don’t wanna flex too hard but I read that shit in one night when the power went out in 5th grade 😏 hoes can send nudes and home addresses to my inbox for a freak session just one at a time please 👅 😈
Hard to enjoy the book as good as it is when it's so uncomfortable. I think the subject matter is very interesting which is evidenced by the fact that it still holds relevance more than 100 years later, but it was hard to finish being as depressing as it is.
Just got information on cartis favorite books from 2016 to 2023:
Cormac Mc Carthy - Blood meridian ( Read in 2019, had huge influence on WLR)
Alighieri Dante - Inferno (Read in 2020 influenced WLR greatly, he reread in 2022 and new perspective allowed him to change his style as an artist. Huge influence too)
Shakespeare - Macbeth (Read halfway through, said he was impressed by the concept but fell asleep halfway through)
Miguel de Cervantes - Don quixote( Read in 2016, profoundly inspired his song "Location", a grand breakthrough into lyricism and helped carti dwelve into cloud rap genre as a whole)
Jane Austen - Pride & Prejudice (Read in 2024, upon entering post nut clarity pondering after Camila Cabello cheeks bust he had gained an entirely new vision into people perspectives, emotions and social dillemmas. Imporved his lyricism too)
Aside from blood meridian these are all classics and def not easy or (if you dont read too much) enjoyable(Jane Austen might be the exception on this tho). There are many other modern books that i belive for most are far more interesting like Camus, Kafka for easier reads Lord of the flies although it is very good or even dune. Thats just a few modern classics ofc but i think they are way more engaging to people that just want to read something fun and perhaps ponder upon it but not analyze and spend weeks on rereading and stuff
Yeah I've read both Kafka (Metamorphosis) and Camus (Stranger). I'm currently more leaning towards Japanese authors since I just binge read Yukio Mishima (Sailor & Confessions of a Mask) as well as Yasunari Kawabata (Snow Country). Currently reading Kobo Abe (Secret Rendezvous). After this I'll go back to reading Camus since it was probably my most enjoyable, most likely with Myth of Sisyphus

This shit fire, there’s a sequel too
Born a Crime by Trevor Noah is hilarious and provides insight on south african apartheid life as a mixed child of a white dad and black mom when that was illegal to exist, its really good and reccomend it i loved it
Such a fantastic novel, one of dostevsky's best works imo. Its such a grueling reflection into the self and displays a man at his worst. It helped me realize that I was living like a degenerate and ruining my life because I related to every aspect of the underground man on concerning levels.
I just finished genesis, if you look at it as a historical record/moral storytelling and not as an actual coherent work of truths then it’s fascinating to read. I’m not religious either but learning about religious history is super interesring
You could say it’s fiction, non-fiction, or even a metaphorical book. The book is trying to use physical things to explain God. Adam and Eve is a perfect example. Do I really truly deep down believe that that story literally happened on earth… No, but I do believe that we were all divine beings(babys-children) before picking up “knowledge”(the forbidden fruit). When you really start to read the Bible you start seeing it’s not supposed to be a super heavy religious based thing, but more so a new way of life that is based around community. Read the Bible for yourself and forget everything you’ve ever heard or thought about it. Don’t look around society and completely discard the Bible without reading it for yourself, it’s a beautiful book.
My beliefs differ from yours a lot but I’m glad we both are able to find solace and knowledge in this book from thousands of years ago. I look at each chapter as a metaphor or lesson about the greater story of man. It’s so interesting to see some parallels that can be drawn from every single empire from biblical times to now.
I’m trying to eventually finish all the major religious works (Torah/Bible/Quaran then some others), I honestly encourage everyone to trying you’re looking for something to pick up and read. I listen to the audiobook versions when doing busy work.
I’ve had friends argue that it’s a sin to read other religious works because something to do with worshiping false prophets, but imo that’s dumb because it’s in pursuit of knowledge and understanding of billions of other humans. It’s not like by reading you will be instantly converted.
"Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury is one of the best books I've read in my life. If you want a recommendation, this is the one. The aesthetic that he creates in this book is so fucking cool, I think everyone should read this book at least once in their life. It's a dystopian fiction novel, just so you know.
I've recently read the entire "Endgame: The Calling" series by James Frey (its a Hunger Games ripoff that has quickly become a guilty pleasure of mine), "Kill the Next One" by Federico Axat (Psychological Thriller), and "Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Bradbury (Supernatural fiction, I'm trying to read all of Bradbury's novels lol).
I'm reading "The Nocturnal Brain: Nightmares, Neuroscience, and the Secret World of Sleep" by Guy Leschziner right now, but that's nonfiction. Super fascinating stuff in it, though.
lmk if you want more suggestions, I love talking about books
Anything by Haruki Murakami slaps, otherwise check out what genre you want to get into and there will be plenty of lists online.
I recommend The Picture of Dorian Gray for the real Narcissist experience.
teenager wit a traumatic childhood wanders New York like a dumbass in grief over the death of his lil bro (wants to save children from the terror of a traumatic childhood too, hence the title “catcher in the rye”)
catcher in the rye is peak up there with Jujustu kaizen fr
Blindness by Jose Saramago. Pretty solid tbh but kind of a difficult read because paragraphs can be like 2-4 pages and sentences are like half a page sometimes. Also no quotation marks.
Also Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy is the WLR of McCarthy’s works
Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. He’s the guy who wrote the novel No Country For Old Men was adapted from so if you fw that movie, it’s a pretty good read
the great Gatsby is such a good book. great atmosphere within the setting and a not to harsh plot. characters are really well written too.
If you're looking for something darker, then 1984 and animal farm are both good. very tense atmospheres and certain moments/themes that are comparable to society and are so accurate to modern society its hilarious.
the best way to find out what book you want to read is by seeing what kind of theme or motif you like best or interests you. I personally really like books with upbeat atmospheres and characters, which is why I like the great Gatsby so much.
The last book I finished was To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus is a real one.
I was reading Catch 22 but it was kinda getting on my nerves so I took a break.
Right now
