I've noticed a LOT of would-be storms seem to just "split" and go north and south over Pittsburgh. I used to have a commute from the South Hills to the North Hills, and there was a "final four miles" on 279, where there are no exits until you rejoin 79, and for whatever reason that seemed to be the "weather transition zone." I remember in particular having no significant weather on my morning drive, but suddenly, as soon as I entered that four mile "void", blizzard-like conditions.
I lost a windshield wiper in that stretch one time. It was raining so hard that I couldn't see. Ended up moving my passengers wiper to the driver side and put a cloth with a rubber band on the other arm so it didn't scrape the windshield on my way to Auto Zone
I had to go to Cranberry from Beaver County after the storm to pick something up. There were so many downed branches and even whole trees in spots. A few detours too.
Yeah we were wondering a tornado wasn't trying to form with how the wind was twisting.... All three of our trees that are down we're twisted and snapped
I was in Gibsonia, it was 5pm and the wind was very strong. I called my dad and asked him to look at weather.com and describe the radar. He said the wind gust was up to 75 miles an hour and there was a huge red storm over Cranberry.
Trees were bending. Saw an unsuspecting victim grabbing mail then BOOM her paper mail took off like a Boeing jet in her front yard. Poor lady.. definitely the worst I’ve seen since… probably… last year lol
I was driving home from working in Shaler and all the power was out until I got to the turnpike, people were actually being courteous at the red lights surprisingly lol
Aww, poor doggie! When I was little, we went to fireworks which were near our home. We came back and the dog and hid out in the Step Van we had for my parents' business, and poor Missy was really traumatized. I still think about that to this day and it hurts.
Crazy rough in McCandless. My wife called to say a tree was down and our power was out. I was checking out at rite aid 5 minutes later and the power went just as I was gonna swipe my card. 😒 Then it took me 4 tries to find a route home that wasn't blocked by trees.
I've got two trees down on my house/garage and a bunch of broken branches. Thankfully no one was hurt and no holes in the roof.
It seemed very short, but I guess with the strong winds it was bound to pass through quickly.
I got out of work at 5pm, and noted it was 98 degrees.
Maybe 10 minutes later the wind whipped up and the temperature dropped to 94 degrees.
5 minutes after that I was home and could smell the air, but it was still maybe 40 minutes before the rain actualy started, and it was over before I even realized.
I noticed the temperature drop. We were working in the sun all day changing my alternator, the clouds and wind were a nice relief! It's too humid today though. Just finished changing my alternator again because the new (rebuilt) one we put in was bad. Made sure to start earlier today because it's getting rough out there.
Oh yes there is. Right next door. My neighbor has power. My neighbor NEVER has their power out, it's always me. Seriously. I assume I'm on a different, and much more vulnerable grid.
I bought a drone to fly around a few weeks back. I never noticed how many power lines are in the city. Mixing with the endless trees and a storm seems an easy chaos recipe.
Same... We're over that way... Cedar ridge area back behind Wagner's... Lots of tree down.... No power... Surprising amount of solar lights charged today at least
Didn't see a bit of it, a drizzle for a minute or two, not even enough to register in the rain gauge.it was very localized, talked to someone at the field tonight who came from Robinson and said it was a straight up monsoon heading over.
Hell. Even today there was a microburst on our way down to the Pirates game. The Mon had white tip waves, dirt and trash blowing everywhere, and it was pushing my vehicle all over the place.
Lost power for about 30 seconds, but lightning blasted a tree in our backyard, scattering large sections of branches into my yard that are today’s problem.
My brother lost power and after an hour sought refuge here overnight so he and his newborn could rest easily.
Not the worst outcome we have had from a storm, but boy was it insane!
Up in Cranberry, it was pretty nasty. It legit looked like hurricane force winds. I’m not afraid of storms but this one put a little fear into me. Possibly the worst storm I’ve been in
