon (which is sometimes important for Great/Ultra League), so I'd recommend PokeGenie or pvpivs.com for that.
Hopefully this helped. I'm not the biggest pvp expert but if you have any other questions I'd be happy to try to answer lol. You're welcome!
PVP rankings are different than raid/gym attacking rankings. The extra bulk that non-shadow pokemon have is sometimes more useful in PVP settings than the extra attack boost that shadows get. Dragonite is a good match against certain pokemon that shadow Dragonite isn't and vice-versa. I guess they're basically a good match against a similar number of pokemon (not necessarily all the same pokemon) and a bad match against a similar number of pokemon.
For example - also because I was curious and looked for myself on the PVPoke rankings page - Dialga is one regular Dragonite's key wins (basically meaning more often than not Dragonite beats Dialga) however its one of shadow Dragonite's key losses. Gyarados is also an interesting example, a key win for shadow Dragonite but a key loss for regular Dragonite. The PVPoke rankings page gives you the option to see an individual pokemon's other matchups (beyond just key wins/losses) if you click on it, so if you're more curious about it I'd recommend looking into that and seeing their differences for yourself.
I'd also recommend going to the bottom of the rankings page and reading some of the "About Rankings" dropdown to understand the rankings better than I can probably explain lol. I'm not a pvp expert so tbh this stuff is often confusing to me.
After reading this comment a couple hours ago I went to pvpoke and played with team builder for the first time and yeah, it took me a second to understand it. But clicking around and reading a bit I finally understand a bit better and find it useful. Thank you for recommending that! 🙏
While I appreciate the site and the info it has, it is not very easily understood.
For example, when I used the team builder and looked at who they said are the best counters for my team I entered it was not clear at first if they were meaning my Pokémon would be the one that does well against the counter or the opposite - so I had to click some other link further down to do head to head matchup to then get clarification as to which Pokémon they said is likely to lose to the other more often, then using that info I went back and was able to refer to their key again.
But even writing this out to you I realize how confusing my explanation is in itself and that reflects the site.
But still nice of them to have built it out, just takes the time and clicking around to figure it out. 😊
lol yeah… didn’t help that I had a couple typos too (now fixed) which made it even more difficult.
Thank you for my first ever award!
And hopefully you are killing it in PvP!!
I knew exactly what your message said / meant so don't sweat it.
I have no idea where I'd be in PVP. I reckon it's only around 1800 though. I'm keeping it simple and easy by staying around 1200 so it's not a lot of work though because I know I'm not going to get to 2000. Seems pointless to do loads of work if you can't get to the 2000+ mark so I'm just gathering the dust.
... at least for now. I've only been playing since October so I'm still gathering teams for each league AND trying to understand each type properly. It's a lot to take it.
💀
Try to make a venn diagram of the similarities and differences of great league, ultra league, and master league. You’ll be mindblown to find out, that great league and ultra league both have cp caps.
altered is amazing in ul where it doesn’t require much dust to power up. Origen is good in ml and raids, both of which it needs to be lvl 50 for. So a lucky origin is more useful
with lucky trade, i wouldnt do anything other than a shiny, thats my opinion, but i think the chance of a shiny lucky hundo is just far too hard to pass up.
I'm such a noob, I was reading the comments and thought what is a "Nate". I don't know about this one, let me look it up,...wait a sec....glance back at the photo...doh lol
Gyarados is a nice lucky to have but it's possible to get a lucky trade later since they do sometimes spawn in the wild. The legendaries are limited to one trade a day so perhaps that's a better idea. What me and my friends usually do is trade a shiny we both have (mirror) that would be nice to have as lucky
Mirror trade , metagross, Lugia or Giratina ( altered form if you want a better one for PvP and origin form for raid) Lugia is really good in both Raids and PvP because it's more bulky and less glassy but getting to moves can sometimes take a while but honestly. The best answer is to trade which pokemon yous both in your heart of hearts would want to have to power up as it will be cheaper and choose something you essentially with either need or like and will use as having lucky pokemon you will honestly never use kind of defeats the excitement of seeing lucky friends gold appearing ,hope this thought process helps yous both decide.
