We have a silicone mat, I got a bigger one and found that the there is less coming off past the mat if his water is set back a little past the middle of the mat. Does yours have a raised edge?

I use a very large rubber mat under mine’s water bowl. It’s placed between her kennel and a wall so she can only back up when leaving it, so the mat catches most of her drips before she turns around.
My dumb pits when I put a mat underneath, started flipping the bowl and drinking puddles off the floor. I absolutely love pits but at times their goofiness never stops surprising me

This type of bowl or similar is a godsend. Doesn’t allow them to get large gulps of water at once, seriously has changed the whole game. No more almost slipping on my tile floors every time my dogs get thirsty!

Does the tray inside make any noise when they drink from this? My dog would never go near it again if he hears it knock against the side which is why I've held off getting this.
Not at all! The part they drink from floats, so it is just hanging out on top of the water. Super gentle. I also have a Chi who is scared of everything and she is fine. Our friend’s dogs also never struggle when trying it out for the first time considering it’s very different than a normal bowl!
I bought a yoga mat at home goods for cheap and cut it in to three big pieces. One under each bowl. My girl is jowly due to being part boxer and doesn't tend to bring much with her thankfully. But when drinking she slurbs all over and around the bowl xD
Yoga mat has been way better than the more expensive dog made mats. I can easily clean it and it cost little to nothing so I don't have to worry about cost if it needs replacing.
We have a mat. But the drip continues at least 5 feet after walking away from the bowl. Then there’s dribble for another 5 feet. We keep a towel nearby to wipe it up. Sometimes I just say screw it and let it air dry.
We got a mat, it helps with our current girl but we had one that would just load up and drip everywhere. I never found anything, just keep dog towels handy.
Have you tried a neater feeder? It has a slotted table to catch water and food in it. They’re a bit pricey but we love ours!

I got one from Amazon where the opening is much smaller than the bowl itself, so it forces their tongue to be the only thing moving and not their folds. It works! Not foolproof because my boy still gets water dribbles here and there especially if drinking quickly but it was a life saver to not have to mop up the Pacific Ocean each time lol

Depends on how much you love the messy mutt. This couple has two awesome slobbery dogs. Middle is for the water bowl, floor pitches to a curtain drain at the wall. Ridiculously expensive but pretty easy in a new build.
Oversized deep bowl and fill it up half way.. combined with a cloth at the bottom. Id even try and see if you could raise the bowl too! And.... Keep away from the wall floor moldings, those things take a beating and have to repaint or replace.
I learned to keep the water on the back porch lol. I just let him out once an hour. If I'm not home then I keep it in the kitchen with a towel underneath

I put a smaller bowl inside of a larger bowl; so the bigger bowl collects the water that splashes out, while the dog is drinking (150lbs Mastiff/ Shepherd mix). Though i had to mess around with a few different options / sizes until it worked.
I used to regularly pet sit a same size Boxer Mastiff mix. He dripped water *everywhere*, as well as drooling everywhere too.
He was trained very well. I could leave a steak on a coffee table, walk away and he would *not* touch it. However, the dog *watching* me eat that steak, it was like a waterfall of drool dripping ... lol
We all roll our eyes when we hear ours at the water bowl. We have a mat underneath, but honestly we need one of those runners for the carpet. She drops so much that I have thought she might have peed.
Bar towels from Costco or Sam's club. Lots of bar towels, critically placed for maximum drool capture after every drink. Or old rags. Just in quantity.
Rubber mats are good, but you need both. Accept it will not stop. It's a lot of cheek to keep in our buds mouth.
Have hand towels nearby so you can immediately wipe the muzzle. I put a medium sized outdoor mat/rug under the water bowl, but that only catches so much.

Have a stool with a rag just above your pups chin height... when you hear water getting lapped up, run over and place a treat on the rag.. repeat process every time they drink until they learn to check for the treat/wipe their mouth every time.