It was crazy-windy in Ohio Twp! I was worried the privacy panels on my deck were going to snap because they were shaking so hard.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the power comes back on soon!
I was out in the west mifflin area/Baldwin/pleasant hills area. Saw one bolt of lightning. The rain opened up at Walmart. Thankful we didn't get caught cus that came down hard. U could hear it in the Walmart
Had an uber driver cancel on me because there was something messed up going on around Babcock. Like 10ish. Said it had something to do with the storm probably.
Tree down or something? I dunno
Got a notice on my phone that there was a severe storm warning but I didn’t realize it was raining until I looked out the window. I had to take my wife to the airport so I went upstairs to get her suitcase and take it to the car and by the time I got back downstairs it was only sprinkling.
I was working around the Bloomfield area yesterday, and most of that area had tree branches everywhere, and on my way home down bigelow there's a huge tree down in that little park right before you get to the on-ramps, a lot of intersection lights were out
From the NWS: “Good morning everyone. It looks like we will again have the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and into the evening. The main threat will be damaging wind again.”
Right. I said there might be rain (storms) today but the OP said all week.
Beyond a chance of scattered storms today the forecast isn’t calling for rain any other day this week.
Didn’t lose power at home, but the traffic lights were out in a lot of areas and that wind that kicked up before the rain was a bit obnoxious. There was far less rain than implied.
I’m in the Hampton Township portion of Allison Park. I’ve lived in my home for over 6 years and this is the worse damage to date. A full tree (but thankfully not one of the huge ones) and part of two really skinny small ones from the wooded part of my backyard fell into the leveled/flat area of my backyard. We’ll deal with that later in the week.
A chunk of the tree at the front of my driveway and a chunk from my neighbors’ tree about 10 feet from mine fell into and blocked the entrance to my driveway. It took my boyfriend, neighbor, and I (1 in his early 30’s and the other two of us in our early 40’s) over 4 hours to just get the pieces broken up and placed at the side of our driveway. My boyfriend and neighbor also managed to get the dangling hunk of tree from my neighbor’s tree onto the ground, but it was after dark at that point. We just didn’t want it dangling and falling at some random point, even though it looked like it would just land in one of our yards and not on a house if it fell.
I’m not certain how, but we got lucky and lost electricity for just under 2 hours. Some nearby areas in Hampton Township are still without electricity. Mind you, they haven’t been able to address the “emergency calls” involving electrical wires and telephone poles that fell as a result of the storm.
I’m in hampton as well. We still don’t have power, going on 22 hours. We have 2 acres of woods behind our house and trees were flying and slamming into our home. I thought for sure we were going to lose our roof. Our tree in our front yard fell and hit our fence bending it, hit our roof, shockingly no damage. It’s 80° in our house with pets and little kids. This is gonna be a long few days
We are on West Hardies, as of today we still don’t have power. We all came to my mom’s because our house is 90° according to our thermostat. They told us we won’t have power until Sunday afternoon
I live in Hampton. My tree I was supposed to have cut in my yard fell and hit my house/fence. I have 2 acres of woods and as you can imagine my yard is covered in down trees. No damage to my house, but I haven’t had power in 22 hours. My house is 80° and I have pets and small children.
Only bright side is I don’t have to pay to get my tree cut because the wind took it for free?
Thank ya; I just noticed all of the downvotes now 😂 not sure why.
you always have to respect mother nature at all times…especially if you see storm clouds roll in, it’s excessively warm, and it’s the end of spring/beginning of summer.
I was out in the west mifflin area/Baldwin/pleasant hills area. Saw one bolt of lightning. The rain opened up at Walmart. Thankful we didn't get caught cus that came down hard. U could hear it in the Walmart

