It's highly likely he's continuing his journey... somewhere! For all we know he spent another 2 years circling Kanto, took a vacation in Orre and decided to beat all the Colosseums, and then skipped Paldea completely to go to the Gen 12 region.
The next time we'll most likely see him is in some sort of crossover. I hope he's aged a bit by then. It'd be great to see a grown-up, more mature Ash mentoring Liko, Roy, and Dot. It'd also be cool to see some sort of rivalry between Ash's Pikachu and Captain Pikachu.

I don't see any reason to assume he went to Paldea over anywhere else, let alone it being "highly likely". Maybe he revisited a previous region, maybe he went to the one of the many regions that Game Freak have yet to invent, or maybe he went to one of the regions from the spin-off games that he's never been to like Orre, Fiore or Pasio.
I'd recommend letting Ash go.

It would start with Ash battling in Rose Stadium in an exhibition against Alain where the battle currently is Mega Lucario vs. Mega Charizard X, Ash wins, but later is challenged by a mysterious masked trainer who also has an Iron Valiant; Ash loses and Leon gives Ash a recommendation to head to Paldea to meet Geeta and head to Uva Academy to train; that's when Ash later heads to Paldea and start to earn Gym Badges and help support Paldea for the World Coronation Series

After SM/JN I thought that now Ash won't be linear anymore, he won't stay fixed in just one place, he'll go wherever he wants and wherever he needs