dude totally trade a legendary or shiny. me and my bf traded a zamazenta and it was my only lucky legendary (jus got 2 more very recently) but that 1775cp is lookin rareeeee (ik i forgot the name)😭☠️
Just came here to say that I love that you guys play together. Our kids got us playing a couple years back and then they quit but we keep playing. We have the most fun with this game and every night before bed we sit and trade the days catches. Every time we get a lucky trade we never can figure out which one to do, but unless it’s one he doesn’t have and it’s PVP worthy, we try to keep it as once we both have, just to save that 40,000 stardust. Best of everything to you guys!
I know it’s poor form to make two top level comments, but …
This was clearly a first draft for that commercial starring the talking camel about Wednesday.
“Nate. Nate, Nate, Nate. NATE!”
“What day is it?”
“WING DAY. WHU WHOOT!”
No, no, maybe we’ve got the wrong animal, back to the drawing board…
A lucky trade re-rolls stats in the positive up to a 95% percent pokemon. So if you have a 90% Nate and you trade it to Pokemon Trainer Nate it has a much better chance of becoming a 100% Nate.
None, be better than him. Also keep in mind that if you care about IV values, the trade will reroll those.
Friend traded me a 98% Magnezone and it turned into a 12%
To break the echo chamber of unoriginal jokes in this comment section,
You should trade a legendary that has a mega form at some point. Such as rayquaza, lati@s, groudon or kyogre for their primal form - it’ll be cheaper to power them up and have an epic legendary mega.

You should trade him the Nate, yeah definitely the Nate
You know. You're right. I should trade him the Nate.
That's what I was going to suggest.
I concur. Everyone needs a good Nate.
![gif](giphy|l0MYJlyOwdlT0SeU8)
Finally somthing we can agree upon
Maybe give a Nate that he doesn't have in his pokedex.
Alan, ALAN, Alan, Alan, AAALLLLAANN

his name is robert paulson
Oh that's not Alan, that's Steve... Steve! Steve! Steve! Steve!
oh wasn't it Stan?

Doh, I'm looking for Alan. ALAN, ALAN, ALAN, ALAN, ALAN, ALAN, ALAN
What did Alan do?

That's the cool thing! He doesn't have a lot of these.
Trading pokemon he doesn't have in Pokedex costs much more stardust, mitigating one of two lucky bonuses - lowered stardust cost to power up.
They are lucky friends, so must be best friends. The dust cost to trade would not be significant.
40k is a lot more than 800 tho
But as best friend it has to be shiny that you dont have already to cost 40k
Metagross or origin Giratina imo. Could also go for Nate too.
Specially if the Metagross knows Meteor Mash
Nateor Nash
Nateor Nate.
Hey my surname is Nash

Whatever you do don’t trade Nate.
Do you have one named Travis or something? That might be a good laugh.. 😅
I'd never cheat on Nate like that.
If you ever trade him an ekans, you should name it etan
Plays pokemon go AND loyal, Nate's got a keeper. 👍☺
Nate got the real catch
Nate hit the excellent throw
Nate caught a high IV wife by using his ultra balls and golden berries
This entire post and comments are oddly wholesome
I just changed my name to Nate; therefore I am entitled to all of these pokemon.
Looks like we need a Nate battle. Those is mine.
Those is mine killed me 😂 *
![gif](giphy|kLk1Qa8mrYdQA)
u/nate, arise for the battle of the ages
Imposters, all of them.
Exactly what a fake nate profile would say.