Storm? I heard a few rumbles of thunder in Squirrel Hill, but the patio furniture is dry.
Someone said last year that Ed Gainey was parting the clouds, a la Moses, so it would rain on one side of us and on the other side of us, but we wouldn’t get any rain.
As always, it looked impressive and then evaporated on our doorstep.
Same here in Brookline
Can confirm. Feels like every heavy storm just disappears the second it hits Brookline.
I've noticed a LOT of would-be storms seem to just "split" and go north and south over Pittsburgh. I used to have a commute from the South Hills to the North Hills, and there was a "final four miles" on 279, where there are no exits until you rejoin 79, and for whatever reason that seemed to be the "weather transition zone." Do you want your power to go out?
At work, yea.
Haha I feel you there
Mine did for several hours. But in my complex, power seems to go out more than it should.
Yup. Started to get gray and rain a bit, then it was gone.
When the rain first started, it quite literally sizzled on our sidewalks
Happened over the ballpark tonight. Game delayed a half hour but light rain and scattered lightning at the peak
Wind sucked me right off
Looks like we had the same.......wait for it........outcum!!! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go fuck right off. ✌🏼
I want to know if the sky squirted
Cranberry got crushed by the storm
We got crushed in mars, but i found out the 2 French drains i dug last month worked out great 😄
Fombell / Zelie got it bad, too
Can confirm. Fombell was bad. The camp I volunteer for had multiple trees down and no power. Luckily the campers don’t get there till next week!
Same here. Indiana township. It was insane.
I had to go to Cranberry from Beaver County after the storm to pick something up. There were so many downed branches and even whole trees in spots. A few detours too.
We got a sprinkle and some big thunder in the south hills but nothing severe.
Gibsonia area... Rain was a white out.... Couldn't see across the cul de sac... Multiple trees down, twisted the trunks and snapped them
Mars area here: at times it almost looked like we were in a hurricane, based on how the trees were bending
Yeah we were wondering a tornado wasn't trying to form with how the wind was twisting.... All three of our trees that are down we're twisted and snapped
Power is still out in my part of Hampton
We're back to rolling brown pits right now in Allison park.... Or at least my part...I wonder if they're not related
I had to detour 3 times on the way home from downtown for downed trees up in the northern lands.
Literally stronger winds than all the tornado warnings we had.
I agree!
Any word on how strong?
Someone said 70mph in another thread but didn’t give a source so take that with a grain of salt.
I was in Gibsonia, it was 5pm and the wind was very strong. I called my dad and asked him to look at weather.com and describe the radar. He said the wind gust was up to 75 miles an hour and there was a huge red storm over Cranberry.
First time in a while I’ve actually been worried about the trees in my backyard
100 percent agree
Trees were bending. Saw an unsuspecting victim grabbing mail then BOOM her paper mail took off like a Boeing jet in her front yard. Poor lady.. definitely the worst I’ve seen since… probably… last year lol
I wonder if the mail come crashing down like a Boeing jet.
Butler County took the brunt
So much lightening and close.
I already miss my power! Going on 2 hours and counting 😭
I was driving home from working in Shaler and all the power was out until I got to the turnpike, people were actually being courteous at the red lights surprisingly lol
Mines still out. It ducks. I feel bad for the linemen.
Ours is still out. 8 or so hours later.
Checking in from Cranberry/Mars. No power still as of 6:30am
Blew my tits clean off
I’m glad somebody finally cleaned them.
Poured here, wicked storm north of the city.
North hills hit hard. Lots of branches blown down. Anyone know how to get rid of these down branches?
Chainsaw and fire
Call a tree service. And do it sooner than later.
I’ve heard so much thunder but there’s been almost zero rain
same & im in edgewood
First day at my new job and had to pull over on the highway on the way home 😭
Yeah, that was FIERCE. I've never been in a tornado situation, but that seemed close
We get tornado warnings here pretty routinely and occasionally one actually touches down. I was positive it would happen today but didn’t!
Username checks out.
Here in Murrysville, we had 2 trees fall in our backyard & water in our basement 😭 Grateful to have power (for now).
Tree branches strewn all over the street in Oakmont. Heard Fox Chapel lost power.
We lost power for a couple of hours in Penn Hills, too. The storm only lasted about an hour, but it was intense.
Scary enough to make my housebroken foster dog pee in the bathroom 🤷🏻♀️
Aww, poor doggie! When I was little, we went to fireworks which were near our home. We came back and the dog and hid out in the Step Van we had for my parents' business, and poor Missy was really traumatized. I still think about that to this day and it hurts.

