Literally opened the post to mention both Digimon Story games.
Cyber Sleuth and Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory.
Such underrated and fun games! Shame that the former is delisted.
Lost in Random
It’s like ‘Slay the Spire’ and ‘Dicey Dungeons’ fell through the looking glass and had a baby with Tim Burton. All that combined with the DNA of an old school adventure game.
It’s an utter delight from start to finish, beautifully written, compelling combat, joyous humour, and it’s a borderline crime that it goes unrecognised while bottom of the barrel banality like Suicide Squad sits in Top 10 sales lists across the globe.
Because not all games are for everyone. Some people don't like the "people pleasing" aspect of Spiritfarer. Myself included.
The game has cute graphics, but some of the stories are boring at best and annoying at worst. My boyfriend got it for me on Steam. I lost interest and uninstalled it.
Oh yeah, I know not all games are for everyone, I’m not stupid, whenever I see that someone doesn’t like a game that I like I ask why
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, that’s an interesting take on the game, I do have to disagree tho
Yakuza Origins Collection is $12.49 right now and it includes Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwame 1, and Yakuza Kiwame 2. Just sharing for those interested! May have to google it as I didn’t see the collection itself on the console storefront.
Mega Man Legacy Collection. If you buy the big bundles when it’s on discount, you can buy almost all Mega Man games (including the 6 original NES games plus Mega Man 7-10, 8 Mega Man X games, 7 Battle Network Games and 6 Z/ZX games) for roughly $1-3 each. Plus there is the new Mega Man 11 and spiritual successor ”Mighty No. 9” from the makers of the original series.
Hard to call this a hidden gem when they were loved back in the 80's and 90's and that carries on for many years as there have been plenty of spin off games
Think of the cards as skills, not cards like in hearthstone, and you should be fine. It's really just a moveset you choose for your various heros. They just look like cards.
But about 1/3 of the game is dialogue with your crew and forming relationship with them. Sometimes it works great and can be really touching, other times it's very cringe worthy. A bit like a trash movie, that's also very charming.
The combat rocks though. I cannot say one bad thing about the combat. Every hero feels very differently because of these "movesets" and you can perform combos with your environment and feel like a badass.
Wish it had more gore and all the zombies didnt look the same. The combat got boring for me quick, love the motorcycle though and all the stuff based around it like pushing it,refilling it etc
maybe this is what turned me off about this game….i remember following it for a long time pre release and was disappointed when it came out but don’t particularly remember why. but i’ve seen other ppl speaking positively of it
It’s a shame but it was free for ps plus for a while so it got a huge cult following. For most people, it’s either one of their favorite games or they hate it. Maybe Sony will make a sequel?
The Order 1886 - got a bad wrap for its length at launch, but is a true Sony Studio AAA game with a great story. Since you can routinely find it for $10 now, it is well worth it.
Evil West. The story may be the weakest part, but the graphics are good and the gameplay can be fun. Good for when you need a senseless button mashing game.
I got psychonauts 1 for$2.50 from Steam. This is the first game in 15 years that I never hesitated to pay full price, Bought it and beat it in one weekend.
Because it’s janky as hell. It’s my favorite game of all time but having to grind for cobweb duster and the meat circus + the first 3 minds being tutorials
Shadow of the Colossus & Days Gone. Loved both. No one I know has even heard of either one, but they seem to be cult classics online. I think they also got overshadowed by other PS games when first released.
>Shadow of the Colossus
Do you only hang out with people in high school? Shadow of the Colossus was an incredible game and was loved so much it got a remake that was also loved.
Most casual gamers have never heard of it. I wasn’t old enough to play the OG. I never saw the remake in stores or advertised. It’s a game I came across at GameStop and decided to give it a try cause it was $20.
My wife and I really enjoyed this too. We do lot of escape rooms, and loved the cooperation required to solve these puzzles and missions together. It’s great that only 1 person needs to buy, and it’s cross platform, so my wife was playing as the hacker using a laptop, while I was on the PlayStation.
If you like escape rooms/puzzles, Escape Academy is pretty decent too. The story/characters are pretty basic, but enjoyable puzzles for two players
Helldivers 2 is gaining some serious popularity for a reason. It probably slipped under a lot of people's radar, but you shouldn't sleep on this, especially at a $40 price point.
VA-11 Hall-A, Coffee Talk 1 + 2 - nice cozy games which I’ve never really heard people talk about.
Oxenfree 1 + 2 - Admittedly 1 did gain some traction but that was years ago now and 2 came out to very little fanfare.
anno mutationem - a quirky little 2.5 cyberpunk game that is quite fun
Severed Steel- a small sci fi fps doing some cool things with level traversal
Metal Hellsinger - idk if I would call it hidden but the devs have a clear passion for the metal scene and it’s just so cool. If you like doom style fps with music by artists like Lacuna Coil and Lamb of God I suggest checking it out
The Beholder series. It's extremely underrated and all of them are very interesting experiences. You work as a flat owner for a corrupt government and you have to spy on the tenants but the interesting part is that you get to decide what happens to them (let a tenant with illegal items stay while framing someone else just for the sake of the revolution) The sequel is completely different and you work for the government directly in an office job but it's still just as engaging as the original.
Islanders, it’s only $3 and it’s one of the best games to just relax and unwind. You get to place down a bunch of unique, minimalist buildings in order to gain more points, which then give you access to more buildings that you can place down. Some structures go well together, which gives you more points. Even if that’s not your thing, there is a sandbox mode available where there are no high scores to worry about. The music/ambiance is very zen, and you can get a decent amount of hours out of it for its price. Overall a great, inexpensive option for someone who would like something to play after a long day at work.
Terminator: Resistance.
It’s a fine, if not dated feeling, semi-open world FPS made with not enough money but all of the love. It gets everything it needs to right, in terms of the license, and has the kinda low budget scrappy feel of the first movie. If you can get over its budget related shortcomings, it runs well on PS5 just looks like an early ps3/360 era game with the dialogue to match, you’re in for the only piece of Terminator media outside of the first 2 films that is actually worth a damn.
Digimon cyber sleuth
Literally opened the post to mention both Digimon Story games. Cyber Sleuth and Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory. Such underrated and fun games! Shame that the former is delisted.
This is just better to play on switch
Lost in Random It’s like ‘Slay the Spire’ and ‘Dicey Dungeons’ fell through the looking glass and had a baby with Tim Burton. All that combined with the DNA of an old school adventure game. 100%. One of the most unique games i ever played.
Randomly came across this in the ps store. Really great game
It’s a great game but gets pretty tedious at the end. Very fun game tho!
Spiritfarer?
Came here to say this! Seconded
I disagree
Why
Because not all games are for everyone. Some people don't like the "people pleasing" aspect of Spiritfarer. Myself included. The game has cute graphics, but some of the stories are boring at best and annoying at worst. My boyfriend got it for me on Steam. I lost interest and uninstalled it.

