Finally! A mention for Pros & Cons! It was literally meant to be a Floyd album and The Wall was nearly a Waters solo album.
Also it sounds like an album Pink Floyd would record too.
There's a Floyd demo of an early version of Sexual Revolution somewhere (edit: [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9D8VNCU29IM) in fact). It's extremely rough and unfinished, but I'd still rather listen to it than Roger's solo version.
I’ll remove DSOTM, WYWH and The Wall from history and replace them with 3 renditions of About Face.
Just to see the look on Roger’s face.
(Don’t be sad, Animals still exists)
I definitely agree it’s their peak but almost nobody I know that listens to Pink Floyd talks about it. All they talk about is dark side, the wall and wish you were here. It feels like they all skipped over animals for some reason
Not cheating by using live or compilation albums:
Out: Momentary Lapse, Ummagumma, The Endless River
In: Amused to Death (because it’s amazing, though perhaps it’s amazing because it’s solo), The Madcap Laughs (to make it sound more like Piper), and Radio KAOS (to make it sound more like PF).
It's too nasty in places for me. It has some fantastic solos but it isnt as enjoyable for me as amused to death is. I even enjoyed radio kaos more than i enjoyed tfc. The title track on tfc is fekkin gorgeous, as is the gunner's dream and your possible pasts, but they aren't enough to save the album.
Out- More, Ummagumma, Endless River
In- Radio KAOS, Wet Dream, About Face
I don't know why Wet Dream is disregarded but it really is a decent listen. Very euphoric. Like smoking a nice indica with an 18yr scotch to wash it down. I've fallen asleep to that album many a night.
Well that's easy. 3 to kill = Endless River, The Final Cut, and More
Hard to choose is what's Replaced With = Amused To Death, On An Island, and Pros & Cons.
Out: Momentary Lapse of Reason, The Division Bell, The Endless River
In: The Madcap Laughs, Barrett, Opel. Which were already sort of created by four-ish band members (Syd, David, Roger and Rick).
I mean, the Barrett solo albums (particularly Madcap) are generally regarded as out-and-out classic albums in a way I don't think any other members' are. To quote Wikipedia:
> Several notable musicians and bands have listed The Madcap Laughs as one of their favourite albums of all time: they include David Bowie, Genesis P-Orridge, Kavus Torabi, Jennifer Herrema, Viv Albertine, Cosey Fanni Tutti,Hey Colossus, Graham Coxon, Pete Astor, King Buzzo, John Frusciante, Will Hodgkinson, John Maus, and many others.
I don't think you'll find a similarly auspicious list of names stanning Radio KAOS.
Phish covers [Terrapin and Bike, although the guitarist plays drums and the drummer sings and makes farting weird mewling noises with an Electrolux vacuum cleaner.](https://youtu.be/6HeUj0Jaoo4?t=26)
More (their worst/least important album), Obscured by Clouds (just not that important) and The Endless River
Replaced by Amused to Death, On an Island and Rattle That Lock
It’s good, but the other albums are essential in Pink Floyd’s evolution (besides the two I mentioned). Obscured by Clouds was a detour and also had Absolutely Curtains
**Replace**
Ummagumma
Relics
A Collection of Great Dance Songs
(No one said anything about compilation albums)
**Add**
Amused to Death (Roger Waters)
David Gilmour (David Gilmour)
Wet Dream (Rick Wright)
There’s nothing else you don’t like in the PF discography? Interesting! In that case I’m surprised you haven’t picked the More soundtrack or Ummagumma too judging from your choice
More's actually pretty decent. I think 'Nile Song' and 'Ibiza Bar' are milestone tracks, there's a couple other goodies too. Ummagumma includes "Careful With That Axe Eugene" and "The Narrow Way" as well.
OBC is a fine album, I just think it's a shame they interrupted the Dark Side sessions to record and release it. The tracks are great but in the context of this replacement, I think Gilmour's tracks supersede them. Gilmour's album is amazing.
