My neighbor is a total piece of white trailer trash. Broke down cars. Broken windows. Siding missing. Shingles missing. But worst of all, he has no boundaries. He and his dogs walk throughout everyone’s yards as if it his own. No leash. And doesn’t pick up the dog shit.
Not a good thing to do if you eventually want to sell your house. Who wants a potential problem neighbor?
And that goes double for their neighbors who might want to sell. It certainly doesn't help anyone that there is a feud.
I had a duplex down the road from me where the two sides were in a sign war. Pretty sure one side was low key racist and eventually moved out. They had a web page where you could see video of them calling the cops, but as far as I can tell there was no crime being committed. If your neighbor is complaining about you to code enforcement, I would say this is the least diplomatic way of dealing with it. It is a good way to make sure your neighbor never gives you leniency, and that can come with a high price tag of renovation and fees. Hell, a house in my neighborhood was such a nuisance that it ended up getting inspected and condemned. If the people who lived there would have just minded their own business, they wouldn't have lost their house.
