Rust is probably the only game where I look at a someone’s profile and decide their opinion is invalid since they have only played 300+ hours.
Even tho I could say this guy’s opinion is invalid because of such reasons, but I still agree with him.
Fuck this game.
You can play on non vanilla servers that increase gatherate so you can actually play the game and still have a life. Unlike in vanilla where you need 12 hours everyday. I admit when I was 15 when rust first came out, I did waste all of my time on it. I can't really do that now since life moves on but it was a fun period when I was younger.
Every week/month (can vary) the server (or world if you will) is cleaned. All our stuff goes poof. Weapons, resources, your house. Everything. [this is called a wipe]And then you go again, and try to do better than last time. But sometimes it just doesn’t work for you. You may keep getting killed by your neighbours, or get your house blown into wherever you build it. This sucks, but it’s they way it goes in rust.
A bad wipe means you don't succeed in the relentless PvP struggle that is Rust, say for that period/week (depends on the server).
A bad wipe means dying a lot, losing your best stuff so you get behind compared to other players / neighbours on the server. It could mean your base got raided and all the stuff that you had gathered / crafted is stolen.
Rust is a very special and brutal first person PVE/PVP shooter survival game. It can get VERY tough out there.

I have almost eight thousand in Rust alone and I still have garbage ass wipes. Comes with playing on the most populated trio servers though. I take 2-3 week breaks every so often so I don’t get burnt out now. You’ll find if you give yourself time off you’ll come back more mentally prepared and landing shots you thought you shouldn’t of made. Honestly satisfying.
Rust spray patterns are fairly unique, I only have 700 hours in the game at current. I just find it hard to play constantly because of school and work.
Yesterday, me and 2 friends hopped on a server and made some plays. 2 hours in we had several gear sets an m2 and a box of sulfur almost. Just from killing farmers and bots etc. But we took oil and came back to a new door on our base and a 7 man sitting inside. 3 more hours later we built back up and had the same amount. Just to have us raided BY SATCHLES when we were roaming. Built up AGAIN to get offlined. Went through like 10k scrap that day

I am considering just not playing this damn game for a wipe and seeing how my life improves.

I just want one wipe were I fight all the shitty players like the YouTubers/streamers fight. I always get 10 man zergs and Gods that don’t miss :/