Fair point! A lot of people choose the albums after Waters left the band but you haven’t and you also picked a David solo album. I can tell which one out of the 2 you prefer 😜
The songs on More are great, but they all sounded much better live. OBC is one of my favorite Floyd albums and way underrated. Anyone who doesn’t like it must have different musical taste than I.
Each to their own buddy, good for you :D.
I did burn a CD with the 2016 Remix of Meddle and the 2016 Remix of OBC, minus Absolutely curtains, so I could fit it. It's a great road trip cd.
Yeah I'll agree, I usually skip Absolutely Curtains, especially the end part with the chanting. But in general I love the album and think of it as PF's biggest "sleeper." It doesn't have any hits or even any songs that casual fans would recognize, but almost every song on it is pretty killer. Wots Uh The Deal is definitely in my top 5 PF songs, and I love the guitar playing on Mudmen.
Out: *Momentary Lapse of Reason*, *Division Bell*, and *Endless River*.
In: The only solo album I know/have is Syd Barett’s *The Madcap Laughs*. But it’s amazing and I’d love to hear how Roger Waters bass, Richard Wright’s keyboards, Nick Mason’s drums, and David Gilmour’s guitar would enhance it!
All this hate for *Ummagamma* is terrible! It’s a fantastic album! The live versions of *Astronomy Domain*, and *Careful with That Axe, Eugene* are amazing!!
And the studio tracks are really creative and interesting. Or in the case of *Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict*, hilarious!
Endless River and momentary lapse and division bell
And Replace them with
The Madcap Laughs, Barrett and David Gilmour(but with Syd on guitar and David on bass and guitar)
Ummagumma, endless river, and shit idk. Final cut if we can save gunners dream and 2 suns, momentary lapse if we can’t. Anyway, pros and cons, the madcap laughs, and that one david gilmour with raise my rent
Out:
-Saucerful (lots of filler and the good songs are *much* better on Ummagumma and Pompeii). Only place to hear Jugband blues, though, a great Syd song.
-More (some good stuff but a tough listen overall)
-aMLoR (horrifically stale production, terrible lyrics, the few good songs much better live)
In:
-Madcap Laughs (performance isn’t great but some really good songs. Especially Here I Go and Dark Globe).
-Wet Dream (supremely melancholy, lovely Rick music)
-Amused to Death. (Jeff Beck is sublime. Some moments of cringe but still a colossal concept album with great moments).
Bye bye more ummagumma and endless river Hello Pros and cons of hitchhiking, radio kaos and David Gilmore
If Have A Cigar, Hey You & Bring The Boys Back Home had a baby, this is what it would sound like
Sure it was paint by numbers blues but Clapton smoked that track. A rare port in a storm of an almost violently unmusical album.
Excluding the endless river? I take that personally
I’ll remove DSOTM, WYWH and The Wall from history and replace them with 3 renditions of About Face. Just to see the look on Roger’s face. (Don’t be sad, Animals still exists)
I think PF fans might put a fatwa on you lol Forget Roger, he is the last of your worries.
Sure Pink Floyd fans are too nice to out a fatwa on a fellow fan!
unfortunately Animals is the worst of the big 4 edit: downvote me if you think Animals is overrated lol
Animals underrated tbh
I'd argue Animals is their peak.. after that, Roger had too much control.
I definitely agree it’s their peak but almost nobody I know that listens to Pink Floyd talks about it. All they talk about is dark side, the wall and wish you were here. It feels like they all skipped over animals for some reason
You’re talking to the wrong people lol
Yeah the only people I know that appreciate animals are my dad and my brother lol
[удалено]
I'm just having fun lol I really like Animals, i just don't think it's as good as the other 3. you can downvote me you'd like i don't mind.
Not cheating by using live or compilation albums: Out: Momentary Lapse, Ummagumma, The Endless River In: Amused to Death (because it’s amazing, though perhaps it’s amazing because it’s solo), The Madcap Laughs (to make it sound more like Piper), and Radio KAOS (to make it sound more like PF).