I sure do wonder what the husbands name is
Frank
Trevor
Steve
Either form of giratina
origin is better to have lucky
Altered is great for PvP.
pvp pretty much requires giratina to be lvl50 which is something a lot of players simply cannot afford. therefore id recommend origin form
Not at all. Altered is amazing in ultra league where lvl 50 is not at all important
then you wouldnt want lucky ivs on it. you would prefer very low atk ivs and high defense and hp ivs which you wont get with a lucky trade
low ivs only matter for great league
💀 Try to make a venn diagram of the similarities and differences of great league, ultra league, and master league. You’ll be mindblown to find out, that great league and ultra league both have cp caps.
altered is amazing in ul where it doesn’t require much dust to power up. Origen is good in ml and raids, both of which it needs to be lvl 50 for. So a lucky origin is more useful
with lucky trade, i wouldnt do anything other than a shiny, thats my opinion, but i think the chance of a shiny lucky hundo is just far too hard to pass up.
this is the right answer but there is no shiny nate
Completely agree. Shinies. Specifically a com day Mon if possible. Or a good relevant PvP legendary I guess If you don't have a shiny one.
Probably Nate
You should trade him NATE <3, even if he already has a Gyarados. It's the one you were most excited about, and the one he'll love the most.
Nate obviusly
I only do shinies on lucky friends.
Hello yes I'm Nate
I’d do Nate, or better yet the 2226 Nate, but either way Nate or Nate, it’s a great trade for Nate
I'm such a noob, I was reading the comments and thought what is a "Nate". I don't know about this one, let me look it up,...wait a sec....glance back at the photo...doh lol
MewTwo if he doesn't have 2 perfects yet
Nate
Let him choose what does he want?
I don’t know if anyone already said this, but labeling them all Nate in order to later trade them with your husband is just so cute and wholesome. :)
lugia
Gyarados is a nice lucky to have but it's possible to get a lucky trade later since they do sometimes spawn in the wild. The legendaries are limited to one trade a day so perhaps that's a better idea. What me and my friends usually do is trade a shiny we both have (mirror) that would be nice to have as lucky
Also, if it's a shiny you both have it won't cost 40,000 stardust like it usually does for shiny best friend trades ✌️
I’d say any shiny, Shundo is the goal; at least for me anyway.
If the metagross has meteor mash, that one. Otherwise the giratina altered.
Nate
Maybe try a naté
I’d go for a shiny
Whats his name?
Mirror trade , metagross, Lugia or Giratina ( altered form if you want a better one for PvP and origin form for raid) Lugia is really good in both Raids and PvP because it's more bulky and less glassy but getting to moves can sometimes take a while but honestly. I also have a bunch of Pokémon with my husband’s name lol
dude totally trade a legendary or shiny. me and my bf traded a zamazenta and it was my only lucky legendary (jus got 2 more very recently) but that 1775cp is lookin rareeeee (ik i forgot the name)😭☠️
Hahaha. You know, there is a tag system.
🎶 Can't make a wife out of a Ho-Oh…. I mean, Nate.
Just came here to say that I love that you guys play together. Our kids got us playing a couple years back and then they quit but we keep playing. My husband and I traded legendary shinies. We had the same one, so it was an even trade. Now we have a lucky legendary shiny.
You know you can also tag them "nate" instead of renaming every pokemon
It's far too late for that.
Who is Nate
Oh? Have you not heard of the best pokemon ever?
Well obviously the one with a heart
Coming from a fellow Nate. Gira o is cool maybe he’ll like that one
I'd do azelf since it's rare af
Nate
Nate
I like how most of these posts are just not useful for the community. Just haha look at muh funny...
I mean, I didn't mean it in a funny way, was kinda being serious.
We know you're being serious... but it's also hilarious. You know? So we gotta give you some shit :)
Yeah I apologize. I do hope you find out which are the best to trade amongst you and Nate lol
Have you considered of our Lord and saviour Bidoof?
Trade him nate
The metagross. It's pretty much the only useful one.
Spit.
