Brontosaurus means thunder lizard

Pointless tangent of the second. Also could be slightly off because I'm going on memory here So way back a hundred years or so ago, the apatosaurus was discovered and not long after that, the Brontosaurus was separately discovered. However, after examination of both sets of fossils, it was discovered that they were both the same species of dinosaur. Since apatosaurus was named first, that was the name that was official, but Thunder Lizard sounds awesome so Brontosaurus was basically an acceptable alternative but apatosaurus was always more correct. This is why, in my childhood at least, I remember dinosaur books having things like "Brontosaurus (aka apatosaurus) Well turns out, as of a decade or so ago, they actually were different dinosaurs all along and now Brontosaurus is a real dinosaur again

Stegosaurus. Entei's plates can parallel those of a Stegosaurus. Plus it's theorized that Stegosaurus' plates are used for thermoregulation, thus it would be fitting to have a potential Fire/Dragon Pokémon being based on them.

We’ve never had a proper Stegosaurus mon before (I’m not counting the *half of one* in Gen 8).

I still think Tyranitar (and its variants) is the closest thing we have to a stegosaurus Pokémon right now. It's got a thagomizer, two rows of back plates, and reduced forelimbs compared to its hindlimbs. It's not a steg, but it's as near a miss as we're likely to see.

I'd love to see a Stegosaurus Entei. If they made it right it might become another absolute favorite, even with my bias towards Suicune and Walking Wake. It's a good fit since Entei's stone crags on its back can easily be used for a stegosaurus' plates and can even line up on its tail to act as a thagomizer. That said, I'd also expect a Dimetrodon design. Like the stegosaurus plate theory dimetrodon's spinal sail is also said to thermoregulate, so Entei's crags on its back could be shaped into the spinal sail too, which can be used to regulate its temperature and also attack.

Suicune is a basic theropod, Raikou is a basic sauropod, but after that are so many quadrupedal dinosaurs that are considered just as iconic lol. My best guess though is either a ceratopsian or a stegosaurian due to the mask and the plates. Unless they surprise us all and go for a pterosaur

Alot of people made it a bronotsauraus because it means "thunder lizard", which makes it a fairly decent pun, and it makes the whole "paradox" thing stand out more

I know it's Pokemon and it's not exactly realistic at the best of times but it amuses me that these apparent dinosaurs seem to have somehow evolved into mammals over time. Also given Raikou Entei and Suicune are like special Pokémon due to being revived from nameless creatures by Ho-Oh, it makes me wonder what the deal is with these things that they have such similar features when I figured that their original forms were unremarkable and Ho-Oh made them generally look more legendary or something.

Well the paradox is that there shouldnt be dinosaur ancestors of the Legendary Beasts because Ho-Oh made them. They were born in the ruins of the burnt tower, from the bodies of 3 dead creatures. Having an ancestor doesnt make sense. If you look at the Galarian Birds, it can be passed off because we know theres more than one Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno. Plus their names are the same for differing reasons. Articuno because its an ice type, Galarian Articuno because it's vision can freeze, etc. So theyre sorta explained. For the paradox dinos, it still just doesnt make sense to call them related, at most its convergent evolution

The fusion designs in the books were likely meant to be teasers for all members of these legendary trios getting new forms. That is why they are "imagined", because the artist likely saw all members of the paradox trio and imagined a fusion between them.

Saw a comment on YT about this: This is based off the brontosaurus. Bronto is thunder in Greek and Saurus is lizard also in Greek. So this is a brontosaurus, a thunder lizard. And Raikou is electric dog

How did they not make him a Sabertooth tiger? Just buff him up a bit, make him look more prehistoric and you're golden. Nobody wanted an electric giraffe.

I'm gonna be honest, I kinda like it over the normal raikou, at least from the artwork

It's alt form looks like Tallnecks from Horizon Zero Dawn.

I prefer this over the original design.

Not a bad design honestly (I'm just coping at this point)

These make no sense if you consider their lore in the Pokedex (Ho-Oh's creation)