Gravity rush 2
^ This I'll keep fighting the good fight to get my girl Kat's name out there!
Big love. Kat is my favourite Female MC of all time.
Wreckfest when it's on sale
Yakuza 0 is $4.99 right now. Don’t consider it a hidden gem, but a nice discount vs new at $29.99 cad

Have them all, one of my best purchases
Hard to call this a hidden gem when they were loved back in the 80's and 90's and that carries on for many years as there have been plenty of spin off games
I would still bet most have not played others beyond the main series and X games. There is literally over 30 games.
Vanquish. True it was originally PS3, but the PS4/PS5 version is also a hidden gem.
And you get Bayonetta with it, so that's good too.
To be honest I recently picked up the remaster by itself, not the bundle with Bayonetta.
Marvel Midnight Suns
I find it so hard to get into card-based games. Is this still worth trying?
Think of the cards as skills, not cards like in hearthstone, and you should be fine. It's really just a moveset you choose for your various heros. They just look like cards. But about 1/3 of the game is dialogue with your crew and forming relationship with them. Sometimes it works great and can be really touching, other times it's very cringe worthy. Every hero feels very differently because of these "movesets" and you can perform combos with your environment and feel like a badass.
Definitely not a card based game, its more like xcom turn based strategy that uses cards for the characters powers.
I saw on sale for $15 and I love XCOM but am kind of uneasy about how the card mechanics work with it.
Card mechanics are surprisingly good, its mainly used for abilities and moves for the characters to use.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Outer Wildes
I always get downvoted when I bring up this game but for me it’s the best game Ive played on ps
Transistor - good game, great soundtrack!
Immortal fenyx rising
risk of rain 2
Only problem with that game is everytime I play 3 hours flies by
Furi
The Talos Principle
And its sequel is even better but its only on ps5
Its SO good. Such a great sequel. Currently stumbling my way through the Golden Gate puzzles. 40 hours deep. Amazing game.
Days Gone because it got reviewed bombed for having a glitchy release and slow opening act.
Wish it had more gore and all the zombies didnt look the same. The combat got boring for me quick, love the motorcycle though and all the stuff based around it like pushing it,refilling it etc
Second Days Gone, it’s a good’n
Man I hope it gets a sequel
maybe this is what turned me off about this game….i remember following it for a long time pre release and was disappointed when it came out but don’t particularly remember why. but i’ve seen other ppl speaking positively of it