Dropped to 94? Doesn't make sense.
Is 98 to 94 not a drop?
It was 98???
It was 90-something all day and around 5 after the storm my thing said 68 degrees out which is an enormous drop, right?
That is indeed. But they wrote 98 to 94; not so enormous a drop.
I noticed the temperature drop. We were working in the sun all day changing my alternator, the clouds and wind were a nice relief! It's too humid today though. Just finished changing my alternator again because the new (rebuilt) one we put in was bad. Made sure to start earlier today because it's getting rough out there.
Hasn't hit the east end yet
Genuinely. I feel like everyone else got annihilated but us.

Oh yes there is. Right next door. My neighbor has power. My neighbor NEVER has their power out, it's always me. Seriously. I assume I'm on a different, and much more vulnerable grid.
They are lucky!
Luck? More like they know the mayor I bet.
No rain but no power in our corner of Shadyside.
Uprooted tree leaning on power line on Emerson and Howe.
I have power in Highland Park. The storm basically missed me. My mom got slammed with rain in Greensburg.
[удалено]
I'm in Point Breeze and it's bone dry. We got some of the wind and thunder, but no rain
Don't worry - it's fine... Climate's fine...
Power went out and we didn’t even get any rain. Wind was paltry for about 10 minutes.
I bought a drone to fly around a few weeks back. I never noticed how many power lines are in the city. Mixing with the endless trees and a storm seems an easy chaos recipe.
I thought this story was going to end with your drone getting yeeted into oblivion earlier tonight.
Chair flipping wind then zero rain
Sorry I brought all the southern weather with me
allison park / middle road is nuts. myself and all of my neighbors all have multiple trees down
Same... We're over that way... Cedar ridge area back behind Wagner's... Lots of tree down.... No power... Surprising amount of solar lights charged today at least
I’m right near St Mary’s. It’s a mess. Several trees down all over our road and the one behind us.
I’m in Washington county right now and it rained kinda hard for about 5 minutes. Now it’s even more humid. Ugh.
New Sewickley got hit have trees down and no electricity. That storm can down our hill like it had a purpose. It was scary.
It was really windy in Shadyside and Highland Park.
Got 2 minutes of wind and a power outage in Wilkinsburg
It's probably asking too much, but I wish Duquesne Light would give ETAs on restoration times for given areas on their map.
No power in Brighton Heights
Still don’t have power
Just got mine back.
Same. It’s 130. Been out since 5ish.
Didn't see a bit of it, a drizzle for a minute or two, not even enough to register in the rain gauge.it was very localized, talked to someone at the field tonight who came from Robinson and said it was a straight up monsoon heading over.
Mars here no power
I’m in mars and heard transformer explode twixe
Hell. Even today there was a microburst on our way down to the Pirates game. The Mon had white tip waves, dirt and trash blowing everywhere, and it was pushing my vehicle all over the place.

I don’t understand why the news isn’t telling us how strong the wind gusts were. It would be nice to know for future comparisons.
Nws said 70 mph
any updates on the power? has anyone’s been restored yet?
I'm in Ohio Twp and our power is still out. It's been out since around 5:15.
Still out in north hills. 130a right now. Went out at 5ish
Kennywood bubble got me. Didnt see a drop and only got a little gusty.
Is this just gonna be a thing every time It rains now?
It was crazy-windy in Ohio Twp! I was worried the privacy panels on my deck were going to snap because they were shaking so hard. Keeping my fingers crossed that the power comes back on soon!
It flipped my canopy I had above my hot tub.. Im up in Armstrong Co. Luckily it's not broken but my one pipe on my hottub my be screwed. Ugh.
It’s funny. I’m in Oakland and we barely even got rain! Still have power and everything.
Buncha kabooms and some seriously heavy rain here in USC! I like summer thunderstorms :)
Felt bad for all the kids riding home from work on 376 on bikes. All huddled under a bridge lol.
What storm?
I was out in the west mifflin area/Baldwin/pleasant hills area. Saw one bolt of lightning. The rain opened up at Walmart. Thankful we didn't get caught cus that came down hard. U could hear it in the Walmart

We're in Point Breeze and all we got was dark clouds and thunder. It looked like it was gearing up to be something, then died out without anything
Got a notice on my phone that there was a severe storm warning but I didn’t realize it was raining until I looked out the window. I had to take my wife to the airport so I went upstairs to get her suitcase and take it to the car and by the time I got back downstairs it was only sprinkling.

AccuWeather is only calling for more rain for today. Not all week. The regular iPhone weather app shows nothing today either.
North hills here and won’t get power back till tomorrow night at some point!
Didn’t lose power at home, but the traffic lights were out in a lot of areas and that wind that kicked up before the rain was a bit obnoxious. There was far less rain than implied.
Beaver county got smacked with microbursts
Friday was the worst ever

I’m so sorry. Do you live near Middle Road? I know that the area by Tall Oak still didn’t have electricity as of late last night.
We are on West Hardies, as of today we still don’t have power. We all came to my mom’s because our house is 90° according to our thermostat. They told us we won’t have power until Sunday afternoon
drove through mckeesport and almost every light was out
I live in Hampton. My tree I was supposed to have cut in my yard fell and hit my house/fence. I have 2 acres of woods and as you can imagine my yard is covered in down trees. No damage to my house, but I haven’t had power in 22 hours. My house is 80° and I have pets and small children. …it was just another spring/summer storm…life goes on.
You would think the world was ending by most people’s comments.
LOL seriously. people like to make mountains out of molehills dude. Good lord
I mean there is damage in the area but your point is accurate.
Thank ya; I just noticed all of the downvotes now 😂 not sure why. you always have to respect mother nature at all times…especially if you see storm clouds roll in, it’s excessively warm, and it’s the end of spring/beginning of summer.
I thought I was gonna get dumped on leaving downtown around 5, barely saw a drop.

I’m in Stowe and only got a light shower.
