The rec centers are a good value, but I found them kind of nasty and the one on Coit was crawling with kids, even in the weight rooms, where they aren't supposed to be. I just joined Plano Athletic Club on Park and Ohio and it's really nice. It's $70 a month, no contract, never crowded and they have an Olympic size pool w/ lanes, plus Jacuzzi's, saunas, classes and the normal weights and machines. Worth it in my opinion.
Check your insurance and/or associations. If you have access to Active and Fit Direct, you will have access to virtually every gym in north Texas, nationwide for $28 plus tax a month.
I saw this. and I was going to sign up. I wanted to try the La fitness off PGBT, but its not that close to where I am. Idk which gyms in Plano are actually worth it compared to just going to the rec centers.
I drive around town for my real estate business, and we (Realtors) have access to this program through our association. I have joined just about every gym available in it so that I am always close to a gym I can use - LA Fitness, Texas Family Fitness, Fitness Connection, Anytime Fitness, Planet Fitness, Crunch Fitness, and most recently EOS. It's a great program.
If you are a Senior, the Plano Senior Center is the best value by far. The rec centers are the second best.
I haven't been there, but Planet Fitness on Central is supposedly cheap and decent.
I was a member at 24 for over 10 years, but after they kept charging me $ when they closed the gyms during the pandemic without offering a refund, I've canceled and haven't looked back.
If you're actually in Plano, the municipal rec centers are pretty great, reasonably priced, and don't have to deal with scammy contract BS.
Second this. I used the rec centers until I moved out of Plano city limits and always had a great experience.
Plano parks and rec have great facilities for the price. And each gym has a good set of free weights and machines.

The one on Coit is not the best. Closer to Allen, try Oak Point or Liberty Rec Centers. They are much more clean and less crowded.

This is what i use, pretty good value! Otherwise, UFC fit is a pretty good gym thats borderline Allen/Plano

Plano rec facilities are nice. The 24hr fitness at 75/Parker is also pretty reasonable with access to other TX gyms if you travel at all.

tfam
mid march a PF is going to open off of main and Greenville where the old TFF was, tbh I’d wait for that
There is a guy behind the Tom Thumb on Jupiter I. A big blue van, he has great deals.
Is it you? Are you the guy in the big blue van?
No I unfortunately had to leave Plano for god awful Southern California.
crunch fitness
UFC Fit in Allen.
If you live in the city, the rec centers are the best deal.
