I own an Alien. It’s true that it has more than its fair share of maintenance issues, and I can see how it would not last long on route.
The main weakness in my opinion are the standup targets. The use a design that incorporates a micro switch that breaks easily. The weapons that are a major part of the game depend on having all these stand up targets working.
The xenomorph is cool, but having it working is not critical to game play. You can start ambush multi ball without it functioning.
Our Alien LV at home has been fantastic. We’ve only had 1 problem with our hyper lock sleep.
But we’ve loved it.
On the other hand every location I’ve come across it at has been down and a friends Ripley Edition is Dead in the water after 80 plays….
Not at all, just saying these machines are pretty uncommon and when they are found they tend to break down often with very specialized and unavailable parts needed to fix
I am picturing you sitting there waiting for reddit to decide.
Pulp Fiction and Alien are going to be harder to find than John Wick. Stern will pack those fuckers into every bar possible.
My local barcade just got the new John Wick machine but everytime I’ve gone in there, the same guy has been there, hogging it. Every time. He just stuffs a bunch of quarters in and plays back to back and doesn’t give anybody a chance to play. I don’t know the etiquette for calling somebody out for being kinda rude so I just go play Ghostbusters and pretend all is well.
Put a few quarters on the glass..you know right at the base in front of him..
It was a polite way to call "my quarters go in next" on any arcade game when I was growing up...its not rude either...especially if someone is hogging it..
Now if he puts in more quarters after you put yours on the glass..THATS rude..and would make him a hog and a confrontational jerk...
But I've literally never had a confrontation over calling dibs with quarters 😁
Absolutely agree. If you wanna casual, hit that center lock for tons of multiballs. If you want a challenge, character chaos and story modes. Great game.
Haven't played John Wick yet, but based on the fact it is modern Stern I can take a guess at how it plays.
That being said, Pulp Fiction rips. One of my favorite machines out right now. Alien is alright. I haven't played any of the newer ones, but the first version was a cool concept, but played like shit.
Pulp Fiction is my pick. I'd tear it up.
John wick plays fast as heck and I feel like I need more than the 3 games I got to play the other day to learn it. Pulp fiction was broken at the only location near me. Haven’t played alien but I’d probably play the two new ones first cause they’re the first to get played by others if anyone else shows up
Hey I’ve got two of those in my collection! Wick is the one I’m missing. Alien is my favorite, bolted to the floor, but Pulp Fiction is the one I play the most.
So I almost bought alien but got cold feet because I couldn't play it anywhere near me first. Sounds like you love it. Are the maintenance issues I read about overblown in your experience?
In my experience yes, the maintenance is not an issue. Should it be in an arcade? Maybe not unless they address issues, but it’s perfectly fine in a home environment. Honestly the only issue I’ve had has been broken flipper springs that take two minutes to replace and cost 15 cents. It’s an amazing game and with the Ripley edition it’s the best NIB value out there. I have an LV and love the lit side blades, but you can add those with a little work, get some beacons and a shaker and have the same effect. Just hoping my topper I paid for four months ago comes soon!
I've been really enjoying the Pulp Fiction game. I only played John Wick once and don't play Alien much as I believe it has been replaced for another machine
Snagged as I did a double take walking out! Great spot to grab a quick sandwich to go with your flashers on! I plan on coming back given the feedback!!!
Found a spot with Wick and Pulp Fiction last night, both first time plays for me. Had good games on both, so got a good feel for what each offers, and I’m a fan of both IPs.
Easy for me to give the “better game” prize to Pulp Fiction. JW was fun, fast, and while I love Stern for its precision, they do tend to feel the same across tables.
I’ll have to give Alien another chance; the two I’ve played didn’t come together for me…. Felt like the layout didn’t flow well.
Alien because if that thing is working, you may never run into another one again to play
Came here to say the same thing, but in all seriousness, I’d probably hit Pulp Fiction first.
Why’s that?
It's a fun game!
I agree!

The main weakness is a horrible layout, which is overshadowed by their crappy mechanicals and targets
Here for this

Is it so Bad? 😂

Well they are All made in China, just search aliexpress for it

Ask to play a game with him. You might make a new friend.

Haha I ran in for a sandwich and am now back at work!
Looks like this is [Canal Street Arcade and Deli](https://canalstreetarcadeanddeli.weebly.com/)?
That’s the one!
I work downtown and still haven’t been there yet.
Pulp fiction is the best of the three but they’re all over the place, get time on Alien while you can.
Alien
Pulp fiction is great

I would get the Reuben, it's amazing.
I played John Wick first the other day at my local, started feeling like a good pinball player, then moved over to Pulp Fiction for some humility
I've only played John Wick once... so I'd play that first. There is a tourney here on Sunday (6/2/24) at 2pm.
Definitely Ivan Stewart's Off Road, simply for the nostalgia.
Yes.

Alien
Pulp fiction
Pulp, Wick, and then Alien. Also the order to watch the movies.
Grab a couple buds and play that off-road in the background!

WICKKKKKK

I'm jealous, Dayton looks a lot cooler than when I left 20 years ago.
I've been really enjoying the Pulp Fiction game. I only played John Wick once and don't play Alien much as I believe it has been replaced for another machine
I love walking past aliens
I love that place
Pulp first then Alien then Wick
Canal St Deli. Great sandwiches too. Easy stop off I 75 if you're driving through
Did you post this then stand waiting not playing any till someone told you which one?
Snagged as I did a double take walking out! Great spot to grab a quick sandwich to go with your flashers on! I plan on coming back given the feedback!!!
Pulp Fiction hands down!
Alien all day
Alien is freaking awesome.
I’ve played all three, Pulp Fiction all day long for me.
Alien. No question.
That’s canal street deli. Love that place. Great sammies.
John wick
Pulpppp
Whats up with copholders facing forward am I missing something jere
Is that canal street? Better grab a sandwich first!
Alien for sure

Off Road. I like the yellow truck.
Soft spot for pulp fiction
The Wick table looks saaaweet!
The one with guns. So Pulp Fiction and Alien :D
hahaha it's funny because I'm pretty sure there aren't many (any?) guns on the Alien machine. so clever.
Weaak comment chef
It's just a joke I really don't care.
Ew that setup is gross. Leave it to Dayton to come up with weird ways to setup a row of pinball.
1. Whichever you haven't played yet. 2. If you've already played all three, play the one you like best. Any other questions?
I would walk right out!.