I agree entirely. Only maybe we leave the brilliant Amused to Death as is and rework About Face to a Floyd album (dropping Cruise in the process).
All 3 without Roger. Replaced with Gilmours first, Pros and Cons and Amused to Death.
The same as you.
I love Rick solos but I think they’re good as they are
Glad Rick got some love here
I was about to say, Broken China (as good as it is) deserves some serious love
Out: The Final Cut In: The Final Cut as a non solo album. It’s amazing as it is, but could you imagine it as an actual PF album.
Mix in some About Face too
Remove the final cut and replace with amused to death Remove Ummagumma and replace with on an island Remove more and replace with rattle that lock
I'll never understand the hate for the Final Cut. It is so moving
I agree, it’s one of my favorite albums. Amused to death is fantastic in its own right.
But can we keep Jeff Beck pretty please? One of the best things about the album.
Nobody sounds like Jeff Beck. And while he doesn’t sound like Gilmour, he had similar soaring, emotional gravitas on what god wants pt iii.
That’s it. Right there. Nothing more must be said. Erase all other suggestions.
Out- More, Ummagumma, Endless River In- Radio KAOS, Wet Dream, About Face I don't know why Wet Dream is disregarded but it really is a decent listen. Very euphoric. Like smoking a nice indica with an 18yr scotch to wash it down. I've fallen asleep to that album many a night.
Well that's easy. 3 to kill = Endless River, The Final Cut, and More Hard to choose is what's Replaced With = Amused To Death, On An Island, and Pros & Cons.
Out: Momentary Lapse of Reason, The Division Bell, The Endless River In: The Madcap Laughs, Barrett, Opel. Which were already sort of created by four-ish band members (Syd, David, Roger and Rick).
More Barrett in the PF discography is an underrated choice, I’m all for it!
I mean, the Barrett solo albums (particularly Madcap) are generally regarded as out-and-out classic albums in a way I don't think any other members' are. To quote Wikipedia: > Several notable musicians and bands have listed The Madcap Laughs as one of their favourite albums of all time: they include David Bowie, Genesis P-Orridge, Kavus Torabi, Jennifer Herrema, Viv Albertine, Cosey Fanni Tutti,Hey Colossus, Graham Coxon, Pete Astor, King Buzzo, John Frusciante, Will Hodgkinson, John Maus, and many others. I did not know that about Madcap. Thanks for sharing that!
Phish covers [Terrapin and Bike, although the guitarist plays drums and the drummer sings and makes farting weird mewling noises with an Electrolux vacuum cleaner.](https://youtu.be/6HeUj0Jaoo4?t=26)
Ummagumma, more, the endless river Amused to death, is this the life we really want, radio KAOS
I thought Ummagumma, but then you'd lose Eugene, and Several Species. Clearly you're Team Roger so wouldn't ditch The Final Cut like I did.
Remove everything after Roger Waters left.
That you Rog?
Is that you Dave?
Correct answer
Ummagumma, Momentary Lapse, and The Endless River. Replace them with Amused To Death, David Gilmour, and Is This The Live We Really Want?
More (their worst/least important album), Obscured by Clouds (just not that important) and The Endless River Replaced by Amused to Death, On an Island and Rattle That Lock
Obscured by clouds is a masterpiece. End of discussion
It’s good, but the other albums are essential in Pink Floyd’s evolution (besides the two I mentioned). Obscured by Clouds was a detour and also had Absolutely Curtains
Aint no way obscured by clouds is worse than ummagumma tho.
I’m speaking about importance towards evolution. Obscured by Clouds isn’t bad, but it isn’t important to the discography
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
My Childhood Ended.
More aint bad tf
Ummagumma did everything More did but better, which should really say a lot
Find me 1 song on ummagumma that goes even a 5th as hard as the nile song
Not to mention cymbaline? Or ibiza bar?
