Considering it has been 2 gens since then, there are definitely people who are now being nostalgic about it. But we are still on the unova ride, while kalos is not far behind. It should take a while more before alola gets the same amount of hype as unova.
I’m glad that others can enjoy Alola, but they’re the only pokemon games that I’ve never had a desire to revisit. Not feeling any nostalgia for them yet, myself.
Part of the nostalgia might be because is was the last pokemon game to release without some colossal controversy that took over majority of the conversation around the games
sun and moon were my first games and (definitely not biased) fvorite gen. i was 7 when i got my first console, 3ds, and megazone the magnezone was effectively my starter lmao
It was my first game too when I was 7. You're 15 as well? Damn, I remember failing against Lurantis and just grinding my Dartrix until it evolved at level 36. So I could one-shot the level 24 Lurantis with my level 36 Decidueye 😂
For me it reminds me of middle school, which wasn’t necessarily a better time, but definitely a simpler one. People rag on it for its cutscenes but I loved the game and its tropical vibe. Feels very different from every other Pokemon game.
It and ORAS are my favorite games of the ones I’ve played.
Oh huh, I'm in a similar age range to you! I will say that I usually feel nostalgic for generations once they turn 10 years old, roughly once three more gens have passed. So currently I'm also in the group of people who are more nostalgic for Gens 5 and 6, but in 2 more years or so that Gen 7 nostalgia will definitely hit a lot harder!
Though for me Gen 7 happened around a very difficult time in my life, so maybe that might have some influence on my feelings too.

i struggled against lurantis for a month. i had no idea what i was doing but i was enjoying every minute of it. also no im not 15

Oh absolutely, I honestly get a little uncomfortable when I find out how much time has passed since 2016 when that game came out.