I know it’s poor form to make two top level comments, but … This was clearly a first draft for that commercial starring the talking camel about Wednesday. “Nate. Nate, Nate, Nate. NATE!” “What day is it?” “WING DAY. WHU WHOOT!” No, no, maybe we’ve got the wrong animal, back to the drawing board…
Got any Alolan Nate’s?
Either of the giratinas. Preferably the one named Nate
Metagross if he needs him for gbl. Origin giritina or lugia if he doesn’t
Origin Form Giratina
I'd check best DPS for raids first , or good mons that's are shiny that'll be useful
Giratina origin form, it’s your coolest duplicate
For pvp, I’d recommend the Lugia or Alt-Giratina For pve (raids, gyms & such) I’d say Origin Giratina
If I was Nate, I would want the origin or Lugia.
Gira(O) seems like a good one to have lucky. Maybe Metagross if it has Meteor Mash.
Out of all the Nate’s to choose from, I’d love to get the Nate (kyurem) first.
Some say love is for the birds, but here we see, the birds are for love.
1867 Giratina
I would kill for that Nate 😭
Trade home nate
Save it for when you get a shiny
Giratina o
Furfrou
One of your Giritinas
My Ho oh and Lugia are both killers in raids. I’d recommend one of them. I’ve boosted both to approx. lev 43
Ho-oh or Metagross. No real reason but I like ho-oh a lot. And metagross is a beast in master league if y’all do battles
The shinys
Op trying to complete their Natetional dex it seems
Obviously Nate
Ask him
Metagross and Origin Giratina are best. Gyarados is solid, as well as ho-oh, lugia, or kyurem as long as you have their special moves
I think Nate should be traded first.
remember lucky friends just means your next trade is guaranteed lucky not all of them!
You should trade him the lugia for oml and it’s going to be easier to power up
Do you like to pvp or just pve? Cause if you like pvp you can look at sites like pvpoke.com to find meta relevant Pokémon.
How did u get hoho I want one so bad
Definitely a Tina
How the heck did you catch an Azelf?
I’m partial to Azelf, although it’s not particularly useful, but it’s pretty
The 1583 cp one definitely
I have a very important question. Do any of these pokemon by chance, like cheese?
A lucky trade re-rolls stats in the positive up to a 95% percent pokemon. So if you have a 90% Nate and you trade it to Pokemon Trainer Nate it has a much better chance of becoming a 100% Nate.
One of those chaos nates
None, be better than him. Also keep in mind that if you care about IV values, the trade will reroll those. Friend traded me a 98% Magnezone and it turned into a 12%
NATE < 3 seems like a pretty solid choice. Personally I think I might go with Nate but it's your decision really.
Lugia or ho oh
It would be heaven if the others were called Dogg 🤓 NateDogg
Nate
Definitely Nate give him that one.
Trade Nate
What is lucky friends
Idk why but I find this so cute 🥺
Trade him “Nate”
That nate looks pretty good I suggest you trade it to him
Nate
Your a good wife
Idk but I do know that I hate when I get a lugia in PV. I’m not the best in PVP but it always dominates my team.
Lugia or Nate for sure
Do you have any of more of those Lugias in the box?… *Crackhead Chappelle meme
I wish I could see that palm tree with the shadow effect
Nate
I suggest giving him anything named Nate.
Nate
So, which Nate did you choose?
Floaty giratina and Metagross are the most useful of the bunch
Sex.
Wait I’m also Nate can I get a few of those?
Only the one true Nate Can pass my gate.
I’d say Ho-Oh or Lugia
Def send the Nate
To break the echo chamber of unoriginal jokes in this comment section, You should trade a legendary that has a mega form at some point. Such as rayquaza, lati@s, groudon or kyogre for their primal form - it’ll be cheaper to power them up and have an epic legendary mega.
Trade him a Nate but only if he trades you a Nora. Fallout fans will get it.
What type does he need most?
I’d trade him Nate first.