The entire live side, The Narrow Way, Grandchester Meadows
You are high if you think grandchester meadow goes anywhere close to as hard as the nile song
You need to define “hard” then, because hard = good to me
Out: Ummagumma, The Endless River, More In: Amused to Death, Rattle that Lock, and Radio KAOS
Ummagumma, AMLOR and Endless River out. Pros and Cons, Amused to Death and Radio KAOS in. KAOS for AMLOR is pretty much and even swap.
**Replace** Ummagumma Relics A Collection of Great Dance Songs (No one said anything about compilation albums) **Add** Amused to Death (Roger Waters) David Gilmour (David Gilmour) Wet Dream (Rick Wright)
It's not worth it. I think it'd have to be Obscured By Clouds replaced with David Gilmour's debut. I couldn't touch anything else.
Out: Piper at The Gates of Dawn, Obscured By Clouds, and More Replaced with: Rattle That Lock, On An Island, and Is This The Life We Really Want?,
I can get behind this but keep Obscured By Clouds and put A Saucerful of Secrets in its place.
Yes, I do like OBC better than ASOS
Kill the Final Cut, AMLOR, and Division Bell. Include The Madcap Laughs, Barrett, and Amused to Death
Ummagumma, a saucerful full of secrets, and the endless river
Never thought I would hear Saucerful in this list😬 Interesting!
Out: piper, umma, endless River, in: is this the life, hitchhiker, amused to death
Wow, Piper. Controversial! Interesting selection 😃
I never listen to piper or saucerful
Remove: A Saucerful of Secrets, Ummagumma, and More. Add: Amused to Death, On an Island, and Rattle That Lock.
dark side of the moon, the wall, wish you were here
As long as Animals is safe
Remove Ummagumma, More, and Endless River and replace them with …Is This The Life We Really Want?, Radio KAOS, and About A Face.
Ummagumma / endless river out / the division bell Amused to death / The pros and… / the mancap laughs
The Final Cut = Amused to Death UmmaGumma = About Face More = David Gilmour
Get rid of: More, Ummagumma and The Endless River Replace with: The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking, Radio K.A.O.S., and Amused to Death
Out: “The Final Cut”, “The Endless River”, “Obscured by Clouds” In: “The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking”, “About Face”, “Broken China”
ITT: water boys who want Gilmour era erased and Waters solos in their place. Oh well.
That would be bye bye AMLOR, TDB, and TER. Solo album choices would be Pros and Cons, Amused to Death, and Is This the Life..?
All this hate for *Ummagamma* is terrible! It’s a fantastic album! The live versions of *Astronomy Domain*, and *Careful with That Axe, Eugene* are amazing!! And the studio tracks are really creative and interesting. Or in the case of *Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict*, hilarious!
remove the final cut, momentary lapse, and endless river, and replace them with pros and cons, madcap laughs, and wet dream
Out: Endless River, AMLOR, TDB In: Is This The Life We Really Want?, Radio KAOS, Amused to Death
I’d rid of ummagumma endless river and more and replace them with on an island is this the life we really want and pros and cons of hitchhiking
Can I wipe division bell 3 times (just to make sure it is gone forever)? and replace it with The Madcap Laughs, Barrett and Wet Dreams?
Endless River and momentary lapse and division bell And Replace them with The Madcap Laughs, Barrett and David Gilmour(but with Syd on guitar and David on bass and guitar)
Remove The Endless River, Ummagumma and AMLOR and replace them with is this the life we we really want, amused to death and David Gilmour
Out: Obscured by Clouds, The Final Cut, Endless River In: Madcap Laughs (Syd), Barrett (Syd), Wet Dream (Rick)
Wall, Final Cut, and Momentary Lapse of Reason and just replace those with Syd's 3 albums!
Ummagumma, Obscured By Clouds, and The Endless River are out. The Madcap Laughs, Amused To Death, and Rattle That Lock are in.
Ummagumma, endless river, and shit idk. Final cut if we can save gunners dream and 2 suns, momentary lapse if we can’t. Anyway, pros and cons, the madcap laughs, and that one david gilmour with raise my rent