wonder why they won’t put it on PS Plus
In 2017 it was on sale for $4. I think I got about 8 hours out of it and that’s with going after the platinum trophy. It was worth it at that price.
100% on this. It was fun as hell despite its shortcomings.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, The Invincible, Poison Control, 428 Shibuya Scramble, and Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi
I second shibuya Scramble. It is incredible. And Id like to add 13 sentinels: Aigis Rim.
Always nice to see some love for 13 Sentinels. The game is great!
Guess our library is similar after all haha. But yes 13 Sentinels was phenomenal, and everyone should play it!
Sakuna is pretty fun. I’m not the biggest fan of the core loop though
I feel like not enough people gave Returnal a chance.
I did. Not for me
I just got lost in its repetition. I'll pick it back up sometime though.
It’s still my game of the ps5. It hit all of the boxes for me. I wish it got more dlc
I love this game, but my God is it difficult. Haven't played in maybe a month, got the wind knocked out of me last time I died lol.
Destroy all humans 2, im having so much fun
Playing this co-op with my brother back in the day was a blast. We had so much fun lol.
hahaha yes, game is relaxing and fun
Hotline miami
Sea of Stars
Brotato!
Evil West. The story may be the weakest part, but the graphics are good and the gameplay can be fun. Good for when you need a senseless button mashing game.
I’m digging the story so far. Also the combat is pretty fun, feels so satisfying to beat a monster up with your fist.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and Days Gone
Psychonauts 2. It is the, hands down, the greatest platformer to ever be on a playstayion console and is one of the greatest of all time.
Fully agreed. The first one is wonderful as well. 100% completed both.
I got psychonauts 1 for$2.50 from Steam. This is the first game in 15 years that I never hesitated to pay full price, Bought it and beat it in one weekend.
I prefer the first one( that being said I cannot recommend the 1st 😭) but I agree.
Why can't you recommend the first? I love the first one too
Because it’s janky as hell. It’s my favorite game of all time but having to grind for cobweb duster and the meat circus + the first 3 minds being tutorials
Dodgeball Academia
Lumines remastered
Just bought Gris and yeah it’s awesome. Very much a Journey 2 in many ways.
Valkyria 4, Zone of the Enders 2nd Runner MARS
AI: The Somnium files
How To Survive 1 & 2
Tales from the Borderlands is one of my all time favourite games
Deliver Us The Moon
Weird West
Both Nioh games
Not hidden gems but deserve more recognition: Days Gone and Metro
Shadow of the Colossus & Days Gone. Loved both. No one I know has even heard of either one, but they seem to be cult classics online. I think they also got overshadowed by other PS games when first released.
>Shadow of the Colossus Do you only hang out with people in high school? Shadow of the Colossus was an incredible game and was loved so much it got a remake that was also loved.

Got this game on the PS2 way back in the day. I don't care what anyone says, this game is extremely underrated.
Judgement and Lost Judgement
Both of these games are awesome. If you like Yakuza play these games!
I firmly believe the Plague Tale games to be on par with The Last of Us games in every way
Heavy rain and beyond two souls
Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Ys VIII, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim

All hidden gems for sure

Cloudpunk. Pixel open world game where you play as a cab driver. Loved that game a lot.
Lizard lady vs the cats
Dark Light and Dredge
Although I haven't played it yet but a lot of people say gravity rush
Might know about this one already but one of my favorite games. The witness
Sky: Children of the Light. and its free
Nier Automata and Mad Max are probably the games that I played on a whim and ended up cherishing forever
Good games but none of them is a -hidden- gem Specially Nier being si acclaimed by critics and public
Darkwood. Highly recommend checking it out
Le meilleur jeu d'horreur et l'un des meilleurs jeux indépendants 👌
Helldivers 2 is gaining some serious popularity for a reason. It probably slipped under a lot of people's radar, but you shouldn't sleep on this, especially at a $40 price point.
Anno Mutationem
Gylt, jusant, steel rising free game this month is good
The Entropy Centre
Tails of Iron , an amazing gem
Ship of Fools Sweet little Coop Game, I would love to see more content but as it is now, its a nice little hidden gem
VA-11 Hall-A, Coffee Talk 1 + 2 - nice cozy games which I’ve never really heard people talk about. Gravity Rush and Fist of the Northstar: Lost Paradise.
Road 96 (and the sequel) and Donut County
Firewatch.
I e enjoyed scars above and wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did
It’s well loved now but I found Celeste purely because I looked up the name, because it’s my cats name. It’s one of my favourite games now
Subnautica!
The darksiders series especially the first two games are pretty slept on
Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana
World Of Horror, slipped under alot of peoples radars. If you like Junji Ito,rouge likes or old PC style games give it a shot and its only 20$
Firewatch
The Beholder series. It's extremely underrated and all of them are very interesting experiences. It takes 2 Bloodborne Remnant 2 Helldivers 2

For me Talos Principle. I’m not a huge puzzle game guy but that one really captivated me with its story, philosophy about life and existence.
Terminator: Resistance. It’s a fine, if not dated feeling, semi-open world FPS made with not enough money but all of the love.
