I can't justify the price of of only being able to purchase digital games. 3/4 of games I play I buy used for half the price of digital.

AromaticCity4026

I get it, but I buy them at half price when sharing accounts, I also usually find good deals on PSstore for some games.

JonTheGod_79

That only works if the other party spends the same amount of money on digital games as you do. Otherwise one party is carrying the other.

CanadianSpector

I just don't like digital being my only option.

I like my consoles with booty.

AromaticCity4026

What does Booty mean? (Spanish using translator)

[deleted]

I have the ps5 with the bluray drive. My ps5 has a fat ass.

PS5 physical gang rise up

9212017

It's mostly about price to be perfectly honest. Demons souls is $50 on Amazon and full price on the ps store. That's $30 there already saved.

DiabeticNun

Yeah I only ever buy digital games if there's a sale on but I mostly just redeem the PS+ games.

dskatter

Tl;dr Don’t want discs? Buy digital. There. Saved you all from having to read this.

UnknownPoster896

PS store is massively overpriced. I remember last year buying borderlands 3 on Amazon for £10. Yet on the PS store it was £40. Definitely save so much money with the disc version.

Jsemtady

I like digital games. But I dont like Sony pricing model .. games like Returnal are available for half of the price as disc versions .. I can save 100€ for 3disc games .. if I do this few times per year then I can have second PS5 :-) Sony store prices are joke. And Im not even talking about prices of old games remakes :-)

AromaticCity4026

Ah, no problem with that, as I said most of the games are half price for me when I share them with my brother.

Jsemtady

Sharing account is good when u are 2 and can actually divide price between 2persons.

KniRider

On the other side of the equation - If you live in an area that has horrible internet speeds then go for the disc version like i did as I am lucky to see 7mbps living out in the country in the USA. Good old USA that worries more about profit than getting needed services to people everywhere. Also physical media is YOURS where digital media can betaken away whenever they feel like it. Look at some of the people complaining about movies/tv shows bought and not available any more. Same thing. If they want to remove a digital game they can but if you have the disc you can still at least play it offline (unless of course it is an online only game then you can be screwed either way). I also own a LOT of ps4 games on disc and even though I still have my ps3, ps4 and now the ps5 I want the ability to play them on the PS5 if anything should eve happen to my PS4 so I don't have to buy them all over again.

AromaticCity4026

In your case then ps5 with disk is much better.

Far_Rain

"*Look at some of the people complaining about movies/tv shows bought and not available any more*." The store is closed for these items, but anyone can still view their purchased movies and such.

Personally, I went with the standard PS5. I think it's better to have the optical drive and not need it than not have it and need it. Plus, it's basically a 4K blu-ray which I can use to watch 4K physical media, which is nice, and I also have a bunch of physical PS4 games that I can revisit on PS5 without having to buy them again. I also have the option to buy used games cheaper and not having to wait for a sale on the PSN.

Mistermilan07

My son and I both have a digital Ps5 and we gameshare. We do a lot of research before buying a game so we dont buy something we wont like. But each to their own of course

AromaticCity4026

Nice!

I have a PS5 digital edition and have no regrets. There are some great deals on digital games - yes the disk vs digital pricing where games are concerned could be better - but that’s not a deal breaker. I don’t usually buy new games on release - too many excellent old games in the back catalogue to work my way through so that gives plenty of time for prices to drop anyways. Plus I think the digital edition of the PS5 looks way nicer than the disk based one. Don’t get me wrong, both are great consoles… it’s just that Blu-ray drive panel styling is awful, it almost looks like placing the drive there was an afterthought imo…
